hard to hold onto all those kids when you can't promise playing time right away, twink.

LA and miss were loaded as hell this year with local talent.

pretty badass class that les got a hold of regardless of that though.

Defensive tackle Shavar Manuel's flip from Florida to rival Florida State on national signing day Wednesday was a strategic move two weeks in the making that the Seminoles were well aware of, according to an FSU assistant coach.

"Shavar had told me the night before, 'I'm a Seminole,' and then he committed to Florida," Lawing said during FSU's annual signing day party, according to the Orlando Sentinel. "I called him up, asked what's going on, and he said, 'I'm just getting some pressure from people.'

"So he didn't just flip tonight. We've known about this for about two weeks

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher told FM 96.9 The Game in Orlando, Florida, that he wouldn't define Manuel's flip as choreographed but said the Seminoles felt "very good" about their chances of picking up the defensive tackle.

1. Nacogdoches DB Brandon Jones:
Officially visiting Texas A&M this weekend. Has plans to make a decision on National Signing Day. The Aggies’ main competition appears to be the Texas Longhorns but the five-star prospect is still considering Ole Miss, Oregon, Auburn, LSU and Baylor. Kevin Sumlin’s program is still the overwhelming favorites to land the Nation’s top rated safety.

2. Aldine Davis LB Jeffrey McCulloch:
The Under Armour All-American linebacker was a Longhorn lean in the early stages of his recruitment but John Chavis has made a big impact on the four-star defender. He will be in on his official visit this weekend and we should know whether or not he intends to announce his decision in January or push it back after he returns from College Station. If the Top247 prospect stays in-state all signs point towards McCulloch choosing the Aggies. If he leaves the Lone Star State, it will be a Stanford/Notre Dame battle.

3. FB Elkins DT Ross Blacklock:
Also officially visiting College Station this week, the Army All-American is leaning towards A&M at the moment and is expected to announce his commitment in San Antonio. However, there is a chance the four-star run stopper elects to take a few more visits after the dead period so there’s a chance he ends up taking a little more time before making a commitment. Considered an LSU/A&M battle, we’re hearing the Tigers are not pursuing as hard as they once were.

4. Saguaro (AZ) CB Byron Murphy:
I originally put my Crystal Ball pick in for the Army All-American to A&M back in the early spring time but after the Aggies’ lost out on the N’Keal Harry sweepstakes, all signs pointed towards the four-star prospect staying close to home. However, over the past few weeks, things have taken a turn and now the Aggies and Washington Huskies has emerged as the frontrunners. With Murphy expected to announce his decision during the dead period, there’s a good chance we see a YESSIR! pop up around Christmas time.

5. Waco DB Eric Cuffee:
In a matter of a few weeks this summer, the Aggies went from being eliminated after not offering in the springtime to the perceived favorites for the Under Armour All-American. This weekend the four-star ball-hawk will be in Austin officially visiting the Longhorns but there’s not much Charlie Strong and his staff can do to delay the inevitable on January 2nd.

6. Wildcard: The Aggies will likely take more than five defensive prospects to round out this class but will they land one of the remaining targets they are “still in the running” for listed below or will they get in on an under-the-radar prospect late in the process? This time of the year is always crazy with the numbers crunch so it’s tough to predict.
Still in the running:

remember around 12 months ago when they destroyed our program and set up a recruiting pipeline in Louisiana?

Alright, here's the story:

I went to high school with Taylor Hamm and he was a year younger than me and everyone hated him. The guy was always desperate to try and go to the big parties that would be going on and hound people to try and find out what the deal was--not unlike following someone into a bathroom to try and get information.

A year or so ago, one of my buddies from HS posted something about Manziel sucking on Facebook and Hamm shows up and started losing his **** and we all jumped in and started trolling him. His best response was "lets compare paystubs," I **** you not (he said this to engineers and attorneys). When we all busted out laughing at him, he followed that gem up with something to the effect of "I'll keep making six figures and laughing at your phony ass" to which we all started hammering on him even harder, nicknaming him "6Figs" throughout the rest of the comments.

