2016 NBA Finals: Cavaliers - Warriors Discussion

Take a look at his point totals/FGA in game 2s after losing G1. I looked yesterday. If someone can post them that'd be helpful
I didn't go game by game but here's an average according to this article.
In those nine Game 2 victories, James averaged 29 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists, and the four Finals games he has won after losing the opener, he averaged 30.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists.

He's averaged almost 31 in the finals. It's under the 39.5 line, but that's where the +950 is so enticing.

Scott Foster is blowing up on social media.

Refs official Twitter page didn't even list the officials like they have for every playoff game because they know the replies they're gonna get.

Cavs can't run with the Dubs, they are not deep enough. Only way they win is to get grimy and that's how Scotty and T-Bruv ref.

Should be a dirty trenches game with many a questionable touch foul.

I'm glad social media is shining light on this BS. It's gone on now really ever since the Bulls dynasty ended.

Games like this you will see what kind of magician's these guys really are.... they'll call a 50/50 foul against Lebron who will freak out and run around so you think the Dubz are being favored... but then every loose ball foul, touch foul, out of bounds, will break 80/20 one way.

The funniest stat they ever put on the screen in nba games is the "foul trouble" graphic. As if fouling out is a major concern in modern nba.

Lost in all this is that the Cavs played pretty good D on Klay and Scurry, took a phenomenal night from the Dubs' bench to win.

Cavs ML is getting pounded.

Home team is 9-3 under Scotty this postseason, more scared of Brothers and his grimy ass foul calls.

You're props nbafan way better than mine. I got Lebron OVER 6.5 free throws at -135. That fucking sucks. Sorry ass book.

Golden State last 2 postseasons

25-6 in games w/out Scott Foster
4-4 in games Scott Foster refs (including OT win in Portland where Livingston got tossed)

19-1 at home sans Foster
0-2 at home with Foster

I had planned on playing the Cavs until I keep reading how Lue wants to push the pace and play faster which just plays right into the Warriors strengths so pass. They can't guard in the half court so if they run Cleveland is going to get lit up in transition.

Wow Dubz know how to play Lebron... put a good defender on him and get the help at the last second and rove away from shitty Tristan

only 3 out of 28 team have come back from down 0-2 in NBA Finals history

2006 Miami Heat, 1977 Portland Trailblazers, and 1969 Boston Celtics

Funny how the Thunder had the dubs on the brink of elimination and was a stressful series. This one has been stress free for them. No worry at all.

It's tough to back the Cavs in game 3, but I think a 1H play is in order. Curious to see what Coach Lue/Coach Lebron does with line ups, especially with Love likely out with concussion.

If I am the cavs HC, here is my move..
I am throwing this lineup out there n seeing what happens..
Start Irving, shumpert, Lebron, Tristan and mozgov
U grind the fuck from the start. Mozgov put up 3 dbl doubles in 6 finals games last yr. he is a tough match up for gst
Yes u will be asking Lebron n Irving to get to work, so what? That's what they are supposed to do.
Love will come off the bench n be able to be the man a bit.. And jr smith will have no pressure, just come in n gun.
Ur bench lineup/rotation can be delle, JR, Jefferson, love and Tristan, Mozgov or Lebron.

But u gotta be smart n be able to win at chess vs gst
Maybe with Mozgov at center it helps Thompson, Tristan can not play center all game. Start to own the glass..
U can go big from here, go small.. But u allow ur team to have some dudes coming off the bench that can score.

Article from a teammates player agent (probably Kyrie's or a load of shit, either way worth a read)...

Both in the public eye and behind-the-scenes, there’s generally a lot of noise about the inner-workings of each NBA team. But in Cleveland? These days it’s like sitting front row at a Metallica concert.

I have a client in Cleveland, and am continually struck by the unparalleled ebbs and flows that swirl around this group since LeBron James returned to the Cavaliers. It’s been a rocky road over the past two years that hasn’t exactly made for an easy work environment. And with the NBA Finals headed back to Cleveland and the Cavs two losses away from being swept, believe me when I say it’s going to be a long 72 hours for that group.

But first let’s rewind.

When LeBron came back to Cleveland two years ago, I got the impression that it caught everyone from day-to-day staffers to ownership off guard. With LeBron on the roster, the Cavs instantly went from being a club incapable of drawing a great deal of national interest to the most heavily scrutinized team in the NBA. And it didn’t feel like they had the processes and protocols in place to handle that attention.

You could see it right away. On media day last season, over 300 people showed up. From a security and logistics perspective, the team wasn’t prepared and small security issues persisted in the early part of the year. It may seem like a minor detail, but those things tend to be strong indications of how a club operates. Instead of anticipating what was to come, the Cavs played catch-up all year, and that included LeBron himself, who had to play his way into shape during the season.

It seemed like from the time he signed he wanted to take stock of the organization as a whole, to assess everyone else before opening himself up to anyone. While the entire team got together to work out in the offseason, LeBron would show up… but only work out by himself, with his own trainers, after the other players had finished. As you can imagine, it created a sense of separation that felt like it stuck throughout last season.

