This year Bryan will sing the national anthem and it appears the offshore books don't exactly have a consensus on the number that the country star is going to hit.

Sportsbook.ag has the over/under set for Bryan's version of the anthem at 127.5 seconds, which is, for those that are not mathematically inclined, 2 minutes and 7.5 seconds. They're charging -120 on both the over and under (which is to say, you would need to bet $120 to win $100).

Bovada.lv is expecting a much longer version from Bryan, checking in at 2 minutes and 15 seconds.
Meanwhile, Bookmaker.eu emailed a list of props our way and they are REALLY short -- they have the anthem set at exactly 120 seconds (but the price is -200).

And Mike Tierney over at SportsLine is taking the under on Bryan's version of the national anthem.

The Over/Under for one of the Super Bowl's popular prop bets that have nothing to do with in-game action is 2 minutes, 15 seconds, according to the sports wagering service Bovada. In contrast to most previous seasons, when artists are tackling the tune for the first time onstage, there is evidence to help decide a play.

Bryan has belted out the National Anthem on several occasions. YouTube alone carries five versions.
Each has grown progressively longer, with the latest clocking in at 2:27 last August. The two previous anthems were completed in 2:12 (2014) and 2:13 (2015).

The key is that all three occurred at Bryan concerts, where he could stretch it out without time limitations.
Anthem singers at sports events usually are on a tighter leash. Bryan rushed through the song in 1:40 at an NFL game in Nashville nine years ago. His rendition at the MLB All-Star game in '12 took just 2:02.

Since the musical O/U became an essential item on the Super Bowl props menu, the average length is 1:58. Only four have exceeded two minutes -- record-holder Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Aretha Franklin/Aaron Neville and, last year, Lady Gaga. (Not sure what this means, but all two-minute-plus acts were partly or exclusively female.)

As a rule, country crooners don't mess around in their performances. It's more of a git-'er-done approach.
For the co-author of and vocalist on "Fast," this should lean more toward a sprint than a marathon.

Can anyone find any past performances of Pink doing the national anthem? I cannot find anything which is making this cap extremely difficult this year!

my wife is a singer albeit amateur and she usually sings it for me as the singer would and and i time her and bet accordingly....i'll let you know

so my wife says that this should go over, she reasons that pink has quite a set of pipes on her and that when it comes to the end of the song she will not miss the chance to show those pipes off thus holding the notes and driving it over....gl

Can’t find it either. Looked decently hard. The way she sings she isn’t one of “those” flashy singers I think she will sing it will, not making a bunch of crazy notes just singing it as true as possible. Took the under.

Haven't we just concluded this is a wager on the plane doing the flyover at this point? Performers have to comply to that

If you didn’t see Pink said on her IG yesterday that she is battling the flu adding even another wrinkle to this one.

Think so as well but been trying to decide if the flu will hold her back?

To answer question being asked about whether she has done a anthem before I looked pretty hard too and I couldn't find anything.

If she’s not feeling well, gotta think she won’t be holding those certain notes for very long

Stands to reason but wondering why I can still get +155 on under 120 seconds? I heard wvu players all had the flu yesterday and they won by 30! Seems like sicknesses get way overblown more times than not, she did just perform other day I believe.

She performed Friday and would have skipped that if it was potentially risking this

Shes talked about how Whitneys performance inspired her, she's gonna go big imo

Plus she has the voice to hit every note high and low

I'd lean over

You will turn a profit in the long run simply by taking the over with female performers and the under with males...I would get it in now as the line is starting to move in that direction

74 year old female soul singer. Is there any possible way this stays remotely close to the number? This has all the makings of that shit Aretha Franklin did a few years ago in one of the championship games (I believe). I had to walk away from that, unlistenable. Went to the store for pizza & beer, came home & it was still on.

For fuck sake. Leave it to Bovada to hang 60 cents on the fucking over instead of moving the number a couple seconds. Pricks!

I heard some conjecture on the radio this week that as singers get older, they have more difficulty holding notes for as long as they used to. I wonder if that is why this number is set low?

I wish ESPN tracked this so the books could use that as the official time. Would love to see if different books have differing final times which miraculously help their cause.

I heard the AF crew on NFL Radio yesterday who will be doing the fly-over in the fighters. They have someone on the ground with radio contact to the pilots to keep them in sync with the national anthem so the instant she is done with with the last note they will be over the stadium. That said they know from her rehearsal the day before exactly how long it's going to take her so the pilots know where to be at beginning of song, middle of song & end of song. Nearing the end the radio guy contact the pilots to let them know if she is a second ahead or behind so they can adjust speed accordingly.

Long story but point being, someone knows exactly how long this song is going to take.

If they don't have it open for the game surely it will be open for the fly-over. But I'm guessing it takes a bit longer to close than a sunroof so fuck if I know.

Think i heard it does take a while and it basically open or closed and has to be decided before hand.

It was supposed to take 12 minutes to open or close the roof at Mercedes Benz Stadium. It seems that it actually only takes about 8 minutes to open and about 7 minutes to close. Apparently it goes faster while closing, so it takes a minute less.

That weird cause I know I’ve heard more than once it was decided beforehand and then it stayed whichever way. Wouldn’t think that be the case if it can be done that quickly. Hell if I know.

Gladys Knight won't kneel or raise a fist during National Anthem (from live mic until it is disabled) -400

https://www.eonline.com/news/100661...on-to-sing-national-anthem-at-super-bowl-2019

“I understand that Mr. Kaepernick is protesting two things and they are police violence and injustice. It is unfortunate that our National Anthem has been dragged into this debate when the distinctive senses of the National Anthem and fighting for justice should each stand alone. I am here today and on Sunday, Feb. 3 to give the Anthem back its voice, to stand for that historic choice of words, the way it unites us when we hear it and to free it from the same prejudices and struggles I have fought long and hard for all my life.”
