Do you all think the Clem TD play was a pick play/illegal?

Just curious

It looked like it was almost 3 yds downfield...so yes. It was close though, and I'm not sure if there's a 2 yard "buffer" where it's allowed.

Run da bawl

They trust their defense. We'll see if they're right about doing so, but they trust their D.

A stop here, where you get the ball near midfield and tack on a FG means Clemson has to score a TD with most likely 3 minutes or so, so one chance to do it. I think they're confident they can do just that.

They are trusting him to run and scramble and throw wr screens. They are not trusting him to throw down field. I don't understand why they let him run instead of the backs. Cause the backs are really good and really strong (actually hurts is pretty strong but still).

They may, but that's not a reason to not make/change a rule imo. If it's a clear situation where they did it purposely to prevent an obvious TD (or a huge play), there can be a spot foul provision..similar to the "clear path" in the NBA. The problem with that is that it's make it more subjective, which is what I'm trying to avoid. The only answer in all of this is better, and full time, officiating. That solves ALL of the problems and allows them to tweak rules to make them better for the game.

I see what you're saying, but the clear path rule is pretty objective (only defender, right?), where I still think PI would be subjective. These guys are SO good that they could make it look like they were just defending when they know exactly what they are doing.

They have really increased the pay for refs - Ed H makes 205k a year plus game bonuses of 3k a game. It could be his only job.

Because there's that chance someone breaks free and he hits a big one. He does a damn good job running himself, so it gives them options, so to speak.

Ya he is a good runner .. I just think the backs are better .. I like the power run game more than the delayed run game or the qb scramble for bama. Get behind Robinson with a back and go.
