Carter James scored the only touchdown of the first quarter, and Connor Mendini added a 25-yard field goal with under two minutes remaining to give the Red Foxes a 10-7 halftime advantage. It was Stetson's first shutout victory since restarting the program in 2013. After a scoreless first quarter, Metiz found Baez twice in the second quarter to build a 14-0 halftime lead that proved enough. He added second-half touchdown throws to Dalton Bailey and Almari Brown before closing the scoring early in the fourth quarter with his third touchdown pass to Baez.

Butler 19, Murray State 17

MURRAY, Ky. – Ryan Short’s 22-yard field goal with nine seconds left lifted Butler to a 19-17 victory against Murray State on Saturday at Roy Stewart Stadium. The Bulldogs and Racers traded scores throughout the game, and Butler led 10-7 at halftime on Nick Howard’s one-yard run just as the half ended. Howard would give Butler the lead again in the fourth quarter with another two-yard touchdown run. Murray State took a 17-16 lead with 2:41 left on a 51-yard field goal, but that left Butler enough time to go 70 yards in 13 plays to set up the game-winning field goal. Howard ran for 85 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries and added 90 yards on 5-of-8 passing to pace the Bulldogs.

Drake 35, Eastern Washington 32 (overtime)

CHENEY, Wash. – Luke Bailey’s 14-yard touchdown pass to Trey Radocha in overtime catapulted Drake to a stunning 35-32 overtime win against Eastern Washington on Saturday at Roos Field. Drake scored on each side of the halftime break, with Shane Dunning’s 44-yard field goal making it a one-point game, 14-13, at the break before Bailey connected with Parker Olthoff for a touchdown to start the third quarter for a 20-14 Drake lead. The Bulldogs and Eagles traded scores the rest of the second half, with Drake tying the game 29-29 with 4:29 remaining in regulation. In overtime, Drake’s defense held EWU to a 36-yard field goal. DAVIDSON, N.C. – Mason Sheron ran for three touchdowns, and Mari Adams tacked on two more as Davidson rolled past Catawba, 49-14, on Saturday at Richardson Stadium. Sheron scored the game’s first touchdown on an eight-yard dash midway through the first quarter. He would give Davidson the lead for a good five and a half minutes later with a 79-yard dash for a 14-7 lead with 2:27 left in the first quarter. Shron’s third touchdown pushed the advantage to 28-7 with 6:37 remaining in the third quarter before Mari Adams tacked on his two touchdowns late in the second half. Adams finished with 128 yards on 15 carries while Sheron added 108 yards on 10 carries to pace the Wildcats 399-rushing yard day.

Presbyterian 31, Erskine 15

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Zach Switzer’s 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown proved to be the game-winning score as Presbyterian topped Erskine, 31-14, on Saturday at Babb Stadium. Switzer’s 90-yard kickoff return with four minutes left in the first half was his second big play. He opened the game’s scoring with a 67-yard catch-and-carry from Collin Hurst for an early lead. Hurst would add a second touchdown throw to Cincere Gill for a 14-0 lead before Switzer’s kick return put the Blue Hose up 21-7 at the break, and they wouldn’t look back. Switzer ended the day with 230 all-purpose yards -- 112 on kick returns, 50 rushing, and 68 receiving.

the fordham result was the most shocking FCS result I can ever recall for a game involving two FCS teams.

Just the way FU was shut down...33-3 to one of the worst teams in the country...something might be seriously wrong IN NYNY for that type of ish to happen.

It was raining and it bothered their offense a lot. When they did stay on the field longer they would eventually screw up somehow. I had CCSU and Over so I was watching for a little bit. They were just a total mess on O in the 1H and it was a little better in the 2H, they'd get close to scoring and then wouldn't.

The Bowling Green result isn't all that bad considering how BGSU played PSU, but this makes two games in a row their O wasn't able to do much of anything, in the 1H atleast.

They beat Stony Brook 26-7 last year as a 10.5 pt road fav. Cold and rainy in that game too. This year SB has a little life in the program right now with new coaches and new QB. SB beat Stonehill last week 37-10 only outgaining them 39 yards and that was Stonehill's first game with some new skill players. Stonehill had 3 long drives that ended in just 1 FG. Stonehill had 382 total yards (5.2) for just 10 pts (1 TD on 4 RZ trips).

