Lefties only

Here is my reasoning sir

Belt is batting .467 with six walks and six runs during a 5-1 run for San Francisco (12-11), while Pence is hitting .476 with six extra-base hits.

The two will get their first look at Steven Matz (2-1, 5.40 ERA), and the left-handed hitting Belt has an advantageous matchup despite facing a southpaw. Belt is one of the league's top left-handed hitters against lefties, going 6 for 20 with three extra-base hits, and Matz has allowed left-handed batters to go 6 for 14.

Peavy surrendered two runs in seven innings of a 4-1 loss July 8 in his lone 2015 start against the Mets.
He has regularly frustrated Curtis Granderson and David Wright, though Walker homered for his only hit in three career at-bats against the veteran right-hander.
Granderson, hitting .400 in the last eight games, is batting .167 in 24 at-bats against Peavy while Wright is 3 for 19 with eight strikeouts. Wright's .158 average versus Peavy is his sixth-worst among the 76 pitchers he's faced at least 20 times.

Why do you think the Giants with Peavy beat the Mets??

7 Lefties on the bump today

Garcia-Cards
Liriano-Pirates
Chen-Miami
Rusin-Rockies
Happ-Toronto
Holland-Texas
Miley-Seattle

Holland

Derek Holland took a no-decision for Texas in a 4-3 loss. Holland (2-1, 3.13) is 9-6 against the Angels but it comes with a 5.52 ERA. Albert Pujols is 8 for 25 with three home runs and three doubles in their matchups, but C.J. Cron (0 for 8) and Kole Calhoun (2 for 10) have struggled.

More recently, the left-hander gave up three runs and five hits in 6 1/3 innings of a 4-1 road loss to the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. After being limited to 15 starts the previous two seasons, the Rangers can't be displeased with his April. In fact, it may go down as the best of his career after going 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA in five April 2013 starts.

Liriano

that stretch came from Francisco Liriano's last start on Sunday, though the left-hander was pleased with his stuff.

Three of the four runs he gave up came off two early homers, but Liriano (1-1, 4.64 ERA) settled down to hold Arizona to four runs in six innings of an eventual 12-10, 13-inning win.

"Location-wise, everything was a lot more sharp. It was working a lot better down in the zone," Liriano told MLB's official website. "Just get ahead in the count and not try to do too much. That got better at the end."

Liriano continued to struggle with his command, walking three to give him 17 free passes through his first four starts. After tossing six innings of three-hit ball in a 4-1 opening day win over St. Louis, he has allowed 16 hits and 11 runs - nine off five homers - in 15 1/3 innings his last three outings.

While Liriano hopes he can continue to improve, Pittsburgh's lineup looks to keep rolling against the Reds, who have lost 13 of 17 since taking two of three from the Pirates April 8-10.

8 Lefties on the bump today, some of the bigger guns.... Kershaw currently -$300 Price -$155
Sale at $-123 seems like a trap

Kershaw-Dodgers
Price-Boston
Hamels-Texas
Sale-White Sox
Bumgarner-Giants
Locke-Pirates
Pomeranz-Padres
Hill-A's

I have strong leans with Locke,Sale,Hamels, & Price... I might parlay some with Kershaw

Locke

The Pirates (15-9) have averaged 7.2 runs while batting .296 with 15 homers during this 8-1 stretch. Josh Harrison is hitting .406 with 11 RBIs in his last 13 games and fellow infielder Jordy Mercer is batting .413 with eight RBIs in his past 12.
Now they'll try to give Locke plenty of support with designs on closing out their first home sweep of the Reds since April 2013. The left-hander, however, might not need a whole lot of offensive backing if he can replicate Monday's performance.
After giving up 11 runs and 16 hits over 7 2/3 innings in consecutive losses, Locke got on track by allowing five hits and striking out eight over six scoreless innings in a 6-1 victory at Colorado. Manager Clint Hurdle said it was the best he's seen Locke pitch since he threw eight shutout innings against Cleveland on July 4.
"He got in such a strong, aggressive rhythm," Hurdle told the league's official website. "Fastball command, the intent, the conviction, the execution. Used the changeup in offensive counts, sprinkled in some curveballs... Big for us, good for him."
Locke (1-2, 5.03 ERA) has a 3.14 ERA in 12 career starts versus Cincinnati. He gave up one run - a Eugenio Suarez homer - over six innings

