Agree with what BC said yesterday re Baltimore regressing offensively, but I think you've got to consider the Over tonight. 8 straight for Marquez, Boston 7-2 to Over in Buchholz's road starts, Waters doesn't hurt either.

Have to like the O's over tomorrow....Waters and Buchholz are vulnerable and Marquez has 9 straight overs behind the plate including Liriano and Greainke in his last.

Interesting game I think. Clay has the NO NO on his resume vs Balt so they are hi steam of prefence from what I recall in hsi few outings . Waters does he succeed vs Boston who looks vulnerable to me vs LHP ..?? Just a con arguement ...:shake:

Also MILW ML ......Parra gets the W here..:cheers:STRONG PLAY with or w/o Braun.

Baltimore's last 49 games of offense -

11, 2, 9, 2, 5, 7, 5, 7, 10, 3, 10, 6, 8, 5, 7, 1, 1, 5, 7, 11, 1, 8, 8, 1, 1, 5, 6, 5, 13, 7, 3, 10, 3, 4, 5, 3, 4, 9, 9, 7, 8, 5, 6, 11, 11, 3, 16, 3 & 2 run totals.

_8 totals of 0-2 runs.
_8 totals of 3-4 runs.
33 totals of 5+ runs (67.3%)

Baltimore has gone 73 games without being held to 3 runs or less over 3 straight games. They play Wednesday off 3 & 2 run totals their last 2 games.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Baltimore has gone 73 games without posting consecutive Under results. They are 48-20-5 to Over during this period (Unders rate of just 27.4%), and are 18-0-2 to Over off their last 20 Under results.

Since July the 6th, the Chicago Cubs are...

- 24-2 SU in games which they've scored at least 3 runs (20-6 to Over)

- 0-10 SU in games which they've scored 2 runs or less (9-1 to Under)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Chicago's last 25 games of all-or-nothing offense -

10, 6, 2, 2, 9, 6, 7, 7, 11, 0, 5, 8, 0, 11, 11, 3, 3, 6, 10, 8, 11, 6, 1, 9 & 5 run totals.

_5 totals of 0-2 runs
_2 totals of 3-4 runs
18 totals of 5+ runs (72.0%)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Capping a side for their games has been as straightforward as simply concerning yourself with how their offense will go.

Since July the 21st, the Texas Rangers are...

- 9-3 SU in games which they've scored at least 6 runs (10-1-1 to Over)

- 2-14 SU in games which they've scored 5 runs or less (9-7 to Under)

Hey SN!

Wandy is off form right now, but this is the 5th time Parra has faced the Astros and he sports a 5.91 ERA against them so far this season. Parra seems to have lost his edge a bit. In his last 4, he has tossed 24 innings and allowed 28 hits and 16 earned runs (6.00 ERA). I wouldn't back Wandy here but I was leaning to the OVER and think it's a lot of juice to lay on a hurler pitching the 5th time against an opponent when he hasn't faired well the first 4.

GL:shake:

Nationals now 0-16 SU their last 16 games vs teams with winning records.

And 3-23 SU their last 26 vs right handers on teams w/winning records (all venues - all 3 wins at home)

anyone got parra and wandy day stat?S

2008 Parra:

56 2/3 IP
56 hits
23 earned runs
49:28 K:BB ratioi
3.65

2008 Wandy:

30 2/3 IP
30 hits
12 earned runs
30:7 K:BB ratio
3.52

Wandy 2005-07

95 2/3 IP
97 hits
54 earned runs
71:36 K:BB ratio
5.08 ERA

Seems like a good thing for me.

Also like ATL/NYM Under.

Campos BHP, JJ's strong road splits (strong in general actually), Pelfrey strong lately when not facing teams named Florida...

Campos has been a big OVER umpire this year. That's my concern. :shake:

His numbers are conflicting...strong over record, but 63.5% strikes on the year and 65% the last 2 months (thanks, Shorty).

I need to break his numbers down more...good insight..thanks....I lean towards the Braves a bit also and Campos is road team friendly.

WASH/PHI Under 9- It's probably not a bad idea to blindly bet Phillies unders for a while. The perception is they are a great hitting team. At the moment they most certainly aren't. Balester did a nice job against them in DC. Myers is pitching great. Take your chances here.