For Fordham, no FBS D like they played in week 1 and no weather hopefully like they had to fight last week means that this week the Fordham O operate like it used to. And from last week's game, if SB is better on O, they might not be all that much better on D yet. First home game, pretty much last chance to save their season and right the ship. Not sure the margin of victory, but I think the O should be much better this week.

I never did see anyone line Abilene Christian last week vs West Georgia.

Lehigh is pretty good relatively speaking. They were DD favs at home last week vs Wagner and crushed them...could they be DD road favs this week at LIU?

Sacred Heart is terrible. They have lost to Delaware State and only beat a Dll 10-3 with 233 yards of total O last week! Marist made Georgetown work for it, another program with new staff that has appeared to breath some life into it, but Georgetown I would think should be about the same kind of favorite they were last week. I think historically SHU plays pretty tough at home. Their new QB is just young and they are down some offensive players. Might be an Under game

2 weeks into the season and summertime predictions on teams don't mean much right now. Clearly I was wrong on North Dakota, as were a lot of people. So many things made it looks like this team would be down, but here they are 2-0 ATS and have played some pretty good football despite whatever negatives may've appeared to exist in their program.

Looking at the box scores I see McDowell didn't play a snap for McNeese

I wonder why he got bench? He wasn't any worse than any of those other losers on the team.

I'll have to check. He did get benched in the 1H vs Southern, but they put him back in and almost exclusively ran. Maybe they held him out of a unwinnable game if he was banged up or something

Eastern Wash sucked - I can't believe that happened and have to look into the detail. I had Montana MLs, weren't bad numbers considering where it closed but not good losses regardless. Montana early in the season might be one to avoid?

I remember last year when they struggled with, was it Farris State - a pretty good Dll program. There were people, and think I might've too, saying that Farris is a decent team and struggling with them isn't quite as bad as it appears. This year, they struggled vs Missouri State, and there were people, myself included, saying that Missouri State isn't bad this year, then Missouri State got outclassed by Ball St in the 2H.

Hauck does this dance with the QBs - there is no denying the athletic potential of Ah Yat, but Fife barely played...and he was arguably the better of the two QBs week 1 (receiver drops Ah Yat had noted).

Morehead State this week...Montana surely will crush them, won't they?

MatthewJTravis_ is a twitter McNeese reporter. He said McDowell was gametime decision and that the other QBs were practicing with the first team last week. McDowell was dealing with a shoulder injury from Southern game

Running through some box scores. About 1/3 of the way done. No particular order

Butler outgained Murray 436-239, only won 19-17. Butler kicked two FGs from the M05 and were SOD 3x in Murray territory including once at the M15. 3 lead changes in 4Q. Butler 22y FG with :09 left for the win. Murray ran for 198 (7.6) and only passed for 41y on 10-of-15 passing

Western Carolina threw 4 INTs and turned it over 5x total (-3 margin). Campbell did outgain them 444-287, but were in the RZ 6x and only scored 2 TDs and missed 2 FGs. WCU's only TD was after they had a FG blk'd and a Campbell player touched the ball near the goal line and WCU fell on it in EZ for TD. WCU 25% 3rd down - their O was totally shut down by Campbell. Campbell continually hurt themselves with 16 penalties for 149y!

Central Arkansas outgained Lindenwood 554-258 (8.4-4.2) but needed a TD with 3min left to get barely ahead of the spread. UCA missed 2 FGs in the game. Rushed for 221 (5.8) and hit 71% completions for 333y passing

Furman QB Jones may've been injured in loss to Charleston Southern. Furman had 336-257 TY edge (4.6-4.1), but were -4 TOs. CSO had 10 pts off those turnovers, a 2p 9y drive for TD after INT and a 7p 26y drive for FG after Fumble recovery.. Furman was in the RZ 5x and only got 2 TDs

Davidson QB Coulter DNP in the win vs Catawba

Georgetown's covering TD didn't come until about 2min left in the game. They outgained Marist 319-210 (5.2-3.4). Slow start for GT, they trailed 7-10 HT but would gain 200 of their 319 total yards on the final 3 drives of the game all resulting in TDs. Marist O only reached GT territory twice all game

New Hampshire - Holy Cross was pretty good one. Both offenses moved it well on 1st and 2nd down, but failed to convert 3rd downs and make the most of their drives for pts. Holy Cross gained 388y (6.5), but were 8% 3rd down rate! They also only got 1 TD on 3 RZ trips kicking FGs from teh 14 and 10 yard lines. New Hampshire gamed 330y (6.6) was just 14% 3rd down and threw an INT in the EZ on their opening drive and later fumbed at the HC03.

