Tonight we have 6 Lefties on the bump

Hamels-Texas
Hill-A's
Pomeranz-Padres
Bumgarner-Giants
Liriano-Pirates
Chen-Miami

Hamels

Texas opens this series by turning to Hamels, who is coming off the shortest of his 19 starts since coming over from Philadelphia at last season's trade deadline. Hamels (3-0, 3.30) allowed four runs in five innings of Texas' 9-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.

He also walked four and has issued at least three in four of his five starts.

Bumgarner

Bumgarner (3-2, 3.03 ERA) was 3-1 with a 3.03 mark through six starts last season after seeing his ERA go as high as 5.40 in April, which is what it was after one start this year. After giving up six hits in six scoreless innings of a 6-1 win at the New York Mets on Saturday, the left-hander has won consecutive starts and given up two runs and 12 hits in 12 2/3 innings with 16 strikeouts.

He said he's nearing midseason form.

"It didn't feel like I was 100 percent where I'd like to be, but it was really close," Bumgarner said.

Bumgarner has won his last three starts against the Rockies with a 2.38 ERA, as well as 6-1 with a 2.14 mark in 10 career starts against them at AT&T Park.

8 Lefties on the bump today, quite a few of the big names..

Keuchel-Astros
Sale-White Sox
Kershaw-Dodgers
Price-Red Sox
Locke-Pirates
Hill-A's
Finnegan-Reds
Gonzalez-Nats

Keuchel

Keuchel 2-4 5.11 ERA had won 17 in a row at Minute Maid Park before allowing five runs, seven hits and five walks over a season-low 4 1/3 innings in a 6-2 loss to Minnesota on Monday. He had a 1.47 ERA over his previous 22 regular-season home starts.
The performance, however, wasn't merely an aberration. Keuchel has posted an 8.82 ERA while allowing 26 hits over his first three-game losing streak since August 2012.
He's given up two runs over 15 innings in winning his last two home starts versus Seattle (17-12), but allowed five over six in a 11-1 road loss April 26. Ketel Marte went 2 for 3 with a double off him in that contest and Chris Iannetta added a double.

Sale

Sale 6-0, 1.66 ERA is coming off the shortest of his six outings after allowing one run but walking four in 5 1/3 innings of Sunday's 7-1 win at Baltimore. He threw 112 pitches after going at least seven innings in each start.
success, the Twins have ate him up. Sale is 0-4 with an 8.67 ERA and a .457 average against on balls in play in his last five outings against them.
Brian Dozier has gone deep three times against Sale, but he didn't start Friday because of a sore hamstring and his status is unclear.

Price

Price will try to to settle his shaky start with a rare positive performance against New York.
Price (4-0, 6.14 ERA) was hit hard by the Yankees earlier this week, adding to his inconsistent start in a Red Sox uniform. He surrendered eight hits and six runs in seven innings but still earned the win in Boston's 8-7 Sunday victory.
The left-hander has given up at least five runs in half of his six starts, and he holds a 4.17 ERA in 32 career appearances against the Yankees. That number balloons to 6.45 in the last seven meetings.

5 Lefties on the bump today

Lamb-Reds
Corbin-DBacks
Perez-Texas
Quintana-White Sox
Nicolino-Marlins

Perez

Martin Perez (1-2, 3.60) hopes for another power surge from his teammates as he tries to halt a road winless streak of over two years. The left-hander is 0-8 with a 4.98 ERA in 12 away starts since tossing a three-hit shutout at Oakland on April 23, 2014, a month prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery.
Perez was in line to end the drought after exiting Tuesday's outing in Toronto with a 1-0 lead after five innings, but the Blue Jays rallied for a 3-1 victory in 10. The 25-year-old earned his lone 2016 win in his previous start by limiting the Yankees to two runs through six innings on April 27.
He hasn't fared well against Detroit, going 0-2 with a 9.53 in three starts and allowing three runs in five innings of a 4-0 loss at Comerica Park on Aug. 20.
Perez will have to contend with a red-hot Nick Castellanos, who's 16 for 32 with 14 RBIs over a nine-game stretch and drove in two runs Saturday. Miguel Cabrera ended 4 for 5 and is hitting .388 over his last 12.
The Tigers are 5-8 at Comerica Park and have lost five straight and seven of eight at home to Texas.

Quintana

4-1 1.40ERA will try to lift the White Sox to their fourth sweep already this season.

The left-hander's scoreless-innings streak was snapped at 20 by Hanley Ramirez's home run in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Boston, though he continued to roll with his 10th quality start in 11 outings. That was Quintana's first homer surrendered since Sept. 30, though it was one of just four hits the Red Sox mustered against him in eight innings.

Astros series hurt the bottom line last week. My team total wagers were successful for me last week. This week my goal is to get to even par or better.