Sale

Sale (5-0, 1.66 ERA) became the 10th White Sox pitcher to win his first five starts since 1913 by holding opposing hitters to a .159 batting average in the season's opening month. The left-hander has surrendered just eight hits and one earned run in 24 innings over his last three outings, and he leads the majors with a 0.68 WHIP.
Baltimore (14-9) has already beaten up on two White Sox lefties with a 10-2 rout versus John Danks in Thursday's opener and Friday's 6-3 win over Carlos Rodon, but a repeat performance against Sale seems far-fetched.
He can become the first White Sox pitcher to win his opening six starts since Jon Garland was victorious in his first eight of 2005. Six of the 10 Chicago pitchers to open 5-0 won their sixth start.
Sale's success seems a bit different than in past seasons when he powered past opposing lineups - a prime example his 12-strikeout four-hitter in 7 2/3 innings of a 3-2 win in Baltimore last May. He set a Chicago record with 274 strikeouts in 2015, but drawing more early has allowed him to pitch at least seven innings

Hamels

Hamels (3-0, 2.52 ERA) didn't pitch in Monday's 3-1 home loss to the New York Yankees because of a strained left groin, and the starting staff has a 1.67 ERA in the four games since.
The Rangers have won Hamels' last 14 starts, and the streak might get a little more attention if it weren't for Jake Arrieta's 16-start run for the Chicago Cubs.
The Texas ace has gone 10-0 with a 3.03 ERA on the streak, including limiting Houston to a run and five hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 2-1 home win April 20. It's the longest winning streak of his career, and the only time Texas has won more consecutive starts by one pitcher was 15 straight by Hall of Famer Ferguson Jenkins from 1978-79.
"It's big to have it for the team," Hamels told MLB's official website. "If it shows up on my record, fine, but we have had some really good wins lately, and that's something to build on. Ultimately, I'm winning games for the team."
Two of the last five starts have come against the Angels with Hamels limiting them to a run and four hits over six innings in a 4-1 win in Los Angeles on April 9. He also tossed a three-hitter against them in a 9-2 victory Oct. 4 to close out 2015.

Price

Price (3-0, 5.76 ERA) doesn't have the ERA to match his record, but the victories have been legit with a 2.57 mark, .218 opponent batting average, and 33 strikeouts in 21 innings. Breaking those wins up, however, are two no-decisions in Boston losses amounting to a 13.50 ERA and .333 OBA.
The latest was on the good side with the left-hander turning in his best start of April with two runs and six hits allowed and 14 strikeouts in eight innings of Tuesday's 11-4 win in Atlanta.

"I want to get 27 outs every five days," said Price, who now needs to level out at home, where he's gone 1-0 with an 8.62 ERA in three starts. "Twenty-four is good."
The AL East veteran has seen plenty of the Yankees, and after giving up a combined 16 runs in 4 1/3 innings of his last 2014 and first '15 start against them, he's gone 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA in his last four. Brian McCann is 10 for 29 (.345) with three home runs, but Price has held Mark Teixeira to 13 for 64 (.203) and Alex Rodriguez

Only 3 Lefties on the bump today

Finnegan-Reds
Gonzalez-Nats
Keuchel-Astros

Finnegan

Brandon Finnegan, acquired from Kansas City in the Cueto deal, will head to the mound to open a 10-game homestand. The left-hander didn't make it past the fourth inning in his most recent start at Great American Ball Park, a 16-0 loss to the Cubs that featured Jake Arrieta's no-hitter, but had a more respectable showing Tuesday against the Mets.
Finnegan (1-1, 3.86) pitched six scoreless innings before giving up Yoenis Cespedes' tying three-run homer in a 4-3 defeat. He will make his first start against San Francisco and his first appearance versus the Giants since facing them

