Just some random thoughts...Where does this (and others) trade leave Boston in the East?..Honestly if we dont make any moves for a good pg. Boston is #1 imo, Garnett, Pierce and Ray Allen is a huge trio. Also look for Toronto to be tough as hell...They have some serious young talent there, probably best core of young players in the league imo. If the can put it together right they can be tough. Detroit is Detroit...Miami doesnt scare me at all, although stealing Cook in the draft will be a nice compliment to Wade. Cook woulda been a top 5 next year. Bulls made their main problems bigger IMO this off season..ThoughtS?

IMO, Boston is no.1 in the East pending another move. I think Ainge has to go after Brevin Knight with the MLE or LLE. That signing puts a selfless distributor in the mix, with Rondo learning to play pg from Brevin. Perkins manning the paint is a potential defensive presence. Gomes, Scalabrine and Big baby are good glue guys that will see spot duty.

IM hoping Toronto gets overlooked with the revamped East. personally I still think H2H, Toronto can handle the Celtics. raptors are a match-up nightmare just waiting to explode. Bosh is Bosh. TJ is the quickest guard in the league (hed be an all-star if he knew how to finish.) Il Mago is a triple threat 7 footer with unlimited range.

I think Miami, Orlando, and NY seem to be the odd teams out of the play-off mix.

(random order)
Boston
Detroit
Cleveland
New Jersey
Toronto
Washington
Chicago
Milwaukee

what are bulls main problems? and how did we make them bigger? love me chicago sports discussion.

bulls would have drafter noah over tyrus if noah came out when tyrus did. instead he come out a year later and bulls still land him. i like how that turned out.

also, noah is going to take over for big ben when his time is done here. hes two inches taller and 8 lbs lighter.

problems i see the bulls with is no true pg, small backcourt, and no back to basket post player.

however i like our HC edge, trio of gordon + deng + wallace, defense, coach, gm, chemistry, youth, bench, and potential.

No PG,Exactly, same problem as always..I think you guys coulda drafted some better players..I thik Law was still out there and a few others...Noah just complicates things more for you. That would be like us having 2 Varajoas

Good thread guys..

I will have some Boston thoughts in more detail later but they will not be the best team in East this year. Top 3-4...yes.

Clevelands only growth is from last years rookies.

Chicagos biggest problem is still no post offense and playing 4 on 5 with Ben on floor. Howeever, Luol Deng will have an incredible year. Very underrated.

Detroit...its about how much PT they get these young guys(Amir, Max, Stuckey) during the season. Potentially I think Max and Amir are like what the late-80's Stons had coming off the bench and I think the pace/tempo they will bring to the game will be impressive. Stuckey is like a poor mans Wade...love his game...

Toronto is a wildcard to me..

Orlando isn;t any better other than the obvious Dwight Howard growth each year

Miami is done and I believe his will be O'Neals last season.

Jersey I think will finally achieve their potential.

East is going to be a lot more fun IMO.

ac law makes me wanna throw up watching the rotation on his j. the noah pick is for when ben leaves shortly. then we can free up some of our 47 mi cap space and go after Elton Brand or some other back 2 basket post.

i would like to see us dump kirk as well. imo kirk is a tweener at guard. hes not a 1 and not a 2. like to see us draft or sign a vet pg who is at least 6'4 to help when gordon is on the floor. unless thabo can develop in our pg of future. him and gordon would be ideal imo.

thabo/duhon
ben/?
luol/noch
Elton/tyrus
Noah/Gray

and then two other pieces (a post and a wing)

Brewer...bens deal has 3 more years..correct? No one is gonna take him in trade. You guys are stuck.

ya this year and two more to follow.

i was never a fan of this deal and am not a fan of signing any player for more than 3-4 years and even more leary when its a older player.

the two contracts i dont like on the bulls are kirk and big ben. it takes up like 2/5 our 47 mil payroll.

im hoping we can package kirk in a deal and ship ben in his final year to another team who is on the verge of contending at the trading deadline. then we can make a move of our own.

paxson's only bad moves imo are these two single players contracts.

i wish bulls had a normal payroll. what i would do for another 20 mil ...

