Thursday Discussion Thread

all just initial thoughts havnt started capping anything yet:

With the way milw totally shut down the pads bats it really tough to be very optimistic in another series with lad!! I have no idea on that weathers kid, I’m assuming he more of a long reliever since thus far 3.2 innings last time out vs lad the most he thrown. I dunno if he has the stuff to limit lad seeing hint again so soon? If he does maybe Ff under be bout only thing I could see playing, I’m not gonna look till morning tho.

ill be really curious to see if Castano can hold sf down again after seeing him? he kept them really off balance but he didn’t strike out one guy thru 5 innings. I expected giants to hit him the 1st time which obviously didn’t happen. Despite the rematch I think benefiting the hitters in this one, I think the situation with both teams playing wed then traveling from east to cali prob favors the pitching. I passed on this Ff under when these 2 pitchers met up to start the series last week in mia and regretted it, once again I’ll have a hard time playing it here cause I think castano incredibly hittable. thing is I think it fairly safe to assume at least 3 of this 4 game series goes under Ff just like all 3 did in mia. No idea what I’m gonna do here, lol.

Houston is starting to get guys back from the Rona shutdown correct? I saw bregman was back in col and Alvarez pitch hit, no DH only reason he wasn’t starting I believe. I assume the others be back shortly but think we gotta see them start hitting before trusting them so prob some with laa as dogs.

I don’t know if Cubs outburst last night was a sign of them coming to life or just a random thing and they will revert back to not hitting today much like cards do anytime the day after they score a lot? I know errors and walks had a lot to do with all those runs so I dunno, I know muts not playing all that well to be laying -125 here imo. They have only scored 13 runs the 5 games of this road trip so line don’t make a ton of sense. Dog or nothing for me.

Don’t see a total yet but yanks non hitting asses coming to Cleveland seems to me like a good time to get back on some tribe Ff unders that I’ve ditched playing lately. German hasn’t pitched for quite some time tho and I gotta look and see what his issues been, good news for him he gets to face tribe!! As long as Civale doesn’t mind extra rest I don’t see much reason why he can’t hold down the slumping yanks bats in cold weather?

Don’t think I’ll make it to casino early enough to worry bout either the day games. Not much of a card but I’ll try to find a few.

Mets are a mess. They aren’t hitting and unless it’s Degrom, who at his prices is unbackable unless you think he goes 9, or Stroman I don’t want to back that staff

im often pretty happy to take the +1.5 at nice price against degrom. He is a bad ass tho, I just never seen a guy be so dominant and so often not get the W, been going on forever with him!! Muts should be ashamed of themselves he doesn’t win 25 games a year!!

He literally has to hold a team scoreless and even when he does half the time the pen can’t hold the lead. It’s embarrassing

I want to say he had the rbi that gave them the lead vs Philly before pen blew that one!! Then he scored a run in Colorado but had 3 unearned runs against him thanks to that miserable defense Mets playing. He deserves so much better!

I really thought this was the year they finally were putting a team around him that was legit. I know it’s early but it doesn’t look it yet

Yeah I mean they will start hitting but don’t want to bury yourself early

nobody in East playing well enough to fall behind. I think ya’ll are actually in 1st, win percentage wise! Only team above .500!

Im starting to think fish could be best team in East! When they get Sixto back their rotation will be so good.

Acuna the only brave consistently hitting and who knows how long he out now?

Phillly inconsistent.

Nats havnt hit yet either.

with all the teams being so close I think this gonna be a all season thing so it might only be 85-90 wins that takes the east.

Marlins are sneaky good but not sure they have enough.

Nats offense has been bad, and if straus can’t comeback healthy and be himself max can’t do it all himself.

Phillies are gonna be the Phillies. Pitching has been better, Bryce is hitting, but still eh.

Braves pitching hasn’t been great..yet, but it should be. Offense is acuna, freeman, ozuna

lucchesi has proven to me he'll never be a quality SP, kicking myself for not fading him last start but like the idea today even if A) i'm not a fan of the CHC offense and B) i'm not a fan of Trevor Williams

Weathers is a young buck high draft pick with good stuff who debuted in the playoffs last year. THat's usually a good sign that he's legit, not offering a ton of length early in his career though so more chances for the SD bullpen to implode

relying on Ozuna can be problematic as all cardinals fans know. He was great for Atl last season in 60 games but getting consistent effort from him over 162 good luck! That why nobody will give him the big contract he has wanted forever, everyone knows he a flake!!

Considering Snakes/Reds completed Tuesdays game first then went 10 innings last night, seems like an early game today with tired arms on both sides could see some runs.

Interesting stat they mentioned last night, AZ was hit by one pitch until this road trip where they've been hit by 10 in 5 games!

Have i mentioned lately how bad it pisses me off they refuse to give out the umpire crew for new series?!?? Just ignorant! Which obviously means I like a total!

yanks/tribe Ff u4

I have backed off playin these tribe Ff unders but this seems like a good one with the light hitting yanks coming to town (that fun to say, lol).