Idaho O has converted 16.7% and 7.7% of their 3rd downs so far this year. Wyoming fumbled near midfield and Idaho recovered on the W37 which would lead to an Idaho TD on 4th-1. That was the only turnover of the game. Idaho was 2-for-2 TDs in the RZ. WYO was 1-for-2 having to kick a FG from the I05. Wyoming finished +45 total yards.

Lafayette and Monmouth combined for 3 TDs in the final 2 minutes. Laf scored TD, but failed 2pt conversion so they trailed 34-35, but they recovered an onside kick and went on to score game winning TD. Laf had 526-429 (6.3-7.7) TY edge.. Monmouth -2 TOs. Both QBs had big days, running games were bottled up

Lehigh blk'd a punt then got back-to-back INTs on their way to 21 1Q pts. 5 of their TD drives started in Wagner territory. This game saw heavy rain and wind

Mercer outgained Bethune Cookman 465-156 (6.5-2.8). Bethune was 0-for-12 3rd downs. Mercer had 13 TFLs.

Missouri State - Ball State combined for 58 4Q points, with 3 TDs in the final 2 minutes. BSU was trying to run out the clock and got a break away run to go up by DD, but MSU would go down to score with :13 left to only lose by 8. BSU had 435-320 (5.4-5.8) TY edge. MSU just 30% 3rd downs to BSU's 63%. BSU running game had 173-62 (4.2-2.7) yard edge.

Tennessee State only got into North Dakota State territory twice all game, their final 2 possessions of the game. Tenn State kicked FG with 5:34 to go to avoid the shutout. 436-200 (6.8-3.6) TY edge for Bison

Northern Iowa has played two perplexing games. Last week they had a 481-124 total yard edge but failed to cover in a 35-7 win over Valpo. They played a Pioneer team for the second straight week at St Thomas. Game was 7-7 HT and UNI was lucky to escape with the 17-10 win. Total yards were 331-297 (6.0-4.5) for UNI, but St Thomas missed FGs from the 13 and 12 yard lines and had the ball at the end of the game but were SOD at the 32. UNI also missed a short FG, from the 11, but also settled for one at the St Thomas 2. There were no turnovers. Teams combined for just 3 TDs on 7 RZ trips.

Rhode Island never crossed midfield at Minnesota

Richmond benched Wickersham for Coleman in the 4Q who gave the Spiders a spark, leading them for a TD, but on their last possession of the game he threw an INT to end it. Richmond QBs combined for just 44% and 129y and 4 INTs. Total yards pretty much even. Wofford did benefit from those TOs and had a 6y drive for TD after an INT.

Sacred Heart had a 233-88 (3.6-1.8) TY edge vs St Anselm, but could only manage 10 pts. They went 3-and-out 4x to start the game. 1 TD on 3 RZ trips (one was end of game the other was a missed 12y FG). 6 RZ trips on the year and only 2 TDs for them. 21% 3rd down, were only 30% 3rd down last week vs Delaware St.

San Diego now had 3 pick-sixes on the year! 2 last week vs Cal Poly and another this week vs Central Washington. They only outgained Cal Poly by 43 and only outgained Central Washington by 6. +2 TOs in each game. USD went 3-and-out 7x last week.

South Dakota struggled to sustain drives 18% 3rd down rate and struggled to score pts with 2 FGs from the RZ. Wisconsin did outgain them by 148y (5.7-4.6). USD had a slightly better ypc rushing 4.4-4.2, but Badgers had the yardage 171-123 and were better passing 17-27-214 to 12-23-114

St Francis outgained Kent by 122y (402-280 5.8-4.3). St Francis started a different QB than last week. Kent O went 3-and-out 4x to start the game. St Francis had good O most of the game, but after their first drive of the 2H they didn't advance past the Kent 43 the rest of the game. Kent had their chances at the end. Their final 3 drives were INT at the SF09, SOD at own 47 then kicked a FG with 1:38 left but didn't get the onside kick and St Francis killed clock

Stony Brook snapped a 12 game losing streak beating Stonehill 37-10 but it was just with a 421-382 (6.2-5.2) TY edge. Stonehill went 3-and-out first 3 drives of game then had 3 long drives including two inside the 10 yard line that only netted 3 pts. Their O got yards, but couldn't score. As it went, their only TD of the game was set up off a 70y KO return.