I managed to screen shot the most relevant part of the conversation before he deleted everything else (below). It's also worth mentioning that beyond the obvious indications that Taylor is a dumbass, he's actually a total dumbass in terms of grades, etc. Taylor couldn't even get into Tech out of high school and went to Blinn. I'm not sure if he ever actually attended A&M to be honest.

Not that anyone needed the confirmation, but Taylor's academic achievements make Rick Perry look like a Rhodes Scholar

It is never a dull day on the recruiting trail, especially for an upper-echelon program like LSU. The Tigers currently have 20 commitments, but are looking to sign up to 27 this recruiting cycle. The names have not changed, but some of the finer details have, in regards to some of its top targets. Here is a rundown of the latest developments for LSU on the recruiting trail.
Devonta Smith was always a priority for this LSU coaching staff, but signs are pointing to them moving on in regards to recruiting the state's top prospect. Smith had minimal contact with the LSU staff in recent weeks, which may be more of a defensive strategy than anything else. Many, including a large contingent of sources in the LSU recruiting office, believe that Smith is dead-set on signing with Alabama on National Signing Day. If that is indeed the case, which I believe it is, then he becomes a liability to the LSU staff, as he has the ability to lure some of its top targets with him.
2018 Scotlandville defensive back Kelvin Joseph, an LSU commit, is a prime example. Smith has become close with Joseph, as the two have traveled to camps and visits together, including a trip to Tuscaloosa. Not recruiting Smith means accepting defeat on the state's top prospect, while continuing to bring him around on recruiting visits allows for him to gain more influence on other LSU targets. It is almost a lose-lose situation.
Dylan Moses recently stated that he is looking at Houston as a potential destination, but I would not put much into it. He is looking to add them to his official visit list, but would have to remove one of the other five finalists to do so, most likely UCLA, according to a source. Houston has a lot of ground to make up in little time, as Moses plans to make his decision on December 15. The wild card here is Les Miles' status with the university. If the Tigers fail to live up to expectations and Miles finds himself in the middle of another publicized battle for his job, that would greatly affect Moses' recruitment--unless LSU were to hire someone like ... Tom Herman from Houston.
IMG Academy wide receiver Jhamon Ausbon had LSU fans on the edge of their seats this week, as he took to Twitter about an impending announcement--leaving many to believe that he may be flipping his commitment. Instead, the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder announced that he will be playing in the Under Armour All-America Game. However, there is still some chatter that Ausbon is strongly considering playing for Texas A&M, as the Aggies staff continues to make a push for one of the nation's top receivers. There is still a long way to go, but Ausbon is a prime candidate for a late switch of his commitment, which could leave LSU and its thinning wide receiver corps in trouble.

Both players committed to LSU over the summer.
Thibodaux standout athlete Amik Robertson made his commitment to Louisiana Tech public on Sunday, which resulted in numerous questions through social media regarding LSU's interest in the dynamic playmaker. Yes, the Tigers are still monitoring Robertson. No, an offer is not imminent. The Tigers already have commitments from two cornerback prospects in Lutcher quarterback Jontre Kirklin and Texas' Kary Vincent, which is the number they wanted to sign coming into this cycle.
Robertson made quite the impression on the staff this summer, though, forcing them to rethink their stance a bit. But the limited number of available scholarships has not changed, so neither has their stance. There is some talk that Kirklin could be an academic concern, which would improve Robertson's chances of receiving an offer, but whose to say he would flip his commitment if an overture was made? The chances of Robertson signing with LSU is less than 50 percent at this point, but it is still a possibility.

