Personally think the Pats are lined a bit high. I know if that dropped to 6.5 everyone would be on the Pats. I don't see them winning by more than a TD here.

Just heard a bit of Rex's interview. When asked if he had circled this game he said the games against the Pats are the only games he circles. He then went on to talk about Brady. Didn't sound overly focused. I'll take the better team with a playoff shot in their future at home in prime time laying under a FG, hell yeah.

Cinci with a mini-bye going from Thursday then not playing til the following Monday should shit-kick Houston. Seems like the Bengals have solved the prime time issues that haunted them for so long.

i feel like the bills fit this descrpition, but BOL

Pats are lined high every week, yet they keep covering. Its the tax you have to pay to bet on the Pats. I feel like betting against them is never prudent. Kind of like betting on an NFL under

The conundrum is that against teams Bill thinks he should beat easily, he goes with a pretty vanilla gameplan to not give up tape since he's saving all the good stuff for the playoffs. A little surprised the line didn't drop with Lewis out

my first look thoughts:

1. Bills are a real good team when Taylor, Watkins and either Williams or McCoy plays. Looks like they will this week. Keep an eye on Sammy's status, but I do like the Bills here if he plays

2. Packers/Lions is a stay away. On teh surface, who are the packers to be laying this right now? But then agan I cant trust the Lions in Lambeau.

3. TB beats Dallas

4. Panthers look like a trap. Lean Tits

5. Rams are great at home, but 7 is a lot to lay with nick foles at qb. likely a no play

6. Cousins is a great DFS play and I will be taking the Racists big

7. no play in miami/philly, except for over .12 in regards to my blood alcohol level at the time of kickoff. pumped for a 7am tailgate

8. Think the steelers can still rout even with Levi. Do we know whos playing QB for teh Browns? Prob doesnt matter

9. Jags are a better team than teh Ravens. Gimme the points

10. Chiefs handed the game to Denver earlier in the year. They will want revenge, but going on the road to face Denver off a loss is not an ideal spot. Stay away.

11. Pats cover if they care enough, but not sure if they do. Prob a stay away

12. Think seattle shows up. Zona has not impressed me as much as they ahve impressed others here. They struggle on the road and were losing big to Cleveland before McCown clearly got hurt, but stayed in teh game. They are off a bye. So is Seattle. Ill take the Hawks here

13. Bungles in a 10 point teaser

plus you know he doesnt want somebody falling on Gronks knee in a meaningless spot. Thier O line is in shambles too. All signs point to NYG but i just cant bet against NE. No play for me. Gun to head I do go Giants but think this is a solid no play

What do you think a back who is only on the field for approximately half the offensive plays is worth?

What do you think a back who is only on the field for approximately half the offensive plays is worth?

on a team like the patriots who can probably find a replacement weapon faster then you could spell Tom Brady's wife's name.

Hold on a second... the pats havent played the giants since the super bowl????

How could anyone think that they'll be vanilla?.... the giants are the reason the Patriots are not the greatest dynasty in the sport and perhaps in all of sports... Brady has not forgotten. I think he lights it up. Pats TT over is a must play imho

The pats o-line might not be the best.... but the giants d-line is awful and and the overall defense has been bleak. The offense is great though....

Pats are lined high every week, yet they keep covering. Its the tax you have to pay to bet on the Pats. I feel like betting against them is never prudent. Kind of like betting on an NFL under

I see Buffalo with no more than 7 wins, see Jets with 9.

Yes the Pats lines are typically over inflated but there are some spots I just can't trust them in. With a banged up O-line, their #3 offensive weapon out & heading on the road after three straight at home to play a team who has been finding the end zone quite frequently of late, I will take a pass on waging a side. I was at the game Sunday & they did not look good at all. As someone stated above they do play down to their competition but they have also been known to beat inferior opponents by 40+ in the past. They never got into a rhythm Sunday & the week before they played against a Dolphins team who reverted back to the Philbin-lead team of early in that dreadful 2015 season. Pats are my team but I'm not impressed of late & would never lay a TD on the road with them. Hope I'm wrong cause I fucking loathe the Giants, just throwing out my thoughts.

yeah man, i could absolutely see this being a flat spot for NE. But at the same time I'm not fading the Pats this year at all. Just a no play for me, i wasnt ripping a NE side. BOL

For better or worse, I bet the Browns QB @ Pitt will be McCown. Coach said today he will start if healthy, and he's not in the concussion protocol or anything, just battered and bruised. Probably a Josh McCown-Landry Jones showdown. And I bet the Browns get killed again. Better chance to win with McCown though, if you're strictly a hopeless dog player.

^^^ Probably not a horrible way to go but I don't want to be pissed at my team for only winning by 11 for instance. Don Best indicates they are 5-1-2 ATS but all dependent on when you grab the line, obviously.

still waiting on you to provide something useful to this board or maybe for once post a play instead of posting tales about bar fights

I cannot remember.....you like the JFF pick?

