Knicks move does make sense. Bargs was just in a bad situation last year as a 3rd option, spot up shooter. Knicks easily got the best player in the deal. For a team in salary cap hell and no assets, they picked up a youngish 20pp guy for nothing that can play off of Melo.

Prior to last season, he was a 17 per guy in the NBA.

Knicks also get out of Novaks contract for the 2016 season which allows them to go FA crazy again with nothing really hitting their cap.

Trade was a win win from both sides.

there's been mention about toronto going after bledsoe, anyone else hearing this?

According to ESPN NBA Insider Marc Stein, the Toronto Raptors have thrown their proverbial hat into the ring in an attempt to acquire guard Eric Bledsoe from theLos Angeles Clippers. However, thus far, they haven't mustered up a good enough offer to convince the Clips to part with him.
<offer style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: verdana, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px;">
"Sources told ESPN.com that talks between the Raptors and Clippers are still in the exploratory stage, but the Raptors' interest in L.A.'s prized young point guard is said to be significant," Stein wrote. "The Clippers, though, have been lukewarm on Toronto's pitches so far, sources say.

"The Raptors have been openly shopping out-of-favor forward Andrea Bargnani and have likewise pitched a trade scenario in which L.A. would receive both Bargnani and shooting guard DeMar DeRozan, but sources say new Clippers coach Doc Rivers -- who was also named senior vice president of basketball operations -- continues to express interest in not only hanging onto Bledsoe but also keeping center DeAndre Jordan.

"... So one possible outcome to the Clippers-Raptors talks, sources said, is a smaller trade headlined by Bargnani going to L.A. in exchange for Caron Butler, enabling the Clippers to save Bledsoe for a bigger trade -- or, perhaps, keeping him if Rivers holds firm."

These are two franchises heading in different directions; the Raps are essentially in their latest rebuilding phase, while the Clips are trying to construct a championship roster. There's really no reason for the Clips to move either Bledsoe or Jordan unless they receive pieces that will make them stronger contenders.</offer>

Oklahoma City has begun an aggressive pursuit of Philadelphia free-agent guard Dorell Wright, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Wright, 27, averaged 9.2 points in 72 games for the Sixers a season ago.
The Thunder are working to stay below the luxury tax threshold this season, searching for bargain contributors able to spread the floor and make shots. The return of Kevin Martin to the Thunder appears unlikely, unless the market for him dries up completely and he has to return at a far lower rate than he's trying to find, league sources said.

Sports.Copleland, 29, played his career overseas until making a successful leap to the NBA last season. Timberwolves, Bucks, Pelicans show interest in Chase Budinger
Despite missing most of the season with surgery to repair torn cartilage in his knee, Minnesota Timberwolves free-agent forward Chase Budinger is emerging as a significant target for several teams, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Chase Budinger missed most of last season with a knee injury. (USA Today Sports)The Timberwolves, Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans have made his signing a priority, and several teams have secondary interest, including Utah, Indiana and Memphis, front-office sources told Y! Sports.
The T'wolves and Pelicans need his shooting, and plan to be aggressive suitors for Budinger, league sources said. Milwaukee has wavered on re-signing guard J.J. Redick, sources said, and Budinger could be a less-expensive, but efficient, alternative.
Once the Indiana Pacers come to terms with free-agent forward David West, Budinger is expected to be a priority to bolster their bench, sources said.
Budinger, 25, played his first three NBA seasons with the Houston Rockets before being traded to the Timberwolves for the 2012-13 season. After suffering the knee injury six games into the season, Budinger rehabilitated the injury and returned to the T'wolves' lineup on March 21. He averaged 9.4 points in his shortened season.

Tiago Splitter to receive lucrative offer
San Antonio Spurs restricted free-agent center Tiago Splitter could command an offer sheet that averages $8.5 million to $9 million annually, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Portland Trail Blazers are expected to be a suitor for Splitter, league sources said. The Utah Jazzand Atlanta Hawks have salary-cap space, a need for a young center and general managers – Dennis Lindsey and Danny Ferry, respectively – who were Spurs front-office executives when Splitter came into the organization.
The Spurs will be in a strong position to match an offer sheet and keep Splitter, because they'll free of Stephen Jackson's $10 million salary and expect to re-sign Manu Ginobili at a lesser salary than the $14.1 million he made this season.
The baseline for a Splitter offer sheet will likely be the three-year, $25 million deal that Houston awarded center Omer Asik in free agency a year ago, sources told Y! Sports.

