But...it's...still...Monday

DON'T FADE EDWIN JACKSON TIL HE PROVES HE CAN BE BEAT...he was a top 100 prospect for a reason, his stuff is nasty...D-Rays eat up Left-Handed pitching and I think if they lose this game today against Kennedy they've got a real good shot at beating Pettite tomorrow...

Oh, and the Devil Rays and a handful of other teams (like the Royals) are finally doing it "right"...they're building the farm systems and each have some of the top young talent in the league

I look for these teams (if they can devolp two aces...say Kazmir/Garza/Price for the Rays and Bannister/Grienke/? for the Royals that they will be just like the Diamondbacks of last year and now...

Built the RIGHT way

Gotta think Ryan SpermDempster comes back to life for the Cubs...whereas we all know what Aaron Harang possess...luckily the Reds are facing the CUBS...so the Cubs will probably even out the money, making it a solid play

Love Ownings in San Francisco depending on how the night goes, Correia is on my "do not bet list" anyways

Also like Byrd and the Indians if the Red Sox win this one tonight on ESPN

That's all I see on the card, probably will be my 4 plays

DRays (Jackson) +115
Indians (Byrd) -110
Reds (Harang) -115
Diamondbacks (Ownings) -125

^ You think D-Rays win?

What makes you think that? I'm probably the biggest DRays fan here and I think it's a tossup

Sorranstine MOST LIKELY won't pitch as well as Neinmann did yesterday, and I can't see Kennedy getting abused again, especially since his stuff matches up well against the DRays (I don't often bet on them when a righty with good movement is on the mound)...I just think it's a total toss-up, and at -125, you might as well take the team with the 400billion dollar payroll

^ You think D-Rays win?

What makes you think that?

Tired NYY team and rested TB team playing its third series at home. I started a thread on this angle. Also, I think the beef of TB's lineup can rock Kennedy. Jeter may not be at 100% and Joba isn't playing.

Dont see how TB matches up well with LHP. They start with 3 LHs Iwamura , Crawford and Pena who are probably there 3 toughest hitters followed by Upton and Gomes who are real solid vs LHs then 6 through 9 not much to get worried about although Longoria is a top , top prospect. They didnt hit Pettitte much 1st time where aided by a error early and a 3r un Hr which made it out by 5 feet down the line whenhe was tiring some in his 1st start after the DL. Granted TB did hit Pettitte fairly well last season. Edwin Jackson has pitched great his two starts and generally has been solid vs the Yanks in the past. I would be more interested in the 1st 5 under after the fireworks tonight. Both SP should start well. Hard to pass up the Yanks -120 in TB it was ridiculous to see todays game close at Pkem IMO.

Early games have to like Texas . I rode them a couple as dogs vs Toronto and the biggest problem was there SP put them in early holes and there bats are kinda cold. Millwood has been pretty good his team needs him to put a stop there losing streak. Rangers can send out alot of LHB vs Mosely. While Millwood isnt a true #1 SP he is Texas and he is facing LAA 5th guy...

Probably be interested in SFG. Basically Zona has not hit RHP that well yet or in comparision to the LHP it has faced. Owings has been real solid so far and was terrible @ SF last year but dominant at home vs them. Bowker should be in the lienup giving it some balance as Rowand has returned as well. Correria has also been good and did okay in his 2 starts vs Zona last August. Zona was 265 vs RH vs 312 vs LHs.

Tough game in Chicago. You have two up and coming LHs and Eveland seems to be the better of the two at the moment. Neither team hits LH real well and Oak struggles on offense during the day. Have to lean towards Chicago at this price as I have said like how they matchup vs LHP this year going 4-2 I believe and scoring at least 5 runs in 4 of them ..just wanna see WSox day splits and perhaps there lineup with some vets...

After my painful loss with Cleveland will probably be on them and the UNDER possibly..:shake:

Kansas finally has a pitching match-up that can stop their flow of Under results. Seattle off their first home effort where their offense produced less than 4 runs, should be keen to get into Bale to make up for it.

Really hard to not like Harang at Pkem. Reds need a WIN and he is there ace. Mix in the fact he beat Zambrano 3 times last year @ Wrigley went 7-2 last 9 starts and his last loss was a 4-0 game he went 8 innings. Pitt threw alot of LHs at Cincy why stymied them but have to like that they put 5 or 6 LHBs vs RHP...

and BC hard to imagine you cant at least get a 5-4 game out in Seattle although Batista tends to be much better at home there stack of Lhs with DeJesus back should give him problems as LHBs have tortured him past few years....

yes but batista has nice splits against kc.

i like harang too but might want to wait on the wind. he is a flyball guy and if its one of those days where the wind carries everything i dont want him.

Fade Dave Bush on the road seems logical ...

