Lakers in B2B in Denver, after very close and emotional game in Dallas tonight.
Hope they pull it off, but the odds aren't in their favor...

Big Plays. Interesting. My first lean is Detroit. This seems a likely bet for me but will need to read more. I will be looking very carefully at the Lakers tomorrow.

This was not coming through clearly before Denver at home on Monday through 2012

Why Detroit tuck? Hawks won 4 in 5 games and won the last two, since the trade deadline passed, including not an easy win in Milwaukee.

Also, Boston are 0 - 3 ATS and SU this season, playing B2B when both games are on the road (lost to Spurs, Kings and the Lakers).

Big Plays. Interesting. My first lean is Detroit. This seems a likely bet for me but will need to read more. I will be looking very carefully at the Lakers tomorrow.

Just my opinion but I'd stay away from pistons. That team is a mess. I think they have really mailed it in. I get some pretty good intel on the team (don't want to post how or exactly what I hear) and what I hear + I see the last few nights I am staying awy or fading until I see otherwise.

Lakers away on Monday not pretty

Tend to think anyone with working eyes can see why I am interested in Detroit tomorrow.

Just my opinion but I'd stay away from pistons. That team is a mess. I think they have really mailed it in. I get some pretty good intel on the team (don't want to post how or exactly what I hear) and what I hear + I see the last few nights I am staying awy or fading until I see otherwise.
You see that is your opinion. I try not to start with opinions. Those gamelogs are not an opinion. They are a clear reflection of reality. Atlanta after 2 ATS covers has been a disaster. Detroit after 2 ATS losses has been solid gold.

The simple fact is Lakers are playing at Denver with major revenge. Not because Denver won at Lakers but because of the Laker players who were injured in that game and this Laker team is now 5-2 away and generally has been playing better than Denver who has won mostly cheap wins in good spots as opposed to the Laker wins at Nets and Dallas. But the Laker road woes on Monday is even worse then Denver at home on Monday. Will need to think and read more.

Interesting so the Lakers walked on a 12-0 ATS trend today

But tuck, I think that Hawks changed after trade deadline. Before that, everyone on the team could have left in any second. Adding to that, the fact that the entire roster was made from expiring contract (minus Horford), we get a bunch of players with future unknown.
Now they know that they will all stay Hawks till the end of the season and need to take care of their contracts.

Also, Hawks came really close to 5 games ATS run. They played really well against the Heat most of the game and only fourth quarter of the Heat, that have won it 40 - 17 (!) made Hawks not only to lose the game, but fail to cover as well.

I have no intention of playing the Hawks, just don't think that Detroit has any value.
Good luck with your play!

As for the Lakers, good point about the revenge. The game got a bit chippy in LA.
Lakers (Kobe) are on a mission right now, so I doubt they will take any games off.

One very interesting trend - Lakers are 5 - 1 ATS playing B2B when both games are on the road.

Not sure if that's enough for me to bet the Lakers though.

The lakers generally have been playing better than Denver?

I must be watching a different league plus from what I remember kobe and the lakers don't like playing in Denver very much.

Galo might be out. Lawson is gonna abuse Steve Nash. Hopefully.

Denver has not been playing very well in their last 5 games. Before that they got Chicago playing crazy. Almost lost to the Bucks at home

Played well at Cleveland and ultimately covered at home vs Hornets because the Hornets were very tired, in a losing streak and opted to save energy for the worst 5 in 7 game at Minn. The point about Lakers at Denver having real trouble is very real. By comparision winning at Dallas has been a walk in the park. A lot of my optimism about the Lakers was basd on Denvers hopeless home record on Monday. Then I saw how bad the Lakers have been playing on the road on Monday. Bottom line is Denver has been playing bad but the Lakers may opt for resting the starters and trying to win the next 2 home games. They are the older team.
Also thinking more about the Detroit game.
There are ats losses and there are ATS LOSSES. Losing by 18 at home is really pretty bad and it may be very hard to bounce back. I am back to the drawing board currently.

