NL Central
(in order of how I like them)
Cubs over
Pirates under
Brewers under
Cardinals over
Reds under

Fondy, I lean Cubs over because I think they are loaded with talent, I just don't know if all the young guys can all put it together this year. They're gonna be real fun to watch though.

I like the Braves but they are the only team in the division who got worse this offseason imo. Gonna be an ugly season

Twins over jumped out at me right away. Was hoping to see the Mets and Marlins both drop in the upper 70s rather than where they did as they were over leans for me. I am pretty high on Toronto this year am would lean to them at that number. Other first-glance over leans would be the Rangers, Astros and Athletics. Being that those three are all in the same division, I'll have to dig into the numbers a bit more and re-evaluate. If the Rockies are still sitting at 70.5 when I am ready to make plays, it's going to be tough for me to lay off that over. They'll be bad, but I don't think 71 wins is too tall of a task.

First glance under leans: Royals, Orioles, Red Sox, maybe Tigers.

I've been doing these since 2011 and tend to be pretty heavy on unders and play few overs. A bit surprised that I am showing such an initial slant toward quite a few overs. Looking forward to the season!

Things still have to go pretty well for the Cubs to win in the 80s. Sure if Bryant and Soler are above avg players and Arrieta and Hammel have something close to a repeat of last year, then yeah, I think they win in the 80s. But that's a lot of buts. Baez is a total question mark at this point and they're going to strike out a ton again. A lot of unknowns, so a very high variance team.

I don't think the Phils are better. Ruben Amaro is running that team into the ground IMO. If he doesn't trade Hamels, he should be fired. He should have traded him already with taking Howard's salary as a contingency. Now Howard has 10/5 rights. He will either need to deal the remaining talent (Hammels, Lee, Utley) or watch it get worse. I think some how, some way, the braves finish ahead of Phili. I think Phils will be really bad this year.

Just got the Hilton Total's from here in Vegas there's a lot of differences and of course it's the ones I like that went against me already. Under K.CITY 83 well the Hilton has 79

I'd lean Braves under. Division should be better and I wouldn't be surprised if they dumped more players at the deadline like Kimbrel.

Nats went 96-66 last year and got better in the pitching department...they lost laroche I think to the offseason and looks like zimmerman moves to first while rendon stays at third, want to play over

Jays over - Russ makes a huge difference for the pitchers and just overall voice, adding donaldson and taking out lwrie is a + in my books - can they stay healthy? were in the thick of things until Edwin went down

M's over 85 as well

Top of head thoughts:

Under:
Bal
ChiSox
Detroit
KC (wow, the entire AL Central, lol)
Pitt

Over:
Hou
TB
Texas

If these three are all going under, I smell playoffs for the Tribe.

I project a tight race with the top 3 teams all around .500. KC and Minny well below .t00

Essentially, I expect the AL West to have every team but Houston above .500. I think the AL Central is weak this year.

a Tulo trade would be a game-changer, though i guess he's hurt all the time anyways so maybe it would get them new players for his absence

i came into this thinking I wanted a Padres under and Marlins over play though i have not shopped for numbers yet

to each his own, i suppose...If Cincy can stay relatively healthy at all this year, they should be way better than 14'. Losing Latos should sting a little, but he only started 16 games ly. The offense should be way improved, bullpen is solid. If they can get some decent production out of the back of the rotation this team should be pretty competitive

I predict the reds will be big-time sellers by the all-star break and I will be very surprised if they win 80 games this season.

I like picking up the bats of Sandoval and Hanley but i'm not thrilled about their current starting rotation: Buchholz, Masterson, Miley, Porcello, and Joe Kelly. No real stud ace that sticks out.

How bout this rotation, the Nats are stacked: Mad Max, Strasburg, Jordan Zimmerman, Gio Gonzalez, and Doug Fister. Hence the high season wins total.

just a general baseball statement. i think, like you stated earlier, they'll have to outscore teams and win high scoring games rather then win low scoring games. none of those pitchers I posted had ERA's in the 2's last year. they were more closer to 4 with 3.94, 3.95, 3.73, 3.64 and 4.24 respectively.

Cubs, Indians, Mets and Reds are biggest MLB season win totals moves

Chicago Cubs (Open 81.5, Move 83)

According to Steve Mikkelson, sportsbook director at the Atlanta Casino Resort in Reno, the first book to open MLB season win totals, the Cubs have taken a ton of action on the Over after making a splash this offseason, moving their win total as high as 84 before buyback on the Under trimmed that number to 83 wins.

“Good action so far, more on the Over to this point,” says Mikkelson. “Public is all in on the Cubs this year which is driving this number.”

St. Louis Cardinals (Open 88, Move 89)

The Cardinals are perennial National League contenders in a very competitive NL Central. According to Peter Childs of Sportsbook.ag, a big bet on the Over immediately boosted this total but outside of that, smaller wagers are taking St. Louis Under.

“We’ll get down to 88.5 soon, but we’re always aggressive with our initial line moves on these season specials because more times than not, once a popular side gets bet like a Cardinals team Over, it’s tough to get buy back on the Under,” says Childs.

Cleveland Indians (Open 81, Move 85)

The Indians made serious improvements last season, finishing 2014 at 85-77. Oddsmakers came in lower to open the Tribe’s 2015 win total, and were hammered with money on Cleveland Over. This total has been pumped up as many as four wins as of this weekend.

“I just missed on this one, as everyone believes they are much better than I did and keep betting the Over,” says Mikkelson.

