2023 Texas Rangers - Entire Season

Jesus, I just looked it up, they on the hook with this guy for 5 freaking years at around 35 mil per? That coulda got them 2 respectable pitchers!
This WILL go down as the worst contract the Rangers ever gave to a player
The Mets knew that he was fragile and they never even tried to sign him
We could have gotten a very good starter and closer with the money we wasted on Jake

We were 18-9 in the month of May
Our 35-20 record is our best total through 55 games
We’ve been in first place 60 out of 61 days
April 8th was our only day not in first

Four players had more than 30 hits

Bubba was hitting .170 with 4 RBIs in 36 games

Heaney gets the ball tomorrow afternoon

Great pitching. I was kinda pissed they didn’t let gray pitch the 8th, cashed his total outs but his k’s was only pitcher prop I missed. I was shocked they pulled him considering the pen and he was cruising but gotta trust a HOF manager I guess! I have no clue who this kid pitching for seattle 2marro? I’d think Heaney will strike out a bunch, seattle struggling at the plate.

April 3, 2023RHP Bryan Woo and assigned to Arkansas Travelers from Everett AquaSox

In the past we’ve struggled against call up pitchers like Woo
Seattle is hoping to get 4-5 innings out of him

I hope you’re enjoying this ride so far, lefty.

I can’t believe they set rangers team total at 4.5 2marro vs a washed up waino and a crappy cards pen!! I jumped all over that number! No clue why they didn’t make it 5.5? Waino can’t get thru bad lineups 2x without damage, I dunno how the hell he don’t get rocked here?

Good luck

Great thread to follow. I get every game here in NO on Bally.

Fun times. I hope they make it far, you boys there deserve it after watching your neighbors in H Town have a long run

The best thing about a deep ranger run is remembering how they lost that WS to cardinals in such tragic fashion! Lol. 1 strike away from winning the whole thing in the 9th and 10th in game 6 before Freese ripped their hearts out!! then of course gm 7 was a foregone conclusion, nobody coming back and winning that game after being so so close to winning gm 6! That was after being whipped by giants the previous year. Since cards have no chance in hell this year I think I shall root for rangers to get I believe their 1st ever championship?

Nellie Cruz butchering the play in game 6....ugh.

Great read in the Athletic the other day about Bochy's impact on the team. I think it was Lowe that said the clubhouse is and has been simply "happy", and happy players produce.

Should be a fun August in Texas. Never been an Astros fan and I've had to wear my Rangers hat in quasi shame for quite a few years now. Feels a ton better in '23, to say the least.

The fact they not blowing a ton of games has to be a testament to Bochy being great at late game. I don’t really watch much but I know he was fantastic getting the most out his pens in San Fran. Give him a few pieces to work with or the one stud who often makes the entire pen better and watch him work his magic!

Yes it’s been fun so far
Is it all Bocce Ball???
I’m not so sure about that
Let’s see how he reacts when we hit a rough patch
So far we’ve only had one when the Reds swept us in May

Eovaldi,Gray & Dunning are the keys to success

Our pen is pure dog shit and that’s being impolite to dog shit

Our bats will go quiet for a bit

The true MVPs of this team are Semien & Heim

Seager,Garcia & Jung are not the best clubhouse figures

Jake is a waste of time and money

Sad part is as well as this team has been playing they aren’t the “talk of the town”
The fuking Cowboys will always be the stars in Arlington

Despite our pen giving up a lead AGAIN
Thanks to a Nate Lowe single we won our fourth in a row
Final score was 4-3 our record now stands at 39-20

Marty threw a very solid 7.0 innings giving up 3 hits 1 run which wasn’t earned walked 1 struck out 5

G Anderson (BS1) 1.0 gave up 3 hits 2 runs both earned

W Smith (W 1-2) threw 1.0 scoreless inning

Marcus “MVP” 2-4 drove in 1 .306
he has a career high 24 game hitting streak

Lowe 2-5 drove in 1 .283

Taveras 0-4 drove in 1

Duran 1-3 drove in 1

Seager 2-5

Garcia 1-4

Heim & Jung both 1-4

Garver 1-3

struck out 8 times and went 3-8 with RISP and left 10 on base

Not So BREAKING NEWS:

Jake’s recovery isn’t going well and he was placed on the 60 DL list
As I said the day he left the mound in April we won’t see him again until maybe late August and now that’s doubtful
This will go down as our worst contract ever

Are we as good because of Bocce Ball ?quite a few ask me and I say this
IF Tony Beasley had the pitching staff we have today we’d have the same record
Tony caught the short end of the straw with last years team

If Eovaldi wasn’t signed we’d be a sub .500 team
Winning is contagious and right now all is good BUT our pen is awful and needs two arms

Hernandez was optioned to AAA
he was 1-1 with a 6.65 ERA in 25 relief appearances

Spencer Howard was recalled

Dunning gets the ball tonight…

I really needed cards dumb asses not to gift the pen a out on the bases, had cards scored 4 to take the lead I have no doubt rangers would have scored 5 to win it the way that 9th was going. God it felt like they had 2 guys on every freaking inning vs waino and kept leaving them out there!! Shoulda scored a few in the 1st along with the 3 in second, had chances other innings also.