Jazz is locked in at -7 even.

last game of a west coast road trip, b2b in Utah after a hard fought loss. Utah coming off a loss and solid at home. Expect the jazz to pull away late.

ATS: 137-95-7 (+49.9)
OU: 72-62-2 (+2.5)
ML dogs: 5-9 (+2.6)

Nuggets

The Lakers got a huge emotional win yesterday. They had to play a great game to beat the Mavs. They were 13-25 from three point range, and Kobe carried them. Teams coming off a road win where they attempted 12 or more three pointers and shot better than 50% from long range are 10-43 SU (-10.1 ppg) and 19-34 ATS when playing on the road as a dog of 4 or more vs a conference opponent since the 2005 season. Kobe was unbelievable in the game last night. He certainly silenced Cuban and his amnesty comments. Tonight, Kobe cannot single handedly beat the Nuggets. They have a great one-on-one defender in Iguodala, and the Nuggets have a deep lineup that will never let up off the pedal.

The Lakers are just 2-11 SU against the top five teams in the Western Conference this season. The Lakers have an eight man rotation. They have the third worst bench in the league, and that is based on season long (while now they are missing even more depth). They are calling on their aging starters to play long minutes. The Lakers played in Denver on no rest earlier this season, and the Nuggets dropped 126 on them and beat them by twelve. Teams playing their third game in four days on no rest as a road dog in Denver 1-15 SU (-12.6) and 5-10-1 ATS since the 2010 season. Teams playing their fourth in seven at Denver with no rest are just 4-35 SU (-13.2 ppg) and 13-24-2 ATS since the 2009 season (I used four in seven because it gave a wider range of results than 4 in 6).

Denver is a tough place to play. The Nuggets push the pace even better at home than they do on the road. They are 23-3 at home this season, and they outscore their opponents at home by well over 9 points per 100 possessions. Most likely due to their pace and partly due to the altitude, their defense is better at home as well - 5 points per 100 possessions better, they force 2% more turnovers at home (which is a jump from 24th on the road in the league to 3rd at home). Since the start of 2013, they have forced their opponents into 16.9 turnovers per game, which leads to a lot of fast break points. The lead the league in fast break points since the calendar year 2013. The Lakers are fifth to last in the league in turnovers per game, and that may be problematic tonight against Denver.

The Nuggets play a relentless style and are constantly attacking the rim. The Nuggets have a huge edge at home, and they want to secure a first round playoff series at home. I think they are fully capable of catching up to Memphis, but they need to win every game, especially every home game.

When Kobe guaranteed the Laker’s playoff berth, he named some teams that he wasn’t afraid of facing in the playoffs : “It's not a question of if we make the playoffs. We will. And when we get there, I have no fear of anyone — Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Denver ... whoever. I have zero nervousness about that.”

Tonight, the Nuggets might just inject a little fear into the fearless.

Nuggets -6.5 x2

Good luck...

Fully agree with HH on Kobe. The mamba made a statement yesterday but he cannot beat the nuggets with the way he played yesterday. He cannot try to take the same amount of shots. Joe Crawford in Denver as well. Not sure if that's good or bad.

Dwight said himself he gets winded quickly. Nash has back issues right now. Road b2b in Denver, lakers no bench facing a 10 deep squad that runs 2nd fastest pace in the league. The lakers should get handled tonight.

Just wish the game yesterday was at night instead of early afternoon. But it still shouldn't matter. The jumpers aren't gonna be falling as easily tonight.

Also re: Lakers revenge-this is a 28-29 team we're talking about. They're going to play 2 "revenge" games every week on average for the rest of the season, it's a non factor.

Denver 42-8 SU when facing a team on zero days rest at home. Not sure of the ATS record...

5 - 2 ATS wise this season (SU also 5 - 2):

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma City Thunder signed veteran Derek Fisher on Monday, filling an opening for a third point guard that was created when Eric Maynor got traded to Portland.
Fisher joins Oklahoma City for the stretch run for the second straight season. He played in 20 regular-season games and then all 20 playoff games last season. He has not played in the NBA this season after being unsigned as a free agent during the offseason.
Fisher won five NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers before getting traded to Houston last season, then buying his way out of his contract with the Rockets.
Fisher is also the president of the NBA Players Association, which recently ousted longtime executive director Billy Hunter.

