Baltimore's last 22 games of offense -

3, 16, 3, 2, 11, 4, 3, 7, 3, 3, 11, 3, 9, 4, 4, 2, 4, 2, 1, 14, 1 & 1 run totals.

_6 totals of 0-2 runs.
10 totals of 3-4 runs.
_6 totals of 5+ runs (27.2%)

Baltimore has now gone 23 games w/out posting consecutive 5+ run totals.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Baltimore has registered at least 1 Over result in their last 40 series (includes their current series vs Cleveland).

looking at the cheap price of harden now and maybe the tribe and white sox

any thoughts on the rockies vs the braves?

can the rockies avoid the sweep? when rockies need wins they turn to either cook (already lost) and ubaldo, can ubaldo save them?

UBALDO
10-12 4.2ERA 143K 88BB 1.47WHIP

JURRJENS
12-9 3.54ERA 126K 62BB 1.36WHIP

any thoughts on the matchup/game? seems like braves have an advantage everywhere but i have a feeling rockies avoid the sweep

thoughts?

thanks in advance

The Rockies know they're cooked re any p.s. hopes - do they care?

Tough read from afar . They all care its a matter of how they motivate themselves each day moving forward . hell I still care when I am playing a bs hoops game in a rec league . few athletes can play a sport evben in the worst circumstances and not care ....its just mentality are they defeated IMO.....they shouldt be but who knows ....Braves playing well now certainly could have given up long ago

Do kinda like COL here but not sure ....

why is this total only 8.5? i know liriano been pitching better as of late, but duckworth has never had a quality outing yet... how are the day splits for these teams?

Gotta like Gavin Floyd -120 @ home. B Jays the day after the 10 game winning streak with Fenway on deck...

Probably a great chance that KC doesnt crack 3 runs and well you know the rest . Look at the rest of the series it was lined at 9 with heavy under viggorish. KC has scored 3runs in 2 games vs Blackburn and Slowley so I guess its probablt realistic to say KC scores 2 here . Its a coin flip rather then explain every scenario. Think Twinkies are an UNDER team in the day . Does Mauer get a day off as he is one of there better day avgs.

Duckworth was okay vs DET . 3runs in 5 and 3 runs in 6 inn.

KC has had struggles all year vs Minny pitching scoring 4runs or more just 4 times so far...

I guess I could understand an over play but really think its could be like today where its just falls short...

Who knows I am steering clear of marginal plays freaking SD game pissed me off .....

The 9 at Oakland looks just a "tad" high after the A's played yesterday in Detroit and now fly back and play a game the next night. With two teams like these going nowhere, nobody should be a favorite!!!

I really could do without all the drama on the totals as I split my play on the Over at SD. It was 6-0 after 5, and then it doesn't go over until the top of the nineth! Shoulda, Woulda, and Coulda stayed off Estes because I felt he or Lowe were going to bounce off their last efforts. The first half total of 3 1/2 was way too low with the situation, ump and weather. Oh well, I broke even as I needed the money! violin

Not sure about that one.

Floyd really is mediocre at best.... and marcum is one of my favorite undervalued SP's and i think that elbow is finally getting healthy again..... hes been on some pitch counts while hes been rehabilitating but last start hewent a full 7 innings against TB.... K'ed 7 gave up only 4 hits and no ER throwing 103 pitches.... that was his first time he went deep in a game since aug 11 at detroit

Marcum has always been a streaky pitcher and i think its time to jump on the train again and ride him. When he is on, he is filthy.... and in his last 2 outings against the chisox he has pitched excellent gving up 0 and 1 earned runs.. going 6.2 and 8.0 innings and k'ing 7 and 8

Floyd has been known to have some problems stemming from leavin the ball up in the zone and also leaving the ball over the late---- resulting in giving up some hard hit balls, the jays have been on fire this last month hitting and been coming away with a barrage of extra base hits. I think floyd could get himself into some trouble tomorrow...
he generally gives up a lot of hits in general and this jays lineup has been very consistent from 1-9 and i can see any part of it giving him shits.

only thing that worries me is floyd has never faced the jays. so a little advantage for him there.

