CMU +8, 6 units; 3300-3000.. WIN

added:

2 more units CMU +7.5, -110; 1100-1000. WIN
CMU +3 2H, -105, 4 units; 2100-2000.. WIN

I'll get in here tommorow for some thoughts.. More than revenge.

Considering ML.:smiley_acbe: and will likely add to the ATS play.. Thinking it will move in my favor..

TD+ in a game like this is a gift IMO.

Im curious to hear why you feel this way...

Purdue snapped one off in their ass earlier in the year..

I respect your threads, thats why I cant wait to hear why you like this play so much...

A lot has been written on the Motor City Bowl Matchup.. Great stuff.. I'll give my brief impressions and reason for my big play:

  • Motivation- Purdue may or may not be motivated, however I doubt they are. CMU is very motivated- that is a fact. They are playing for something and have a lot of confidence.
  • Venue- Detroit, big advantage to CMU here. Close to sell out expected and 80% CMU backers. Huge CMU alumni base in Metro Detroit.
  • Revenge-- it is cliche-ish but beating a good team twice is very difficult. CMU is a good team, not great but good.
  • Team trend-- Purdue lost 5 of their last 7 with the only wins against Iowa and NW. CMU got better all year. Defense was much better in L2 and the freshman they had to use early in the year now have experience.
  • LeFevour- kid is special, very special. Has all the tools and is playing with a ton of confidence.
  • Talent? I keep hearing about Purdue's talent. Why does everyone believe it is far superior to CMU?.. Few questions: How much talent does it take to lose 5 out of your last 7 in a conference that is way down? Who is the most talented player on the field? (LeFevour) Which is the most talented offense the last 5 games? I'll admit CMU defense is not very talented but neither is Purdue's.. But on the overall scale I would say the talent is much closer than people think.
8 points is just too much to pass up fellas.. and the ML is value loaded

Thanks bro, I think the post above lays it out decently from my perspective.. I always look for angles in why a line is where it is at.. I find it interesting that the line opened at 4 in vegas went to 10 and settled on 8. Think that one through from a betting pattern standpoint.

Also, suppose CMU did not play Purdue earlier this year.. What would the line be? IMO it would be at the 4, which is where it should be now. Gold Sheet subscribers everywhere simply look at the previous game and assume this is a lock. But the fact is, the previous game actually gives CMU an advantage , not a disadvantage especially when you look at how each team finished the year..

There is a reason Purdue is playing in the Motor City bowl..

Just my thoughts bro.. Purdue could get hot and put up a big number on offense and if they do, they'll cover. Don't see it happening, and even if they do, I believe with a number like 8 and Lefevour at QB, the backdoor will always be open at the end...

CMU is absolutely geeked about playing this game. They will have the crowd, confidence, a bad memory and the best player on the field on their side.. The only thing Purdue has is a supposed talent edge..Maybe slight but not huge.

Remember a sign in a football locker room I once frequented that said. "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."

GL bro in whatever you play..

Want to see a true talent difference?-- look at LSU vs Ohio State. But that comes later:cheers:

Most talented player on the field? Dorien Bryant facing a weak ass CMU pass defense.

LOL.. OK, but I'll take the second most talented player on the field who touches the ball on every offensive play.;)

DB, 82 catches
but only 800 yards... How does that happen? :7_5_140:

HAHA i agree with you tee*dub... Sounds like the so called "best player" is just a possesion reciever!!!!!!!!!!!

Dan LeFevour:

Also Academic ALL American .. Pretty impressive dude.

I don't want to take nothing away from the kid, awsome numbers and best player in his conference but vs. BCS schools he is:

Kansas: 19/37-172yd-1td-9rush-26yd
Purdue: 35/56-364yd-2td-1int-10rush-26yd
Clemson: 20/34-204yd-2td-1int-5rush-31yd

I mean, granted he might have some nice passing #'s but all of those games were way out of hand and more or less those were garbage time tds and yds.

Danny boy aint going to run all over Purdue tonight

Damn, nearly 60% , 5td and only 2 INT vs BCS schools, may have to add units.;)

Garbage time, I know.. Kansas and Clemson would kill Purdue btw... GL, should be interesting at least.

talent...talent? talent only gets you so far in bowl season..Adrian Peterson and oklahoma were one of the most talented teams in last years bowls and Boise...a freakin wac school won outright..throw that shit out the window yo.

Loved your post. With so many going with Purdue I needed to hear from someone who reflects my thinking. You hit all the main points in your little summary. Best of luck tonight

Ya , I noticed at the other site there are a majority on Purdue but this site has quite few on CMU... Tells me something:tiphat: This is one of those games that Vegas loves.. IE - An obvious big conference favorite against a mid major school it has already trounced once.. Put it on TV on a night with nothing else happening. Hmm.

As the old saying goes-- I started winning at gambling when I started betting with Vegas instead of against them..:prayer

GL bro..

Interesting. 15 previous Bowl rematches of an in season opponent. 8 times revenge has been dealt

Have been considering the ML all day but am passing. Surprised it didn't move more my way. Now 8 units on the side. Opened a a bottle of Crown XR, settling in for what I think will be a very entertaining game..

No opinion on the total but have a small lean on the under. Both defenses have a lot of film and experience with each offense.. Could easily see a game at 28-24 either way..

Glad I came up with the same reasoning as you since you are smacking this one. With CMU games 1 through 4 simply dont count IMO. Young team finding its way facing some tough competition. There season began vs Northern Ill and the Clemson game was a terrible spot for them as Clemson had lost two straight and were blasted at home vs VaTech the previous week. You really cant take much from anything CMU did @ KU , @ Clemson , @ Purdue since they were a young mid major. How many teams are gonna look good early in the season there especially a young mid major. While Purdue probably peaked in week 4 and played its best game vs CMU. Who doesnt feel that CMU is as good as Minnesota , ND , Iowa who got blasted by WMU at home , Northwestern and so on...all the teams Purdue looked so so against past 2 months.

The biggest factor is comfort as CMU will be in there comfort zone having played at Ford Field and basically being at home. One thing with mid majors especially with the young ones you worry they could be overcome by the atmosphere at some of these big venues.....

Sportsnut-- I say this with sincere honesty-- this is a much better place with you around!! Stay in touch and around the forum when you can.. I just enjoy reading your posts and have for several years.

add:

CMU +3 2H, -105, 4 units; 2100-2000..

Still give myself a chance at +8 on the game also.. CMU gets ball 2H.. Key possesion for all bets... GL guys

I really didnt see much of the 1st H but what I saw was CMU struggling on offense. What an exciting 2nd H though....Congrats...

12 units to the good.. Congrats CMU backers!!!

Good start to my Bowl season..
