2024 Golf Discussion - Playoff Time -- East Lake

Niemann wins the LIV event. At this point, he's probably going to find himself somewhere on my Masters card.

AK finished DFL of all the guys who finished (Ormsby completed his round today, but the website has him in 54th place behind AK with no score. DQ maybe?). 76-76-74. Not awful, but I can see why he chose LIV for his return rather than the PGA Tour. I wonder now with the relationship between the two tours if AK can still use his major medical exemption on the PGA after he gets back in tournament shape?

I don't think we see AK anywhere but LIV.

Guess this will be a novelty for a few years.

But, if he grinds, maybe something cool happens?

Cognizant finally finishes. That weather delay really sucked as I had time and was ready to watch some good golf yesterday afternoon. Eckroat came through and could've been a great weekend less Mavs straight up loss yesterday and Western Kentucky loss to FIU on Saturday.

5-5 for the tourney, +11.25u

Onto the next..

OT -- waiting till April to find out the winner of today's myrtle qualifier is something else.

Impressive that they can be kept under wraps that long.

I'm more interested in how everyone here is playing than the actual tour

I guess that's an issue for them, not us

API bets :

Willy Z -115 over Min Woo Lee
Burns -115 over Tommy Fleetwood
Kirk -115 over English
Keegan +115 over Ben An
EVR -105 over Hoge

Top 10:
Zalatoris +300
Fitzpatrick +225

Picked up just over 7u at the Cognizant. The Arnie Palmer is another tourney with the kinda-cut...top 50 plus ties and anyone within 10 strokes of the lead after 2 rounds. I couldn't talk myself into laying massive prices for making the cut on my one out that had make/miss cut listed, but I did talk myself into a few others:

1u each

Deki to Miss Cut +275

Willy Z to finish 23rd or better +130

Sam Burns & C. Young to finish Top 20 +180

Winning Score between 277-282 +225

Rd1 Lowry +104 Scott

Swing it easy folks.

API Rd.1 add- I think Eckroat can carry over his exceptional play (or least have a decent round) from last week over to the first round.

Eckroat +115 v. Pavon / Wisky ML +158 3u

Late to the party

Only one I'm on is Aberg u70.5 -130 today

Wish I had a better read on guys who putt well historically during the Florida swing, greens are just so different than the West Coast greens

One more Rd.1 add- Cantlay -140 v. Fitz / Wisky ML +106 2.5u

Fitz had a decent week last go around but is prone to bogeys and worse. Hoping Patty Ice plays it cool and consistent rd.1 and throughout.

Was very lucky yesterday, having 3 open, long-shot bets (small) with Rors, Cantlay, Willie Z outrights. Crossing my fingers these guys are in the running come Sunday.

2-0-1 rd.1 +8u. Rd.2 plays so far and gonna add.

Scheffler to eagle +600 1u (MGM)
Willie Zed to eagle +650 1u (Betrivers)
Cantlay -125 v. Fitz 4u
Eckroat +100 v. Pavon 4u

Thanks @laopadak ..best of luck on your plays as well. Nice hit on the Scottie eagle chip, by the way.

Try to remind me to bet on Hideki next time I hear he's injured.

3-2 Rd.2 +8.5u. +16.5u for tourney. Hoping train moves along nicely to the finish.. one long shot parlay still open, Leggo Willie Zed

Rd.3

Lowry under 74.5 -125 4u
Day under 73.5 -120 4u

I usually fear the hurt golfer but…

Lowry -105 vs Matsuyama… tough course to not feel 100% on. I’ll take a shot at this one…

@chipnotized if this bet moose’s you I apologize in advance

AK shot 65 in final/3rd round in Hong Kong. Still non-competitive but not DFL. Glad to see him get a solid round in before he returns to the US and has a couple more eyeballs on him

2-0 rd.3 +6.5, +23u for API. Going with the Irish boys to have decent rounds today.

Lowry under 73.5 -125 4u
Rors under 71.5 -125 4u

Been a great tourney and final round shouldn’t disappoint

GL on your plays today

Off topic a bit, but since all in here follow golf I thought it would be interesting.

