Selection Sunday In-Game Thread

I'm interested for other reasons

ASU leaping Boise would be criminal and I consider them my second team

If ASU gets a bye they will likely get to play in Glendale which is another animal

Lew's last ride for Mercedes on ESPN coming up...all time elite athlete and it's not the end of the road since he'll be driving for Ferrari next year, it's still the end of one helluva era

Do they have to rank Clemson over SMU? Will Clemson jump South Carolina? If last night had been a regular season game, nobody would have any issue dropping SMU like a stone, so I guess the question is how much does the committee value it being a conference championship game. Because if it’s pure resume, SMU wouldn’t be in the top 16

Neither would Indiana but here we are

This is a very bad first run for this system because one team already deserves the title and the rest had a chance

Who knew that Boise v Oregon was the actual national championship game?

I really can't come up with 4 like years past. I mean ND might fit the equation but losing at home to N Illy is auto DQ
It’s a new era, so what I think constitutes a playoff team has to change

I'm curious who ends up at #5 more than anything
It's a real problem if the committee gives ASU #4 and a game in Glendale. But it will sell as much as it would suck.

And I consider myself a fan for the most part

If this plays out, the #5 seed probably isn't the dream spot it was a few weeks ago. Idk.

They probably aren't even allowed to watch the show today
Heading to Albertson's to buy booze...mind you when I moved here in '98 alcohol wasn't allowed until 10am on Sundays and Albertson's didn't sell alcohol on Sundays. Complete Mormon company. The almighty dollar once again won out thankfully.

SMU doesn't belong in the playoffs and no that is not me pushing for Miami who doesn't deserve it either. It might be unpopular with their bad losses but I would pick Alabama over SMU. Sorry to say it but the ACC is essentially a mid major at this point and shouldn't get two teams in.

I have a buddy that partied hard when I met him, we'd do Vegas runs and get absolutely slammed. He's now a convert and married Mormon, last I talked to him he was up for one of the top two positions for the church in Mesa. Can't make that shit up. He was with me at g7 in 2001....

So last year he hits me up and wants to meet up for g6 of the WS...hadn't seen him in years. He told me to find a bar that serves caffeine free diet coke lol....I I kinda took him serious because this was way out of my league

When we are talking about these 2 and 3 loss teams, they all have plenty of warts. But SMU doesn't really have anything else to hang it's hat on. In a normal week, the loss last night would have dropped them to the high teens, so I don't think it's clear that they are deserving over any of the other teams ranked 10-16

And before I get accused of homerism, Alabama made it's bed and will have to lay in it. I won't argue too much if we are left out. And honestly, I can make a pretty good case that Ole Miss is the team getting screwed the most. But all these media types on twitter using a close loss to a pretty mediocre Clemson as absolute proof that SMU deserves a bid is laughable

Let’s just let Vegas determine the rankings :)

What would SMU vs Alabama be? Alabama vs Miami? Miami vs SMU?

It’s the most objective process in a very subjective process.

Alabama is in a weird spot in that they could absolutely lose to any of the teams in the discussion, and probably in the top 30-35 teams. But they also can beat any of the teams too.

SMU would hang 40+ on Miami.

I was so hoping for that matchup for totals in every which way.

Cuse game was profitable but I wanted Miami to pull that out late.

What would Oklahoma be?

If it's a mid major then let's make it the power 3, better yet, no conferences.

My local high school would score 40 on Miami. Neither SMU or Miami belongs in the playoffs.

It didn't look good. Guessing an MRI is in order today and from there who knows.

Hate to see. You want everyone at full strength. At least the critical players.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think the subjectivity is a large part of what makes college football unique and interesting and great. If there were nothing but autobids, we'd all be talking about our fantasy football lineups and some of the good bball on today. But instead, we have dozens of fanbases glued to their phone/computer/TV. And outside of the fanbases involved, nobody really feels that strongly one way or the other, but we all pretend like we do. Millions will say in about an hour they won't even watch the games, but they of course will

Well said.

I haven't even gotten to the point of figuring out which bowl games are hosting the top 4. Makes the whole thing very interesting considering we could have 3/4 of them West of the Mississippi. How they slot teams could be a massive deal...Rose, Fiesta, Cotton? I seriously have put no thought into this other than hearing about ASU possibly getting a game here

Is Quinn Ewers really the best Texas QB and if he is what does that say about Arch.

No, he's not. No secret that I've never been his biggest fan. Lacks pocket presence / happy feet, very little mobility, struggles on deep balls, floats throws all too often. Ewers has regressed significantly. We'll likely see him playing collegiately next season. Just not at Texas.

Those of us in Austin cannot wait until Manning steps in. Why he didn't see more snaps yesterday, at least to run a zone read here and there, is beyond me.

I am on record as believing that Beck was holding UGA back. The backups may not be any better, but this UGA could be the undisputed best team if they had better QB play and WR that could catch

Texas has similar issues

The TE / WRs have had really good hands this season, before yesterday.

No argument on the QB.