LSU remains in the mix for several Texas standout prospects, but linebackersK'Lavon Chaisson and Levi Jones may be leaning towards Texas, according to a source.
It has become increasingly more difficult to get exclusive and up to date information from prospects these days, as they become more seasoned on how to conduct interviews without tipping their hands, making sources involved with these prospects that much more important.
The news coming out of the Lone Star State surrounding some of the Tigers' top targets is not good for LSU, as we near the back stretch of the recruiting cycle. 6-4, 230-pound linebacker prospect K'Lavon Chaisson has been linked to LSU for some time, with the Tigers establishing themselves as his leader at one point, but that may no longer be the case. The Texas Longhorns have emerged as his leader, according to a source, as LSU head coach Les Miles' future in Baton Rouge has become a useful tool for schools trying to negatively recruit against the Tigers.
The situation differs a bit for linebacker Levi Jones, who never really cited LSU as his leader at any point during his recruiting process, but like Chaisson, he too is leaning towards Texas, according to sources. Jones and Chaisson are two of LSU's biggest targets at the linebacker position, a position that remains a major need in this class.
Defensive tackle Marvin Wilson is also monitoring the Les Miles situation, and he too may be leaning towards Texas at the moment, according to a different source. Wilson is enamored with defensive line coach Ed Orgeron, and the Tigers are still very much in the mix, but it is apparent that they are struggling to hold onto the advantages they once had in the recruitment of the five-star prospect.
When Texas schools are winning, it becomes increasingly difficult to pull top prospects in the state. The Longhorns lost to California this weekend and it is not clear how that setback could affect the aforementioned prospects. If the Tigers finish strong this season, it will have a major effect on their recruiting efforts. If Les Miles remains on the hot seat or is relieved of his duties, it would be a major setback in their ability to close this class out.

Here’s a closer look at where things stand with the 10 highest-ranked Louisiana prospects on the 247Composite that remain uncommitted to a college program:
Devonta Smith - No. 2 in Louisiana - WR
The Crystal Ball: Alabama (100%)
The Skinny: Smith has mixed up his top teams a good bit this offseason, and LSU has been both in and out of the mix. The constants have remained Alabama and Miami, with the Hurricanes making a nice charge over the summer. Smith was once committed to Mark Richt while he was at Georgia, and the Amite native has had an affinity for the Hurricanes for some time. That being said, the Crystal Ball seems to be spot on with the Tide considered the heavy favorite.
Geaux247’s Take: LSU has three wide receivers committed for 2017, and they would love to add Smith to the fold. But for now, we see the state’s top receiver heading to Tuscaloosa for college.

Todd Harris - No. 3 in Louisiana - S
The Crystal Ball: LSU (100%)
The Skinny: Harris has kept things relatively quiet with his recruiting process, not often tipping his hand as to which way he’s leaning. LSU has been considered the frontrunner since the Plaquemine High star burst onto the recruiting scene, but his patience has brought offers from the likes of Ole Miss and Alabama. Most consider the Tigers, Rebels and the Tide the teams to beat moving into heart of the college football season. Official visits might be key here.
Geaux247’s Take: We will see how things play out given LSU has commitments from two top-five safeties in the country in JaCoby Stevens and Grant Delpit, but the Tigers are still trying to reel in Harris - which would give LSU arguably the best defensive backs class in the country. The Tide and Rebels are both worth watching, but we think LSU still might have a slight edge.

Christopher Allen - No. 4 in Louisiana - OLB
The Crystal Ball: LSU (92%)
The Skinny: Allen has attention from pretty much every school in the SEC, but he’s maintained that LSU and Alabama were his frontrunners, and both schools have landed Crystal Ball picks. The Baton Rouge native has already visited LSU for a game this season, and at least one visit to Tuscaloosa is expected before he makes his decision final. Things could seemingly still go either way for the state’s No. 4 prospect.
Geaux247’s Take: Allen had Alabama as his leader for most of the offseason, but he recently put LSU back alongside the Tide as firm co-leaders for his signature. Official visits to both schools are worth monitoring as family will play a big role in Allen’s decision, and LSU seemingly stealing back some momentum during the month before his senior season was key for the Tigers as Allen fits a position of need in the 2017 class.

Brad Stewart - No. 5 in Louisiana - CB/S
The Crystal Ball: LSU (46%)
The Skinny: Stewart finally landed an offer from LSU this summer, but he didn’t push the Tigers into his lead group and, in turn, the staff didn’t press him to turn things around. Stewart has his sights set on playing his college ball outside of Louisiana, and Florida is one SEC team that has made a big push - and landed plenty of Crystal Ball predictions because of it. Mississippi State is another SEC team that is making Stewart a big priority at defensive back in the 2017 class.
Geaux247’s Take: Unless Harris commits to LSU, the Tigers are likely done at defensive back in this year’s class. Expect Stewart to leave the state for college, and the Gators have made a splash that just might be big enough to reel in the New Orleans native.

