It feels like forever since the last open, obviously... Lowry still has the Jug...

The last two times at this venue we've had unlikely winners...

2003 - Ben Curtis
2011 - Darren Clarke (DJ and Phil in 2nd)

This is the only Open course in southern England.

Par 70, 7024 yards

Let's start capping this... Love this championship and the history plus the weather is many times a factor...

1am eastern golf the first few nights is wonderful as well.

Are there any links between those who go to the Scottish open and how they do at the British? Saw the Scottish open field this week is decently strong

I picked up JT last night at 28-1. Figured if he played well this week that would go to 20 or lower. He’s -4 through 7 holes right now coming off an eagle. If you can grab it grab it now. He’s a value right now at that number and that’s what we’re searching for.

Already down to 20 on my site sorry boys

Great call on JT - had been eyeing him too on my book at 22 (never saw 28) but wanted to see how he started at the Scottish. Locked in after he dropped that eagle putt!

JT at 20 is still good IMO. Also like Xander at 18, Hovland at 28, and luckily was able to lock Oosthuizen at 40 right after Torrey Pines (now at 28 on my book).

Read that 6 of the last 9 champions played in either the Irish Open or the Scottish Open in the weeks prior to the British
Though it should be noted that neither the Irish or Scottish were played on links courses this year

Read that the greens are larger and fairways wider than 2011...

It is wet and soft right now but they obviously want it firm and fast...

British Open courses are by their nature quirky, and this one seems to me more than usual, so I wonder how the players who don't handle bad luck well will do? Rahm is famous for his temper, but he's playing so well right now, I don't want to get in front of that. But I'm not looking to back the guys who think that golf should be an execution contest only: Rory, JT, Bryson, and a bunch of Americans that only play this style of golf for the Open.

I've changed my golf betting strategy where I'm pretty light on the matchups and go heavier on the top 5/10/20 props, plus a few outrights. I tend to ride a few players so hopefully a handful of them will play really well. Worked out really well for the US Open with Louis, Brooks and Rahm. And I'm taking Louis and Brokss top 5/10/20 in every major until further notice. Here's where I am so far:

To win:

Spieth
Fleetwood
Branden Grace

Top 5:

Speith
Xander
Louis
Fleetwood
Grace

Top 10:

Rahm
Xander
Spieth
Louis
Brooks
Fleetwood
Grace

Top 20:

Hovland
Casey
Fleetwood
Scheffler
Poulter
Finau
Grace
Lucas Herbert
Noren

Matchups:

Spieth over JT
Fleetwood over Hatton

I've thought since the early spring that Spieth will win this, so I'm sticking with it. I think he'll always do reasonably well on courses where you don't just hit your stock shots all over (like Augusta) and have to use your imagination. And he's proven that he can recover from bad shots and scores as well as anyone, because he does it almost any time he pegs it.

Good luck to everyone, coffee golf is the best

Just took small bets on JT, Phil, Bryson, and Rory to MC, so you're probably looking at 4 of your top 6 finishers
My local does not have these, do you mind giving us the odds on each wager ? I will watch with interest