Col , Det and Philly seem logical as well....Robertson has managed 6 staright startsvs Minny going 7 and allowing 3 runs or less while Eaton has been a tough luck loser twice..

yes but batista has nice splits against kc.

i like harang too but might want to wait on the wind. he is a flyball guy and if its one of those days where the wind carries everything i dont want him.

Tough to use splits for either since batista has been around awhile and KC is young...I prefer to simply look more at ability to get out LHs and RHs..alot of these guys are drastically different pitchers home and away as you know and tough to get an accurrate picture of what numbers occurred where...

For example and off subject you look at a guy like Kevin Millwood and he has about 10 career starts vs LAA but like 8 of them were on the road....Actually I thought Batista never had a start vs KC and something like 3 or 4 innings...so what good are the splits....

Good point about Harang but would still be hard pressed to pass him up at even money..

yup agree with you nut. Had the splits written down but i looked at them and you are right. not much to go on other than Grudz, guillen and gaithright. and agree ... how they hit vs lefties and righties as a whole has to be given more weight than small sample sizes vs particular pitchers.

love marcum , like trachsel a little bit (gtoundballs work well in balt ) , love wendelstedt , love the baltimore lineup ( for unders ) and toronto cant hit righties.

I cant back Bush on the road especially if Milw is facing a RHP. Think Milw is 3-4 vs RHP all wins by 1 run. Something like .197 away vs RHs , 219 L10 games and 230 on the season..and we arent talking studs...

Figuerora had a no-no for half the game..lost to Harang and Fogg , beat Cueto 3-2 , beat Correria 5-4 , lost to Dempster and beat Zambrano 4-3...

also UND is 4-2-1 vs RHs...

bush owns the cardinals and brewers hit looper well.

first time marlins see jurrjens

Kinda like ATL since they will hit LHP...

Dont see where Bush owns STL though..4 career starts Milw is 1-3 in them. Last year allowed 3 runs in each but in 06 he allowed 7 in each...

23.2 inn 30 h 23 r 20 er 8bb 13 k 4hrs...

His best start was at home but he lost 8-0 and labored needing 127 piutched to get throught 7 innings.

Looper was hit hard both games in Milw but pitched well at home vs them...6 inn 2 runs...

Bush's past 2 years you can see the night and day difference depending on if he was Home or Away.

Think STL starting lineup is 14 for 48 off him with Yadier Molina hitting 3 Hrs and thats thanks to Miles being 0-8. Who could give way to Izturis who is 3-10.

Braden Looper is much the same...his ERA actually doubles on the road..

So really cant weigh that heavily his last 2 starts vs Milw IMO...Also he was amazing day starts but one would think alot of his day starts were at home and his night starts away...

Just throwing it out there...

I'll take Cleveland ,
then I like Pirates for +150
I have plus money on Harang and thats ok for me right now
Kansas with lefty on the mound against Seattle
Brewers
Correia +123. SF has positive record at home, we are saying all the time how weak they are, but still they have 6 wins - thats more than Tigers, Cleveland, Texas, Atl, Houston, Dodgers and Colorado. And Correia is underrated here IMO. I like owings very much, but SF bats are hitting something in last games.
26 runs in last 5 games, thats what I like here.
Colorado

I guess the issue is what % of the bet on the Cardinals should be ml and what percentage should be minus 1.5 and 2.5. Looper has started 16 home games and won 11. 9 of the 11 were by 2 or more runs. In his only home game vs the Bucks the Cardinals won by 8 runs. Bush has faced the Cardinals 4 times giving up 20 earned runs and going 1-3. All of the losses were by 2 or more runs so we are getting a home starter with an 11-5 record vs Bush who in his last 20 road games is 6-14 although 5 of the losses were by 1 run. I think we stake a ml position at least to start. Milwaukee has played only 3 night games this season and in those games has only scored 9 runs while the Cardinals have played 8 night games scoring 37 runs.

Good stuff P..

For so fear my strong leans are :

Texas -115 /120 and -1.5 RL
SFG +120
Indians -110 to +100
Yanks -120 ( maybe -1.5 RL)
Reds -110 to +100
Cards -120 and -1.5 RL
Col +115 to +110

Also like Det -140 and Philly -150 but hoping those prices fall. I mean does -150 for Eaton vs Houston lineup scream value? Not exactly..might go -1.5 RL there ..Not many favs won today but 2 of 3 covered the RL...which is a nice wayto get a better payout.....