ATL ML- This matchup is 50/50, I'll take plus money with a pitcher like Jurrjens.

Cards RL

Tigers ML

atl can't be 50-50 given they are on the road and their bullpen would be top 3 in triple a at best

I don't disagree with your reasoning, but the Braves play the Mets very well. That neutralizes some of their disadvantages you mentioned. Speaking of bad bullpens, the Mets certainly have an atrocious bullpen. The Mets don't hit RHP that well and Jurrjens is tough. Pelfrey at home is tough but I think the line is off by 20 cents each way.

TEX o11.5 & BAL o11 are my favorites right now...along with the MIL RL despite what was posted about Parra because he's a whole different animal at home

Good points GH.

Here's my take :
Parra opposed Wandy shortly after the AS Break when MILW was flying high. Parra pitched very solid vs Houston but he has ONE big problem vs them everytime he faced them- ALLOWING BIG INNINGS usually 5th or after . Here he led 1-0 and allowed 3 6th inn runs . So I feel he lost coin flip last time out vs Wandy now he gets a rematch . Tough for the same SP to win 2 coin flips vs the same pitcher in a short period . Now Parra has been inconsistent lately not really into lumping stats together such as L3 or L5 take more an indivual look of recent outings . Wandy past 4 starts since that game was hit hard in 3 and the only one he pitched well in was when Harang opposed him and spotted Hous like an 8-0 early lead. Really his best start since the Break was the game @ MILW . very unimpressed by his CHI start but a solid stat line , Cubs just failed to drive runners in that game.

Wandy also had LOST 5 straight @ MILW and 6 straught overall vs them . Actually 0-6 vsMil in 06 and 07 . Wandy also known for inferior starts on the road. So huge difference in home vs away starts past few years . Now some might say his road starts arent that bad in 2008 and thats true he hasnt been horrible just mostly medicore and few good starts sprinkled in . However the few good starts are soft IMO. As I said the start vs harang where he was spotted an 8-0 lead vs a wek offense , the start @ MILW was solid but also followed a huge Hot streak for MILW so he caught them in a nice spot IMO as well as having lost 5 straight there and 6 straight in general ...due is a bad word but he so was and other then that he had a good start @ Pitt and pretty decent one @ TB...the rest medicore 4 runs in 6 inn or 3 runs in 5 + types...

Now Parra has been solid in both efforts at home vs Houston and the two road efforts are not nearly as bad as they look IMO. First Parra is young and its normal for young SP to have road issues . Well the 1st start he fell apart @ Houston in the 5th and the 2nd he started to fall apart in the 5th and carried into the 6th inning.

1st game @ houston 1-1 b5th then-

Bottom 5th: Houston <TABLE cellSpacing=5 cellPadding=0 width=560 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class="yspdetailttl yspscored">- B. Only his 3rd road start and he just fell apart . When the SP hits a HR off you its gonna go down the tubes fast IMO (unless we are talking handful ofguys) . He responded a few starts later with 6 inn 4 h 1 r at home in defeating Houston.

Now his 3rd start vs them came 2 starts later making this 3 vs the youngster in 5 weeks vs them. Again same issue . He trailed early but Milw captured the lead and lead 5-3 to start b6th . real quick b6th double and Hr to tie it up and game is down.

So early on it seemed he was struggling to make adjustmenst when hitters were seeing him 2nd and 3rd time compounded by the fact Houston was seeing him often.

Now lookin at his starts since the break not much that worries me . His 2 bad stat starts were LAD and Cubs which are two teams BUILT to hit LHP....Funny thing same DEAL again vs Cubs ..down 2-1 top 6th he starts to struggle and one thing I see is the opposing SP repeatedly getting hits vs him ...Backe both times at Houston and here Dempster triggered it with a 1 out single ...So 2-1 after 5 he allows 2 to score inthe 6th and the pen allows an inherited runner to score ...

