Netherlands sure looks to have a nice path to the semis...

Think that Mexico game will be a tricky one for them. I've been pretty impressed with the Mexicans this tournament.

The way Belgium is playing, I 100% feel confident Team USA can play.

The biggest issue is how bad Bradley has been playing, he's hurt us more then I thought possible.

Other Plays:

I can certainly see Chile beating Brazil, unlikely but Chile has been impressive.

If Messi doesn't score, can Argentina win? It's a serious question at this point.

Germany and France seem like auto wins to me.

Netherlands will have their way with Mexico

I agree that Belgium doesn't seem as great as first advertised, but they have only given up 1 goal so far and it was a penalty.

Already pounded Colombia -.25 and to advance........and Costa Rica PK and to advance. Love them both.

Chile +1
Mexico plus the half
Colombia minus the half
Costa +150
Swiss +1
USA +420
not touching France (but I want to), but if you put a gun to my head I'm laying the 99

(clover)

one thing that people have to note is that in group play some teams will look rather jaded because they are actually in a group that suits them.
I'm not totally licking Netherlands ass since they were in a group that was against has beens, incompetent defenders as well as a team that is notorious for leaking goals.

I think there are a few teams that have played a variety of opposition in their groups and has done well are Colombia, Argentina and Germany.
Colombians have played against anti-football, physicality and pace. the one thing they haven't really faced is against skilled teams.
Argentina have played against physicality, heavy defending, and skill, they've created the pace and dictated the tempo so very hard to see any other team do that against them until the latter stages.
Germany have faced disciplined, physical, direct teams although have to say the Portuguese were the most disappointing team in the entire world cup...well along side Spain.

Teams that I think people will overreact:
Netherlands and France, both have quality both teams look good but both were in a real shitter of a group. The price on Mexico looks pretty fine and dandy that stadium is going to be really really loud as both the Dutch and Mexican fans travel very well.
France have had the most schedule friendly World Cup, the other 3 teams in their group sort of killed it each other.

Looking at the records given, Brasil and Chile have played each other 37 times. Chile has only won 3 of those games and never won any matches played in Brasil. Chile won't beat Brasil simply because their styles work well into Brasil's hand, attack them and be ready to open up.

Mentioned before the US are very fortunate to have the right schedule, they are now facing a mediocre Belgium team that is extremely beatable. A lot of skilled teams HATE playing against well organized/disciplined teams and that's what the US has. USNT ain't the most skilled team infact they are probably one of the most meh teams in terms of skill but they play very very united and pick up slack on other teammates. I think the Belgians have a shit load of egos brewing and this has been a problem as we've seen with some teams in the WC.

I'd like to hear CKR thoughts on CR vs Greece, the Greeks are such fuckers, they do this every tourney, lucky assholes. Such bullshit football but they some how get through. I really don't know how the Ticos are going to handle anti fooball. If the Greeks go up 1-0 early man that is 11 man behind the ball and wait for counter

Colombia probably has the most ideal price for a favourite, I may bite on Mexico as I think this game has a high potential to go into Extras. Argies will have fun, Gerries will play patiently and control tempo, France should win because they do have the physical presence to handle the Nigerian bodies.

I don't think everyone is licking Dutch ass and I don't think they've made it through beating has beens. Holland plays a system that is going to give anyone fits. It uses the 5/3 in the back the best of any team in tournament. The 3 teams using the 3 back system have been the biggest tactical mismatches.

Holland will gut Mexico. Should be wide open and fun to watch but I don't expect much of a game. Mexico played one team, Brazil, with dynamic attackers and it was destroyed and should/could have been 3 or 4 down in that match. No way that back line handles Holland on the counter.

CR/Greece has a chance to go Pk's but i'm liking a 2-0 Tico's win. Greece will sit in but they won't be able to defend the width of the attack coming at them. I'm not sure how the Swiss shut down Messi but i think they do. I like the Swiss here. If someone other than Messi finally steps up and does something that will be a different story but I don't see it happening.

All we hear now is how the USA got the matchup they needed and Belgium isn't playing well. Belgium was pre-tourney fav for a reason. They don't give up goals but are having some trouble scoring. That can all change this round. If USA can stay organized and avoid the blunders in back they usually do they have a shot. Problem USA are having this tourney so far is they are playing without a CM and have zero creativity. Bradley has a been an utter disaster. JK is a good motivator and that explains the consistent sucking of his cock, but after this tourney a new CM gets broken in. Hopefully Beasley and Johnson are let loose as I think thats when we are at our best. This cup is wide open so anything can happen here. I'll be on USA.