Good night and BOL

Good stuff and I agree. I cant get -2.5 RL's anymore but on paper the -1.5 RL looks solid based on the fact you have a team struggling to hit RHP , facing one who is solid at home with a good pen...strong chance they score 4 runs or less...on the flip you have a SP who struggles on the road and has allowed 5 runs or better in 3 of his starts vs the team with a pen who has had some struggles of late with Shouse being the most consistent guy out there IMO. Dont think a 5-3 game is asking for much ...:shake:

Also interested in ChiSox somewhat. If they ever flipped Dye and Thome it would pay huge dividends . I know VKs disagrees here about them hitting LHP but all I can say is there lineup with a healthy Crede , Cabrera instead of Iguchi , Swisher instead of previous LH OFs like Brian Anderson , Darin Erstad , Rob Mackowiak , Jerry Owens or even the forgotten RHB Luis Torrero is a clear huge upgrade especially seeing how Swisher hits LHs. Then while Carlos Quentin has not proven so yet in his career being a RH slugger top prospect I would expect him to eventually hit better then previous LF Scott Podsednik did. Factor in Dye andKonerko mashing LHP they have a better then average lineup vs LHs now. In fact as terrible as 07 was coming in 29th in runs , they had scored the 2nd mosr runs vs LH in 06 and 12 in 05 and 7th in 04. The CF and LF spot were huge reasons why CHi Sox struggled vs LHP but also the drastic decline from Thome in that category before being hurt he was about 240 previous 3 years but since bewteen 190 and 200 if I recall correctly. This year he is better already blasting 2 Hrs vs the sruggling CC Sabathia.

Big reason I didnt jump on CHicago today was the unknow effect on holding Buerhle out a few days just to pitch vs Oakland. While his splits vs Oakland are not great they are very solid vs Oak at home. However when Guillen held up at the end of ST to face Cle it backfired but he seems to be right again. Today not jumping in Chi because want to see Danks bounce back and Evland has been real good to date. Figured Greg Smith would pitch good as he was one of the key arms Oak got for Haren and the kid looks solid..I think most teams struggle with him first time around..

So curious to see where that line ends up. Think Chi Sox are now 4-2 vs LHP and Oak has show some issues with them . Remeber Lester was okay the 1st time and very good the second. They have hit Sabathia hard twice but Cliff Lee shut them down twice and Buerhle did a nice job...

bedtime....:tiphat:The only soft spot for them vs LH right now is the 7-9 batters entering today the top of the order was I believe 20-63 vs LH but Crede , Quentin and Uribe were 2-23...ouch...but they should all come around and Crede is working his way back , Quentin is still raw and Uribe as we know is real streaky all or nothing type hitter...

Haven't been betting a ton of bases, but how is Pelfrey -160. I'll give him his one start at PHI, but in general that guy is horrible. He shouldn't be pitching in the bigs. Need to look at it more, but it seems a bet on either the Nats or the over should be in order. Like I said I'm square as a box in MLB, but that just seems like a huge # for a bad AAA pitcher.

Think its the perfect spot to grab the Tigers, if they are going to start winning some games. Now is the time. Offense really picked up yesterday and that should give them some spark. Also my bucco's, always start off well. Will they be terrible by the end of the season? Absouletly, but April is a good month for hte Pirates

The total in the harang/dempste raffair is at 10.5 .... tells you all you need to know about the wind. Not touching that game with a ten foot pole.

StL -1.5 is the only bet I am interested in so far today.

I am scarred by Tampa giving up so many HR's last night, so I am hesitant to jump back into the water.

Texas -120 :

Besides the obvious I like the fact the LAA bottom of the lineup struggles vs Texas pitching.

Itzuris playing for Kendick actually has a 299 Avg vs them. However he is struggling at 139 this year and just 2/11 vs Millwood so far. Plus he is 150 on the road and 125 on grass. All year 5 hits all singles in 39atbats.

Mathis getting the start after the night game is only 5/33 vs Texas pitching. Thats 152 and 1/4 lifetime off millwood.

Aybar is 7 /38 184 career vs Texas pitching and 0/3 vs millwood. Also 10 hits just 1 double and 1 rbi so far despite hitting 303 on the year.

Other players-

Chone Figgins hitting leadoff is 0/21 with NO walks vs Millwood.

Sarge Jr is only 7/35 away this year but is decent going 4/14vs Millwood . He hast 297 vs one of his mny former teams.

Vlad vs Texas is like slow pitch softball for most. 406 career avg that ridiculous hitting streak he had vs them , etc , etc...He does crush Millwood 333 with 4 hrs in 72 atbats. The plus is just 273 avg away with no hrs and 11 ks in 33 atbats.

Anderson has shown a fairly huge decline past few seasons. Still he is 7/20 vs Millwood but no hrs and 1 rbi and double with 6ks. He is at just 176 away..

Hunter just like Vlad insane numbers. Dude hits 480 vs Millwood 12/25 with 2hrs and 9rbi. A plus is Hunter ony 214 away so far 6/28 with a solo hr.