Tennessee Tech kicked a 32y FG at Georgia as time expired to avoid the shutout. UGA outgained them 498-134 (8.2-2.8) with Dawgs scoring on 7 of first 8 possessions. Tenn Tech ran the ball 40x and only attempted 8 passes.

The Citadel's comeback attempt came up short vs South Carolina State a week after they came from 18 down to beat Charleston Southern. The Citadel is 5-of-7 4th down on the year. SC State outgained them 421-275 (5.9-5.7)

Utah Tech was outgained 695-293 (8.6-5.1) in the 68 point loss

Valpo scored 22 pts on YSU in the 2Q with their backup running backup QB, but were limited to just 3 pts in the 2H. YSU had a 554-331 (9.6-5.9) TY edge with most of that being from the run game, 429-164 (9.8-5.0) rushing edge.

Sacred Heart is the Iowa of the FCS

I stayed off Montana because UND hardly ever loses at home in that dome.

The college kickers are the worst. Had the o52.5 in Southern Utah / UTEP and in OT down three the UTEP kicker shanked a 35 yarder and then got a second chance with an offsides call and basically kicked the ball straight sideways.

Some other random box score findings

Alabama A&M converted 14 of 14 3rd downs, but was against Kentucky State

Southern Illinois led Austin Peay just 14-10 HT and in that 1H AP missed a FG from the 19 and fumbled at the S29. SIU won 31-17, but only outgained them by 25y

Bryant may've been lucky to beat Franklin Pierce. Game was 7-7 HT. Bryant finished with a 358-367 total yard deficit in the 21-17 win.

Rain and wind set in just before KO in the Fordham- Central Conn State game. In the 1Q Fordham was averaging over 7 yard per rush, but fumbled at the end of long runs in CCSU territory. Fordham also had bad shotguns snaps and bad Punter snaps result in lost yardage and fumbles that CCSU got (Devils fell on one in EZ for TD). Fordham RBs finished with 8.5 and 6.6 ypc averages but the team rush ypc was 1.3. Fordham lost 5 fumbles, CCSU lost 2 and threw 2 INTs. Ugly game, both QBs under 50% and both teams under 25% 3rd downs. CCSU outgained them 284-188, won 33-3. Fordham had about 120y in lost yardage from sacks/fumbled snaps.

Chattanooga and Georgia State stayed Under and maybe should've been even lower scoring than 24-21. Each team had short scores off of turnovers (GSU a 25y drive for FG and UTC 10y drive for TD. GSU did have a TY edge 391-308 (5.4-6.0)

Drake passed for 393y on EWU. EWU had a few 3-and-outs in the 1H which would be very unexpected vs even a good Pioneer team. Drake led 10-7 early and the game was close throughout. 3 lead changes in the 4Q with Drake tying it to force OT and EWU had the ball first in OT and had to settle for a FG, Drake got the walk off 14y TD on 3rd-10. EWU ran for 206y on 47 attempts. Visperas was 77% passing, but just 179y on 23 completions with few big plays. Penalties hurt EWU taking some plays away like 3 on Chism punt return (blocks in the back) and another on a big Chism reception (illegal downfield). EWU was flagged 10x for 115y.

Indiana State was more competitive with Eastern Illinois than I would've thought. EIU did lead 27-13 before an Ind St TD with under 1min to go, but EIU only outgained them by 20 yards. A +3 TO ratio helped EIU as one of those was a 60y fumble return TD. Both teams rushed for under 3.0 ypc. Other than the INTs, Ind St QB Owens wasn't bad. He was 30-37-260-3-3 and was their leading rusher with 44 net yards.

Elon went up early on three 80+ yard drives while NCCU had just 81y of O in the 1H. NCCU benefitted from short fields for their first 2 TDs in the 2H and then had an 80y run with 2min left to make the final 41-19.

