Lefties only

My results are in from Saturday, Cole Hamels did his job by winning 4-1 thus putting $630 in my pocket. Sad to say the Tigers lost -$420. The Orioles got postponed.
One parlay lost, -$200 My other parlay paid me $209.93.

So here is the breakdown + $630 + $209.93 = + $839.93
- $420 -$200 = -$620

+ 219.93
+ 2,031

+ $2,250.93

I have 3 plays today along with 2 parlays.

Play 1:
I am going against Smyly even though his stats are good against O's. Orioles + $128 $200/$256
Smyly struggled Monday against Toronto, giving up five runs, including four on three homers. He has held many of Baltimore's biggest bats in check, however, with Jones, Davis, Hardy, and Machado going a combined 7 for 52 against the left-hander.Smyly is 4-0 with a 1.82 ERA in eight games - five starts - versus the Orioles.

Play 2: Yet again I'm playing against the Lefty in this case CC. Tigers - $105 $420/$400
Sabathia's first test comes against a predominantly right-handed Detroit lineup. Miguel Cabrera went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs on Friday, while Nick Castellanos had four of the Tigers' 13 hits.Cabrera has batted .297 against Sabathia with three home runs and 14 RBIs in 37 at-bats. Jose Iglesias (.462), J.D. Martinez (.333) and Jarrod Saltalamacchia (.333) all have had success against Sabathia.
Right-handed hitters batted .312 against him the last two seasons. Twenty five of his career high-tying 28 home runs allowed last season came from right-handed batters. The Tigers (3-0) tagged Miami left-hander Wei-Yin Chen for five runs in five innings in the season opener and have scored 19 runs on 38 hits through three games.
I felt before he checked into Rehab he was done, I don't see him lasting more than 4 innings.

Play 3: I am going with the Lefty Cole Hamels + $105 $600/$630
Cole started the season strong,
Hamels (1-0, 2.57 ERA) improved to 8-0 in his last 10 regular-season starts with a 3-2 victory against Seattle on Monday. He gave up a solo homer in each of the first two innings before allowing just two hits over the next five.

Parlay 1:
Texas/Detroit $200/$600.47

Parlay 2:
Texas/Orioles $200/$734.80

Here are my plays today, bankroll stands at + $2,250.93

Play 1: I am going with the Lefty, Jeff Locke Pirates - $125 $500/$400

Locke will feature a new-look windup. He made some tweaks after posting a 4.49 ERA and 1.42 WHIP while finishing 8-11 in 30 2015 starts.
"It's a challenge, but it's stuff that goes on a lot behind the scenes," Locke said after a March 7 spring training start. "Just trying to be as comfortable as possible, but yet giving us the best chance to win, best chance to throw strikes and best chance to put guys away."
Jay Bruce and Brandon Phillips have each struggled to .217 batting averages in their careers against Locke, but Joey Votto (.333) and Billy Hamilton (.429) have seen success in the matchup.

Play 2: I'm going against the Lefty, Martin Perez. Angels -$115 $345/$300

Perez is 1-1 with a 2.36 ERA in four starts against the Angels. However, that one defeat came while he's gone 0-6 with a 5.25 ERA in nine road starts since winning at Oakland on April 23, 2014.
The left-hander gave up two runs, two hits, walked four and hit a batter over six innings while not factoring in the decision of a 10-2 home loss to Seattle on Tuesday.
Trout and Pujols were a combined 2 for 9 against Perez in 2015.

Parlay 1:

Astros/Angels $200/393.86

Parlay 2:

Astros/Pirates $200/371.64

Parlay 3:

Pirates/Angels $200/$473.04

We have 6 Lefties on the bump today

Matz-Mets currently - $155
Price-Boston currently - $190
Niese-Pirates currently + $104
Quintana-WSox currently + $103
Lester-Cubs currently - $250
Finnegan-Reds currently + $229

At first glance Price & Lester seem a bit overpriced. Matz is good but Mets have many question marks offensively. Niese, who surrendered five runs and five hits over five innings in Tuesday's 6-5 11-inning win over St. Louis.Niese has faced the Tigers just once in his career, a 14-6 loss opposite Verlander on June 22, 2010. Pitching for the New York Mets, Niese gave up six runs in 4 2-3 innings. He is 5-7 with a 4.83 ERA in 18 career interleague starts and is winless in eight games versus the AL since April 12, 2013.
The Tigers haven't seen much of Niese, but Justin Upton, who is 4 for 19 with three doubles on the season, has hit .346 in 26 at-bats against him.
Pittsburgh was 8-2 on the road against the AL last season, including a three-game sweep at Comerica.
Quintana has a 3.10 ERA in 44 career starts on five days' rest, which he'll get after Chicago's series finale with Cleveland on Sunday was postponed.