Kotchman is 319 vs Texas , 455 away so far and 4/12 with 2 Hrs vs Millwood. So he is also a key bat.

So the pluses are basically how there leadoff hitter has struggled , how most of the Angels have struggled on the road on offense and how the bottom of the order has struggled vs Texas pitching. The bad is how well Vlad , Hunter and Kotchman have hit vs Millwood. So the key is make sure those guys hit with no men on base IMO....

Mosley will face 7 LHB. Which thos year they have hit at a 360 clip so far in 2 starts but only 223 last year. Have to think it was some sort of abberation to have that number when RHB were at 323.

Millwood was real solis in his 2 day starts this year going 13 inning allowing only 7 hits and 3 runs just 1 earned. Following up on his 3.86 day ERA last year but BAA was 241 compared to 320 at night.

Granted the Rangers bat dont exactly hit well in day games but Millwood on the hill also hopefully lessen the need for the bullpen late in the game as they have suffered some injuries there. Wilson has ben solid closing it as German and Benoit have been pretty good in setup roles. Big issue I see for Texas lately is while they are struggling to hit there SP has put them in the hole in most of there rect losses when they didnt they swept the Balt DH and lost in Xtras to Toronto. SO big key for them dont fall behind big early...

LAA hs some good day splits so far . Todays lineup is 32 for 116 but you then have to factor in the matchups vs Millwood. Last year Vlad just 270 in day games and two guys Hendrick and Cabrera had 323 day splits are not playing here( Cabrera obvioulsy a WSox now) Kotchman and Anderson great numbers 368 and 333 but AFter that most guys were 250 or less..Hunter was 246 in Minny.....

:cheers:Rangers -120 and some at -1.5 +170..

Rapuano behind the plate probably helps the UNDER but 10.5 is better then the current 10 though...Tex 5-3 ?

SN, I wish you'd explain your reasons for liking Texas a little more. Haha!

I hate being against you in the early game, but I like getting plus money on a better team. Millwood: 21 IP, 1.29 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, but I look for him to regress. LAA is hungry for some wins, and Texas is getting a little too much love from Vegas for being home and having Millwood on the mound.

i like the under and it's hard to disagree with you on rangers pitching... never know though, these two teams dont fuck around.. gl

Really interested in da WSox as well.

My feeling is they will hit LH well this year and today the minor tweaks should go along way to some improvement. Uribe is struggling and Ozuna only 256 Lyr vs LH in limited atbats was above 300 the previous 2 season with well over a 100atbats 322 and 306...actually 98abs that year.

Toby Hall was 288 and 292 in limited atbats past 2 years and while AJ has well vs LHs this year at leats knowing you get a RH vs a LH who also has decent splits you wont see a dropoff.

Real simple the guys who matter most are Quentin and Ramirez in the OF. Today it will be 9 RHB for Eveland. Sox have balsted 12 hrs in day games sofar...

Danks say his last start was mostly bad habits and mechanical issues that he worked on inbewteen so lets see. He was good in his day start vs CLE and better in day games last year. Oakland has been very avg vs LHs so far and struggles to score in day games...

Eveland has been real good so far. The game @ Tor shows alot since they hit LH well but they also are struggling with there bats.

WSox vs LHP
Sabathia 5.1 inn 6h 5 er
Robertson 5 inn 7 h 5 er
Willis 5 inn 1 hit 3 run ( key 7bb and no Ks)
Willis no outs recored 1 er 2 bbs ( key 2nd and 3rd no out when he left)
Rogers 4 inn 7 h 7er
G.Smith 7 inn 6 1 er

So for as bad as Sabthia has been and taking that with agrain of salt you have to do the same with Willis outings. He was terrible vs Chi the 1st time and said so afterwards. I mean 7 bbs and NO strikeouts says enough. The fact he allowed 1 hit is the benefit of being effectively wild and never throwing strikes..how many good pitches did Chi actually see to hit ? Also the second time he started vs them he was just about to get smoked as he couldnt throw a strike and had 2nd and 3rd no out but Lopez a RH came in and did well. They hit Roberston and Rogers very hard . It wasnt until top prospect Greg Smith who no one has really seen shut them down had any LH done. Smith is the first LH to complete 6 innings vs them.

So probably taking a stab at CHicago and maybe -1.5 RL..

Rangers -120 {2.25 units} -1.5 +170 {1/2U}
Wsox -110 {.75u} -1.5 +175 {.6u}
Rangers / WSox .5 u parlay....

GL all.....

Last year Millwood was slight fav against Ervin Santana and slight dog to Jered Weaver so vs Mosely -120 seems about right IMO...

yeah betting against losing streaks not always wise but #1 SP vs #5 SP..at even money basically I have to nibble...

GL BC!:shake::cheers:
