Andrei Kirilenko is still just "day to day" but he's being called "doubtful" for tonight.

KIRILENKO UPDATE: Usual Jazz starting forward Andrei Kirilenko sat out Saturday with a right bicep/shoulder strain.

Kirilenko suggested Sunday he'll try to take part in this morning's shootaround, but he sounded doubtful about the possibility of playing against Portland.

"It's getting better," Kirilenko said, "but it's a little stiff still.

"Right now I'm out for a couple days," he added, "so I'll try to get recovered as much as possible as fast as possible and get back to playing."

you make the call. he sounds out tonight to me, though he may try it at the shoot-around.

Kyle Korver to debut in Utah tonight?

http://deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,695240204,00.html

lots of comments about how effective he will be.

• Jarron Collins, who called Korver a "very skilled shooter" with "very deep range": "He will be an asset to the team, but anything more than that we'll just have to wait and see."

• Andrei Kirilenko: "He's pretty much similar to Giri (Giricek). He's a great shooter, moves a lot without the ball, tries to get open position and is always a threat. ... He will get open shots in our offense, if we execute good."

• C.J. Miles, whose backup shooting guard minutes may be whittled by Korver's presence: "Him and Giri both are good players. ... They (Jazz management) felt they did something that will help the team. I don't really make those decisions, so I don't really have anything to say about it."

Jamal Crawford is hoping to play wednesday, but his hand is still hurting from too much jerking around during practice.

He actually helps the Knicks when he plays, so they could really use him back on the court.

Crawford sat out the Knicks' 100-83 loss to the Bulls with a bruised right hand. X-rays taken before the game were negative.

"It's 10 times tougher (sitting on the bench) when you want to be out there so bad," Crawford said. "I'll try my best to get back out there Wednesday."

Tracy McGrady expects to be out for perhaps 3 weeks with a deep bone bruise.

http://feeds.chron.com/~r/houstonchronicle/spbkbkn/~3/208760873/5412360.html

"They told me three weeks," McGrady said. "I don't have a timetable. I can't do anything about it. I'm just doing therapy every day. I lost the strength in my leg. I'll see how I feel toward the end of the week, but Boston, doubtful, Orlando, doubtful."

good luck to anyone with the stones to bet them.

get this...

.........too rich....

okay:

Avery Johnson said his lineup isn't quite decided, beyond the top seven.

HAHAHAHAHAa...

no shit.

"We've had 10 guys in our rotation," Johnson said. "We're just trying to see who's going to be the strong five, then who's going to be the strong seven and the strong nine. Last night [Saturday vs. Atlanta], we had a solid nine. We're going to see if we can move forward with those nine. Or on some nights, do I play Brandon instead of Diop or Brandon instead of a smaller guy?

"That's what my job is, to figure these things out."

okay.

it's not so funny after I re-read it, but it sure was when I read it the first time....he hasn't been able to keep ANY semblance of a static line-up, and it's looking to me like he hasn't got any idea what to do on a day to day basis.

the reality is when the mavs hit their jumpshots, then they score 110 and kick the shit out of anyone. When they don't hit their jumpshots, then they score 80ish, and they lose. Seems to me you tell the guys you have to drive to the bucket more often, but then that's why he's an NBA coach and I'm an unemployed nobody.

Ben Gordon and the Bulls seem to like the new style of Gordo coming off the bench.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/basketball/bulls/719702,CST-SPT-bull31.article

"I wasn't happy [about going to the bench], but [Boylan] wanted to bring some more scoring off the bench," said Gordon. "Sometimes you need change to kind of get things stirred up and get to playing well again. I think Jim's approach is, he has guys a little bit more relaxed than before, not so uptight, and it seems like it's transferring out there onto the court."

the Magic better be ready when they visit the Bulls tonight...
