I’m a Bomber fan but I watch Rangers more by default and especially this year.

Big crowd. Lotta Texas bankers/transplants.

Right now our most glaring problem is our pen
They are the “elephant in the room” everyone knows we stink but Kennedi would never dare to write about it.
CY needs to come up with two big arms soon because as nice as a start we’ve had it will be forgotten if/when we miss the playoffs

We also can get a key hit and we leave too many men on base

Will enjoy tonight and then hope to go 2-2 vs the Assho’s

Our halfway point in the 2023 season
49-32

it’s our third best 81-game start to a season in Washington/Texas history behind only 2016 (52-29) and 2012 (50-31)

It’s been over 10 years since the Rangers had a starter in the MLB All-Star Game
That last time was in 2012 when Josh Hamilton (LF), Adrián Beltré (3B), and Mike Napoli (C) started for the American League in Kansas City.

Four Rangers position players landed in the starting lineup:
2B Marcus Semien
SS: Corey Seager
3B Josh Jung
C: Jonah Heim

Have pitchers been announced? I assume Eovaldi has to be a member. Hard to push for start with mcClanahan doing what he is and ohtani being must watch. Either way he been fantastic and I think a huge reason the degrom fiasco didn’t crush them.

What you think bout this upcoming series, they are pretty freaking big favs tonight! I like Gray and all but -165? Houston seems the be starting to recover from the shell shock of alverez going down. Big time series, if they gonna put out these kind of lines on your squad this might be the start of me playing against them, they mostly been a play on team for me but I see no value here. Actually think there a good case for Stros with the much better pen and the plus.

I’m hoping to go 2-2 in this series
But I feel we’ll only win 1 game…

I forgot to bet houston before game but worked out. Think they have a huge edge once the starters out, when they got down 3-1 I bolted across river, it was 3-2 by then but still got a nicer price. Wasn’t long till stros were up for good!!

I still don’t understand the price on game 1. Game 2 I think is much more accurate. Gotta give Eovaldi some respect but hunter brown has been very good himself and once again when the starters leave houston has the edge. They need Eovaldi to be super efficient out the gates so his pitch count gives him a chance to pitch 7-8 innings. He can do it but his last few starts he wasted too many pitches in the early innings, that will get them beat if he can’t pitch into the 7th. I might take a wait and see approach, if Stros are able to force a few 20+ pitch innings early on it sets up to grab them live, even better if rangers take a 1-2 run lead while Eovaldi pitch count getting up there.

I think the best bet with Eovaldi today is
UNDER 18.5 recorded outs -135

On Draft Kings under pitchers props

He has struggled with Stros. I played houston again. Can’t pass up the plus money on the world champs in a series I think they want badly. Think they go hand and hand, if Eovaldi doesn’t go past 6 I’ll love Stros even more! My concern would be they seem to be willing to give Eovaldi a chance in the 7th even when he doesn’t have best stuff.

I don’t see Eovaldi going more than 5 innings today
His pitch count will be right around 100 by then

We had a 3-1 lead after four but gave up three in the sixth and we went on to lose
3-1
Now have lost two in a row and are 4-6 over our last ten games
Our record stands at 49-33

Amazes me how Bocce remains untouchable as we have started to swoon the past two weeks
We are limping our way to the All-Star break
Our next nine games six are vs tough opponents (3 Asshos) (3 Red Sox)

Eovaldi takes to the hill this afternoon

I don’t see Eovaldi going more than 5 innings today
His pitch count will be right around 100 by then

Don’t disagree. 6.1 is a big ask. He has been struggling in early innings against offenses not as good as Stros. For the most part he been able to settle in and pitch a decent game but it been a minute since he has looked dominant, then there the fact Stros hit him well.

A strong seven innings from Eovaldi and we went on to win

through 3 games we are 5-33 with RISP .152 and have left 22 on base

Perez takes the ball tomorrow afternoon to attempt to get a split in this series
Right after the game we head to Bean Town to face the Red Sawx

I’m going to say this was our worst lost of the season
We were down 6-2 and 10-2 we then rallied to take the lead 11-10 but true to form our pen shit the bed
Final score was 12-11 and we lost 3 of 4 to the Assho’s.
Our record is now 50-35 we are 3-7 in our last 10

“these guys battled so hard today”
“what great fight they showed”
The media continues to give Bocce a free pass & he continues to say the same thing after every losing streak

Final score Red Sox win 4-2 our record is now 51-36

Gray (L 6-5) 6.0 innings gave up 9 hits 4 runs 3 of them earned walked 3 struck out 2

Gray hasn’t been right since his blister issue
In his first 12 starts this year, Gray was very good
going 6-2 with a 2.32 ERA and 63 strikeouts
In his four starts since his blister he’s 0-3 with a 6.98 ERA and only 12 strikeouts

