Thanksgiving Week 12 NFL Discussion

Pretty much a regular
Great slate of games for Turkey Day. The Cowboys win at Miami made this matchup significant.... should be a doozy

Openers for Thanksgiving

Surprised that Dallas opened so low. I was thinking -3 given how big a public team Dallas is.... that line should get plenty of action for da boys

Good to see the annual lid-lifter in Detroit is back to being a dud again. Dead coach walking, X2. Everyone's usually a little groggy that morning, no need for a meaningful game.

Only coach walking the green mile is Chip, Caldwell's vacant ass is most likely saved.

chip isnt going anywhere i dont think. if you give a guy as much power as they gave him, u cant fire him. i think he at least gets one more year to right his ship. not saying i want him here any longer, but i dont think they can cut the cord so soon after giving him full power.

Wish they had saved the Pats/Boys game for Turkey Day.

Given Dallas' record as a home fave, and the fact they aren't great, I will be all over Carolina. Lean over in the late game, but if GB's D plays like they did yesterday I see bad things for Chi.

@SportsInsights: Double-digit home dogs in the NFL have covered the spread over 61% of the time since 2003 (via @Bet_Labs). SF currently +10.5 vs. Arizona.

Love turkey day. No presents, just food, football and love. I think there should be some good games this year. I see Greem Bay hammering Chicago though. That crowd will be ecstatic. Starr, Favre and Rodgers all on the same field at once.

There are rumblings now that Pettine might put Johnny Screwball back on the bench for the Monday nighter for being an asshat over the bye. Non-committal at the presser today. McCown did set a franchise record for passing yards last month vs. these Ravens, team's last win, so there's that too.

I just don't get this. He didnt get arrested he didnt get involved in any incidents. Hes a 22 year old during a bye week. If the coach wanted to punish everyone who partied during the off week, they wouldnt be able to field a team. I think its clear they just dont like JFF

He's the quarterback of a NFL franchise that apparently went to rehab. It's not the same as another position.

I don't see how people can still defend this guy.

What's to like?

I might tolerate the guy if he were any good. Browns probably feel the same way.

On my 40-year watch of Cleveland sports, I've never disliked one of our pro athletes more. He's a world class asshole, that much we know. Can't wait 'til he's gone.

Dallas may be a 5 unit play. Gotta wait and see some things but it has all the makings

i think they are a diff team with homo back you can see everyone plays just a lil harder cuz they know they may win..... dallas is on my radar for a survivor pick risky but not many other solid ones and i just feel dallas makes a run here down the stretch and seems like as goos as situation for carolina to get there first L

He's a distraction. The negatives of having him on the team or in the league for that matter outweigh the positives. It's not a right to be in the NFL. It's a privledge.

You know that Rivera is telling his players that the world thinks they are frauds.... Nobody thinks they're real contenders blah blah blah. Even with heavy public action on the panthers I'm on the fence. The Cowboys definitely need this game much more but it could also be a statement game for the panthers

Having been to all but three Turkey day games in the last 2 decades for Detroit I believe the 8-20 record for said time is a little deceiving. I am aware of their 9 game streak as it was during my ticket holding era between the blessed Silverdome and Ford field. I missed the positive number but placed decent action this morning. Call it a homer play or whatever you like. The dome will be full, that's guaranteed. Turkey day the lions play like it's a new season, regardless if this one is complete shit...AGAIN. I feel home field on Turkey day is worth at least a field goal. Lots of players to have family in town. BOL. Happy Thanksgiving

Carolina has won 14 regular season games in a row yet they're a great fade at PK v a 3-7 team?! Give me a break.

Yes because that's exactly how capping works! Look at record and bet the team with the better record. So simple.

they play in the NFC south. It's not that impressive.

Really?! Thanks so much for explaining how capping works thru your (lame) sarcasm. 14-0 in the NFL is 14-0 in the NFL...this isn't the NBA. 14-0 in the NFL is always impressive. Winning games consistently is never an easy endeavor in this league.

14-0 is impressive. The Panthers will not get there. 10-0 on a schedule were they've only played one team that had a winning record. The panthers have great clock management skills and love to control the game. Romo gets an early lead they simply cannot put the game on Cams arm. He sucks there I said it. Great playing with a lead, doesn't have the skill set to abandon the run game and sling the rock. IMO

Probably not going to play the game. But if there is one team that takes less advantage of HFA, it's the Cowboys. Since opening Jerry's World, there record at home is pedestrian.