I have a friend I play poker with on Wednesdays (there are 4-5 poker rooms around here, you can find a game going every day of the week, after Covid the Seneca Casino closed the poker room…so a bunch of guys opened up their own, the dealers from the Casino deal for them, full waitress service, multiple tables going, the whole nine…its awesome), and his daughter plays golf for USF. She ended up getting the invite to Augusta for the Women’s Valspar Invitational (it’s not at Augusta CC, but rather Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta), and today is the final round.

Her name is Melanie Green, and she’s currently tied for 17th place. They knew weather would be a factor yesterday, so they played as much of the first two rounds on Friday as possible, then are finishing up Rd 2 and playing Rd 3 today.

Just thought maybe some would want to follow along. Here is a link to the leaderboard…

It’s pretty cool for Ron (her dad), as he’s been able to follow her around the country watching her play golf, and there’s a chance she’ll end up with her Tour card in the next couple/few years. He likes to talk about all of the time/hours they put in together at the local ranges, indoor ranges, etc…and it’s awesome to see it pay off. He’s a proud dad for sure.

Anyone know why live betting is closed for the Arnold Palmer? DK isn’t accepting wagers, neither is my local…it’s kinda strange. I was wondering if maybe there was a weather delay or something but they’re playing and no live bets?

Been searching for live bets here also, all of my books have it closed, only outright wins available. I suspect they don’t want to expose themselves, anything can happen on the easier back nine.

I didn’t even have the outright available. It’s now not even listed at either DK nor my local. Doesn’t even show up as an option to pick. Weird.

Melanie finished in a tie for 14th, 1 under for the tourney.

She was ranked 39th in the country a couple of weeks ago. She was AAC golfer of the month in September and October, and was AAC golfer of the week twice in February, probably earning her golfer of the month as well. And she’s only had ONE round over par this entire season, the first round she played this season.

TAMPA, FLA., February 28, 2024 – University of South Florida senior Melanie Green, who tied her career best and program record of 64 (-8) in the final round at the Westbrook Invitational, has been named the American Athletic Conference's Women's Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Ranked No. 39 in the in the country, Green earns AAC Golfer of the Week honors for the second time in as many tournaments played this month. She also swept the Fall honors, being named the September and October AAC Women's Golfer of the Month.

In the Westbrook Invitational, Green was under par in all three rounds. She opened with a 71 (-1), followed by a 70 (-2) in the second round and closed bogey free 64 (-8). Green carded an eagle and recorded six birdies in the final round. She has only shot over par in one round during the 2023-24 season, the very first 18 holes played in the Fall.

Green also tied her career best and program record 54-hole score of 205 (-11) at the Westbrook Invitational. She moved up 23 spots in the final round to finish tied for sixth. She has finished in the top 10 of all six tournaments during the 2023-24 season and in the top four in five events.

Green's stellar play help pace the Bulls to a new program record for low round, shooting a 271 (-17) at the Westbrook Invitational and low 54-hole total 836 (-28), while matching the program record for 36-hole score (565). USF's previous 54-hole record was 852 set last season. South Florida has now finished in the top four of all six events in the 2023-24 season.

The senior tallied her second collegiate win to open the Spring as she helped lead South Florida to its second team win of the season at the FAU Paradise Invitational in early February to earn AAC Golfer of the Week recognition.

Green has picked up this season where she left off after a record-breaking season in 2022-23 in which she was named a WGCA All-American Honorable Mention. A three-time AAC All-Conference Team member, Green owns multiple program records, including season scoring average (71.03), low round relative to par (-8) and career scoring average (72.13 entering the 2023-24 season).

Individually in October, she posted two top-five finishes. She finished third in the Dale McNamara Invitational and second in the Hurricane Invitational. In the two tournaments, she was a combined 18 under par.

In September, she posted two top-five finishes in USF's first two tournaments of the season. Green finished tied for second in the Glass City Invitational and tied for fourth in the Badger Invitational.

Green and the Bulls return to the course at the Augusta Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.

3-1 rd.4 +4.5, +27.5u for API. Had some longshots that didn't come through but made up for it elsewhere. Snoozer of a final round. Clark hung in there at the beginning but smooth sailing for Scheffler for most of the day. Rd.3 was a great watch.

Onto the Players.