I, for one, just couldn't get it. UNLESS, they figured they would sell some merch and draw attention(are the games always sold out anyway? I know the love football in CLE, but not sure. Love that stadium.) to the team.

What are they gonna do with him? They really think he can be Tyrod Taylor or something and sit for a few years to learn? What is the vibe tip?

been waiting for years

He has a few threads with plays posted in them. Apparently you aren't paying that close attention. Duds, maybe you need the asterisks in your thread title, and since G Man is gone you can definitely go with them if you need to.

I've read thread & basically my thoughts are what I sense is the consensus so far

I want to bet Giants & came 'this close' but on second thought just cannot pull trigger - I had Skins lat week & save for 1H jitters/dropped passes they 'could have' covered....but while its a 'tax' you pay on NE, they just cover

Want to take KC, still may, but off a loss @ home its hard to fade Broncos - but still might

Like the Jags - but I might like them more than I normally would b/c having hard time identifying a play this week....my line has dropped .5 since the open, so others have same thought

I'm telling you for damn sure that Texans one of 5 worst teams in league...but laying 10.5-11 in this spot on Cincy does not seem like best idea...and will not bet Texans, period end of conversation for me.

Call me crazy, but I'm thinking Skins may be the ticket....Saints on road, off a bad loss...hell its my most probable play so far, yet line seems a little fishy. I personally line game/score before I ever look @ actual lines. While I'm not always spot on, I'm usually pretty close. I lined the game @ Skins +3 and 48 and when this happens and actual line is +1 I have to second guess myself

I don't have a Bears line yet, but if its +7.5 I'm going to be on Bears probably -- and its not b/c of Sunday night win. Rams - over a TD and I'll take a team that has a good QB (I did not say great QB, but Cutler is a whiney, mopey, uninspiring good QB).

i dont understand how this is a flat spot?

first off they are undefeated and it is almost impossiblef or that to continue. Every team has a bad game now and then, its how the ebb and flow of a season goes. They are running away with their division and should have home field throughout with east.

But this week, with a horribliy banged up o-line and a key part of their offense out for the year, on teh road against a game that traditionally plays them tough, i could absolutely see them not being 100% up for this one.

bones...great stuff, agree with a lot and will be on Washington.

I think I am just gonna wait for it to get a smidge colder before i start fading Denver, or at least wait until they are playing a team with a qb who can do anything. completely agree that the points are tempting though, and a KC win would not surprise me in the least

The Jets have a couple notable injuries- Mangold is expected to play but is banged up, and they will likely be without Cromartie. Kyle williams being out will hurt the Bills in the run game, but would expect Buffalo to load up on Ivory and try to make Fitz and his thumb beat them. The biggest problem with the Bills D is their lack of talent at linebacker- so I do worry about Ivory getting past the dline for some big gains. Darby/Gilmore both have big play potential in the secondary, and if Fitz gets rattled or behind in the game it could be disastrous. I think Fitz will be getting pressured quite often thursday.

Offensively Buffalo is a completely different team when healthy. All reports are saying McCoy will be fine, which gives the Bills the best rb tandem in the game right now. Karlos is the real deal, and a legit run game is going to open passing lanes up for Tyrod. Watkins has a tough matchup on Revis island, especially coming off a game where allen Robinson posted 6/121 line on 11 targets. Even if Watkins is held in check, Tyrod should be able to spread the ball around- I don't expect him to only have 12 passing attempts like last week. I think the Bills+pts are a good wager, and I'm also looking at the Bills tt o20 as I think that's very attainable

The pick made for an exciting draft day in 2014, but he sucks. He still has his supporters among Browns fans, they're getting more scarce. I don't see how he can be considered anything but a bust, he's not an NFL QB.

As for ticket sales, Browns are fine in that department. But when it gets cold and they're out of it (also known as every year), a lot of sold ticket holders are disguised as empty seats.

Heres the thing. I don't think that hes the greatest thing since sliced bread or anything, and he may be flat out terrible. But the Browns handling of him is absolutely dispicable.

First, play the kid. Your team is going nowhere, so at least see what you have. If he sucks, then great, you'll get a high pick next year AND you will be sure that hes a bust. What is teh point of playing a 34 year old veteran with no upside over him?

Second, if you draft a guy like JFF, you have to let him be JFF. He was really good in the 1st half last Thursday, and most of his big plays were throwing on the move or when he was scrambling. That is who he is. Then in the second half, they call basically all pocket passes for him He is not going to be Aaron Rodgers. He may not even be Jeff Garcia, but at least call plays that play to his strengths.

Blows my mind that organizations would rather go with guys who define mediocracy like McCown and Cousins instead of at least seeing what might happen if you let the unorthodox guy play his game a bit. And if it doesnt work and he sucks, then great, you know to cut him and move on.