- $314.07

Play 1: Going against the Lefty, Dodgers - $160 $640/$400

Dodgers 3 homers are among the fewest in the majors to start the young season, but that's exactly how many Patrick Corbin allowed in his first start Wednesday.
Each of the four runs he allowed over seven innings of a 4-3 home loss to Colorado came via the long ball in another otherwise decent outing. Corbin struck out six and didn't issue a walk.
The left-hander has allowed only four homers in 44 innings against the Dodgers in his career, but he has an 8.76 ERA while losing his last three starts against them.

Play 2: Going with the Lefty, Padres + $100 $300/$300
Erlin was called up in mid-September and went 1-2 with a 4.76 ERA in three starts. He's 9-10 with a 4.48 ERA in 28 appearances - 23 starts - since making his major league debut with San Diego in 2013.Two of those starts came against Philadelphia - both at home - with Erlin going 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA and striking out 11 with one walk

Play 3: going with runs in this game over 7 Indians/Rays - $110 $440/$400

The Indians have outscored the Rays 52-23 in winning seven of the past eight road meetings. Kluber struck out 14 on his last visit to Tropicana, a 5-4, 10-inning victory July 2.
Matt Moore allowed four runs over 4 2-3 innings in that contest after he had gone 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA over his previous three versus Cleveland. The left-hander seeks his first victory after giving up three runs over five in Wednesday's 5-3 home win over Toronto.
Jose Ramirez is off to a 5 for 13 start for the Indians, while Mike Napoli has homered in two of his last three. Jason Kipnis is 8 for 19 with a homer

Yet again another unhappy recap.. I'm seeing things just not get any wins...
The Mets series bet put a big dent in my bankroll (-$1,330)
I still have the White Sox series bet pending.

Yesterday - $2,770 I was - $314.07
My bankroll stands at - $3,084.07

Surkamp-A's

Eric Surkamp gets a second crack at filling Doubront's spot after an effective spot start in Friday's 3-2 win at Seattle. The journeyman left-hander, signed to a minor league contract in December, held the Mariners scoreless through four innings before permitting two runs in the fifth.
The start was Surkamp's first in the majors since July 23, 2013, with San Francisco. He made 35 relief appearances with the White Sox in 2014 and one with the Dodgers last season.
spacer.gif

Conley-Miami

Miami sends Adam Conley to the mound in place of Wei-Yin Chen, who was pushed back to Friday against Atlanta due to a bruised left elbow suffered on a comebacker in the season opener.
Conley's season debut only lasted one inning due to a long rain delay. The left-hander gave up three runs with two strikeouts and two walks in Thursday's 6-4 win at Washington in the shortest of his 12 career starts.
Conley has allowed one run in 9 1-3 innings over two appearances against the Mets. He yielded three hits in seven innings of a 6-0 win in his only start against them Sept. 16 at Citi Field.

Wood-Dodgers

Goldschmidt is 4 for 9 with two homers and a pair of walks against Alex Wood, who is looking to overcome a rough finish to his first start.
Wood allowed five runs in five-plus innings of Thursday's 12-6 loss to San Francisco after giving up three hits in his first four innings. The three runs he allowed in the fifth snapped the Dodgers' 31-inning scoreless streak to begin the season, one shy of tying St. Louis' record set in 1963.
'We were moving right along,' Wood said. 'It didn't change my mindset. It's fine and dandy that I'm part of the streak, but we lost. That's all that really matters.'
The left-hander was much better the last time he faced the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs and three hits in 6 1-3 innings of an 8-0 loss Sept 22

Happ-Toronto

Happ is 3-2 with a 4.85 ERA in nine starts against New York. The left-hander gave up two runs over six-plus innings before Tampa Bay scored three times in the eighth to pull out a 5-3 win last Wednesday