Developing something of a lean to Boston. At least Denver is a real team unfortunately stuck with a clown coach. Just a personal fact I have never been able to take this Utah team seriously.

Very impressive.

Also re: Lakers revenge-this is a 28-29 team we're talking about. They're going to play 2 "revenge" games every week on average for the rest of the season, it's a non factor.

agree...however..Kobe circles the Denver games

Not betting the Lakers currently but think its actually close. Lakers extended earlier rest plus 2 days off after this game favors their position. Denver not taking Boston out earlier on a good day of the week ---:searching::searching:

Just for a minute lets be serious. There are really not that many revenge games. A team beats you in your house by a lot that tends to be a revenge game unless you are one of the doormat teams like the Suns. But when a team comes in and Punches Pau in the nose taking him out of commision for a while and they then win a close game at your house well that is a Revenge game. Not hard to understand. Today iseems to me to be a low equity day almost regardless of the team you take. That opinion may change

Noticed that Atlanta on the road with these refs was 1-9. Took Detroit plus 3.5
As well as Washington plus 5.5

they have lost 7 of their last 10 in denver... i am hoping kobe is circling this game and will try to put up points on his own but i think he will be a little more of a facilitator tonight

It's springtime in 2043, and a father and son decide to go on a trip. They pack up their hovercraft and head to Springfield, Mass., to visit the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Dad wants to teach his son about the stars from his childhood, so he shows him exhibits about Hall of Famers such as Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol and Steve Nash.
"And you wouldn't believe this," the father says. "In 2013, they were all on the same team!"
"Are you kidding me?" the son says. "Four Hall of Famers? Surely they won the NBA championship. Did they win every single game that season?"
"Actually, son, they didn't even make the playoffs."
With only 25 games left, the Los Angeles Lakers wouldn't make the playoffs
Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard. (Reuters file photo)

if the season ended now. Hollywood, it seems, has churned out another horror show. The show's on display Monday in Denver at the Pepsi Center."
"I think the whole thing for me is, the fragility of an NBA team is based upon your team's togetherness and chemistry as much as it is on your team's talent," said Nuggets coach George Karl, who has lost three recent playoff series to the Lakers, the team he said on media day he despises. "I think Nash getting hurt early hurt them. Now the Gasol injury has hurt them, and because of all that, I don't think they've ever gotten connected in a confident way.
"I don't know how many wins it will take them, but it will be interesting to see if they can get in (the playoffs). You've got a team that will play desperate the rest of the way. Talented players — they might not get along — but they have a way, when they're desperate, to figure out how to like each other."
Watch the Lakers lose and it appears they don't know one another, let alone like. Nash, even in a familiar offense, can't seem to maximize role players (the Los Angeles bench is bad). Also, Nash and Howard, who's not playing at 100 percent, seldom click with the pick.
"We'd like to get him in the pick-and-roll more," Nash told The Orange County Register. "That's how he was really good in Orlando. He'd pick and he'd dive, and they'd swing and put it in to him, so he could get deeper catches and the help side has a more difficult time coming to him.
"It's been difficult, really, to get him into that game, running into pick-and-rolls, diving hard, looking for the ball. We really haven't found that rhythm from him yet."
Then there's Bryant. This was supposed to be his quest for a sixth championship ring, his foray toward Michael Jordan. Bryant added the Jordan-era equivalent of John Stockton and David Robinson to do just that. But this might be the season that besmirches Bryant's legacy. He has tried everything.
[h=1]Blog: Nuggets Ink[/h] The Denver Post's Benjamin Hochman posts analysis, notes and more on this blog focusing on the Denver Nuggets.