King 2.0 scoreless innings

Garcia 2-4 drove in 2
hit his 22nd HR a 2 run shot
I’ve been saying this forever RE: Garcia trade him for a big pen arm and a prospect
yes he’s a good player but he’s not a team player

Heim, Jung & Semien all 0-4

Garver, Grossman & Lowe all 1-4

Seager 3-4

Jankowski 1-3

struck out 5 times
went 1-7 with RISP and left 6 on base

NO beat writer asks the very important question to Bocce why can’t we get a hit with RISP
that’s our biggest issue over the past three weeks

We are limping into the ASG break, if it was my choice I’d have everyone who made the team not play and just get some rest for the 2nd half

Eovaldi gets the ball tonight to try and win the series
After the game off to Washington to face the Nats for the weekend…

Surprise,Surprise,Surprise our bullpen imploded yet again

Of course the team lap dog Kennedi Landry & Bocce will say “we fought hard” “tough breaks” BLAH,BLAH,BLAH bullshit

This team is heading towards an epic collapse unless some things change quickly in the pen and with our hitting coach
For three weeks we can’t get a hit with RISP and we are leaving way too many on base

We better win the series vs the Nats which starts tomorrow night
Bradford takes to the hill

Surprise,Surprise,Surprise our bullpen imploded yet again
We gave up six runs in the bottom of the seventh to lose the game and the series
Final score was 10-6 our record stands at 51-37

We are 0-3-1 in our last four series & are 2-5 in our last 7 games

Yeah the ship is starting take on some water. Hopefully Jake will be back soon to stop the leak…

We really need a W tomorrow

Lowe 2-4

Jung 2-4 drove in 3
hit 2 HRs his 18th & 19th

struck out 4 times
went 0-5 with RISP and left 6 on base

Dunning gets the ball tomorrow as we limp into the AS game
We are 3-7 in our last 10 and are not in a good place
Yes we are in first place but the Astros are creeping back into it

I’ll have my report card for the first half on Monday…

I waited a few hours to write this recap

First off in our last 5 series we went 0-4-1
Over the past week we lost 3/4 at home to the Astros
This week went 1-2 vs the Red Sox and 1-2 vs the lowly Nats

If you didn’t figure it out we lost today 7-2
dropping our record to 52-39
In our last two games of this series we were outscored 15-5

This is what happens when you have three players who play daily and only thing they care about are their stats

For the record they are NOT
Marcus, Jonah or Nate

Dunning (L 8-2) threw 5.2 innings giving up 7 hits 4 runs all of them earned
walked 2 struck out 4 and gave up 1 HR

Sborz was putrid 1.0 gave up 5 hits 3 runs all earned also gave up 2 HRs

Leclerc threw 1.1 innings and didn’t allow a run

Semien 1-4
Seager 1-4
Jung 2-3
Garcia 1-4 drove in 2
Lowe 0-3
Garver 1-4
Grossman 0-4
Duran 1-4
Taveras 1-4

struck out 6 times
went 1-9 with RISP and left 8 on base
we went 3-22 (.136) with RISP in this series

Unless the team has a complete lobotomy during the AS break we will continue our downward slide
Too many “me” players on this team
Our bullpen is a complete shit show and our starters are starting to fall apart

Bocce has skated through this slump because people like Kennedi Landry are told to not ask certain questions

The warm fuzzy feeling has faded away
There are 71 games left and I’ll say we go
32-39

Could we miss the playoffs? YES
Will we win the division? NO

I’m going to go pour myself a drink and grill a few hamburgers
Sometime tomorrow I’ll post the grades for the first half…

All Star Break Grades:

2022 record: 41-49
2023 record: 52-39

Bochy: C-
he has just sat back these last 2/3 weeks as we’ve struggled and says “trying hard” “tough breaks” but hasn’t done a damn thing to wake up the team
he wants to be liked by everyone
time to shake up the line up and get tough on those not performing and those who make it all about themselves

Maddux: F
our bullpen is a mess
he has done a good job with Dunning

Semien: A
2022: .239
2023; .271
Marcus tired some over the last 2 weeks
wish he took the 4 days off to rest up
He’s the consummate professional, comes to work early & wants to play every day
Does great community work as well without any fan fare
Just wish he was a more vocal leader

Seager: B+
2022: .251
2023: .353
missed some time with a injury
has hit for average & his defense has improved
biggest issue is he’s all about himself & Bocce allows it

Garcia: B+
2022: .237
2023: .261
has 23 HR’s 75 RBI’s
he’s got so much raw talent and could easily be a 50+ HR hitter & knock in 115+ runs BUT he’s another “look at me” player
Once he gets his big paycheck and he will I don’t feel he’ll play as hard day to day