I gotta assume German ironed some things out at the alternate training site? His stuff still looks like the same stuff that propelled him to a 18-4 record in ‘19, velo actually better, pitch mix fairly close just few less sinkers and few more change ups which shouldn’t be a bad thing. If he ever gonna get it turned around this be the day against struggling tribe bats who sporting a collective .650 ops vs rhp thus far!!

not to be outdone yanks are 29th in baseball with a .625 ops vs righties! Havnt seen anything to make me believe they close to turning things around. Don’t see how cold and windy Cleveland against a solid pitcher with lot a pitches gonna make their offense come to life! Odds are they continue struggling and this a nice low scoring game when the starters hand the game over to pens. Both pens good so I could possibly make a case for the fg under instead of Ff but it been so long since I played anything other than Ff for under! (It did burn me in game 2 the Jays/Sox series where Ff went over but the 5 scored thru 4 was pretty much it other than 1 late run by Jays to easily go under full game, that annoyed me!).,

I’d love to hear some others thoughts on this Castano pitcher for fish. I apologize but I forget who it was who played the giants/fish under when he pitched opening game of series last week? We talked bout game for a minute!

I played giants instead of under cause I thought San Fran would hit this lefty junk baller but I was wrong as he kept them off balance for 5 innings only allowing 1 run, he didn’t strike out anyone but he got them to roll over a ton and avoided any barrels. Now I gotta figure out if he can do that again? I tend to embrace pitchers that can pitch to light contact but I find it tough to get behind this kid, particularly against a team who had been hitting lefties fairly well!

Sanchez pitched the 2nd game of the series, he was decent i suppose, he pitched well enough to get the Ff under against alcontera and keep giants in it. he mostly just pitched around a lot of trouble as he allowed 5 hits and 3 walks over 4.2 innings before being yanked to be helped out a jam in 5th.

so we now have these 2 squaring off and both could potentially be hit but they in what I’d consider pretty advantageous spot for the pitcher with both teams flying out west after ending swings on east coast yesterday and playing in another pitcher friendly park. Man this really tough, I’m guessing that why we can actually get 4.5 here which generous for these 2 teams. I think gotta just hold our nose and play situation over lack of confidence in pitchers and go with Ff u4.5 if there a play to be made here?

we discussed it, i played it and i'll play it again tonight

kinda feel like fish/giants way closer to a coin flip than line indicates. Either one those pitchers could get roughed up or they both could wiggle thru 5 innings without much damage. either way feels closer than line indicates (I know I love the fish! Lol).

sorry. I forgot it was you. You think he will keep giants off balance again? Last time San Fran had DeSciafani on the bump who I trust way more than Sanchez. So I really dont get why giants bigger favs here? Just cause of home field? They both on same travel coming from stints out east.

Anyone know if Buehler velo been consistently down or did it start down and that why his average velo so much lower right now? He walking fewer guys than ever which obviously good, but he missing less bats and his k/9 way down, that doesn’t have to be bad if he inducing weak contact but his hard contact rate up considerably from last year which obviously bad. So is his 2era sustainable like that? Pads not hitting at all at the moment. Given what GW said about weathers I’m inclined to lean Ff u4 in this one.

i like that they're both coming from the east, I like that both pitchers have seen each other recently and have a recipe to attack, I like that they are in a big ballpark, I like that Castano second time through the order the the BA drops alot, I like that runs scored are in the bottom half for both these teams.

I’ve always been a huge Cobb fan and he missing bats at a way higher rate than ever before in his career, not sure how I feel bout the fact he hasn’t pitched in what seems like forever tho.

I love that they both coming from east with no day off. Didnt notice that bout Castano, def trust him in bigger parks more. Think I’m gonna be on fish and under. Gl tonight

ya i'll try to find the number I found, but both these offenses can leave alot to be desired..sanchez, if his curveball is on his fb sets it up nicely and he can hit heat with ease.

oh I know the offenses def the weak spots. I been playing fish Ff unders a lot the last 2 years. I was just spooked last week cause giants had been hitting lefty pitchers pretty well up to that point and Castano just don’t miss many bats (I played Ff under in games 2 and 3 of that series). I trust him more now after watching him induce a bunch of weak contact even tho he didn’t strike anyone out in that game he kept San Fran hitters off balance the entire time. I think fish pen has pitched much better lately than they did early in the season also. They both play in such pitcher friendly parks too!!

Throw a damn strike for Christ sakes! I mean you get paid really nicely that the least ya could do!! Well I guess this would be the least they can do! Lol

Yeah was kinda expecting some weak pen action today and wind blowing out at 10mph in this ballpark, stars kinda aligned

great call brotha. Can’t remember last time I had a over go this well! It happens just not often enough!! Lol

devil's advocate here, but when does travel ever benefit the offense?

I didn’t mean to imply it did? When I was listing positives and negatives to the under I had the travel as a positive for the under, or I meant to anyways. Lol

SP always travel early if it's judged to be dodgy timing, i just don't ever see the situation benefitting the hitter so i just don't really look at those things anymore

some, but HOU has come down after starting the year real hot and i don't think that COVID returnees just pick up a bat and start smacking the ball around right away. Do not feel good about the LAA pen though

yea I agree. Bregman looked little better yesterday but he the only one who has some games under his belt. Alvarez was available but no dh so didn’t play other than a pitch hit chance. I don’t think altuve is back yet is he? Looks like Javier hasn’t pitched in some time either, was he part the Rona or just sent down? Stros pen is pretty vulnerable also. Wrong team seems favored to me.
