well the main event has been announced....

in a big surpise we will have Bisping vs. Evans, even though both were suppose to be having re-matching with Hamill and Ortiz respectively.

also recently announced was that CTG favorite Houston Alexander is scheduled to take on Thiago Silva.

ya i know what ya mean chopz.... nothing to get overly excited about on there.....

i will like seeing the bisping/evans fight just b/c of the great record each of those fighters hold. the loser will be handed his first ever MMA loss.

Shitty card in terms of "big names" but not exciting fights. PPV card? Probably not. But should be very good fights!

Michael Bisping vs. Rashad Evans
Karo Parisyan vs. Hector Lombard
Houston Alexander vs. Thiago Silva
Frankie Edgar vs. Spencer Fisher
Ed Herman vs. Dave Terrell

These fightsa here should all be very exciting. Alexander/Silva and Herman/Terrell are the ones I am really looking forward too.

Fisher is always entertaining ans is Kayro.

Bisping should push the pace enough to keep Evans working. Evans' fights can be a bore.

This is why I hate UFC events outside of Las Vegas. This card in Vegas would get a half empty hall. This card in N.J., mma there for the 1st time in umpteen years, gets megadollars at the gate.

Hey, a reason to have a few Blue Moons.

what u think about all the KO possibilities? there are alot of strikers on the card that for sure...

o/u 3 KOs?

Michael Bisping vs. Rashad Evans

Has the potential for a (T)KO

Karo Parisyan vs. Hector Lombard

Karo doesnt have a (T)KO in any of his victories and only 1 (T)KO in the loss column. And that wasnt even a a ref stoppage, his corner threw in the towel. And Lombard, I hinestly dont know who he is. I only know one of his opponents, Gono. I dont see this one being a (T)KO.

Houston Alexander vs. Thiago Silva

I dont even need to say anything about this one...(T)KO!

Frankie Edgar vs. Spencer Fisher

Both of these guys should bet in there and throw away. Good chance on one happening.

Ed Herman vs. Dave Terrell

Herman should get a (T)KO from GnP or Terrell should get a (T)KO from his standup.

So I think you have it just about right.

just curious. I see Joe Lauzon there. Now considering he didn't win the Ultimate Fighter how is he on the UFC then? I don't get it, what is the point of winning that competition.

the difference is easy.... $$$$$$$

sure he might be fighting, only maybe b/c they still see alot of potential in him as a fighter, but how much more would he be getting for the fight if he had won TUF?

they get all these fighters in for TUF, and then can pay very little to use these guys for undercards in hopes that they may someday break out and be a superstar.

Lombard just got scratched from the card. Rumor mill, wishful thinkers are wanting/saying that the fill-in is/could be Fitch or Kos. Either one of those guys in there with Karo would really lift this card up.

Report: Hector Lombard visa issues keep him off UFC 78 card

hector_lombard.jpg

Cuban Judo specialist Hector Lombard is unable to obtain a visa for his 170-pound showdown with Karo Parisyan at UFC 78: “Validation” on November 17, according to Sherdog.com.
Here’s a snip:
“I’m not going to get my visa. I only have a Cuban passport, so I’ve been told it’s impossible for me to migrate. I went to the American embassy twice and they said no to me both times.”
Lombard now lives in Australia. He was expected to make his Octagon debut at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. against another top Judo fighter in “The Heat.”
There’s no word on who might replace Lombard. Fortunately, there is more than one month to find a replacement, which gives the opponent just enough time to put in a decent training camp.
In our conversation with Josh Koscheck over the weekend he actually said that he hopes that someone gets scratched from an event so that he can get back to action earlier than January or February (2008). His training partner at American Kickboxing Academy (AKA), Jon Fitch, would also be a fantastic fill-in.
Again, there’s no word on a possible opponent and the mentions of Koscheck or Fitch filling in are just wishful thinking at the moment.

LOMBARD STILL ON UFC 78 ROSTER

UFC officials confirmed with The Fight Network yesterday that Hector Lombard (11-2-1, 1 NC), scheduled to face fellow Judoka Karo Parisyan at Nov. 17’s UFC 78 in Newark, N.J., has not been removed from the roster after a report surfaced yesterday that Lombard could not gain entry into the U.S. for the bout.

Cuban-born Lombard, who represented in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, has been unable to secure a visa for the east coast engagement, but his management with Team Quest’s Murrieta, Calif. location is hopeful their client will receive an alternate work visa in time.

Lombard has won four of his last five bouts, and drew with Kyle Noke at July 28’s Cage Fighting Championships in Sydney, Australia. Lombard currently resides in Melbourne.