Gonzalez

Nats staff combined to allow 2 runs the last two games against the Cardinals, and Gonzalez is one of a few good options to continue the impressive pitching. Gonzalez (1-1, 1.42 ERA) gave up two runs - one earned - and five hits in 6 1/3 innings of a 3-0 home loss to the Phillies on Wednesday and has allowed four total earned runs over his four starts with a .196 opponent batting average.
The left-hander has only faced the Royals once since 2011 but is 3-3 with a 7.49 ERA in eight career starts against them. Salvador Perez (5 for 6) and Eric Hosmer (4 for 6 with two home runs and three walks) have hit him best.
The Washington-Montreal franchise is 9-3 against the Royals and has won two of three in both of its past visits to Kansas City.

Keuchel

After two trying road outings, the reigning Cy Young winner takes on the Minnesota Twins on Monday night with the Houston Astros needing a win to notch consecutive victories for the first time this season and avoid joining the Twins in the cellar.
Keuchel (2-3, 4.41 ERA) has won a franchise-record 17 straight regular-season decisions at home with a 1.47 ERA over 22 starts with the team going 20-2. He hasn't lost in Houston since Aug. 10, 2014, but even Minute Maid Park might not have saved him from his recent effortsKeuchel told MLB's official website. "It seems like I made a few pitches, a bloop single. When it's not going right, it's not going right. The tough thing about it is nobody's going to feel sorry for you."Keuchel is 2-1 with a 2.30 ERA in three career starts against the Twins. Miguel Sano is 0 for 4 with four strikeouts and Kurt Suzuki is 1 for 9.

ERA is not a very good evaluator for pitchers if you are actually using that for your handicapping. Way too much noise in that number.

7 Lefties on the bump today

Niese-Pirates
Perez-Texas
Quintana-White Sox
Kazmir-Dodgers
Moore-Tampa Bay
Corbin-DBacks
Nicolino-Marlins

Quintana

struck out 10 in six innings in Wednesday's 4-0 win at Toronto. He is 2-0 with a 2.14 ERA in five starts versus the Red Sox, limiting Ortiz to two hits in 12 at-bats.

Ortiz may sit as well as lefty-swinging Travis Shaw, who is 2 for 17 against southpaws and 0 for 3 versus Quintana. Boston has an AL-worst .204 average versus lefties.

White Sox slugger Jose Abreu is 11 for 26 during a six-game hit streak.

Chicago (18-8) may welcome back Avisail Garcia, who sat out the last two games with a strained right hamstring after going 8 for 18 in his previous five.

The White Sox took four of seven from the Red Sox last year.

Niese

While Arrieta has allowed four runs or more four times in 33 starts, Niese (3-0, 5.08) has done so in four of five this season. His teammates have masked it with a 8.89 run support average.

A 4.76 ERA in 10 starts against the Cubs has resulted in a more realistic 3-6 record. Jason Heyward is 9 for 28 with two home runs against Niese but is day to day with an injured wrist, while Anthony Rizzo is 2 for 17.

Arrieta still hasn't given up four runs or more in 25 regular-season outings since June 16, going 21-1 with a 0.89 ERA. In 13 of those he hasn't allowed a run. The only pitcher in data available to 1913 to go 26 starts without giving up four runs once overlapped with Gibson in that pitcher-dominant era. It was the less-lauded Chris Short, who was 10-11 with a 2.13 ERA in 26 straight in '67-68.

The last time Arrieta saw the Pirates, his five-hit, 11-strikeout shutout pushed the Cubs through to the NLDS in a 4-0 wild-card win. He's 7-1 with a 1.46 ERA in 10 career starts against Pittsburgh.

Arrieta (5-0, 1.00 ERA) is 16-0 with a 0.69 ERA in 18 regular-season starts since last losing on July 25.

The latest bumped his winning streak to eight starts for the second time in those 18. The last Cubs pitcher to go beyond that was Milt Pappas' 11-start winning streak in 1972, and Arrieta is the first to win his first five starts of a season since Greg Maddux in 2006.

The team's 18-game winning streak in his starts is tops in baseball since Atlanta won 23 straight Kris Medlen starts from 2010

Perez

Perez (1-2, 4.20) comes off his fourth quality start in five outings, limiting the New York Yankees to two runs through six innings in a 3-2 victory Wednesday. The Rangers had lost each of the first four games started by the left-hander.