JFF's style of play isn't sustainable for one game, much less a career. His "great" first half Thursday night wasn't very good. He missed a million easy reads. It wasn't the Browns who handcuffed him in the second half, it was the Bengals. They stopped blitzing and dared him to beat zone coverage. He can't.

McCown is 36, by the way, not 34. I really don't care who they start at QB. McCown is a career back-up. I've seen enough of Manziel to say with 100% certainty he's terrible. And the coach, GM, etc. will probably not be here next season. Or maybe after the bye. Their QB of the future is not on the roster, unless it's Austin Davis.

Didn't we all though? Look I don't pretend to be an NFL talent evaluator, but man, who the fuck really thought he was 1st rd talent? Especially at QB, I don't care if he becomes a priest and becomes vegan, it was never gonna fix what he is. A great college QB who never, and I mean never had a chance in the NFL to be anything other than camp bait.

I think Tebow is a better QB than him

my first look thoughts:

1. Bills are a real good team when Taylor, Watkins and either Williams or McCoy plays. Looks like they will this week. Keep an eye on Sammy's status, but I do like the Bills here if he plays

Shady is the one to keep an eye on this week. Watkins is going to play. He was limited in practice, but that was just precautionary, he will be in the lineup and said he would be 100%.

Could be some gamesmanship going on with Shady though, as it looks like he's going to be a go. Rex mentioned that he will play, he's just not sure "how much, or what his role will be." McCoy himself said that he will be playing.

Pack off two straight losses, will be a play from me, I took the 11 and will go in for more if it drops.

Titans will be a huge play for me. Cam off two huge wins, goes on the road for one before returning back home. Just don't see how they get up for it. Tenny looked actually good last week.

Like Dwoww said, will be on the Skins.

Vegas loves them some Rams...at face value you'd think the number should be 3-4....but Rams are much better at home.

If you haven't, you need to read this article that Tip posted and you'll have all the answers you're looking for.

This guy breaks it down well. Not sure how to post an article, here's the link.

Brady still has has trouble sleeping because of the two superbowl losses.

I think you're off your rocker if you think the pats won't be up for this. It's been circled for months.

You won't hear a peep about it from players but this is the type of game where Belichick stomps down if he has the opportunity. Betting on the giants is silly imho...

as long as Karlos is healthy, shady can play or not adn i wont change my opinion on the game. now the games where BOTH missed, that is when teh team struggled. of course, that could be bc EJ played too

Just ready taht SBnation JFF article. Its all fair, but hes only going to bet better at those things if he plays

I suspect the owner is the guy who drafted him. But the coach has been so crappy in other areas, and the rest of Farmer's draft picks have been so shitty, I'm not sure immunity from the JFF situation will save anyone. Plus, guy owns the team.

I agree with all of this....Bill may approach the game in his usual way but Tom will want to crush them...for some reason the giants always seem to play the pats tough but there is a vast talent differential here and Tom is so overly competitive that he will be going for as many scores as he can get and don't forget he has pretty much control over the play calling with all the audibles he calls....the only thing that worries me is the inevitable letdown/evening out that is the nfl....but i cannot see that happening in this game

Just ready taht SBnation JFF article. Its all fair, but hes only going to bet better at those things if he plays

He may get better. I think the assumption now is that he should be making those plays now and isn't. Those weren't diverse plays with lots of options for him...they were pretty basic with a quick read or two and the ball has to be gone....especially when a couple of those dudes were WIDE open. I'm not too sure how much of that is going to be learned at this point, you either have it or you don't...and he doesn't seem to as evidenced by those few plays he broke down.

Him wanting to run immediately is something that may never go away, especially if it hasn't at this point with all of the work they've put in....he will always fall back on his natural tendencies (what it seems like, at least). You know damn well they've broken down similar film with him hundreds of times, so it's not like him seeing it this past week is going to make the proverbial light bulb go off in his head.

It just seems like the things Johnny struggles with aren't exactly teachable at this level. Similar to EJ Manuel with his inaccuracy and inability to read defenses...it's not something they can teach him, or at least until he gets the basic "reading" of a defense down, they can't teach him what they would be teaching other QBs who already grasp the simple concepts and can execute.

You can't teach accuracy, can't teach the basics of reading a defense (at this level). Even with the "basic" plays that EJ (and Johnny in those plays) has called, he still can't make the plays (and that's usually only having to look at/read one side of the field). These guys can't get through 1.5 progressions, let alone 3 or 4.

Johnny has too many physical limitations to go along with his steep learning curve, it would be the turnaround of all time. And he may or may not be an addict. And we're pretty sure he's an asshole, a shitty teammate, a poor leader.

He is tiny. He's not that fast. He's comfortable out of the pocket because he can't see over the pocket. He can't read a defense. He can't read his own offense. He doesn't work very hard. What are his NFL skills?

Larry,
Can u please ask nbafan to reply about the OL techniques being taught?