Phidarian Mathis - No. 8 in Louisiana - DT/DE
The Crystal Ball: LSU (85%)
The Skinny: The Monroe native and Neville High standout defensive lineman is being recruited hard by a handful of colleges, including LSU and Alabama. Both schools have sent coaches to check out Mathis, and he made his way to both campuses for visits this offseason. Much like with Christopher Allen, the battle for Mathis is going to come down to the Tigers and Tide.
Geaux247’s Take: Mathis is likely going to wind up in Baton Rouge or Tuscaloosa come National Signing Day, it’s just a matter of which program turns up the heat the most between now and February. We have the Tigers winning out in the end, and the addition of Mathis would help if the Tigers miss on Marvin Wilson or another elite defensive lineman in the class.

Adrian Ealy - No. 10 in Louisiana - OT
The Crystal Ball: LSU (85%)
The Skinny: Ealy was considered an early lean to LSU, but the state’s top offensive lineman is likely going to be leaving the state for college, and he’s got plenty of offers on the table. Oklahoma just landed a visit from the East Ascension senior, and Miami and Mississippi State are other teams worth keeping an eye on. The Sooner appear to have some momentum at the moment.
Geaux247’s Take: LSU filled up on offensive linemen with Austin Deculus, Edward Ingram, Saahdiq Charles and Seth Stewart, and with numbers running tight, adding a fifth lineman might not be in the cards. Throughout his process, Miami and Oklahoma seemed to have made the two biggest impacts, though he plans to take all five official visits before making his decision.

Travis Etienne - No. 13 in Louisiana - RB
The Crystal Ball: Texas A&M (100%)
The Skinny: The state’s top running backs are Etienne and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Edwards-Helaire is on board with LSU as the lone commitment in the class. Etienne, who does not hold an offer from the Tigers, made his commitment to Texas A&M, but he later backed out on that pledge and reopened his recruitment process. That doesn’t mean the Aggies are completely out of it, or does a lack of an offer from LSU mean one won’t come down the line. Tennessee is another SEC program to keep an eye on.
Geaux247’s Take: Etienne’s chances of landing at LSU might hinge on where things stand with five-star Cam Akers. If Akers isn’t going to wind up in Baton Rouge, it won’t surprise anyone to see the Tigers move on Etienne to fill out the two-running back class.

Ethan Harvey - No. 16 in Louisiana - OG
The Crystal Ball: (no picks)
The Skinny: Harvey has picked up in-state offers from Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana-Lafayette and Nicholls, and Army and Colombia are among his out-of-state offers. A strong senior season will likely land Harvey more scholarships, and plenty of college recruiters will be at Evangel before now and National Signing Day.
Geaux247’s Take: LSU has filled up on the offensive line in the 2017 class, but Harvey will have options both in Louisiana and beyond. His recruitment will likely play out past his senior season.

Racey McMath - No. 20 in Louisiana - WR
The Crystal Ball: LSU (100%)
The Skinny: Edna Karr’s top receiver has the attention of the LSU staff and has an offer in hand, but does he want to be part of what would become a four-man receiver class for the Tigers? Area recruiter Jabbar Juluke, a former head coach at Karr, is pushing hard to reel in the New Orleans standout, but the Tigers have some competition. More than 15 schools have offered McMath a scholarship, and Mississippi State is another SEC West school that is in the mix. It could come down to the Bulldogs and the Tigers.
Geaux247’s Take: This could still go either way, but our gut tells us that somehow the Tigers are able to keep McMath in-state and at LSU. Expect him to make official visits before settling on a decision.

Al'dontre Davis - No. 23 in Louisiana - WR

The Crystal Ball: Ole Miss (75%)
The Skinny: Davis has kept things quiet with his recruitment, but Ole Miss grabbed some momentum when they turned up the heat on the Lutcher High standout last season. The Rebels have an offer on the table and lead the way on the 247Sports Crystal Ball, but Davis is still keeping his ears open to other schools in the conference. Texas A&M also started recruiting Davis more this offseason, and Mississippi State has remained in the mix since he emerged onto the recruiting scene. LSU showed early interest, and Davis is close with quarterback commitment Lowell Narcisse, but Davis currently has his sights set on leaving Louisiana for college.
Geaux247’s Take: Davis has a few months before he wants to make a decision, but the consensus feel seems to be that Ole Miss is going to be tough to beat.