Well I will be playing some sort of prop there hoping jays momentum spilss over . Not sure if I go with both Jays 1st score of game or 1st inn Score YES props.....

Agree with Marcum he was great to the elbow flared up and maybe its behind him though I noticed since he got hurt weak lineups didnt give him a problem it was the deeper ones . Good thing is WSox are banged up so it could be soft in that sense.....

Thanks for the feedback Cap, very informative. The play is basically a "feel" on my part. Minny has Liriano going during the day, so most likely the Sox will know that they have to win at night or else the Twins have caught them for 1st. Plus I really love fading teams after long winning or losing streaks to do the same thing the next day. Just has been a profitable angle for me the last 2 years. But I do agree, the pitching matchup is almost even....GL bud.

:shake:

Gavin Floyd IMO reminds me of a Kendrick.... in the sense that he's a:

Mediocre pitcher at best, will almost never pitch a "gem" and is happy just snagging a quality start and putting his team in a position to win.

And on ANY given night is susceptible to getting lit up and pulled after 3-4 innings due to giving up too many hits and leaving the ball over the plate (like kendrick).

GAS CAN imo

^^^that maybe so, but when a team loses after a long winning streak, their next loss is rarely long in coming. Given they have Boston on the road next up, now is the time to leave the BJs alone, at least until they get their next/2nd loss out of the way.

Alright boys some quick points before I call it night . Kinda pissed because I think I got a concussion playing ball been lightheaded for awhile now and was dizzy playing the last 10 minutes . Which isnt normal for me as I have played 3 full league games (120 minutes straight) and 4 full league games (160 minutes straight) on the 2 previous Weds so its not some sort of fatigue or dehydration issue . Caught a clean shot under my chin followed by some idiot who tried to block me going to hole and took a full swing and hit nothing but my head flush ...of course no foul the ref said he thought he hit the ball guess my head looks like an orange ball. Which was like moments later . Had one concussion a few year sback and got because some moose hit me with a clean elbow shot run under my jaw . Not nearly as bad . It was almost funny and scary at the sametime . Cause I couldnt see for awhile and when my vision came back I literally did see stars...my bell was rung .....

Enough about me......

have to look at Twins mL or RL in the early one hoping KC starts hardly anyone because they hit LHP on and off . They didnt do much vs Zjackson and Lee recently but who nows.

One thing to investigate is the Orioles vs LHSP . Since 8-18 they faced 9 LHP and went 1-8 defeating only John Danks at Camden .

This week alone they have faced 4 and lost all with Scott Lewis (ML debut) , Jeremy Sowers , Greg Smith and Dallas Braden .
L7-1
L6-1
L5-1
L11-2 ( 8 runs late on like no hits in this OAK game)

They lost away @ Boston 14-2 facing Lester and 14-3 facing Kazmir .

They beat Danks 11-3 to avoid the sweep as a huge home pup. They lost 4-3 to Clayton Richard that series and 6-3 to Lester .....

Pretty obvious offense is the main issue and Mora's absence certainly hurts.

Previous to this stretch they had played 11 straight overs facing a LHSP and 14 of 15 went OVER ......but its swung the other way recently ..

Bass was medicore for Minny what does a fresh start do ?

Hard to like Orioles here IMO but not running to lay road chalk with Zach Jackson either . This Lewis kid is a better prospect .

With Bass he had a 2.92 home ERA but on the road it ballooned it 6+ . So while its not the metroDome it is now home . Which could make an UND interesting ...11.5 is real high...

Tough to fade Floyd winner of 13 of 15 at home but Marcum could be tough ...

OVER SEA @ LAA ...Weaver was skipped to get healthy and not a great past vs SEA . SEA used some pen today as well . Morrow off the almost NO_NO speaks regression to me ......LAA in a slugfest >??