5 Lefties on the bump today

Matz-Mets
Kazmir-Dodgers
Lester-Cubs
Niese-Pirates
Moore-Tampa Bay

Matz-Kazmir

Steven Matz appears ready for the grind. Matz (4-1, 2.83 ERA) has a 0.67 ERA while winning his last four starts, a stretch that followed him giving up seven runs in his first outing April 11. He's tossed 13 2/3 scoreless innings over his last two and pitched into the eighth Wednesday for his longest start of the season to beat Atlanta 8-0.
"What he did (Wednesday) is how I think you pitch," Collins said after Matz allowed only two hits. "You get the ball, get on the mound, throw it. It keeps you in a better rhythm. You're not thinking about anything but throwing strikes."
The left-hander held the Dodgers (16-15) scoreless through six innings in July, but he gave up three runs in five innings of a 3-1 loss in Game 4 of the NLDS.
Scott Kazmir (2-2, 5.68) was pitching in the playoffs for Houston at that time before joining the Dodgers this offseason. His struggles continued Tuesday as he gave up four runs in 6 2/3 innings of a 10-5 win at Tampa Bay. Run support bailed him out after he gave up two more homers, bringing his total to seven in 31 2/3 innings.
Kazmir has allowed at least four in four of his six outings

Niese

He has been a disappointment on the mound for more than that week, a trend which he'll try to start reversing Monday night as the Pirates begin a three-game series in Cincinnati.
The Pirates (17-14) are 2-5 to start May with a 4.95 ERA out of the starting staff. Niese (3-1, 5.94 ERA) gave up six runs and nine hits with five walks in five innings of Tuesday's 7-1 home loss to the Chicago Cubs.
Over his last three starts, he's 1-1 with an 8.80 ERA and .414 opponent batting average with nine walks in 15 1/3 innings. The left-hander did add that he's identified some mechanical flaws to focus on going forward.

Lester

Lester (3-1, 1.58 ERA) is a big reason for the Cubs' success as well.
He had to grind through his shortest outing of the season Wednesday, though, while allowing eight hits and tossing 103 pitches in 5 2/3 innings against Pittsburgh. But the Pirates couldn't plate a run and he came away with a 6-2 victory.
The left-hander has given up one run or none in five of his six outings.
'It says a lot about pitch execution because Johnny got in some jams and was able to pitch out of it, which was really nice to see,' catcher David Ross said. 'He's done that a couple times here lately.'
Lester ran into a few jams when he faced the Padres last season and allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings of a 5-2 loss last April. Wil Myers, who played his first two seasons under Cubs manager Joe Maddon with Tampa

Moore

Tuesday's 10-5 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The left-hander surrendered seven runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Moore is 1-1 with a 1.71 ERA in four career starts against the Mariners, and Cano is 5 for 20 off him with a homer.

Heading in the wrong direction again.....

Lefties galore today 12 of them on the bump

Happ-Toronto
Santiago-Angels
Smyly-Tampa Bay
Wiley-Seattle
Holland-Texas
Rodon-White Sox
Manaea-A's
Wood-Dodgers
Rusin-Rockies
Lester-Cubs
Conley-Marlins
Morgan-Phillies

Conley

Conley is looking forward to his rematch against the Brewers.
He allowed no hits in 7 2/3 innings at Milwaukee on April 29 before being pulled from the game because he had thrown a career-high 116 pitches. He earned the victory and will face the Brewers again Tuesday night, when he expects a completely different kind of game.

Conley (2-1, 3.06 ERA) followed his performance at Milwaukee with a victory over Arizona six days later, when he allowed only two hits in 5 1/3 shutout innings. His early-season success has been one of the bright spots so far in 2016 for Miami.

Rodon vs Holland

Rodon (1-4, 4.36 ERA) looks to give Chicago a better performance in this one. After a solid first two outings, he's gone 0-3 with a 6.30 ERA over his last four after falling 5-2 to Boston on Wednesday.
He surrendered a two-run homer to David Ortiz in the fifth that put the Red Sox ahead for good before finishing the sixth.
The 23-year-old also has walked 14 over 33 innings.
Prior to his rough stretch, Rodon gave up two runs and struck out seven in 6 2/3 innings of Chicago's 4-3, 11-inning win over the Rangers on April 23. He's 1-0 with a 2.41 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 18 2/3 innings in three starts against Texas, which counters with Derek Holland in a matchup of left-handers.

Holland (3-2, 5.40) had a 2.48 ERA over his first five outings, then watched it balloon while allowing 11 runs and 11 hits in 2 2/3 innings of Thursday's 12-2 loss at Toronto. He also walked three in giving up the most runs in his eight-year career.
Holland lost 4-1 to the White Sox on April 24 after giving up three runs and walking three in 6 1/3 innings. He's 0-2 with a 6.86 ERA in four career starts against them.

7 Lefties on the bump today

Hamels-Texas
Garcia-Cards
Bumgarner-Giants
Surkamp-A's
Chen-Miami
Ray-D'Backs
Pomeranz-Padres

Chen

Miami starter Wei-Yin Chen 2-1, 4.66
Chen gave up three runs over 6 2-3 innings in last month's matchup, though he wasn't nearly as good his last time out. The left-hander yielded four runs and a season-high 11 hits over five innings without recording a decision in Friday's 6-4 win against Philadelphia.
Chen gave up three homers in his only other matchup with Milwaukee on May 27, 2014, though none of the Brewers who took him deep in that game are still with the club.
Miami (17-15) lost for just the fourth time in 16 games, though Stanton continued his tear by homering for the eighth time in his last 15 contests.

Hamels

Texas' run of 14 wins with Hamels (4-0, 2.68 ERA) on the mound ended May 1 when he allowed four runs, seven hits and walked four in five innings of a 9-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. Five days later, the left-hander looked dominant while yielding one hit and striking out nine over seven innings of a 5-1 victory at Detroit. Hamels also helped snap the Rangers' three-game slide.
