The Best of the West (WCF's) Discussion Thread...

Many people believe sportsinsights has FLAWED information! So beware of those stats. They might be straight out of thin air

this series is way more fun to watch..i missed game 1 but saw game 2 - was awesome seeing curry and harden go at it, game of runs...game 3 should be a good one...didn't know foster was such a crook - just read here that the heavy action was 7 of 7 on games he officiated during the donaghy era, random chance of that was less than 1%

lebron was on a mission without kyrie yesterday, hawks probably don't get back to atlanta

I think Houston jumps on the Dubs early. I will wait to try and get some Warriors in-game at a nice + number.

I like both GSW to win and GSW Over 108 points TT.

I think that this series will be similar to Pelicans series. Game 1, GSW won despite late run by the Rockets.
Game 2 was pretty even, but GSW won in the end. Game 3, rival gives everything they got, but GSW wins. Game 4, GSW blowout (maybe).

I think that Rockets gave everything in Game 2. Harden won't be as good. GSW made so many unforced turnovers that it's mind blowing.

Money on Houston and it's becoming a 'Scott Foster Money Move' fade, smh.

Last time the Rockets were a double-digit dog away in Game's 1-2 and a small dog/fave at home in Game 3, they lost to OKC (2012).

Trends trends trends...when the fuck will people give up with the trends.

It's all about match-ups baby.

You think Houston looks at trends with spreads to try and figure out their outcome? Give me a break....smh

This game comes down to role-players, you know, the guy who in most situations play better at home.

If GSW has their bench step up as they have in Games 1/2...maybe they can sneak out a quick 3-0 lead on Houston.

But the Rockets, this is desperation time, doesn't matter who refs. If they get some bench production from role-players, as well as play well defensively, could be a rout.

I'm on Houston but not because of "referee's" or "trends", but because the Rockets have looked good in stretches vs. GSW which should translate to a competitive game at home.

Hard to say though because this squad was down 3-1 vs. the Clippers before the Clippers melted.

'Situational trends' definitely have their place in the NBA in somewhat determining a team's mindset/approach but agree that winning and losing in the playoffs is more about matchups than anything else. Refs merely help decide the spread and total. Laugh if you want.

In terms of matchups, if Kerr went small and played Draymond at center for most of this series the Rockets would be fucked and not looked as competitive as they have so far.

It is the Dubs unguardable, most efficient line-up and the difference between blowouts and close games.

I'll take a shot on the 1H over 109.5...gotten over this # in both of the first 2 games and I think we see the series pick up the pace in Houston.

Yes, they have - when they've been down significantly on the scoreboard and consequently GS has then taken things easy. The Rockets 23-6 run just before h/t in game 2 came immediately on the heels on GS taking a 17 pt lead (their biggest if the game). The Rockets pulled close at the end of the game with an 8-1 run after GS re-established an 8 pt lead with 99 secs left: the time-left context of that narrower lead again resulting in their taking the win for granted = subsequent lax play (any team in the NBA, even the worst, would back themselves to bring home an 8 pt lead with that small amount of time left in a game. GS didn't score over the final 1:20, that's how dialed in they were on their own possessions against a D ranked 17th). When GS has played serious, the Rockets have looked like bums.

I think Houston wins today too. But for the very reasons I've listed above. I think the Warriors take the Rockets easy, and they'll pay for it. The took Nawlins easy in their first road game in New Orleans, and needed a miracle comeback to avoid a loss. They lost their first road game vs. Mempiss: no excuse their off losing Game 2 @home (they should've cleaned that series up in 5). This is the trend I'm seeing - shitty efforts in their initial road games off 2 home games. I'll be looking to bet live, see if my thoughts are cemented in the early goings.

Scott Foster averaging NBA-high 19.3 fouls called per 48 mins these playoffs.

Dude also appears to not like Draymond Green. High probability he's on the bench early.

I missed G1 - didn't realise GS managed to score only 2 pts over the final 2:00 of that one as well. Neither of the games played so far needed to be anywhere near as close as their final scorelines suggest, given GS's poor execution at the end of both with decent leads. If you take out the runs the Rockets started & ended G1 with (both 9-2), then inbetween GS outscored them 106-88.

Based on opening lines, Warriors are 6-1 to Under at home these playoffs vs. 3-2 to Over on the road.

Warriors have had 1 2nd half total more than 104 pts these playoffs vs. 8 1st halves (4 of 5 road 1st halves have totaled at least 105 pts).

Warriors 3rd periods have been drought zones for scoring: avg. of 40.8 pts on the road, 46.7 pts at home.

Stats that underpin their having paid out on 11 2nd half Unders in 12 games.

I'd rather base a play on actual numbers rather than your opinion, sorry.

Warriors are 6 - 0 this season against the Rockets. They also almost lost at home in Game 2, so no reason to think they won't take them seriously.
Rockets obviously can win, but don't get the love for the Rockets tonight.

Rockets just look inept on offence -- GSW is gonna get theirs on O but Rockets need to be scoring so they can set up their defence. The more they get caught matching up with GSW in transition the more they are going to struggle in this game.

C'mon... He plays really really really well.
I don't like Dwight, I don't like the Rockets, I bet on the Warriors, but still... He is amazing the last few games.

All I'm saying is they'd be a lot better without him. If they had another serviceable big man. He ruins chemistry. And he just brings drama. And he hinders hardens game IMO

Dwight is a cancer. Until his clown antics change I will not change my stance. He's a freak of nature. The ball will find him. He won't find the ball.

Would be ironic if the Dubs win by DD's on the road, yet failed to do so in Game's 1 and 2.

Playoffs more zag-zig than zig-zag. Kudos to the Vegas and the league.

Should have figured a mental midget team like Houston would crumble after just coming up short in Game 2.

Might as well start the Finals now.

Wow, I expected GSW to win, but not that easily.
I expected Harden to play poorly, but not that much.
Rockets managed to fail even my very poor expectations for them...

I'll bite.

Houston -6 2H medium

Atlanta got blown off the court yesterday but at the end they only lost by 12.

Houston's dearth of a bench is getting exposed this series