Depending on lineups (Bradley missing would be huge) looking at OAK . Braden has been solid as a SP and might go 1st 5 inn . Texas has poor history away vs LHSP....
Think 5-16 recently some more runs scored but still about 70% of those they scored 3 or less .....back from DET not that bad but it was a long trip....

Sheets rollin 20 inn 12 h 0 runs last 3 starts and great success past few years @ Philly ...Moyer though solid as well ...have to look at under I guess tough to figure a side but lean MILW because donttrust Phillys pen in a close one

Can ATL get an UNDER ? Feels like I been moosed 3 straight days ....tight game cant trust either pen lean Jiminez because Jarjar hasnt done much ..

Under @ Houston ? Duke is getting his stuff together and Roy is off a 1 hitter . So 2 shutouts scares me some but Pitt could have value here ...though Roy enetering this year had 6 straight starts last 2 season allowing 0 or 1 vs Pitt ...Duke good history as well including 08. Duke beat Oswalt 5-2 early June though ...rematch and payback ?

Think 7.5 is way to low for the tota @ STL but lean STL cause Harden's health is questionable nad to often he has exited after 5 inn but the kid has owned the NL.....still to low IMO when you get a 9 total this evening......STL HUGE UND TREND on Thursdays but Cubs 8-1 Over L9 thursdays

Cain looks interesting but he is 1-8 vs SD in 07 and 08.....mix in a minislump and you dont want to pay for 11% chance of winning looking at 2 seasons.....

CFB- UNC +6

Would doubt I am around tmrw since its 9/11 and the day is kinda important to me but chances are I wont be doing much so will be around at night .......

BOL be around for 10 minutes or so ........

Since July the 6th, the Chicago Cubs are...

- 33-7 SU (.825) when they've totaled 3+ runs (26-13-1 to Over)

- 1-15 SU (.062) when they've totaled 0-2 runs (14-2 to Under)

Chicago's last 13 games of offense -

2, 6, 3, 2, 3, 0, 7, 0, 2, 14, 3, 3 & 4 run totals.

5 totals of 0-2 runs
5 totals of 3-4 runs
3 totals of 5+ runs (23.0%)

to say gavin floyd is a gas can is obsurd. i've watched pretty damn close to every game and there have been multiple times gavin has had a no hitter in the 5th and 6th inning. he has the possibly the nastiest shit on our staff besides contreras forkball or vazquez slider. i don't know how someone could call this guy a gas can. have you ever seen him pitch?

concussions are rough, SN...i've had a few and none were fun

...i do like the Pads tomorrow despite not knowing this starter from a migrant worker, but that's largely because of how poorly the Giants hit today

Toronto is considering pitching Halladay, A.J. Burnett and Jesse Litsch on short rest this weekend against Boston. … The White Sox will use Javier Vazquez on three days’ rest. Vazquez, who pitched the opener of a doubleheader on Tuesday, is the scheduled starter Saturday against Detroit.

Brett Myers believes the Phillies are pressing. Charlie Manuel wants his team to start having fun again.

Whatever ails the Phillies, they need to fix it fast if they want to return the playoffs for the second straight season.

...

“We’re just pressing so hard to make up ground in one game,” said Myers, who took the loss.

...

At this point last season, the Phillies were six games behind the Mets and ended up winning the division on the final day. But there’s a crucial difference between the NL East champions and this year’s team.

“I think the difference is, last year we were hot,” Manuel said. “We had enough pitching to get through. We were energetic. We had life. We really got after it.”

There was little fun for the Phillies on Wednesday.

Reliever J.C. Romero and catcher Chris Coste appeared aggravated with each other on the mound after the lefty allowed a two-run double in the ninth. Jimmy Rollins shot a look at center fielder Shane Victorino after a lazy throw into the second base on the same play.

“We let it get away from us there at the end,” Manuel said.

A baseball team pressing is like a gambler forcing bets - things are going to end in tears. A Phillies team potentially coming psychologically undone is one that has to be looked at being backed against.