He led the league in scoring early in the season. Then he went on an assists rampage, trying to prove he could be a facilitator. He has complained, seethed, scowled and even tweeted for the first time. Nothing has consistently worked. But the Lakers have begun to play better. Still, they continue to lose to good teams, although they have a recent win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. In the past month, the Lakers have lost to the Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat (twice).
"I'm surprised where they are right now, but I still have a feeling that they'll make the playoffs," Nuggets guard Ty Lawson said of the Lakers. "They'll be a tough out at the eighth or seventh seed (in the West). I think they'll make a little bit of noise, because the first and second seeds aren't going to want to play them."
Bryant thinks so too. Bryant told Sports Illustrated the Lakers would make the playoffs and that he doesn't fear any team in the Western Conference. Is it another tactic? A prideful prediction? Or will the proclamation just be another in a series of dubious moments in the most surprising season in NBA history?
There is some hoops hope. The Lakers, once 17-25, have won 11 of their past 15 games, including Sunday's national-TV win vs. Dallas.
Leave it to former NBA star Charles Barkley to sum it up.
"The Lakers are old, and they are not going to make the playoffs," the TNT analyst said last week. "If by happenstance they do make the playoffs, they're going to get beat like a drum in the first round."

Tall task for LA indeed. B2b's in Denver are usually a nightmare for opposing team. Obviously a big part of that is the altitude and the style of play from Denver. Another equally large part is that normally teams don't get to their hotel's until extremely late. The Pepsi Center is quite a drive from the airport and most times teams played at night the day before and have a long late flight coupled with a long drive and the result is 3-4 am bed time in a different time zone.

LA's advantage here is that they played VERY EARLY in the day yesterday. They got in during the day. They have had well over 24 hours to rest where a most teams on a b2b get significantly less than 24 hours rest. Also from Dallas to Denver isn't a long flight. Another thing.... Denver(and even Lubbock where I'm at) is under a blizzard and completely snowed in. I can guarantee you that the team didn't go out or anything like that-they probably did something TOGETHER and stayed in the hotel. This kinds of things might seem small but they help a team focus and give their best effort the next day.

I am a Laker fan. I have rarely backed my team this year, I've actually made good money fading them in the past. But it's clear to me the Buss death has galvanized this team. They are cohesive. They are together. The way the ball is moving on offense is a thing of beauty. They are playing almost perfect basketball offensively. I'm hearing Steve Nash has a bad back but he just had his best game I've seen all year yesterday. The Lakers have solidified their rotation to just 8 guys. Blake, Meeks, and Jamison- all adept 3 point shooters. It took a long time but Dantoni finally has a trusted rotation where everyone knows their roles and their minutes. Dwight is in much better shape. The team's defense is improving. Their PPP on defense has improved dramatically in the last couple weeks.

They have also found their identity. Style wise watching the Mavs game they actually slowed the pace and did 1 of 2 things. They ran pick n roll with Nash. They went to Dwight and played inside out basketball. They had excellent shot selection. They actually didn't shoot the ball all that well besides Kobe hitting some crazy shots- but their looks were great. Nash was really good looking for his own shot. The Mavericks under Carlisle have always been one of the better rotating teams in the league. The Lakers made them look silly with crisp quick passes and unselfishness.

Kobe is officially red hot. Not warm or kinda of hot. Like Smoldering, ridiculous can't be guarded hot. I have watched him for 16 years I know his game. He is streaky. When he gets on streaks like this he stays hot for awhile. Same thing when he slumps, he slumps for awhile. He had that look in his eyes and he isn't missing. He can't be guarded right now.

The Lakers as I mentioned didn't have a great overall offensive performance and are actually due for a BOUNCEBACK offensive performance tonight in my opinion.