Dunning should be really tough for cards, he has the right kind of mix long as he not too heavy with the cutter, cards like those. Perez did great with his mix so I assume dunning will as well. Lot of sliders to the middle the order righties, lot of off speed to the lefties and cards will be all out of sorts!

On other side I expect ya’ll to smash Liberatore, he is not good, he been ok his 1st couple starts this year but he also faced 2 of the worst lhp lineups in baseball! As you know your boys get on base and hit lefties really well. Liberatore will give them free passes and they should be able to rock him when he comes into the zone!

I saw there was a 13-15 mph wind blowing in today, how does that effect things here and will roof be opened? Looks like pretty nice weather, this park does strike me as pitcher friendly, is that how you see it?

big storms just rolled through the area
(3:15 PM CST)

Rangers come outta nowhere this season like a runaway freight train, congrats.

struck out 4 times went 2-6 with RISP and left 8 on base

Gray takes to the mound tonight
Off tomorrow as we head to Tampa for a big weekend series vs the Rays…

Tough not to ride with them again considering how reasonable the prices been. One of best teams in the better league vs the team with I believe the worst record in the nl and never higher than -140ish, basically even every day to play the Ff -.5 despite having a significant starting pitcher edge the 1st 2. Only problem today is flaherty practically impossible for me to cap, he actually has good enough stuff to be great, just never know what he will pitch like on a given day!!

Gray was brilliant but our offense took the night off
We lost 1-0 our record now stands at 40-21

Gray (L 6-2) struck out 12 which is a season high and threw his second complete game of his career his first complete game since 2016

this was a big win for us
no pressure on Marty tomorrow
after the game we fly home to face the Halos for a four game series

A tricky 6 week stretch ahead...series against the White Sox, Tigers and Nats sprinkled amongst battles with the Jays, Yanks, Astros and Boston prior to the summer classic.

We come out of the break with a series at home against the Indians, but then it's Rays, Dodgers, Astros, Padres to close out the month.

If we come out of that run still sitting pretty, I'll be looking at flights to Arlington for October.

The Halos are in town tomorrow night to start a four game series
Dunning takes to the mound…

No shame taking a little bit a beating in tampa, those cats are damn near invincible in the trop. I wanted to back rangers simply cause the price yesterday but I played Eovaldi game 2 and won, no way was I fading rays 2 in a row at home after getting a W I bounced! Lol.

Dunning should give them a great chance to win tonight, I played his total outs over 15.5, pretty good history vs halo’s. They are kinda hot so he will have to be on his game.

Lost in extras final score was 9-6
Top four in our lineup went 2-21
We’ve now lost 4 of our last 5 games
Our record stands at 41-24
Bocce Ball using his same old excuses “hard fought game” “good effort”
his first speed bump & he looks like a deer in the headlights

Dunning 5.0 innings gave up 6 hits 4 runs all of them earned walked 5 struck out 3
he’s a bit tired & hopefully Maddux might suggest him miss a start

G Anderson (BS 2) 2.1 innings gave up 1 hit 1 run which was earned he gave up a solo HR

Our schedule isn’t filled with cupcakes the rest of this week and next week we are in the Bronx to face the Yankees

Gray is scratched from his start tonight due to a blister

we’ve left 27 men on base in these first two games vs the Angels

The wheels on the bus are starting to fall off and as of tonight Bocce Ball staying with his cliche answers “hard fought” “trying hard”
The Rangers aren’t like his previous teams we’ve sucked for a while now and things need to be shaken up

Maddux isn’t the pitching “guru” that Bocce stated he was

As I said yesterday things don’t get easier this week or next werk

Heaney gets the ball tomorrow night…

Losing pen battles to laa isn’t very promising, I don’t think of them having all that great a pen either.
we should have won both games BUT
we are 0-2

I’m only telling you this we are going to sign at least one of these and will give away some top prospects to get 2 of them

Classe (Indians)
Williams (Brewers)
Jansen (Red Sox).

You think milw will deal Williams? Even tho he on last year of contract I still can’t see it with the central sitting there for the taking. I thought they moved Hader cause they planned on Williams being there longer term but I’m sure he looking for a huge pay raise from the 3.5 mil he earning this year, maybe they can’t afford him long term? Still seems crazy to me they would deal him but I guess if the package is right, he would be a massive get. Lot of times a struggling pen gets a whole lot better just adding that one shut down guy to the back end so everyone else can fall into place.

I dunno what ya’ll farm system looks like as I don’t follow those very closely outside of stl. If milw makes Williams available I’d think even as a rental he would command a haul, forgetting bout last nights blow up there not many better closers out there imo. Probably be several teams bidding on him! Even if that wasn’t the case considering the position milw in I’d think it take a lot for them to move him, can’t imagine that be a popular move!

Oh I’m sure they will listen, just would think it take a lot for them to give him up. It would be hugely unpopular with the central being so easy to win this year. Of course they don’t wanna run the risk of him walking and getting nothing but I can’t imagine the fan base taking it well.

Thanks to a three run seventh inning we went on to win