'He made pitches when he needed to,' catcher Bryan Holaday said. 'He was able to use that sinker down and away. ... When we pitched off that, we were able to use his secondary stuff and get some swings and misses.'

Perez made his first start against the Blue Jays in Game 3 of the ALDS opposite Estrada, allowing four runs over five-plus innings to take the loss.

Josh Donaldson is 7 for 16 with a homer and four doubles against Perez, while Justin Smoak is 4 for 11 with a pair of doubles.

Kazmir vs Moore

one of the defeats at Chavez Ravine, allowing two runs in six innings Wednesday in a 2-0 loss to Miami. The Dodgers lost his fourth straight start after he posted a 9.69 ERA in the previous three.

The left-hander, who pitched for Tampa Bay from 2004-09, is 1-4 with a 5.13 ERA in five starts versus the Rays. He went 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA in two last year, with Evan Longoria going 3 for 5 with a homer against him in those games and Brandon Guyer 3 for 6.

The Rays (11-13) are 5-2 against left-handed starters.

Kazmir joins left fielder Carl Crawford and reliever J.P. Howell as former Rays on the Dodgers. Crawford returned to Tropicana Field in 2011 with Boston and hasn't been back since, while Howell has yet to return since his departure after 2012.

Tampa Bay will start Matt Moore (1-2, 5.66), who has never faced the Dodgers. The left-hander has faced three of their hitters in Gonzalez (1 for 7 against him), Howie Kendrick (2 for 9) and Crawford (1 for 1).

Moore dropped his second straight start Wednesday by surrendering three runs in seven innings of Wednesday's 3-1 loss to Baltimore.

9 Lefties on the bump today

Lester-Cubs

Sabathia-Yankees
Rodon-White Sox
Santiago-Angels
Wood-Dodgers
Smyly-Tampa Bay

Lester

has opened with five straight quality starts for the first time in his stellar career. He's allowed one run in four of those outings, including each of the last three.
Those three runs all came on homers, most recently Friday over seven innings while receiving a no-decision in the 6-1 victory over Atlanta.
The left-hander went 2-1 with a 1.57 ERA against the Pirates last season. It was highlighted Sept. 15, when he allowed a run, five hits and struck out nine for a complete-game 2-1 victory at PNC Park.
Andrew McCutchen is 1 for 13 against Lester and 2 for 19 with six strikeouts in the last five games.

Matz

he attempts to win a fourth consecutive start Wednesday when the Mets look to avoid their first back-to-back losses in 20 games in the last of a three-game home series against the MLB-worst Atlanta Braves.
Matz (3-1, 3.86 ERA) had to overcome the worst performance of his first 13 big league outings, including three postseason appearances, after surrendering seven runs over a career-low 1 2/3 innings in a 10-3 home loss to Miami on April 11
Matz has certainly done that, giving up two runs over 6 1/3 innings in an 8-2 win at Atlanta on April 23 before scattering seven hits over six scoreless in Friday's 13-1 home win over San Francisco. He's been solid in two career starts - both on the road - against the Braves (7-19), giving up three runs over 11 1/3 innings in a pair of victories.
Daniel Castro has had success in the matchup with four hits - including a home run - in six at-bats. Freddie Freeman is 3 for 5 with a double versus Matz.

Santiago

Los Angeles (12-15) previously closed a 4-2 homestand with three straight wins but will try to avoid its 10th loss in 13 road games since opening 3-0 away from home.
Hector Santiago will be called upon to stop the bleeding while looking to bounce back from his first loss.

Santiago (2-1, 3.34 ERA) was solid through five innings of Friday's 4-2 loss at Texas before allowing three runs while logging just two outs in the sixth. It was his first time failing to get through six.
The left-hander has never faced the Brewers, though he has seen Carter quite a bit. Milwaukee's first baseman, who previously played for Oakland and Houston, has five hits in 14 at-bats in the matchup, hitting two home runs and a double while striking out six times. Domingo Santana has also homered off Santiago in four at-bats, striking out the other three.
Zach Davies (0-3, 8.78) is off to a terrible start in his second big league season, surrendering 13 runs in 13 1/3 innings while opponents

Thanks for the input guys I've decided to just see what happens maybe I'll get one of them to win.

