George has WAY more help and is not relied upon on the offensive side as much. Not to mention the pacers are structured completely differently from management down. Defense first. Again. Who's the best player melo has ever played with?
Why does he need help to be able to put forth an effort on defense? You're completely answering away Melo basically not trying on defense because he doesn't have help and is too tired. Relied on on the offensive end or not, he can't be that fucking tired from shooting the ball...it's a total cop out. You should be tired from playing defense, not offense.
Melo was on a great team in Denver, just because there wasn't another superstar there doesn't mean he didn't have help. But...who did/does he make better? He should be making players around him better shouldn't he? Again, why does Melo need another player as good as him or better to play defense? We aren't even talking about him winning something...we are talking about him putting forth an effort on the defensive end of the court.