Gardner Webb - James Madison was weird. Both teams finished with under 300y of O. GW has now had 300y or less of O in their first two games, both have gone Under. GW was just 22% 3rd downs week 1, they were just 13% vs JMU but did convert 4-of-6 4th downs. Would've thought JMU could've run away with this game, they were a 36.5 pt favorite and only won 13-6

Incarnate Word hung in there with South Dakota State. Game was back-and-forth 1H and tied 17-17 3Q. SDSU pulled away over the final 1.5 quarters and scored the final 2 TDs to make the final 45-24. SDSU did outgain them 515-419 (7.0-7.1). Jacks run game was strong with 230y (5.5), but Calzada was good 31-39-351-3-0 and was teams leading rusher with 43y net. UIW did lose 3 fumbles and they had problems with penalties

Lamar outgained Miss Valley State 438-280 (6.5-3.9) with a good 222-72 rush yard edge (6.0-2.0), but only won 28-14. Lamar scored TDs on 3 of thier first 4 drives of the game, but then in the 2H couldn't do much with just one good drive. They had 11 TFLs

Montana led 24-7 HT, but North Dakota owned the 2H and finished with a 37-22 minute TOP edge. Montana went 3-and-out punt on their first 3 poss of the 2H and their 4th and last poss was after UND had taken the 27-24 lead. UND scored on 4 straight 2H possessions, 2 TDs and 2 FGs. Bergen DNP again, but Riley Wilson was back on D this week for Montana. UND QB Romfo was just 11 of 24 for 97y passing, but UND run gain racked up 243y on 49 attempts. UND sacked Griz QBs 6x, Ah Yat was sacked 5x.

Towson beat Morgan 14-9, this was more like a 2023 Morgan State game. Last week Morgan and Hampton combined for 54 pts, but those teams had just 339 and 319 yards respectively. Towson finished with 346, but Morgan had 249 (6.3-4.6 ypp). Morgan got a FG off an INT then didnt't get past the Towson 44 the rest of the 1H. Towson could've had more pts, but failed to finish with SOD at the M07, fum at the M18 and missed FG from the M25

Edinboro outgained Robert Morris 258-224 (3.8-4.6). The difference in their 23-21 win was a 2H safety when a punt was downed at the 1 and their D sacked RM QB the next play. Saw that a few times week 1.

awesome list @sleepy

Mercyhurst was at Howard rather than Wofford

Mercyhurst took the lead in that game 31-27 on a TD with :41 left, but the xpt was blk'd and ran back for 2. That allowed Howard to win with a walkoff FG. Crazy

I am just now starting to look at games for this week.

Here are the Massey PR spreads. The FBS vs FCS lines are already out at some books

I don't know enough about South Alabama, but I think Northwestern State would have remain a play against team. The Tulsa game is what it is, 62-28 - but NW State was outgained by nearly 400y there. Last week they were favored which got bet down a ton and PV ended up with a small upset 37-31. PV outgained them by 189. 14 of NW St's 31 pts were from TWO pick-sixes. Tulsa closed around 37 pt fav, but it could be had for low 30s in the days leading up to the game. This one at 35.5 currently for South Alabama makes it seem pretty high spread and I can't see myself on either one here. 58.5? I don't know what happens with total either

I like Lehigh to have a decent year as they have a bunch of winnable games to start the year for a change and are a veteran team in the second year of the coaching change. I played them both weeks so far. Army scored TD with 19 seconds left for the cover, which maybe they were the right team to cover, but I think Lehigh didn't play awful in that game. They played some incredible D last week vs Wagner and then got an assist from the weather. I think that 49-13 win gives them some momentum as they travel to LIU here. LIU was impressive week 1 vs Albany. Even though Albany is down, LIU shouldn't hang with them and they actually outgained the Danes by 103 yards and limited them to 90y rushing (3.2) - when rushing is something that Albany should still be ok at (good CAA OL and RBs). So I am a little concerned that I don't have a feel for LIU yet and if they are in fact weak NEC team like they normally are. They do have 4 defensive FBS transfers who are in their top 10 tacklers through 2 games and former FSU DL McCormick has 1.5 TFLs and has their only sack on the year so far. I'm not going to lay points like I thought I might with Lehigh, but if I can get them to win or + I'll go for the Mountain Hawks (Sagarin has LIU-.97)