Smyly-Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay's Drew Smyly also gave up three homers in his 2016 debut, allowing five runs over 6 2-3 innings of a 5-3 defeat to Toronto on April 4. The southpaw was extremely disappointed that two of those home runs came against left-handed hitters.
"I'm not going to make excuses," he said. "I take pride in getting those guys out. I'm usually pretty effective against them."
Smyly yielded a homer to Yan Gomes while going 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA in three starts against the Indians (2-3). All came with Detroit and none since July 20, 2014.
"It'll be a tough test," he said. "Just looking forward to going out there and giving the team a 'W.'"
Gomes is 4 for 8 with two homers and a double against him.
Francisco Lindor, who has never faced Smyly, is batting .368

Rodon-White Sox

Minnesota will try to do so against Rodon, who was outpitched in his season debut by Oakland's Sonny Gray in a 2-1 road defeat last Wednesday. The left-hander surrendered two runs and struck out six over seven innings.
Rodon has allowed two runs over nine innings in two career games against the Twins. His success usually depends on whether he's able to establish his slider

5 Lefties on the bump today

Hamels-Texas
Ray-DBacks
De La Rosa-Rockies
Pomeranz-Padres
Garcia-Cards

Garcia
The left-hander takes the mound after giving up four runs with six strikeouts in six innings while not getting a decision in a 7-4 win at Atlanta in his season debut Friday.
Garcia will now try to re-establish his success at home, where he went 5-2 with a 1.70 ERA in 10 starts last season. However, his last appearance there ended in a 6-3 loss to Chicago in Game 2 of the NL division series Oct. 10, allowing five unearned runs in two innings.
Garcia, though, is 4-3 with a 1.88 ERA in nine career home starts against Milwaukee. He split two last year, allowing 2 runs in 15 innings

Pomeranz
Drew Pomeranz takes the mound after winning his Padres' debut Saturday. The left-hander, who came over in a five-player trade with Oakland in December, gave up two runs, four hits and three walks in five innings but struck out seven and was the beneficiary of 10 runs during San Diego's 16-3 rout of Colorado.
"Everything was working pretty good," Pomeranz said.
He is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in three starts against the Phillies, but last faced them in 2014.
Carlos Ruiz is 2 for 3 with a double against Pomeranz and Franco has a hit in two at-bats.

Ray-DBacks
Gonzalez is 0 or 8 against Robbie Ray, who went 2-2 with a 2.28 ERA against the Dodgers last year. He earned both victories while yielding five hits over 11 scoreless innings in the last two outings over a 12-day span in September.
The left-hander issued four walks and hit a batter Friday against the Chicago Cubs, but yielded only two runs in six innings while taking a no-decision in the 3-2 victory.
"Early (on), I was getting a lot of early outs and it was just that (third) inning where I just kind of lost a little bit of my focus and had those walks," Ray said.
Teammate Jean Segura had two more hits Wednesday, and is batting .412 through nine games. He's 8 for 19 in his last 5 games at Dodgers stadium

Hamels-Texas
Hamels (2-0, 2.08 ERA), who's 9-0 with a 2.96 ERA in 11 regular-season starts dating back to Aug. 23. The Rangers have won the accomplished left-hander's last 12 non-playoff assignments.
Hamels has been sharp in each of his two outings this season. He yielded four hits through seven innings in a 3-2 victory over Seattle in the April 4 season opener, then held the Los Angeles Angels to a run and four hits in six innings in Saturday's 4-1 win.
The three-time All-Star was even better in a 4-1 victory over Baltimore in Arlington on Aug. 28, permitting a run and two hits with 10 strikeouts over eight innings.

Locke-Pirates

Sale-White Sox
Perez-Texas
Milone-Twins
Keuchel-Astros
Hill-A's

Kershaw-Dodgers vs Bumgarner-Giants

Locke:

Pittsburgh hopes to provide some run support for Jeff Locke after doing little to help him in a 2-1 loss at Cincinnati on Sunday. The left-hander ended up with a no-decision in his season debut after surrendering one run over six innings.

He owns a 2.98 ERA in his last eight starts against Milwaukee after allowing one run and three hits with seven strikeouts over 6 1-3 innings of a 10-2 win Sept. 12.