Bobcats hope to keep Gerald Henderson
The Charlotte Bobcats are motivated to re-sign guard Gerald Henderson and forward Josh McRoberts, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
After drafting forward Cody Zeller of Indiana with the fourth overall pick, Charlotte failed to offer Byron Mullens a qualifying offer, letting him become an unrestricted free agent. Several teams still believe the 24-year-old, 7-foot Mullens has a chance to develop into a solid NBA role player.

Tony Allen drawing interest from Grizzlies, Pacers, Bucks, KnicksAs the Memphis Grizzlies plan to make a pitch to free agent Tony Allen on Monday, the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks are part of a growing cast of suitors pushing to sign the All-Defensive guard, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Tony Allen has become one of Memphis' most popular players. (USA Today Sports)Allen, 31, a popular franchise player and integral part of the team's rise to prominence in the Western Conference, has been inclined to remain with Memphis for the right offer, sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Indiana wants to upgrade its bench and bring more toughness and playoff experience to its roster. The Pacers will focus first on the re-signing of free-agent forward David West.Indiana could potentially have its midlevel exception of $5 million available for Allen.
The Bucks have salary-cap space and are juggling multiple scenarios in free agency.
New York can offer its mini midlevel of $3 million and try to convince Allen that he can make up the difference in larger offers through marketing in the New York area.
Allen was named to the NBA's All-Defensive first team this past season and received more votes than any other player.

Mavs don't make qualifying offer to Darren Collison
Point guard Darren Collison became an unrestricted free agent Sunday when the Dallas Mavericksdeclined to make him a qualifying offer, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.
Collison averaged 12 points and 5.1 assists in 81 games during his lone season with the Mavericks.
With the move, Dallas cleared more financial room in its efforts to sign Los Angeles Lakers free agentcenter Dwight Howard.
Collison joins a deep pool of free-agent point guards that also includes the Los Angeles Clippers' Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups, Milwaukee's Brandon Jennings (restricted), Chicago's Nate Robinson, Atlanta's Jeff Teague (restricted), Detroit's Jose Calderon, Golden State's Jarrett Jack and Indiana's D.J. Augustin.

big fan of Buddinger - if Pacers can land him.. would be very helpful to that bench.. I know Granger is coming back and if they don't trade him could make for a deep bench.... don't know how much indiana has to spend.. he might just opt for the bigger dollars

Rumor floating around that warriors are going to offer klay, bogut, and an expiring contract for dwight

Jordan Schultz, a sports columnist for the Huffington Post, reports that the Spurs are in "serious negotiations with [the Suns] to acquire Marcin Gortat."

According to the report, which has yet to be confirmed, the deal would center around either a Tiago Splitter sign-and-trade, or a deal involving Boris Diaw and other pieces. It's an interesting proposition for both teams, but we'll reserve further judgment until the trade talks have been confirmed.

teams will do everything in their power to not let harden shoot FTs at the end of games... hmmm who do you foul

Hansbrough making demands?...elaborate please

Restricted FA Tyler Hansbrough wants to be a starter, according to Pacers writer Conrad Brunner, and "it doesn't appear his future is in Indiana."

It's important to note that the Pacers can match any offer for Hansbrough. He may not be satisfied coming off the bench behind David West, assuming West re-signs, but he also wouldn't be the first NBA player asked to swallow his ambition for the sake of his team (and millions of dollars).

Marc Stein@ESPNSteinLine<small class="time" style="font-size: 12px; color: rgb(187, 187, 187); position: relative; float: right; margin-top: 1px;">1m</small>
Pacers have agreed to rescind Tyler Hansbrough's qualifying offer, I'm told, which immediately makes him unrestricted free agent

Maybe, but you would have to gut your team to get him,

I still think houston is the best place for him right now if he wants to win right now

they already are trying to move david lee arent they?

houston is already in the process of retooling their team to get him, seems like a similar scenario. as is dallas.

I think that Lakers/ GSW/ Houston/ Hawks have very little chance to win the title, even if they sign Dwight with their current rosters.

Dwight and Harden are a great duo, but they still not better than Thunder (that won them without Westbrook), Memphis and probably even Clippers and Spurs.
GSW had amazing chemistry and that was worth a few wins - they played much better as a team than what each player worth and Dwight can mess it up.
Lakers just a mess with injured Kobe, declining Nash and all the amnesty talks.

Hawks have zero players on their roster (only Horford and Williams if I remember), so they got tons of cap space, but also losing mentality and Dwight will fit right in to that...

To be honest, I don't like Dwight, but still hope we can resign him, because if he walks, we will be in even worse situation this season, considering our cap space (though we will have tons of options the year after that).

Houston is in a better position than dallas..dallas has to convince him to.wait a year and then hope they can attract free agents in 2014..

Dallas and atlanta seem like real longshots