Now Cincy might look bad but again 6 inn 4 hits to allow 6 runs is somewhat unlikely . Guess what though? 0-0 to the b5th he allows 4 runs and then 2 more in the 6th on a Bruce Hr . Guess who KEYED the 5th inning rally ?? Opposing SP bronson Arroyo !! 1 out single then WALKS to the 7 and 8 hitters to load them and Arroyo hits a double ! Seems to lack concentration vs pitchers this is way to obvious start after start ! Even the 6th a youngster mistake ...2 out walk and Bruce Hrs ....

So really his worst start was @ LAD last time out and they are basically now as good as cubs vs LHSP. There lineup is deep Kemp , Kent , Manny , Nomar , Martin some tough outs for a LH.....

So I believe Parra has clearly pitched better then Wandy lately . He also the plus of being HOME .

Houston recently and I mentioned this before CC started has just not hit LHSP . Good thing I guess is Wandy is just 4-33 and .119 career!! Now very key is teh absences of Lee and Matsui which further hurts them vs LHSP IMO.

berk-tejada-pence -wiggy there key RHBs are 13-40 which is very good but assume most came in the those big innings as well. Bourne is 2-8 and whoever catches is 1-2 , Lorretta 0-1 . So this is really not exactly the same HOU lineup he has faced four times already but very close.

When a LH started vs Hous recently they scored in that game:
3 @ CC
3 vs UNIT (win)
6 vs Zito (win) barry fell apart in the 6th allowed only 4 hits
3 vs Sanchez (win) just 2 runs in 7 inn vs Sanchez who struggled coming in
4 vs perez (win)- Wiggy Hr and 4 runs in 6 inn/opposed met killer Wolf
5 vs Johan (win ) pen meltdown 1run 3 hits in 6+ inn
3 @ Parra (win) 3 in 6 inn
2 vs maholm - 8inn 1 r
2 vs Lily (win) -7 inn 1r

This is since the break. they havent really hit any LH and there wins can all be attributed to out pitching the opposition or pen meltdowns...thats 9 games and only twice they did get 4+ runs off the SP and really Perez was the only guy they hit

So Houston hasnt done much with the bats vs LHP . Now they dont hit mucheither in day games.

Day games 16-19 .266 avg 4.8 runs OBA 314 compared to Milw who is:
29-20 5.3 runs .268avg and 336 OBA

Now Parra has solid day splits as well -slight improvement over nite

Wandys day splits IMO look good in 2008 for 2 reasons unearned runs which were vs STL and truthfully not his fault but he couldnt stop the rally either and also the Cincy starts recently was in the day . past 2 years he had allowed 17 hrs in 60+ innings in day work which is notgood vs MILW......

Also MILW is 25-13 vs LHSP 273 avg 338OBA n 5.3 runs which there SP do well when they oppose a LH- allowing just 3.6 runs .252 avg and 313 OBA. Also solid pitching in day games for them-4.4 runs .259 BAA compared to Houston 5.7 runs and 282 BAA , 346 OBA

Factor in cecil's unwise motivational comments that HOUSTON would sweep this series and I am sure that adds some extra emphasis . Also today the Atsros won because of 2 clutch hits and nice work from there pen going nearly 4 scoreless which could hurt in a day game tmrw (quick turnaround) ...Bourn 2 out triple scores 2 and Blums 3 run shot.......

Basically would pay up to -200 for this spot.......

Feel Milw is playing good baseball and Houston is smoke & mirrors at this point ...

Very strong play on MILW if Braun plays may add to it ....

Trends ?
Houston only 4-12 L16 @ Milw
Houston only 2-9 past 11 Weds (wandy 1-5 L6 Wed starts)
Houston only 21-42 L63 away vs winning teams
houston 3-11 L14 with Wandy away vs winning teams

Milw 40-13 L53 at home vs a SP with above 1.30 WHIP
Milw 9-3 L12 Weds
Milw 38-15 L53 athome vs LHSP
Milw is 6-2 L8 with Parra vs winning team

Dont see a problem with an over but expect it to come from MILW bats 3 or 4 runs at most for Houston...

In San Francisco's last 17 losses they are 0-17 when given the +1.5 run line and additionally 4-40 in their last 44 losses.