There’s been a tangible improvement in the way the team has operated this year, a trust between LeBron and the rest of the organization that wasn’t there last season. But there’s still tension.

The realities of being LeBron’s teammate change from day to day. In a lot of ways, he’s one of the best teammates my clients have ever had. His work ethic on a daily basis impresses me more than anything. He is committed to maximizing the time he has left playing basketball, and I’ve seen the impact that observing his hard work has on teammates. Plus, LeBron is an incredibly intelligent player who makes those around him better. And his teams win.

Yet for some reason, put a microphone in front of his face and he’ll continually make questionable choices. Some of the things he says publicly flatout perplex me, mainly because I believe he’s too smart not to understand the impact of his words to the players around him.

I do believe LeBron is fully committed to winning in Cleveland, but a teammate having to answer questions from reporters about why LeBron stopped following them on Twitter and how it made them feel is both truly annoying and a waste of everyone’s time. Worse, it can be damaging.

Because he’s not the most confrontational person—especially for a player of his stature—a lot of the things he says to the media are things he never says while sitting next to his teammates in the locker room or on buses and cross-country flights. His public criticisms, then, can blindside teammates.

An example of this I always come back to involves Cleveland’s former No. 3 pick, Dion Waiters. LeBron immediately zeroed in on Waiters upon his return. Before the start of the 2014-15 season, as most NBA teams do each September, all of the players under contract to the Cavs got together to work out—except Waiters. LeBron noticed this and instead of addressing it personally with Dion, he made a show of it every time he came into the gym.“Where’s Dion? Dion isn’t here? Anyone seen Dion today?” It became a running joke of sorts. Everyone around the team understood his point, but no one ever actually took action. Everyone also knew that Dion’s leash in Cleveland was going to be very short— anything less than a career year would make him expendable. Two months later, he was traded.

Yet things appeared to be getting better in Cleveland as the playoffs approached. After dropping Game 1 to the Warriors, I really thought that the Cavs would respond with a much better effort in Game 2. The guys inside the room did as well. The tension post-game was nearly palpable.

When the Cavs are at their best, the players do a great job of insulating themselves from the noise. I recall bringing up things in passing to my client during the regular season—“Hey, did you hear so and so was traded?”— and he truly had no clue what I was talking about. It felt like talking to someone living in a bubble. And it worked for them.

The attention that comes along with the Finals is so amplified it will be interesting to see if they can get back in that bubble. It may already be too late, but if they don’t, the tension around the team will be very hard to ignore.

missing Kobe yet?

Lebron tries to be manipulative through the media and it's gotten to be too much. Popovic or Belichick would hate his antics....

IMO he's a fool for trying to bring a championship to Cleveland. He's put himself in a very difficult spot.

Think it's safe to say that the light game 2's result casts on game 1 is rather damning of the Cavs future chances. The Cavs had to show for longer than just the 1Q in game 2 for the sake of their own psyches come game 3, even if they did end up losing.

Fun stat: LBJ is 1-4 SU in Finals games in Cleveland.

The team up 2-0 in the Finals is 9-18 SU in Game 3 all-time.

They could have opened the Cavs as a home dog but went with -1/-1.5

Doubt the league lets Cramps get swept.

I think Lebron has to play 48 minutes in this one. Maybe a couple minutes rest in the first half so around 46 minutes. If you're the greatest player on the planet you gotta will your team to victory. You're at home, plenty of rest, no excuses.

i'm probably wrong but there is so much separation between these two teams that i think a sweep is most likely, one team has better athletes, better defense, better offense, better team continuity, and better overall team spirit. the other team has lebron and he appears to be in some kind of funk that is hard to decipher

Series always start in Game 3, Dubs held court now it's the Cavs turn.

Hasn't been a Finals sweep since 2007 and I doubt there is one here, it's bad for business.

The playoffs have shown shit can turnaround quickly.

Will see how Game 3 plays out before calling it a sweep.

If I'm Lue, I'm playing zone defense, with TT and Mozgov down low and LBJ, Smith and Shumpert on the wings to try this line up. TT can go out if needed on a three point shooter and still have Mozgov cover the paint and if needed, LBJ can go down to the paint to replace TT.
On offense, this unit can really crush boards and have LBJ running the point, with Mozgov/TT setting picks and Shumpert and Smith on the lines for three pointer.

I bet a sweep at beginning of series at 9-1 but doubt it gets there, if GS can win tonight I will hedge game 4

If the Warriors win tonight why would you hedge? The cavs will lay down in game 4 IMO.... You made the sweep wager for a reason. Don't hedge.

Honestly my neighbor whom rarely bets put it in through me and I would be dammed if it hit and I was not along for the ride his last bet was any NFL team would go undefeated and we dam near won 20-1 with Carolina My gut tells me it goes 5 I will atleast hedge my initial investment I think

A zone defense against the best 3pt shooting team in the history of the league? Maybe that lineup would help Cleveland on the offensive end, but trying a zone against GS sounds like the worst idea they can come up with.