Seriously tho man, wtf is wrong with this team twink? Coaching is all I can think of. Nfl caliber talent everywhere in the team.

It's coaching period. Most NFL talent comes from the school.
It's pure and simple.
He is a fucking reward. Period.

I'm not going to pretend to know more than I do on that end....

They sure drummed it up at the time. Some reported is was done erroneously....not that that surprises this day and age.

Agree its coaching. Smart move going early imo. Get new guy for recruiting. Cam Cameron and Mike Debord do not belong in the Sec calling plays imo.

Weird situation at Michigan with miles. He had big time support and big time non support. Political.

Yea I saw that. He shut down the process too.

Not sure this one is over just yet, but he was a big Miles guy. Who knows.

I know this....if it was Les or Dylan, then it's all to the good lol

<section class="body article" id="activeArticle" style="box-sizing: border-box; font-family: &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, Arial, sans-serif; padding: 20px; overflow: hidden; width: 678.857px; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 12px;">LSU makes their move in Amite
The LSU staff is trying to get their foot back into Tangipahoa Parish, and the charge is being led by head coach Ed Orgeron and recruiting coordinator Dameyune Craig. The area has turned out some great talent recently, from cornerback Shyheim Carter in last year’s class to wide receiver Devonta Smith in this year’s class.
Carter signed with Alabama in February, and the 247Sports Crystal Ball has the Tide out front to land Smith, the top prospect in Louisiana this cycle. And given Amite High is home to the No. 1 and No. 2 in-state prospects in the 2019 class, the LSU staff is trying to get in the mix early on for what will certainly become two heated recruiting battles.
On Tuesday, LSU extended an offer to Amite wide receiver Devonta Lee and Amite defensive lineman Ishmael Sopsher, who is the No. 1 defensive tackle prospect in the country and the No. 1 prospect in Louisiana. Lee is ranked as the No. 4 wide receiver prospect in the country and the No. 2 prospect in Louisiana. Both are ranked inside the Top 20 of the 247Composite.
Time will tell if the Tigers are able to reel in the Amite sophomores, but making the move now was a must. It’s also worth noting that LSU already has three commitments for the 2019 class in cornerbacks Maurice Hampton and Derek Stingley Jr. and offensive lineman Kardell Thomas. The Tigers currently have the No. 1 class in the SEC and the No. 2 class in the country.

Cain gets offer, sets visit
Speaking of the 2019 class, LSU is already in good shape with one of the best prospects in the country.
Four-star running back Noah Cain, who is ranked as the No. 1 running back in the country and No. 4 overall prospect in the 2019 class, is from Baton Rouge, and he’s now living in Denton, Texas. This week, he got word from the LSU staff that he had an offer from the Tigers, and he was “in tears”, as he told 247Sports national analyst Ryan Bartow shortly after hearing the news. Double-digit offers are now under his belt, and the teams to watch early on are LSU and Oklahoma (both schools have offered him a scholarship).
Cain was at the Florida State vs. Miami game this past weekend, and now he’s tentatively set to visit LSU on Nov. 5 for the Alabama game. He’s going to be one of their top targets from the crop of sophomores who now hold offers.

Baton Rouge born...
Cain isn’t the only Baton Rouge born prospect who moved to Texas, but still has caught the attention of LSU’s staff. 2018 defensive tackle Bobby Brown is a junior at Lamar High (Arlington, Texas) and he’s starting to really make some waves on the field. He’s put together some good film early on in his junior season, and he’s already logged four sacks. He’s ranked by 247Sports as a Top 30 defensive tackle and a Top 300 prospect. Texas schools have already offered (Texas, Texas A&M, Houston, Baylor), and so has Oklahoma.
What about LSU? If the Tigers offer, Brown said LSU would shoot way up his list. It’s the one big offer he said he’s still waiting on. Look for LSU to keep an eye on him this season, bring him in for Junior Day next February and takes things from there as they continue to build their big board for next year’s class.