Situation favors Dallas, but I have read too many times about situational handicapping being pure crap this year.

This has not been the case @ home for Dallas over the last 4 years or so, as I recall. I've not gone back to confirm but I have made a few $$ taking Boys' opponents in 1H quite a few times

Tough games today for sure. Good arguments can be made for any of the sides today. I am on Dallas and Phi/Det under. I've heard all the arguments for Carolina, but would love to hear thoughts as to why the under in Detroit is a bad play. Detroit's defense is playing well And I don't think anyone expects a Sanchez led Eagles team to put up a bunch of points. Just seems like the best play in that game. Someone tell me what I'm missing...

14 straight regular season wins is impressive in the NFL, Regardless of the schedule. It's kind of ridiculous to try to discount what Carolina has done to this point. My wager on Dallas is more about Dallas and less about Carolina. Dallas is a completely different (and Much more confident) team with Romo and Bryant healthy. Not only do they need this game to stay in the playoff hunt but I'm sure they remember the beating they took last year at the hands of Philadelphia on Turkey Day. I'm fairly certain we see Dallas' "A" game today. I don't think anybody will think any less of Carolina if they lose in the spot. IMO, this is a game they should lose.

lol it was sarcasm.... Relax. Don't worry about my handle. Has nothing to do with my knowledge of this thing we do on a daily basis. 14-0 is impressive. It's just not a reason to continue backing a team. It says a lot about coaching. But you used the Cowboys being 3-7 as a reason to not go against the panthers. Really? Line makers clearly don't care about the Cowboys 3-7 record because they know this is a different team when the top 5 quarterback is behind center. Dallas backers aren't fading Carolina. They're playing on Dallas.

Situationally, this is a must win game for the Cowboys. Lose and their season is done. The panthers can either be looking forward to thanksgiving.... Or it's a statement game for them to show the world they aren't frauds.

havnt been against panthers at all this season i dont believe, certainly havnt been betting them a lot either.

im going against them today, who knows if im right but imo it very simple to explain. if romo didnt get injured i think it very hard to debate that this would be a potential playoff preview between 2 leaders of their divisions and the line would be dal-3 at the least, probably higher.. dal was one of the best teams in the nfc last season and if anything i think they improved adding talent to the d and really only losing murry. record means nothing to me as there couple ways to look at it, if Cam was out 7 games how many would have panthers won? maybe a few cause their schedule been very generous but not many imo. it also very easy to look at dal during the losing streak and make a case they go 5-2 with romo. wanna say 4-3 im ok with that but i actually think they could have easily been 6-1. either way they be the front runners in this garbage division.

The league is a fucked up place right now.

Only consistencies are the Pats and Panthers.

Every other team could lose to anyone on any given day and every cover is a mistake away from a non-cover.

As for Scam, dude threaded it yesterday on 3rd and long a number of times and moved the chains.

Never expected that, perhaps he has become an actual MVP. My stance is changing.

The situation is dead in football, funeral service was held yesterday.

seems people got murked yeaterday at the books

Cam is the deal. So tired of saying it. And he has been good for a while now.

There's just a lot of parity in the league right now IMO. The league has a lot of issues that I do not like. The lack of true running back talent is sick. It hurts the product a lot. Teams are using multiple backs far too much and that really fucks things up during crunch time.

The officiating/rule book issues speak for themselves. No need to keep bringing it up.

Tough card tomorrow.

Anytime you expect the Giants to win a game, more likely than not they'll find a way to lose. The Gmen are getting prince back and Eli has failed nicely vs the skins but I can't put my money on the Giants. Jordan Reed should beast.

I do like the Jaguars but thinking I'll put them in a ml parlay instead of ATS. Yeldon props as well.

The 49ers play better at home. The spread is ridiculous. 49ers or pass.

Think I've made my thoughts on Mariota pretty clear in the past. Doesn't impress me. The raiders are hands down the better football team

Im going to be on the Broncos ML tomorrow night. The pats have issues. If Rex and the bills weren't so retarded the bills should have won last week IMO. The Broncos do everything the bills do on defense. Just better. And they are actually a competent offense. The pats undefeated season ends tomorrow and Cam's case for MVP gets real legs.

I tend to agree with nba on the Pats....they should have lost Monday and they have so many issues on offense that I do not see how they overcome them in Mile High on the road against that defense after a Monday night game causing them a day of prep....I see a low scoring game with the Bronco's coming out on top....but I hope i'm wrong
