PGA Championship Discussion

These yardages are ridiculous. Maybe we curtail the technology a bit.
Agreed.

Curious on the rough...

Obviously win can be a helping factor at this spot...

If I remember right conditions were calm back in 2012 (albeit that was August).

I am just getting into looking at the tourney and these are some I like currently

Cameron Smith
Justin Thomas
Rory
Stewart Cink
Lee Westwood

Course too narrow for Bryson?

JT and a locked in Rory look best of the favs. Speith faded Sunday. Not sure if conditions or his actual conditioning after a mini layoff?

Weather looks glorious.

Winds 10-15 Thursday and Friday.

Then 5-10 on weekend.

We won't have the 2012 nightmare round.

I think there is some scoring to be had this week with the wind down. Nothing like last week of course. But maybe something like WF a few weeks ago.

A "personality" and that's why we hear about him. He is an average professional imo
Thing is golf needs it. Going to turn into a bunch of stiffs that like each other plus Bryson and Fattrick, that's not driving new viewers

PGA marketing is gonna earn their salaries post Tiger/Phil

What is y'all's view of a Lee Westwood will finish 66th or better -115?

I really like it, but interested on contrary views or any thoughts

Took some Berger at 35/1

And for FRL, a good size play on Keegan at 66/1

Adding for FRL:
Cink
Burns
Kooch
Wallace
I like it so far. I don't know why but I am "iffy" on Burns this week (and I think Burns is the next "elite" golfer)

I am one that does not like to bet against Bryson and he can win any tournament. But, it seems as if he manages to make a double, or worse, enough that it is hard to know when the next one is coming and you know it is coming.

Looks like zero weather concerns an highest wind will be Thur/Fri but at 12mph that's not anything to sneeze at on this course

I'll second this and take it a step further

He's such an introvert that when something doesn't go exactly as planned, it seems like he internalizes and eventually blows up. The give/take with someone like him who strives to be a perfectionist can backfire really fast

I was iffy on the White Sox tonight, Bones, so hopefully Burns works out just as well.

As for Westwood, I just don't have a good read on him right now. I guess I still haven't gotten over him not coming through at the Players. But this is also Pete Dye, and under 67th would be the only choice for me if I were to play that.

67th also happens to be his rank for SG: Total. Woulda thought he was better than that. He definitely has been since the Tour moved east

I just like to have action going into the weekend. Speith fizzled out for me last week and I got Burns live at 10-1 when he was surging and he also shit the bed.

Thoughts on?

JT +1400
Speith +1400
Hovland +1800
Mori +2800?

Does Colin have the distance to compete here?

Mori absolutely does.

I took him as well.

Lot of international flavor...

Random John Daly sighting...

Tiger made it through the brutal 2nd round pretty solid but a blah weekend...

Keegan was defending champ...

Not sure why the PGA needs to make things any easier for these guys, agree with teapot, they need to slow the tech down, not enhance it
I actually think this was well intended but will have unintended consequences - like a lot of ideas/policies.

Haven't read the letter of the law but if the only intent was to speed up play I'm not sure what they were even thinking unless they likewise changed the penalty for slow play to be more severe along with it

I don’t know what reason was.

Listened to player interviews I could catch in the truck while doing errands.

1. Every player who commented said the greens were perfect for putting

2. Koepka - said his knee a lot better, but said he can wake up some days and it hurts more than others. does 1.5 hours a day rehab while @ the tourney and then 1 hour of "physio on the table." He said he still does his regular golf work too while @ tourney. So, +2.5 extra work each day

3. Jordan - did not hear interview, but evidently he has said that Webb Simpson is his favorite guy to play with and he is paired with him first 2 days

4. Finau - I bet against him doing well this week. Thus, I really did not like his interview. He sounded extremely confident. Played the course from the back on each hole and said course will be extremely tough, but PGA has said they will not play each hole all the way back

5. J.T. - he particularly commented on the greens - perfect. He was also asked about the Olympics and he gave all the answers you'd want an Olympian to give

6. Patrick Reed - did not hear interview, but he hit wedges into holes 12 & 13 in practice