Sale:

Sale (2-0, 3.86 ERA) has allowed three runs in seven innings in both of his starts, and he came away with the decision in Saturday's 7-3 home victory over Cleveland after the lineup posted a five-run seventh.

"What a roller-coaster of emotions there," Sale said after giving away a 2-0 lead. "Just shows the attitude, the difference, whatever it is, we've got it."

The left-hander has lost his last three starts versus the Rays and is 2-4 with a 4.66 ERA in six career starts, yet Evan Longoria (1 for 14 with seven strikeouts) and Desmond Jennings (1 for 10) both have struggled.

Twins/Angels going against Milone:

Richards has fared well versus Minnesota, going 2-1 with a 2.63 ERA with 17 strikeouts over three career starts. Miguel Sano, Danny Santana, Eddie Rosario and Brian Dozier are a combined 3 for 24 (.125) in this matchup.

Today I'm riding with these 3 lefties, Niese,Price,Danks

Niese-Pirates

Jonathon Niese (1-0, 5.73) to the mound after he gave up four runs in six innings to get credit for Monday's 7-4 victory at Detroit.
The left-hander is 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA in eight starts versus the Brewers. Braun is 5 for 16 against him while Aaron Hill is 2 for 11 with a homer.
Marte went 3 for 5 on Friday and is hitting .421 in his last nine games. Pirates newcomer John Jaso has reached base in all of his 10 games

Price-Boston

Price (1-0, 5.73 ERA) didn't get the chance to face his former club last weekend when Boston (5-4) took two of three at Toronto, but can help his new team build on Friday's 5-3 series-opening win.
Traded to the Blue Jays (5-6) from Detroit at the deadline, Price went 9-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 11 regular-season starts to lead Toronto to its first division title since 1993. He wasn't nearly as effective while going 1-2 with a 6.17 ERA in four appearances and three starts in the postseason.

Danks-WhiteSox

Danks will have had seven days between starts after a 7-1 loss to Cleveland on April 8 and likely needed all of them to recover from giving up seven runs in five innings. "I've been excited about this start for a couple weeks now. I definitely pictured it going a lot different in my head, but it's baseball," he said. "Got to get ready for the next one."
Danks (0-1, 9.00 ERA) will seek to extend the White Sox's best start since they were 9-2 in 1982, and get them a step closer to matching their 11-2 mark from 1957. He's 1-5 with a 5.93 ERA in his last seven starts against Tampa Bay, however, and gave up five runs in 5 1-3 innings in his only matchup last season, a 7-5 defeat at Tropicana Field.
He might catch a break this time with the Rays owning a .196 batting average and a .567 OPS. They have scored one run over their last three games and totaled 17 hits in their past four.

8 Lefties on the bump

Matz-Mets
Holland-Texas
Quintana-White Sox
Erlin-Padres
Corbin-DBacks
Lester-Cubs
Gonzalez-Nats
Moore-Tampa

I'm using Gonzalez and Holland for sure maybe Lester in some parlays

Gonzalez-Nats

Bat starters have yielded three runs in 35 1-3 innings over the last five wins, limiting opposing hitters to a .154 average. That stretch began with Gio Gonzalez's six scoreless innings Tuesday against Atlanta, though the left-hander didn't receive a decision in the 2-1 victory.

Gonzalez (0-0, 0.00 ERA) allowed three hits and a walk in his first outing since a March 27 spring game.

'He was very sharp," Baker said. "You wouldn't know that he had missed two weeks.'

Gonzalez also was on point last September at Citizens Bank Park, striking out a season-high 12 over seven innings of a 12-2 win. The two-time All-Star was 2-1 with a 2.92 ERA in four 2015 starts against the Phillies and is 6-0 with a 1.49 ERA in his last 11 matchups with NL East teams.

He'll face an anemic Philadelphia offense that's hitting .166 over the last five games and has yet to record 10 hits in any of the first 12, matching a dubious franchise record to begin a season set in 1967.

Holland-Texas

Holland is 5-2 with a 2.93 ERA in seven starts against the Orioles, tossing a three-hitter with a career high-tying 11 strikeouts in a 6-0 win Aug. 30.

Trumbo is batting .311 with five homers and three doubles in 45 at-bats against Holland. Davis, meanwhile, is 1 for 11 with eight strikeouts in this matchup.