Kansas City Royals (Open 79.5, Move 80.5)

Some books in Nevada opened 79.5 on the Royals, while others stayed high and posted 80.5 for Kansas City, which is coming off an 89-73 renaissance of a season in 2014. Money hit the Over, forcing adjustments in both markets.

“Since we opened high, I’m not going to be that aggressive moving off that early initial action because it was expected but we did go from 80.5 (Even) to 80.5 Over (-130),” says Childs.

Cincinnati Reds (Open 79, Move 77.5)

The Reds appear bound for a letdown as the rest of the NL Central goes up, according to the early action on the Under Cincinnati’s season win total. The Reds dealt pitchers Mat Latos and Alfredo Simon this offseason, and rumors of a fire sale are buzzing as spring training approaches.

“I guess they feel someone in this division has to lose, and the Reds didn’t instill confidence by trading away two of their starters,” says Mikkelson.

New York Mets (Open 82, Move 82.5)

The National League East belongs to the Washington Nationals (who have seen their win total climb as well) but the battle for second in the division is up for grabs. Atlanta seems in rebuild mode, Philadelphia is selling off its roster and Miami is a wild card. That has early money believing in the Mets improving on a 79-win season in 2014.

“It’s been all Over money so far,” says Childs. “We got to 82.5 pretty quickly and did book some sharp action Under 82.5 but not enough to get us to move off that one sharp bet. If we take more sharp Under action, we’ll move it back to 82 (Even).”

Oakland A’s (Open 82.5, Move 82)

In Reno, odds on the Athletics and Giants (Open 85, Move 84) are a bit skewed when compared to everywhere else, due to the amount of tourist traffic from the Bay Area. Oakland has drawn the expected Over money from A’s fans but this number has been trimmed half a win since opening.

“By far the most interesting of the teams, as we just keep taking public money Over, then smarter money Under,” he says.

You see anything you like early bloody? Even though it's exciting to think baseball is near, this stuff is so hard to predict this early.

Thanks for posting.

I hate to agree, but do on the Tigers under. I feel more like 82-80 but under the number.

i would call myself a Red Sox fan above anything else, but I like under.

I don't have any faith in the rotation, though Farrell is as good as any to get them pitching like the best in their careers, but I'm not sure anyone is reliable.

Porcello was better than expected last year, but 6.41 ERA/1.48 WHIP career at Fenway doesn't look so nice even if he's going to perform better at his home park than as a visitor. Miley came from a great hitter's park as well, but the space he had makes it a different type of place than Fenway and he's never thrown a pitch there. Buchholz is about as consistent as the weather and has a bad injury history, Kelly similar with consistency problems though once he puts his stuff together he could be the ace of this rotation. Masterson had a bad knee last year (I guess), but he was really bad then we go straight to minor leaguers as support unless average Workman leaves the pen.

Do we expect Uehara to bounce-back? I'd assume so, but it's hard to project that he will be dominant like he was when they won the World Series two years ago. Tazawa is solid but who knows what's left in his arm, Breslow is a huge question as a lefty and what will Robbie Ross do if he has to take on that role? I really like Ogando, but he's got a history of arm problems and being stuck between the rotation and the bullpen. Does he possibly fill in if a SP gets hurt or struggles? Mujica is solid but aging like Tazawa, Varvaro very young but with a live arm.

And then we get to the hitters. Pablo looks fat, Hanley can slump big time and who knows if he has any clue how to play LF. I don't trust Bogaerts to hit, Holt can't possibly re-do what he did last year (prime sophomore slump candidate) and will Allen Craig ever become what he was in that StL playoff run? Victorino can't be counted on for a full season, we don't know what we're getting with Castillo and Betts didn't impress me much. Vazquez is an automatic out at home plate, Ortiz isn't getting younger and is Mike Napoli ever going to recreate what he did in 2013?

There is definitely a mystique about Fenway as they score runs there and win games that they probably shouldn't, but there are a lot of guys who I can't expect to be the same, productive player they were. Add in the Boston media who really affect the team more than any market in the league i think, which will be new even for Sandoval/Hanley coming from playoff races out west.

Not sure will put up 2013 numbers ever again:
Napoli
Breslow
Uehara
Craig (StL 2012)
Holt (2014)

New environment:
Porcello
Hanley
Sandoval
Miley

No clue what to expect:
Castillo
Betts

Injury risk:
Ortiz
Victorino
Buchholz

Ortiz
Victorino
Buchholz

I know you are fan...:) As am I.

I don't need the team to be 2013, just don't need them to be 2014..
You could be everyone on the injury risk list...
Pablo being fat... really dont see any differnece over the last few years ( ya i saw the picture) .. bad angle..
You didn't mention a healthy Pedroi or Napoli.... the pitching doesnt need to dominate, just give them a chance....
After they traded Lester it was about showcasing youth - if they are in the hunt for the wildcard or better the last 50 games mean something. and if they go .500 it gives me 25 more wins than the 71 from last year...

If they go .500 that's not 25 wins more than 71...wouldn't it be 10 more wins (81-81), and be a losing over bet for the season win total? I very well may have misunderstood what you meant with them going .500 as you may have been talking about going .500 over the last 50 games or something, but still don't see how it's 25 more wins than the 71 from last year.

This ....

Fuzzy math...
point being they will try harder to win games vs. just letting rookies get ab's and pitch over the course of the last 50+ games...and they would have more wins than last year approaching the trade deadline if they were in contention..