I expect, especially given the b2b for LA to slow it down like they did against the Mavs. LA has 2 huge mismatches. Denver doesn't have anyone to guard Dwight. Iggy struggles with Kobe always has. Brewer is tiny and gets posted up. Denver always goes small against LA and Karl is an idiot. Small ball will not work against this Laker team tonight. You will frequently see Andre Miller guarding Kobe tonight lol. World Peace has always guarded Gallinari well. He's in his head in my opinion. I mentioned the mismatches but there is another big reason I like LA. When it comes to double teaming George Karl is the dumbest coach in the NBA. He doesn't disguise it, he brings obvious double teams that Dwight and Kobe can read easily. If Nash is at the top of the key and Kobe or Dwight are on the block then one of Denver's guards will run down to the block and leave Steve Blake or Nash wide open for 3's. It is stupid but it will happen. Always does. Don't be surprised to see a lot of "George Karl is an idiot" threads after tonight lol.

I have touched on this before-especially when I had large wagers on the Pacers and Blazers playing in Denver but the Nuggets are soooo bad rotating defensively. Ball movement kills them. They gamble, they over help, their d collapses, they chase people they don't defend people-it's bad bad bad defensive basketball-despite the fact they have some good individual defenders. Their defensive scheme is awful. They are DEAD LAST IN THE NBA in spot up defense. This is not a fluke. This is under normal circumstances without having to actually double team anyone which they WILL HAVE TO do tonight. LA is going to be getting easy 3's tonight. Their offensive chemistry is through the roof right now and they are playing a team that is horrible on defense.

I have no idea how Nash is going to defend Lawson 1 on 1 it will have to be a team effort. But if the Lakers can make him beat them with jumpshots they will win. The Nuggets dont have great 3 point shooters on their teams so they can clog the paint a little more than they could if they were playing a great 3 point shooting team. I'm not worried about Brewer, or IGGy, or Miller, or Lawson shooting 3's. Nugget's are really bad at the free throw line too.

Earl Clark is gonna do his thing tonight-WATCH. He will make Faried come way out and guard him on the perimeter and that will open up the interior for Nash to penetrate. The Lakers are big enough to keep the Nuggets off the glass with Dwight. Lakers aren't a great transition defense but if they slow the pace like I think they will and get good shots like I think they will they will keep the Nuggets out of transition.

Lots of intangibles in play tonight. Don't think the market has caught up to how well LA is playing since the death of their owner. I think my Lakers take it. Ball movement on offense the difference.

Swoles is a fairly smart dude but it's all paralysis by analysis this season. No doubt having the Lakers in the playoffs is good for the league. Stern gonna go out with a bang, guaranteed...

Saw a interesting write up at Covers. That 72% scares me though.

Yeah just a little... lakers were getting 70% yesterday as well but that line couldn't budge much from where it was set. Dont think they could have opened the mavs at a lower number... and i dont know about tonights line... had this been in LA, the lakers would be a 1-2 pt fav? Denver def gets a bit more than the usual HCA

as for the write up from swoles, he makes some solid points for sure, im not really sure about iggy having trouble with iggy...

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Fisher joins Oklahoma City for the stretch run for the second straight season. He played in 20 regular-season games and then all 20 playoff games last season. He has not played in the NBA this season after being unsigned as a free agent during the offseason.

Unbelievable. Who is this clown?

Detroit will be without backup point guard Will Bynum, who must serve a one-game league suspension for striking Indiana’s Tyler Hansbrough on Saturday. Brandon Knight will miss his third consecutive game with a hyperextended right knee. Rodney Stuckey will see more time at the point as well as starting at shooting guard. Rookie Kim English will get more minutes and starting forward Kyle Singler will see some time in shooting guard.
Second-round pick Khris Middleton has averaged 9.5 points the last two games and will continue to see action as the backup small forward. “Khris was really the only guy who hadn’t gotten a chance and I think he did very well,” Detroit coach Lawrence Frank said. “Any time you’re throwing someone into the fire, there’s got to be a grace period to get their feet wet and understand the intensity level that’s required.”
The Hawks have everyone available except Lou Williams (knee surgery).
Center Al Horford is averaging 24.2 points and 10.0 rebounds the last five games. “He’s really been aggressive on the offensive end, he’s really looking for his shot,” coach Larry Drew said. “He’s in a pretty good rhythm right now and defensively, he’s very active. When he’s that active on both ends of the floor, he’s fun to coach and fun to watch.”