My only play tonight will be

Yankees/Orioles over 8.5 -$120 $480/$400

Im just throughly disgusted.... Texas blows a lead again, lose that series bet... Yankees score 7 in a game I bet over 8 and lose that one.... Twinkees getting blown out....

So a 5-0-1 afternoon turns into SHIT and 0-3 night.... Only small ray of hope is Red Sox are winning to keep me alive in my series bet

8 Lefties on the bump today

Garcia-Cards
Ray-DBacks
Conley-Miami
Rusin-Rockies
Holland-Texas
Happ-Toronto
Miley-Seattle
Owens-Boston

Garcia

16 runs and 22 hits over 14 innings while dropping his last three meetings with the Phillies (16-12). He hasn't been sharp over his last two outings overall, giving up eight runs and 12 hits over 11 1/3 innings.

"I have to make better pitches in tough situations," Garcia said.

Conley

1-1 3.67 ERA wasn't exactly masterful Friday, though he was difficult to square up while tossing 7 2/3 innings of no-hit ball in a 6-3 win at Milwaukee.
He will try to be focused on efficiency as he tries to deal Arizona (12-17) its first six-game losing streak since July 10-19. He's never faced the Diamondbacks, though Jean Segura has gone 4 for 6 off him dating to his time with Milwaukee.

Ray

Since going 1-0 with a 1.96 ERA in his first three starts, Robbie Ray is 0-1 with a 12.86 mark over his past two. The left-hander allowed five runs and seven hits - including four home runs - over four innings in Friday's 9-0 home loss to Colorado.
Ray (1-1, 4.97) also was knocked around in his only meeting with the Marlins in July. He surrendered five runs - four earned - over 4 2/3 innings in a 5-3 home defeat.

Holland vs Happ

Holland 3-1, 2.48 ERA pitched the home opener for Texas (15-13) last year and lasted one inning before a shoulder injury sidelined him until August.
Once he returned, things were inconsistent with a 4-3 mark and 4.84 ERA over a nine-start stretch that featured some outstanding work, including a three-hit shutout against Baltimore on Aug. 30 and three other quality outings.
And change it has after Holland put in his third quality outing in five starts with six scoreless innings in a 7-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. He allowed four hits, no walks and kept the ball in the yard for the third time this season.
Opposing teams are batting just .206 against him.
He is 3-2 with a 5.44 ERA in seven career starts against the Blue Jays, but his numbers improve greatly when you look at his four most recent outings in the series. Beginning with a four-hit shutout at Toronto on July 30, 2011, Holland has gone 2-1 with a 3.18 ERA in those four starts with a .241 opponent batting average.
Jose Bautista (4 for 20 with six Ks) has struggled against Holland, but Josh Donaldson (6 for 20) and Edwin Encarnacion (5 for 15) have had some success with each hitting two homers.

The Blue Jays (14-15) are also getting their share of quality starts and are just behind the Rangers with 19 - five of them coming from left-hander J.A. Happ (3-0, 2.76), which ties a large group for the major league lead.
Happ worked 6 2/3 innings against Tampa Bay on Saturday and was an out away from getting out of the seventh with a 3-2 lead before Logan Forsythe homered to tie a game the Rays went on to win with a walkoff single.
Since a four-start losing streak last June, Happ has gone 11-3 with a 3.20 ERA over his previous 21 outings.
He is 2-1 with a 1.83 ERA in his previous three starts against the Rangers, who battered him for seven runs - five earned - in just 2 2/3 innings in his first career outing against them in May 2011. Prince Fielder (9 for 25 with four doubles) has the most experience against Happ among Texas batters.
After Russell Martin singled home the winning run in the ninth of Wednesday's 4-3 victory, the Blue Jays are in position to win a fourth straight home series against Texas. The Rangers are now 5-8 on the road and have lost six of their past seven away from home.