Kansas City is 11-1 in Gil Meche's last 12 starts. The Royals have edged some quality teams and pitchers during this streak including NYY, MIN, BOS, TAM (2x), CWS, STL, and ARI.

Hard to advocate Kansas City as a pick on the road, but Meche and Greinke are the only pitchers worth looking into.

The Metropolitans are 11-0 in Pelfrey's last 11 starts if you exclude the two defeats courtesy of the Marlins who simply have Pelfrey's number this year (0-3, 10.66 ERA).

Since returning from the minors, Brett Myers has looked a lot better. He has pitched 4 consecutive quality starts, logging 27.2 innings while giving up only 6 runs (1.99 ERA, 0.80 WHIP). Washington has lost 11 in a row and is 22 games under .500 on the road.

Philly has to be of interest either ML or RL ...Myers throwing well and Philly get second look at Balester and Nats pen is thin ...

Cards -Wellenemyer throwing well and seem to recall good history vs Pitt . Davis solid fill in SP but there pen is a concern from teh 7th on..

Sd 1st score Prop - nice rally to close the game. Peavy has struggled on the road but rare price for him. Think he lost 2-1 last outing vs Webb @ Petco..

LAD ML - just like them vs LHSP

Twinkies ML - Hate the price and hate fading Braden but think Liriano 0 earned in 2 starts at home is in a great spot with Nathan to follow

A's away vs LHSP 5-14
1 4 2 0 1 3 7 4 1 5 2 2 0 0 3 1 2 1 9

The wins 4-2 vs Rogers to end theer losing streak m 7-1 vs Buerhle when WS where streakin , 5-1 vs Zito big deal IL play and the AL won , 2-1 vs Buerhle and the 9 spot vs CC when he was more like Dana Eveland.

Thats 14 of 19 3 runs or less and 12 have 2 runs or less !

Twins at home vs LHSP 16-4
11 7 4 10 6 7 14 4 9 6 1 7 2 2 6 7 7 0 4 0

So Twins won 10 straight at home vs LHSP 12 of 13 and15 of 17 ...
There loss vs Parra 5-1 , 3-2 Olsen of Balt , Lee 4-0 and Suanders 1-0 with the 1st two in April...

So UNDER-OAK parlay worth a shot as a safety longshot play...

Might fade meche unimpressed with recent outings

Yanks ML as well strong -Pettitte two sloid efforts wasted by his team......

Since returning from the disabled list, Francisco Liriano is 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. He has held the opposition to a .167 batting average. Minnesota has won the 3 games by 6 (SEA), 4 (@ KAN), and 4 (CLE). Oakland is hitting .180 against left-handers in their last 10 games.

i'm really close to playing the Texas OVER, but the forecast says T-Storms literally all day tomorrow. Do you think this enough to keep me off a play? Cuz i'm worried about a rain delay/suspension that'll make under wagers a winner if it only goes 5 or something. I still think it goes over but it worries me enough to post this, despite the humidity making me think the ball'll fly farther thus helping the OVER

Last comment before bed.......

Beware of WHITE SOX tmrw ! Pretty good contrarian spot for playing SEA IMO.

You have the disgruntled SEA backers probably being converted in SEA faders with KIng Felix's loss . However WSox should have scored alot more then 5 runs and if they coasted that maks life tougher the next day . We all know most athletes just canmt turn it on or off.....

Floyd struggling hasnt completed 6 innings past 3 starts . He was pasted @ SEA earlier but think it was also a no hit bid at home . Floyd 43 hits and 27 runs onl 20 earned in 41 day innings ....

Dickey pitching everyday lately for SEA but not very good . So perfect spot with no expectations to do well ....

Sea trying to win a game before heading back while WSox with a day off could rest some players as TB comes in ...

Floyd career vs SEA in limited looks not good......

Yes San Francisco lineup is really weak, Florida pitcher basically shut them out giving up a few hits..