The Brewers have just been exposed to the same kind of fire, with a late come-from-behind win Weds. after a couple of gruelling lost-from-ahead games, and they've come through.

In Cains last 10 starts for SF vs SD the Giants are 2-8, I have to believe there is not an active starting pitcher in mlb who is that bad vs SD. Why is Cain/SF favored?? Cains last 3 starts : era 6.11,17.2 inn,24 hits,12 runs all earned,9 k's,10 bb,1 hr,whip 1.92. Sd & the OVER look good to me.

KC 11-5 against winning teams in third game of a series. I may throw a little change on KC here. Also liking the UNDER quite a bit.

Good luck fellas.

I don't see Minny laying egg. Minny has all the advantages, much better pitcher, tough at home,hp plate favors home favorites 6-2. High price I know, but why throw $$$ away on a dog that struggles to score vs top of the line pitcher, imo pass or lay the wood.

Not much time. looks like both teams with solid lineups although KC thin hitting German more in the middle of the order ...

L23 games KC only 9-23

Get this they have lost 14 straight facing a rhp and are 2-17 in that span and vs LHSP 7-6 .....

however its even crazier .....Meche has 4 wins in this span(including LH Pettite , Jackson ) , Duckworth beat Gambler twice , while Grienke , Bannister , Davies beat three OAK LHS Meyer , Eveland and Gio probably the 3 weakest IMO o OAKs trio.....

KC is 2-11 on turf and 14-30 past 3 years

Minny home fav lasying 250 to 330 is 2-0 this yr and 7-0 past 3 years and 17-1 since 1997......

*** game for Minny ending a home stand looking to go 4-2 and have a nice road trip coming up remember there last one , not so good...

I dont want to hype an obvious play on Minny but its real hard to see KC winning here .....might think about KC +1.5 if your looking for a value play @ +125 of KC 1st 5 inn ML....

Time was short I took a tiny stab at KC 1st ML and have Twins a 4 team parlay . Actually kinda liked the over because I cant see KC keeping it close on pitching would have to be because they scored 4 runs today somehow...confusing game to figure ....Minny needs it bad and past history shows they succeed in these spots but KC only glimmer of hope is vs a LHSP....BOL

Hope to see some come in on Texas, bring Oakland down a few...Think -110 or so by game time as people will see value in Texas, but A's playing better, Braden pitching great right now, Nippert not. Texas hits R better than LH's. Texas bull pen still can give up the runs, A's bullpen getting better.

Atlanta -125 OVER 8.5 -115 - COL are 3-14 in the last 17 meetings in Atlanta. COL are 4-12 in Jimenezs last 16 road starts. Over is 17-5-2 in the last 24 meetings in Atlanta.

Pitts +1.5 +115 - Duke ain't pitching half bad right now. Oswalt a better home pitcher than the road, but his ERA is also HIGHER @ home than the road.

Over 7.5 +110 SF @ SD...Both Cain and Geer not pitching all that well right now. Both bullpens know how to give up the late runs, (Right Giants?!) The better starter right now is Geer, and SD as a home dog, (+110) not a bad play as well.

SN or anyone,

What is "Old Man" Moyers record pitching on 3 days rest? A big move has come on Moyer and he is now favored at my book. It looks like Philadelphia is really pressing the panic button as well as having team discension.

With teams both fighting for their lives, the dog looks more appealing!

he has done once a year for the past 3 seasons with what I would say are good or typical Moyer results .

6.2inn 2r 7h 1hr 2bb 3k
6.2inn 3r 9h 1hr 1bb 2k
5.1inn 1r but unearned 5h 1bb 4k

But in 2004 he did it 3 times with terrible overall results

Awesome hit for you KC-UND backers ...congrats .......