Ausbon waiting things out
LSU wide receiver commit Jhamon Ausbon visited LSU for the Missouri game two weeks ago, then he was in College Station for his official visit to Texas A&M this past weekend, where he took in the home game against Tennessee.
There’s no doubt that LSU’s lone threat is Texas A&M as Ausbon has admitted that he would probably have landed in College Station had Dameyune Craig and LSU not turned up the heat after the satellite camp in Houston - which ultimately led to his commitment this summer. And while there has been some staff shakeup in Baton Rouge, Ausbon isn’t rushing to make a move until things are finalized on LSU’s end.
“It can only get better from here,” Ausbon told 247Sports this week. “I wouldn’t really have a guy that I prefer but more so the style of offense. I’d like to see pro concepts still but more spreading the ball out more. It’s a top five program so they’re not going to just bring in a nobody.
“This is a business decision for me. I’m doing what’s best for me. That’s why I want to wait for my last visit to LSU before I decide. I’m going to talk to the coaches about what’s going on. You don’t want to walk into a blind situation so I’ll talk to them and go from there. I’m mid-year so that will come into play.
"If I go to A&M or LSU, I’m still going to have to compete for my spot. I’m not settling for either one because both are great schools. I’m not worried about the coaches because they can leave you at any time. It could affect it but I’m not even sure yet.
“Business decision is more about what’s best for you in the long run and what’s really like who you are and what’s going to help you be the man you want to be. Heart is more emotional. It’s stuff that doesn’t really matter. It has to be a business decision. It can’t be emotional. Emotions are temporary.”

Future DB’s to watch
One glance down LSU’s commitment list and the reality that the Tigers aren’t hurting at defensive back sinks in.
For 2017, LSU has commitments from two of the top-ranked safeties in the country inGrant Delpit and JaCoby Stevens, and they also have four-star Kary Vincent Jr. on board at cornerback.
For 2018, the Tigers have a commitment from five-star cornerback Kelvin Joseph and four-star safety Nadab Joseph.
For 2019, a pair of Top 100 prospects are committed at cornerback in Maurice Hampton and Derek Stingley Jr.
The question for defensive backs coach Corey Raymond now becomes which direction he wants to turn to make the rich even richer.
Five-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr. has the Tigers as his leader, and he’s certainly going to be a take in the 2018 class whenever he wants on board. That would give the Tigers a pair of five-star cornerbacks, but they won’t stop there. Two names out of Houston that have the staff’s attention early on are cornerbacks Anthony Cook and Jalen Green, and both have high interest in LSU.
Another cornerback to keep an eye on in the Lone Star State: Verone McKinley III.
McKinley is a junior at Hebron High, the same school LSU safety Jamal Adamsgraduated from. McKinley has a close relationship with Adams, and of his 20-plus early offers, he’s got LSU on top.
“Definitely DBU,” McKinley said of LSU being his leader. “(Raymond) always has them playing well. I think they’ve only given up five touchdowns all year. I’ve watched their secondary and of course they are playing well. I know they had a coaching change. They are still playing great defense. It’s hard not to like LSU especially the DBs.”
When talking safeties for the 2018 class, a name to monitor moving forward is California’s Jaden Woodbey. He’s ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the country, and while it’s not often a prospect from California ends up in Baton Rouge for college, Woodbey has some early interest in the Tigers. Outside of USC, UCLA and Washington on the West Coast, two schools the five-star prospect has circled early on are LSU and Ohio State.
For the 2019 class, LSU will be in the mix for Brian Williams, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 safety in the country and No. 3 overall prospect in the class. His brother plays football at Arkansas, and he’s often there on visits to watch him play, so the Razorbacks will hold the early lead here. LSU offered Williams a scholarship last month, and the Bishop Dunne (Dallas) sophomore is expected to see the Tigers take on the Razorbacks in Fayetteville next month.

good article.....LSU NEEDS to get back in Tangiphoa. This is like Defcon level 10.....similar to LSU losing North LA a few years ago(they got it back)....but gotta fight Bama off BIG here. SO much talent coming these next few years.....