If Florida has someone good throwing, they will beat San Fran, the hitters on Florida were hitting Correija hard, I can see FLorida taking one of the next two maybe both over san fran

any thoughts on the yanks

after losing earlier, the second game with pettite maybe the only game they may win since they are going against doc holiday after

yanks almost had the game earlier however rasner gave up a hr and veras just couldnt get 3 in a row not to mention damon's fielding woes

i really like the yanks tom as they are loaded with matsui back, i know jays are hot but one of the reasons they won was not the hot bats but burnett with the strong outing... a lot of the jays are doing well especially with wells around. however rollen still on the dl

looking hard at the yanks
any thoughts?
thanks in advance

Pettite lost about 6 weeks ago in TORONTO--

I think the key is how much the Yanks hit this new pitcher for TORONTO-

if they can hit him and get some runs, I think they can win, Toronto usually cannot win 2 in a row vs Yanks at home, and I think Yanks may get one here back with the bats vs this new pitcher

Big Over Ump in Chicago for the Cubs/Cincy game Wednesday.

The Reds on the road vs lefties this season:
11 times totals of 0-2 runs
_2 times totals of 3-5 runs (both times 3 runs)
12 times totals of 6+ runs

- Arroyo has pitched in 5 of these road games, for a 5-0 to Over record (getting 7, 7, 7, 9 & 12 runs of support).

- They've faced Lilly twice in Chicago, scoring 9 & 12 runs (Off Lilly himself, 9 ERs off 8.2 IP - Griffey+Dunn combined 5-19 .263/9 of the 21 RBIs)

-------------------

Cubs at home vs Reds righties this season: 5, 7, 5, 7, 2, 12 & 9 run totals (the lowest vs Volquez during his 8 straight starts of 1 ER or less period).

Saint Louis this season has produced the following when playing a home game off being held to 0-1 runs in their previous game:

when they win their subsequent home game:
averaged 7.33 team runs, games 3-0 to Over - average of 12.33 runs

when they lose their subsequent home game:
averaged 2.40 team runs, games 3-1-1 to Under - average of 6.80 runs

Nate Robertson -

In his last 5 starts not vs dogshit AL West teams
WHIP 2.54, ERA 10.80, 5-0 to Over at an average of 17.80 runs/game

In his last 5 road starts not vs dogshit AL West teams
WHIP 2.56, ERA 13.72, 5-0 to Over at an average of 17.40 runs/game

The Rangers offense maybe going off the boil, but anyone brave enough to back the Under given the above stats?

Opposing teams have scored 10, 9, 6, 10 & 7 run totals in Millwood's last 5 starts.

“We’re still fighting for our division,” manager Joe Girardi said. “Every night that you lose, it makes it more difficult.”

Somebody promote that man from Captain to General Obvious.

Looks like it's going to be warm and sunny today in Milwaukee. I assume the lid will be open. Anybody know generally when that information will be available?

something to mull over for those who backed against Mr Snell on Tuesday...

ST. LOUIS (AP)—Ian Snell drew inspiration from watching a pitcher from another team.

One night after watching Milwaukee’s CC Sabathia’s latest overpowering start, Snell was dominant in leading the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.

Snell outpitched Braden Looper with seven scoreless innings and Ryan Doumit had three of the Pirates’ five hits. Doumit’s RBI double in the first in one run before a three-run ninth ensured success in what manager John Russell said was “by far” the best start of the year for his struggling right-hander.

“He was making good hitters not real comfortable, and that’s a great sign,” Russell said. “He’s been building toward this and hopefully he can maintain some of it.”

Snell was glued to Sabathia’s fifth complete game in nine starts since moving to the National League, even watching the game on his cell phone when he was in a taxi. The biggest pointer: work off the fastball.

“Watching CC made me realize a whole bunch of things,” Snell said. “I just brought a game plan into the game.”

Snell (5-10) won for only the second time in 11 starts since June 17, allowing three hits while striking out eight and walking one. He allowed just two runners to reach scoring position against a team that scored 19 earned runs in 19 innings against him in four previous starts this year.

Snell said his back was bothering him when he allowed six runs in four innings at St. Louis on June 1.

“It was good to have my velocity back,” Snell said. “I challenged all of their hitters, no matter who it was. I think I threw more fastballs than I had thrown all year.”

The bats will be cracking in Texas tonight.

Robertson will get lit up.

I would say "I'm going to pound Texas tonight," but I'm a flat bettor so the added emphasis is unnecessary.
