2023 Transfers

From Alabama:

JoJo Earle (WR) - TCU
Tommy Brockermeyer (OL) - TCU
Traeshon Holden (WR) - Oregon
Khyree Jackson (CB) - Oregon
Aaron Anderson (WR) - LSU
Javion Cohen (OL) - Miami
Tanner Bowles (OL) - Kentucky
Christian Leary (WR) - UCF

That's it for players that have transferred, still several in the portal. Wouldn't surprise me if more left after spring practice

Amari Kight (OL) - UCF

That's where I'm at. He'll get the players and transfers and put together an all-world staff. But his teams still stb in the two biggest games in his Jackson St tenure as huge faves.
I trust him to coach. All that time analyzing at NFL Network has shown he's a logical thinker and that likely puts him in the top 10th percentile in the sport

Some amazing football minds haven't necessarily been the best coaches. I have no doubt that he knows the game of football as well as anyone.

Managing egos is probably one of the most important thing for a coaching staff to do. I just feel that his ego could be counter productive to the process. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong.

Managing people is one of the hardest things to do in any organization, whether it's a team, business, club, etc. I think in college football, talent acquisition is the most important thing for a coach to do. It's what you do after that that counts though. That's the difference between Saban and Kirby vs Jimbo. We'll see where Deion goes from here. I think Colorado will see a significant boost on the talent infusion alone. And it's probably a place where it's ok to be 7-5, 8-4 for a few years while he figures out the rest. I'm interested to see how he does for sure

Their fan base would be giddy over 7-5 or 8-4. If he gets them to that level look for him to jump up the food chain.

I really can't put a finger on what his end game is. Not like he's hurting for cash, does he even want to go to an SEC school? Guess I could see him go to FSU if it opens up but seems like Norvell has them headed in the right direction. Maybe Miami? Maybe NFL?

Boulder is a great situation, hip crowd, close to Denver...just not sure if he's the type that cares about the prestige of some of the schools that most coaches would consider dream jobs.

I think it's safe to say that most people that have risen to his level as an athlete and now as a coach, have pretty large egos, or are at least hyper-competitive. It makes sense for him to keep rising up the food chain. But there are those who get to a certain level and realize that is where they want to be, and don't want to go any farther and risk losing what they have. I think Mike Stoops at Kentucky is in this boat. I'm sure there are other examples, but he comes to mind first

I'd say great fit if Brohm were still there, but I don't know what kind of offense Purdue will run now. I never saw any evidence that Ewers was a better QB than Card this year
I looked it up and the OC at Purdue will be Graham Harrell, former QB under Leach and a disciple of the Air Raid. Card should be a perfect fit. He reads defenses, makes quick decisions and doesn't throw picks.

CJ Dippre (TE) from Maryland becomes Alabama's first addition from the transfer portal. I don't know much about him, but he has good size and we definitely need a player that can fulfill the traditional role of a TE

Rumors are Sam Hartman is transferring to the Irish
That would be the biggest impact of any player in the portal. Hartman is one of the best QBs in the country. I'd love to see him with a roster full of talent on both offense and defense. Hartman's never had the advantage of taking the field knowing he has the best O-line and the best D

Oh, it's happening everywhere and there is no rule on it.

Just saying ...
When we are already hearing where a guys going before he enters the portal

It's no different than pro league free agency

As long as nobody is stupid enough to put something to paper or send an email about it, nobody ever gettin taken down for it

Yep....it's Air Raid. Graham, Walters, and Brees cornered Card last week and looks like got the deal done. Quite excited about the Graham/Card upcoming era

SMU QB Tanner Mordecai to the portal. Reports are he's headed to Wisconsin. Good pickup for the Badgers if true.

The portal was perfect for a guy like Mordecai. He proved he is a great QB under Dykes, then Dykes leaves and the entire program takes a step back when the suits hire a guy who's never been a head coach before and has no idea how to take advantage of Mordecai

Luke will know what to do with him when he gets to Wisconsin

I’ll get something together
Boutte is extremely minor, like as minor as it gets
He never really lived up to the hype created by that monster game he had against Ole Miss as a freshman did he?

Probably smart to go pro this year though with such a limited offensive class wrt skill positions

Very surprising

McCall has withdrawn from the portal and is staying with Coastal
Won't surprise me if the former coach worked out an excellent NIL deal for him.

Money is no problem. The former head coach made a fortune on wall street before he became a coach. He may take it even further and come back as head coach

Do think Rebs become at least relevant in MWC by playing in that stadium
Yeah, I think the elements are all there for them to become a MWC power. I came here from San Diego and had always said the same thing about SDSU (their biggest problem was always not being on the PAC 12 - couldn't keep San Diego HS superstars (i.e. Allen, Seau, etc) for going to PAC 12 schools. But the Fertitta's (Station Casinos and former UFC owners) have helped them build up their facilities. And with Allegiant that's should be a great draw. Vegas has become a much more "normal" city the last 20 years and so I don't think parents will object as much to kids coming here. Still a commuter school and UNLV ranks pretty low on things to do here. All about getting the right coach and Petrino would likely have guided a pretty dominant offense. Odom not sure on. We'll see I guess.