Getting back to yesterdays comments :

Balt is now 1-9 L10 games vs a LSHP see the above post for some deeper thoughts
Cle is 10-1 L12 away vs RHSP .
Balt is 7-23 L30 at home vs LHP and 15-40 L55 overall

Bass was actually very solid pitching at home it was 2 terrible relief apps that killed his stats where he went 2.2 inn total allowing 13 hits and 12 runs I believe in sepearte 1.1 inn stints @ Boston and @ Det .....he has pitched 4 inn in relief early on so I would think he can do 4 inn here maybe 5 have to check his ML work.

Depending on lineups though hard to pass on CLE even with Z.Jackson dealing but looking more at the 1st 5 inn UNDER......

I am tentative to play CLE cause feel it will be one of those games where everyone jumps on them thinking Bass sucks but he is medicore at worst.....

Meals is 10-4 away team L14 and also 17-5-1 UNDER his past 23 CLE games...

The other play is probably a strong one on Over 8 LAA . LAA will be shorthanded but I expect Morrow after a near no no to struggle especially since he is now on the road . Remember all season long Yanks have had trouble with those unfamiliar RHPs . So its not a complete suprise he embarrassed the Yanks IMO . Weaver coming back from missing 10 dyas or so with cuts on his pitching fingers which he says are healed . The trick is how is his feel for the baseball ? Even he said he isnt sure what type command he will have . Sea has hit him in the past . Ibanez is well above 500 vs him.

The rest would be looking at Pitt +1.5 RL , Oak ML , over @ Toronto depending on what it closes if the vig remains heavy on the under then like 9 even but prefer 8.5 over -120...., Over at STL think 7.5 is to low but waiting for the lineups and possibly SEA they made Mariners chalk and he owns Weaver , and then maybe over @ SFG ...I do prefer alot of overs today and did play GS over 89.5 runs

So 2 road outinsg totaled 2.2inn 13 H 12 R 12ER which is nearly 1/3 the runs he allowed all year and neraly half his away runs ....still medicore but not nearly as ugly . However the BAA for RHBs concerns me most since CLE should have a bunch ....

angels have struggles greatly against nobody pitchers....remember waters? That was water's 1st EVER start and sarfate's 2nd or 3rd. He looked like a Cy Young. There are also a number of other pitchers that i cant recall that angels couldnt hit but everyone else and their mom could. Morrow has an actual fastball, im not so sure I'd hastily fade him based on that logic....something to think about.

I'd like to add Dustin Nippert to that list...that...was shocking.

Angels locked up the AL west last night and got drunk and partied. Hell, i even saw it on TV. Would be weary to rely on those bats after such festivities..

thank you SN. that was fuckin monsterous for me because i had KC ML & under 9 parlayed. 5:1 two teamer is what im talkin about. my books must have thought i was crazy to put that much stock in fuckin duckworth. hahhahah

I prefer SEATTLE but pretty certain I play the over . How or why hits I really dont care but feel strong about it .....

Wouldnt suprise me to see SEA run up an 8 spot themselves......and LAA has some guys who can swing it stuck on 200 avgs ....just playing the pattern more then anything .....

Plus bullpens huge issue in this one .

Waters is LH though and just look at LH and RH as basically 2 different life forms ...one's alien (the LH) and the other human (the RH) ...all joking aside I do seperate them ...

Sarfate was okay and dude throws peas but flat ones....

Its just one of those games where you aks yourself who on Earth is looking at this going Brandon Duckworth makes sense lets back KC . You know everyone is pounding that Twinkie -1.5 RL which is why I should have listened to my recommendation to play KC +1.5 RL ....instead push the 1st 5 inn and lose a parlay but had UNDER RHE prop to even it out ...no loss but no gain and I talked myself out of an under to an over lean...

