Good question. There have been some coaches hired in the past few years that would have made you think the change was coming, but even someone like Chip this year punted when he shouldn't have. Maybe the NFL sits the coaches down when they are hired and tells them they need to be conservative and do things as they've always been done in the NFL or they get secretly fined. Not sure of another explanation why a seemingly smart dude becomes an idiot when the decision to punt or not comes up (or go for 2, or clock mngmnt).