I have liked a deal with Gordon and some expiring's for Andre Miller. But Lou Williams has really emerged, and I don't think Gordon would fit here.

i want bulls to stay put this year. no deals. just continue to compete and play hard. MAINTAIN OUR CORE.

and have duhon and luol get elton brand back in chicago in summer of o8. or have ben gordon help get emeka from charlotte here.

then its time to contend for a ring.

The bulls! who can stop gordon, hinrich, and deng? plus big ben, tyrus t, and joakim " i am ugly as hell, and need a damn haircut" noah! east confrence champs

:36_11_6:BE HAPPY TO BE THE 6TH SEED..CAUSE THATS PUSHIN IT

we gonna win at least 29 home games. so prolly 15 road wins gets us a 6th seed.

i figure things dif.

say 31 home wins, 23 road wins. 2ish seed.

The Bulls do not scare me at all....I would rather play the Bulls than the Cavs, Celtics, Heat, Pistons.... I put them in the Toronto, Washington, New Jersey category.

The reason? There is not one person that I am afraid of...No offensive post presence at all! Dang and Gordon are both very good but shoot terrible shots. Yes, sometimes they can be on but who is the threat here? Hinrich is good but very streaky...

deng shoots terrible shots but is somehow 51.7% from the floor? gordon shoots mid 40s i can respect that as does kirk.

young teams and players are gonna be streaky.

also, cavs want to stay far away from miami ;)

also, whos to say this years bulls team wont have a post presence emerge from off of last years roster through growth in the summer or luol deng wont have a three ball added to his game this year?

tyrus has been playing the game of basketball for 4 years only.

Yessir makes a solid point about the Bulls but I will disagree about Deng. The shot under 10-15 3's all of last year. He was bombing them previous but unlike many NBA players he wised up to his strengths. Their is a reason I regard the kid so high. He can make the mid-range shot and create on drives. Now, his defense is suspect and long rangy defenders hurt him somewhat but the kid is one of the best young players in the league.

Bulls vs Celtics 7 game series

Bulls Lineup
PG Hinrich/Duhon
SG Gordon/Thabo/JamesOn Curry
SF Deng/Nocioni
PF Smith/Tyrus
C Wallace/Noah/Gray

Celtics Lineup
PG Rondo/House
SG R.Allen/Tony Allen
SF Pierce/Gabe Pruitt
PF Garnett/Powe/Glen Davis
C Perkins/Scalabrine

Bulls wins this series and heres why. for starters boston has no bench. but its even more than that. just take a look at the bulls defense. if kirk and thabo can contain wade they can contain ray allen. deng and noch will limit pierce. and most importantly kg is in for a nightmare. Ben Wallace and Tyrus Thomas are two of the best shot blockers in the nba for weakside help. Joe smith a good perimeter post defender. Noah is an energetic and agile 7 footer.

bulls on offense will be ok. kirk will do a ok job running show on rondo and eddie house (lmao). allen is off two ankle surgeries so ben gordon has a speed and quickness advantage there imo.

and the x factor is coaching. its pretty simple skiles is a defensive coach who runs a tight ship. doc on the other hand yet ... well first of all hes not even a doctor ...

bulls in 6

Bulls have PG issues, namely defending the point position. Unless Bos trades for a quality PG, the Bulls would win that series. I think Bos will look to trade for a PG but they literally have nothing to trade. Rondo might be a decent player in a few years, but he cant win a title now running a team. Bos needs a quality point man RIGHT now. Andre Miller would be a perfect fit, but like I said BOS has nothing to give up. Sixers would at least need an expiring contract or 2.

Everyone's talking about the East, any thoughts on the West?

The Southwest division has 5 potential playoff teams in it..most likely 4 though..helluva division.

The Pacific has one playoff team in Suns and then GSW/LAL are on the doorstep.

Utah/Denver should make it in Northwest division.

Portland and Seattle will be fun to watch going thru growing pains.

Minny, LAC,SAC should be awful this year but at least Wolves have upside now..