UFC 78: Karo Parisyan vs. Ryo Chonan

parysian_chonan_ufc78.jpg

Karo Parisyan (17-4) will fight Octagon newcomer Ryo Chonan (14-7) — not Hector Lombard — at UFC 78: “Validation” on November 17 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., according to WrestlingObserver.com.
Lombard — a Cuban living in Australia — as we reported earlier was denied access to the United States because of visa issues.
To find a solid opponent for “The Heat” on short notice he was paired up with the Japanese standout. Chonan was originally scheduled to clash with Thiago Alves that same night.
Chonan is one of four men to topple the current 185-pound titleholder, defeating Anderson “The Spider” Silva with an eye-popping flying scissor heal hook at PRIDE Shockwave 2004.
The “Piranha” has competed against some of the top names in the sport, including Hayato Sakurai (win), Carlos Newton (win), Dan Henderson (loss), Phil Baroni (loss), Joey Villasenor (win) and Paulo Filho (loss), among others.
This marks not only his UFC debut, but his welterweight debut, too.
Parisyan is on a two-fight win streak and has been victorious in seven out of his last eight bouts dating all the way back to 2004. He most recently defeated Josh Burkman via unanimous decision at UFC 71 in May.
The Armenian-born Judo specialist has been clamoring for a title shot since he missed his chance against Matt Hughes in 2005 because of an injury sustained during training.
However, Matt Hughes and Georges St. Pierre are already lined up in front of Parisyan, meaning he won’t get his crack at 170-pound glory until mid 2008 at the earliest.
A win over a talent like Chonan would certainly keep him near the front of the line.

It has been hard for me to get back into this with all the shit I have going on. Then throw the Buckeyes losing and I am about half crappy even about "The Game" this weekend.

http://78.ufc.com/

This really should be an entertaining fight night. The top 4 should all be great and Spencer Fisher should be a action packed fight, it is just hard for me to watch him for some reason. I think it is because he trains out of the MFS camp in Iowa.

Michael Bisping (+250) vs. Rashad Evans 2/5
Karo Parisyan (-450) vs. Hector Lombard 9/2
Houston Alexander (-170) vs. Thiago Silva 1.7/1
Frankie Edgar vs. Spencer Fisher (+105) 3.315
Ed Herman (-140) vs. Dave Terrell 4.2/3

Hey Liquid,

Do you know that Terrellhad to pull out?

Doerkson took his place. However, I still think Herman wins.

yeah I knew....I jsut copy and pasted that line-up...show whyI'm not an edior or proofreader, huh? If the Herman we saw last time out is woring tomorrow...should go well for him...and me.

^^^^^

I took Scott Smith last time out for Herman. Herman took huge strides from his previous fight to the Scott Smith fight. And Doerkson got KO'ed by a guy who has pillows for hands, though a very good fighter, but nonetheless pillows.

Light heavyweight bout: Rashad Evans vs. Michael Bisping

A tale of 2 fighters heading in different directions. While Evans is improving in every facet of his game, Bisping is as good now as he was on TUF. During the TUF episodes, I thought Bisping had a very good shot at being a contender for the belt. I think that is a long shot now.

Evans, who I thought was a can has improved his striking and his ground advancement. He no longer lays in his opponent's guard; he looks for better positioning constantly.

Bisping has been in deep trouble in each of his last 3 fights and losing his last fight against Matt Hamill, but the home town judges destroyed the repution of judges. Elvis Sinosic had his back and a rear naked, Eric Schafer had Bisping in all kinds of trouble until he got caught with a nice shot. Evans on the other hand has walked though his opponents outside of the draw with Tito. He has shown devastating striking with hands and feet. IMO Hamill and Evans are mirror images of one another, with Evans having the advantage over Hamill in power and athleticism. If Hamill did what he did to Bisping, Evans should be able to duplicate that and more with his extra power and explosion.

Bet: Either a decision or (T)KO for Evans. Going with (T)KO

Light heavyweight bout: Houston Alexander vs. Thiago Silva

Not much to say on this one. Someone is getting (T)KO'ed....fast. I am giving that advantage to HA. Silva likes to clinch, but that will be a major mistake with Alexander. He is a beast on the inside. And if Silva wants to take Houston down, he has to close the distance to get the takedown. and that will spell doom.

Bet: Houston Alexander by (T)KO

Middleweight bout: Ed Herman vs. Joe Doerksen

Like I stated before, I took the "L" on the Herman/Smith fight because Herman looked like poo-poo his previous 2 fights. He came out and dominated Smith. Really impressed me with his progression. I see Herman just getting better each fight from here on and being to strong for Doerkson to handle off his back.

Bet: Herman via UD

Wasnt going to bet tonight but i cant help myself....
EVANS -261 to win 2 units
CHONAN +301 1 unit

I was pretty excited for the fights. Not much "star" power, but the matchups looked great. It was probably the worst night of sicne I have been watching. And I havent missed a UFC for 2 years give or take 1 month.

Now the next event, TUF finale on SPIKE, pits Roger Huerta vs Clay Guida. Fight of the year! This will be 15 minutes of beating on each other.

shit was weak.

i finally got a chance to watch the fights last night... was totally bored watching this shit card...

Bisping/Evans - not exciting at all. Evans will need to finish fights if he wants to be a top contender. no more going to the judges, he needs solid wins.

Parisyan/Chonan- easy win by Karo. pretty boring to watch though.

Alexander/Silva - not sure what Alexander was thinking in this fight. why clinch and go to the ground? stupid move. he got seriously pwnd on down there.

Edgar/Fisher - looked like total domination by Edgar for the whole fight. one of the more exciting fights from the card if that says anything.

Herman/Doerksen - nice KO here. i really like Herman. i hope he continues to do well.

Lauzon/Reinhardt - Lauzon with an impressive win. he is lookin' really good and is getting top notch training now. gotta keep an eye on him.
