2017 Trade Deadline and Summer Thread...News/Rumors etc

Reasonable return for Philly. The pick is top 18 protected so it'll probably convey in 2018, wonder what the protection on it will be then.

I'm not totally in love with the deal for them though, resigning him with otherwise useless cap space this summer then shopping him was also an option.

Dallas building around a Harry B / Noel core moving forward, fine but kind of stupid for them to be making these moves instead of tanking in this draft imo.

Getting a rookie scale wing in Anderson also a nice little get for Philly, worth the tryout over the next couple years.

Boston leaking that the BK picks are in play now means they're getting Paul George, which would make for a FANTASTIC eastern conference finals.

Expecting the deal to go down today.

Does Cleveland have a shitty pick to send Philly's way for Bogut?

Boston could also throw in some garbage pick too.

Ya was just gonna say lowe and woj reporting that

Don't think it's auto they make ECF with that move though, lot of overlap in usage rate for him and IT

Teed I personally think PG can operate fine without the ball, if anything he's proven to not be the best pnr ball handler / create offense from scratch guy against tough defenses.

He's more malleable than Butler who really does need the ball a ton imo, can coexist very well with IT and spread the floor. As good a defensive wing as there is which is HUGE for Boston.

So yeah the more I think about it the more I think this was a bad deal for Philly. Noel is a lot better than this return imo.

absolutely. Colangelo is trash. We had the best GM, the league made us fire him, and now this clown is gonna burn that solid foundation to the ground

I wouldnt say Hinkie had proven he was anywhere near the best GM in the league

tanking was smart, but if Embiid's foot was still an issue this team is still 5 years away from being any good

he had no other ideas besides suck

even his draft picks which he hoarded

how many were good picks?

teed...

ppl do this with NBA GMs all the time....if you list every single one of their draft picks, they are going to look bad bc its not like the NFL. Most picks do not pan out. If you are outside the top 8, you are lucky to get a rotation player. You can do the same with Ainge.

What I do see in there:

Simmons/Embiid/Saric all stars or very good players

Holmes/Payton/Mcdaniels/Grant are all NBA players

bunch of euro guys who could or may not pan out

MCW is kind of in a league of his own...we can agree hes not good but he got us a 1st rd pick and won ROY

im thrilled with that list to be honest.

I don't think it's unfair to look at his list of draft picks and judge it when it was his entire strategy

and I agree he doesn't need to hit a lot, when you factor in how small NBA lineups are

but what if Embiid isn't what he is

the 76ers are nowhere near the playoffs

I agreed with his idea of tanking for a star, but to call him the best GM in the league is insane

yeah that's fine....hes prob not the best in the league. im in the cult of philly fans who loved him. I think he was awesome. but yeah prob not BEST...but its horseshit he got kicked out of town for the colangelo clowns

I called him "the best GM" bc to us he was the best...but yeah not best in the NBA....but he was the man

Jesus the Dallas pick becomes 2 2's if it doesn't convey this year (which it won't).

This a bad bad deal for Philly, they got nothing.

Simmons is an all star?

I meant "they are all stars" and yeah im still considering him a star til he proves otherwise....consensus number 1 overall pick, im ok with calling that a good pick

Kwame Brown isn't walking through that door.

Michael Olawkandi isn't walking through that door.

Anthony Bennett isn't walking through that door.

Greg Oden isn't walking through that door.

im guessing we end up with like 5-10 role player deals

too late for Boston to last minute something for Butler or PG, guessing they wont move this years pick and just seeing if the Pacers blink

Rockets sending K.J. McDaniels into the Nets' cap space, source confirmed. Basically a move just to move salary.

McDaniels could not crack D'Antoni's rotation. Rockets will be active in buyout market. Gives Rockets $3.3 million in cap room.

Weird no move being made here (rolls eyes)

Sources: Pacers asking for 3 of 4 from group of Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, Marcus Smart, and Jaylen Brown + 2017 Nets pick for Paul George.

fwiw, looks like Rose for Rubio is on life support at best.

Had no idea Hibbert was still in league...
And why do you 'heavily-protect' a 2nd round pick?

Milwaukee is finalzing a deal to send Roy Hibbert to the Denver Nuggets, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Denver will send a heavily protected second-round pick to the Bucks for Hibbert, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Geez why not just ask for the team nick and logos while you're at it