Anytime an FCS plays an FBS I will always be saying I don't know anything about the FBS. I don't watch or look at the scores so I have to essentially learn about that team for the first time anytime an FCS is playing them. Talking here about Morgan at Ohio. I would think Under out of respect for Morgan's D both last year and especially last week they shut down a good Towson offense. And while I thought Morgan's O was better this year, which it might be because it was so bad last year, they have actually benefitted more from favorable field positon they capitalized on for, their O really struggled last week vs Towson - and it was a struggle for them last year. I suppose the fear is that if their O is bad again here vs an FBS D, then the field position for Ohio is going to stress the Under as Bobcats might have good field position throughout. OU has played in some higher scoring games vs FCS recently, however last year, vs the defensively minded and offensively limited Long Island team, that final was just 27-10. I could envision something similar here. Morgan's last game vs FBS they probably shoulda coulda woulda won, but lost at Akron 21-24. Morgan fumbled running out the clock and Akron scooped and scored. OU has more offensive capabilities than Akron. I don't know, the total isn't that high, seeing 46.5 which is lower than the close on both of Morgan's FCS games this year which were 48 vs Hampton (Over) and 49 vs Towson (Under). Morgan only has 319 and 249 TY in their games so far this year so I wouldn't expect them to be moving the ball for many points here. Probably just not betting this unless the total were to go higher or Morgan+ gets bet up

PV and Michigan State, who knows. The line is 40.5 with a total of 50.5. PV isn't awful in SWAC terms but it's SWAC so yeah. They are going to lose big here of course. They also lost to Texas Southern week 1 after having won 9 straight in that series. No interest trying to figure this out.

VMI is playing at Georgia Tech and the line is huge, 42.5 / 56.5. If I had to say here I would say Under, I suppose? VMI never scores a lot, in fact their 28 last week vs Bucknell was just the 3rd time in 2 years they have scored over 23 pts. 7 of those 28 were scored on D via a pick-six. They averaged 15 ppg last year and only managed 7 on William and Mary week 1 wiht 241 TY (4.0). They are normally geared towards D, however this year they are uncharacteristically giving it up 41 pts and 446 (8.0) to W&M and 35 pts and 451 (6.4) to Bucknell last week. Not going well for the Keydets. So actually maybe I don't like the Under? GT in a ACC sandwich, last time it happened for them week 2 they only beat Georgia St 35-12. I don't think this game is of any interest to me.

South Carolina State at Georgia Southern. SC State has a new HC who a lot of people in the HBCU world think pretty highly of, Chennis Berry. He comes over from Dll Benedict. SC State led FAMU 18-7 before losing 18-22 week 1. They beat Citadel 23-20 last week. They probably don't stand to compete well vs GaSo. I really don't know enough about them yet and know nothing about Georgia Southern.

NCCU showed last week that their week 1 win was more about I think Alabama State not being very good compared to NCCU actually being good. They normally are good, but have lost some key pieces and aren't the same team. North Carolina -37.5 I don't think I would play anything here, don't know anything about UNC

Charlotte hosts Gardner Webb and GW just played James Madison last week and Charlotte opened with JMU. The GW-JMU game last week was really weird, just 13-6! GW has really struggled on O, 20 pts and 300y vs Wofford and 2 FGs from 269y last week. Could be an Under assuming the GW O isn't going to do much more than they have so far this year. Scored 20 on Wofford but 3 scoring drives were 32 yards or less. I'd have to assume Charlotte could win by more than a TD and maybe some Under 48.5? Charlotte took care of SC State week 1 last year 24-3 and beat a better GW team 38-10 in 2021. There was of course the ugly home loss to W&M in 2022, but W&M was nothing short of special that season (regular season atleast). 49ers are 0-2 and haven't done much scoring of their own. At Indiana and At Rice on deck would mean this should be a pretty focused week to bag a home win before the 2 game road trip and GW is pretty down compared to where they have been the last few years.

Colgate at Akron I am a little interested in. Colgate 'only' lost to Villanova 3-28 last week. Villanova is everyone's darling in the CAA, but they only scored 7 pts in the 1H and frankly struggled on O there. It was one big play all half then they never moved it past the Colgate 39 the rest of the half. I think Villanova just hasn't gelled with new receivers on O yet and they will be better later in the year than they are now. But being as- that may, Colgate held them to just 279 TY (4.7) including just 132y rushing (4.1) when that should be Nova's strength at this point and that is a week after they also held Maine to 287 TY (4.9). Pretty good for D peformances for them. The offense for Colgate is limited however. Holding Nova to 279 is good but they only put up 264 (3.9) of their own and only 303 at Maine (5.1). 2 TDs at Maine and 1 FG vs Nova. I'm sure Akron will welcome this game and after playing Ohio State and Rutgers their O will face a lot less of a challenge now and things will slow down for the D a lot. Or does playing those Big Ten teams back-to-back leave them a little sore and bruised? Zips haven't blown out their FCS opponents under Moorhead, beat Morgan 24-21 last year as 23 pt fav (like I said they should've lost) and beat St Francis 30-23 in 2022 as 17 pt fav (that game went to OT). So some very narrow escapes vs a MEAC and NEC school, not exactly the top of the FCS foodchain. Maybe somebody here can offer an opinion on Akron?