Lowe: B+
2022: .270
2023: .270
9 HR’s 45 RBI’s
does his job every day, always is prepared
will hit between .280-.290
he emulates Marcus’s professionalism, great team player

Taveras: B
2022: .341
2023: .295
a very good player that takes instructions well
lots of upside for him

Heim: A+
2022: .262
2023: .282
Jonah has improved his offense & defense
he’s a top 3 catcher in all of MLB

Jung: B+
2022:
2023: .280
Gotta admit I’ve been very wrong about his production 19 HRs 56RBIs
he’s got quite a bit of upside as well BUT he’s got to learn it’s a team sport not a “look at my numbers”

Grossman: C
2023: .223
7 HR’s 35 RBI’s
was resurrected from the garbage dump and has been a OK piece of the puzzle

Duran: C+
2022: .236
2023: .308
12 HRs 35 RBIs
has been doing his job very well, wouldn’t be surprised if he was part of a package at trade deadline

Josh Smith: C-
2022: .234
2023: .211
Josh still can’t hit well and has only had 109 ABs
can play many positions well and that’s the only reason he’s still on the team
he’s a natural SS & I hope he gets to show his skills with his next team

Starters:

deGrom: D
he pitched 26.2 innings only gave up 4 earned runs
most likely his career is over after his TJ surgery
they are saying mid to late August 2024 return but that’s just a wish

Eovaldi: A
10-3 2.83
he’s slowed down some after a amazing start

Perez: C
7-3 4.81
TB & Astros rocked him in his most recent starts
ERA last year was 2.89
he needs a form reversal in the second half

Dunning: A+
8-2 2.84
when Jake went down he was called on and has responded VERY well
I hope he has a big second half

Bradford: C+
1-1 4.39
has been useful as a fill in starter

Gray: C-
6-5 3.29
has lost 3 in a row but one of those losses was a tough 1-0 game vs Yankees
needs a much better second half

Heaney: D
5-6 4.71
lost 3 in a row and 2/3 last starts he got rocked (Tigers & Nats)
not sure he’ll finish the year as a starter

Bullpen: F-
has been our Achilles heel most of the season, every month our ERA has risen

Chapman should be an improvement but we still need two more arms

Will Smith (3.08) has 14 saves

summary:
we are in first place but the last three weeks the wheels on the bus have fallen off
losing 3/4 to the Astros and then 2/3 to the Red Sox & Nats to head into the AS break

Indians, Rays and Dodgers are our first three series after the break
we very easily could lose all of them
when we head to Houston on the 24th I’m going to say we’ll be in second place

IF we get two arms in our pen and Lance Lynn plus one other starter plus a quality OFer then we can right the ship

I’m going to try & stay positive about the second half but I have ZERO faith in Bocce & Maddux

My prediction is 32-39 for our final 71 games
Only way we’ll get into the playoffs is by winning the division
Let’s see what happens
Would I bet on them winning it? NOPE

Positivity is not your strength bro! Lol. I’d kill for cardinals to be having close to the season ya’ll are!! Houston keeps getting bitten with the injury bug, I think ya’ll hold them off. I dunno what their schedule like but it be super disappointing if they went below .500 rest the way, I don’t see it.

here’s our next 5 series, we could lose all of them

Indians
Rays
Dodgers
Astros
Padres

It’s hard to be positive with Bocce and CY calling the shots

The talent is there but we have no leaders on the field and in the clubhouse

32-39 isn’t far fetched at all…

Bocce a HOF type manager isn’t he?

He has 2 or 3 rings don’t he?

I knew that wasn’t right but I’m terrible spelling names so just went w it!
Bochy aka Bocce Ball is too set in his ways
a lineup shakeup is needed and he needs to crack the whip
no more Mr Nice Guy

There is a players only meeting prior to tonight’s game
Will be interesting to see if they come out with some passion

Indians came out storming built a 4-0 lead after three innings
We then outscored them 12-0
Final score was 12-4 our record is now 53-39

We shut out the Indians 2-0 upping our record to 54-39

Heaney (W 6-6) threw 87 pitches over 5.1 innings
gave up 6 hits no runs walked 1 struck out 4

G. Anderson 1 scoreless inning

W. Smith 1.2 scoreless innings

Chapman (S 3) 1.0 scoreless inning

Semien 2-3 drove in 1
Seager & Jankowski both 1-3

Garcia did drive in 1 run
Jung 0-4
Heim 1-2
Taveras 0-2

went 0-4 with RISP and left 6 on base

Tomorrow Perez takes to the hill to go for the sweep

A 2-0 start and a series win, good way to start the second half
especially since we have the Rays & Dodgers next week…