....Congrats and GL:shake:

For the LAA game I still want to see what type of lineup SEA throws out there before I play it......even LAA I guess...I dont want a SpringTraining game

I'd actually prefer the angels to play guys like brandon wood and sean rod, who are playing well and still in the process of proving themselves.. Guys like hunter and GM jr. are a red flag in terms of motivation in my eyes... i agree though, def a lineup decesion.

mil @ phi : I am absolutely loving this line i'm gettin on the crewers. i have a good feel for milky games lately, and i think the win last night will get them going. few things to ponder...
1. sheets is on fire, and werth/victorino/utley/howard/rollins are a combined 6-40 w/ no doubles, no homers, 3 RBI's, and only 3 walks. are burrell and stairs going to carry this team. i tend not to think so tonight.
2. you may not believe it but milwaukee has pretty much the same road record as phillies home record, so thats gravy.
3. milwaukee simply feasts on left handers. 31-17 on the year and have a team batting avg .275 compared to .247 against righties. a lot of the key guys for milwaukee have nice numbers against moyer including braun 3-3 w/ a double.
4. moyer is not reliable at all at home, in fact he has a .302 batting avg against at home compared to .229 on the road. also gives up .300 w/ RISP which is obsurdly high for a quality pitcher.
5. brew crew are a dope 28-14 in one run games this year, which is critical in what i see as a really low scoring battle.
6. milky avg 5.2 runs/game against lefties and their bullpen is actually better on the road this year. i expect sheets to go 7-8 innings though.
milky .311 against lefties last 10 days and .192 against righties.

I think I'm gonna pound milwaukee, i like 1st 5 innings ML as well. i like the under but it is a tough number w/ these offenses and books set it to attract under money (if you just look at sheets and moyer lately, combined w/ their history against the respective opposition)

SN,

Just came in right now and saw your post. Thanks so much for taking the time to research that. Hope you are feeling better as money can't buy good health.

May you have a great finish for the baseball season and plenty of winners in football. :shake:

col @ atl : two of my favorite pitchers. these young guns have loads of potential and should be around for years. they have not been pitching that well recently however. there numbers are pretty damn similiar, both pitched around 170 innings, both given up only 10 homers, both give up shit ton of steals 22 steals/3 caught vs. 19 steals/ 3 caught. both walk a lot of guys, and ubaldo strikes out more people, jair goes for more contact.
this line smells a little fishy if you look at everything. why so cheap on ATL, when ubaldo is known as a road loser w/ no run support, rox have lost 4 straight, and jair has a much better record against the rox than ubaldo has against the braves. a few things im looking at tonight (i had ATL last night) colorado is 22-19 in one run games, ATL is 8-27. rox bullpen has MUCH, MUCH better numbers (rox road ERA 3.53 and they save the game 70% of the time, ATL home ERA 4.32 and only saving 60% of games.) my favorite part of a bet on the rox tonight is that these pitchers dont give up homers, they give up steals, WELL the rox have 133 steals on the year, ATL has a measly 49. get your track shoes out boys... big advantage for colorado.
rox have been a profitable bet as a small road dog and ATL is a losing bet as a small home fav. i think it will be close or tied when the pens come in and i would give the edge to the rockies. i have to say bet on the rox or nothing...

tor @ cws : as BC stated earlier in the thread be VERY careful betting on teams who just got a win streak snapped, letdown is imminent. these two pitchers are tight as hell so to throw up a 9 is pretty ridiculous. this should soar over the total and ill tell why. marcum is the shit, but he has major letdowns on the road. he has given up 21 HR's on the year, 14 HR have been on the road compared to 7 at home. (He has pitched 30 less innings on the road) 4.37 road ERA is nothing to write home about. he has gotten som sick run support on the road, 6.7 runs/game, so he has gotten som cheap wins. he might cruise through our lineup the first time through but i think once we see what he has tonight we will get to him.
long story short gavin floyd gets the dopest run support in the league. (not that he even needs it half the time). he gets an avg of 7.67 runs/game at home. and he has gotten 4 runs or less only 9 times out of his 28 starts (32%). floyd has given up a ridiculous 32 steals on the year (might be most in the league, not sure) but luckily toronto doesnt steal much 78 steals and most of it is rios. i don't expect either pitcher to get out tonight unscathed and both bullpens could get hit as well IMO.

chisox and over 9....