I don't think anyone wants Bethune +32.5 at Western Mich. I suppose I could lay it with WM, but how these games go in the 2H is hard to predict. Maybe play W Mich 1H, but if Bethune gets a fluke score than covering that gets a little iffy. Pass.

I think I could like Eastern Illinois at Northwestern +24.5. Have to admit I am a little gun shy after having claimed they could hang with Illinois week 1 and was the biggest miss of any opinion I've had this year since they lost by 45 in a shutout and were outgained by nearly 300y 486-196 (6.8-3.6). EIU hadn't stepped up vs a team like that yet and they weren't ready. Maybe Illinois isn't all that much better than Northwestern but do think Illini have higher caliber athletes and more capable of outclassing an FCS than NW. Different coaching staff and likely different players at this point, but NW did lose at home to SIU in 2022. NW didn't show so well vs Miami, Oh 13-6 win with a 328-267 yard edge. Seeing this total is actually 36.5? Wow. EIU does not have a very explosive O and they usually have to grind their drives out. I do wonder how getting embarrased vs a Big Ten team 2 weeks ago might play a role here. Will it make NW come in with a B game possibly off the Duke loss with Big Ten opener on deck? Will it have EIU bring as much as they summon up knowing how poor they were week 1 and want to prove that they aren't as bad as that 45-0 result? I don't know. I'm tempted to take EIU. What are your thoughts on Northwestern?

I really want to get off the FBS - FBS games at this point. Only other one is UNI. No clue. Nebraska off CU which is big let down. Have to think UNI was looking ahead to this game becaue there is no explainable reason they nearly lost at St Thomas. But this is college football. A lot of unexplainable things happen.

After missing last Saturday’s game at Texas A&M with an ankle injury, Clifton McDowell was back at quarterback Tuesday for the Cowboys. The senior transfer from Montana took his usual number of first-team snaps during a morning practice as McNeese State started preparations for its first conference opener

It’s Wednesday night and FCS-FCS lines are coming out right now on FamDuel

UC Davis jumped from an early -3.5 to -6.5 at Southern Utah. I get that on one hand. I’ve been supporting Davis. However they haven’t been so good. Played 2 good quarters out of 8 this year and I thought they had some struggles with AM Commerce, a team they hammered last year. This is actually a positive indicator for AM Commerce who I like this week. But Davis has not lived up to expectations through 2 weeks. Southern Utah is just a tough team. Let that line go higher please

you can thank me and Bridge1 for that. we both hit that line hard
SUU cannot pass, and UC Davis is very tough against the run, shutting down Cal. hard to explain the UCD pass defense against A&M Commerce, but UC Davis is the better team and should win this game by more than 7

campbell +4.5/ML has to be considered. their physical athletic skill guys were such a problem for WCU...Eeeks how is RI going to match up

youngstown state defense is of concern also as they could not stop valpo for long stretches. very concerning there.

just my thought. have to lean over. VMI likely to provide little to no resistance against GT offense who should score and score often here. last 4 times GT has faced an FCS- 1-3 ATS and allowed multiple TDs each time out. can see them working deep into the roster on defense to get some guys some much needed work here, finally an exhale spot for them before a massive revenge game at louisville. against Georgia State the panthers has first and goal three times, only managed three points. one of those instances was the first drive of the game...first and goal on the 1 inch line, couldnt punch it in...would have certainly changed the complexion of the contest. the last one. first and goal at the 7 in the 4th, couldnt punch it in for the cover!! did not kick a FG either, unreal.

could see GT putting up a 52-14 type game, not covering but game goes over.

Davis does have good run D. Surprised their O couldn’t score TD on 3 RZ trips vs Commerce 1H. Davis OL isn’t opening holes. Larison getting his on his own. Feels strange for me to abandon Davis but I think this could be tough game. Offense not as good as I thought for them.

Agree. Don’t like Campbell QB but those receivers, if he can get the ball close to them they can get it. Very very impressed with new staff (was at Campbell to HCU then came bs k for HC) - really like their D. WCU O was dumbfounded bs them last week

A lot of these games the FBS favorite gets close to or gets the Over themselves. So that is good point.

ACU from 12.5 to 14.5 at NoCo. I took my smallest bet on ACU but feels a little weird. Not like NoCo good, they’re bad, but do sense a little improvement there this year

Indiana St-11.5 vs Dayton. Was hoping for less but they probably still cover that

Montana-33.5. Big but can only see a comfortable win by Griz vs Morehead

Indiana St dropped to -10.5

Samford -7.5 and ML. Have some thoughts on that to share later

West Georgia QB hurt last week. Alabama A&M Casey is backup. Runner.

No real opinion but interesting game. Heritage has EKU-9.5. No idea if they are any good. Home opener off two FBS games

Illinois St-34.5. How can’t I? Its Western Illinois and IllSt has the run game and D to do it

Montana up to 36.5.

On my phone. Hate that. Who’d a thought Wednesday would be so busy. Sorry honey

morehead state is atrocious. cannot see a path to them holding montana under 52 points here. Grizz should find it MUCH easier to gain margin against this lesser foe...

Have to lay it with the grizz.

Samford is mostly a fade of Alabama State. Real line -7.5, Massey shows this line at 20.5. Sagarin has -4.2. ASU had a big offseason transfer signing in QB Andrew Body. He got hurt week 1. They were rotating him with O’Brien who was an EIU transfer. This made zero sense because if O’Brien was better at something that Body was fine. Body is more of a runner. But O’Brien was not good passing (5-11-61-0-2 sacked 4x vs NCCU). Then last week vs Miles, ASU used two other QBs – those QBs completed just 5-12-88-2-1 and neither was running. Last year they lost to Miles, so atleast they won this year. Don’t know what happened to O’Brien and don’t care really. They have played 4 QBs in two games this year. Unless it is Body is at QB that offense has no chance. Body is OFY with shoulder surgery. I think Samford ran into a highly motivated West Georgia team wanting to make a statement at home week 1 in their FCS debut and Samford took that game for granted perhaps.. Last week wasn’t going to go well at Florida, and Gators probably should’ve won by more than 38 actually. Anyway, ASU played a lot of close low scoring games last year vs other HBCUs. They didn’t play anyone from a good FCS conference like Samford is out of the SoCon. I’m buying Samford in a get-right game and home opener with bye on deck vs a not so good Alabama State team.

Central Arkansas squeaked out a cover last week at Lindenwood. Maybe they were hungover from having their hearts ripped out the week before at Ark State. Understandable. Now they get to play their first home game and face Austin Peay who has been a wreck this year with all their coaches and players gone from last year (10 O starters gone and 13 of top 14 tacklers gone). AP kind of looked like they played ok vs Southern Illinois last week as a 9 pt home dog losing just 17-31and were only outgained 360-385 (5.1-5.3), but SIU was playing without their top 2 CBs and a top S which I have to assume made things a little easier for them. And SIU ran for 200+ on them (5.1). UCA has a lot of pieces like RB Powell is #2 NCAA with 151 ypg and QB McElvain is top 25 pass eff. Good OL. DE David Walker will be in the NFL next year (2x league D POY). Decent D when they play weaker teams. Have 9 sacks on the year and in two games Austin Peay has given up 14 sacks (7 each vs Louisville and Southern Ill). UCA outgained Ark St slightly (+5y) and massively at Lindenwood (+296y). Odds may still be catching up to the correction necessary on Austin Peay after last year’s playoff team to what they are fielding now. UCA was +6.5 last year at AP in the finale. Had they won they would’ve won a share of the conference title at 5-1. Not sure who the automatic bid would’ve went to but losing a share of the conference title to AP who then won it outright - I am sure that has been on UCA's minds this offseason and they want some revenge. Last year was their first ever loss to AP all since 2019.

Wonder if they will all go up tonight?

A few more were posted. I've been up for about half hour. First thing I did was take the A&M Commerce ML -125 when they were a 2.5 pt favorite. Now some 20 minutes later they are -3.5. Some of the older ones moved overnight too. Heritage took their FCS lines down for now.