The other side of bracket is less interesting to me. I think Brazil will handle Chile with relative ease. Should be an awesome environment but Chile won't handle the attack just like they couldn't handle the Dutch. I fucking hate Uruguay. Such scumbags. France and Germany should advance with ease as well. Nigeria looks to unorganized defending counters and the French do it well. And Germany is Germany. Gonna be a blood bath physical contest. I see lots of cards for Algeria and possibly a red or two. Word will be out for FIFA to protect the Germans here.

Hopefully this round has as much drama as the groups. Great cup so far.

a $10 parlay bet right now on Chile, Columbia, Netherlands, Costa Rica, Germany, France, Argentina and USA to WIN pays over 9K

Price on "Chili" a bit outrageous now at +1 (-110). I'd expect that to be plus money by tomorrow. Let's be honest, is Brasil really the clear cut #1 team right now?

Big story in COL/URU is how URU responds to "Dracula's" suspension. He's really the heart of that team, and I think it's a loss they won't be able to overcome. Columbia is in great form heading into the Sweet 16. In fact, they may be in the best form of any team right now. I'd feel better laying pk, but the -.5 could be ripe for a wager.

NED/MEX are probably my 2 favorite teams playing right now. This one is strictly about NED attack vs. MEX D. I actually like Mex D in that battle. +.5 looks tempting, but I'd prefer getting that -110 or Even before placing a wager. Something tells me I won't be betting this one, and instead rooting for NED.

Really so how is it that the Aussies were able to some how get 2? and a blunder by the keeper gave the Dutch a 3-2 win? Come on dude lets face it as good as the Dutch are on paper they faced 3 other teams that were mediocre. The 5-1 was blown out of proportion vs Spain team that was just clueless even a team such as Brasil would of problem demolished them. All I'm saying is that people will overreact, as you said it's all about tactics, fair enough but if they played against another team that actually has some tactical advantage they wouldn't be running the show. If the Dutch were playing in the same group as the Gerries that would be a different setting. Infact the Dutch would find it quite hard playing the US simply because they do not fare well against organized squads. Lets face it the Dutch are now the best team to have never won a world cup, is this the year they break the duck? Not with the defence they have, France, Germany, Brasil, Argentina and even Colombia have squads that can beat them.
You can't expect this Dutch team to stick with the same tactics against the above squads and have success, they will have to adjust and if they are lets say playing any of those teams being a goal down, they are going to open up big time and will get exposed.

How the hell did Greece advance? Who knows. The worst offensive team in the Sweet 16 has no chance against a Costa Rica squad who surprised many in the opening round. Though CR is certainly for real. They are a balanced squad with a versatile attack that should be able to break Greece for a goal. Greece aint scoring Sunday, period. They should not be here, and that will be proven. Pk looks nice, but the -140 vig doesn't. I'll wait and hope some twats snatch up Greece at plus money.

Another case of overreaction, how do we know if CR is for real and that the rest of the group just sucked dick? Seriously? All those teams CR played attacked them and Ticos beat them on opening the field up. They also closed down their opposition very well and caused a lot of errors on the oppositions. The Greeks don't play anywhere close to Uruguay and England but MAYBE Italy. End of the day the Greeks have been notorious for being Anti Football for many years and hey it's worked, just absorb attacks. Right now it seems we are thinking CR's attack is world class but it isn't. The reality is that Jorge Pinto just tactically out matched the other teams, they are on a roll and their only losses in recent memory are against their CONCACAF WC qualifiers, USA, Mexico and Honduras. If CR were actually superior to the Greeks they'd be sitting closer to 2.00 -0.5 but they aren't -0.25/0 is suggesting that the Greeks will be satisfied going into extra time where they will use their conditioning to tire out the Ticos. The Greeks have been playing as underdogs all tourney so it's hard to imagine the roles reverse but the Ticos being favs now vs a team that just sits around and does jack shit, I'm not biting.

Also pretty sure Nigeria has just as bad as an offence has Greece?
We should be expecting more from Belgium due to their squad list but so far it hasn't clicked, would Benteke have made a difference?
No Falcao no problem, would Colombia be even better than they are with Falcao in?
So far if we look at who's scored most have been attacking midfielders, seems gone are the days of the target man

I feel the Aussies got 2 against Netherlands because of an amazing goal by Cahill, 40 yard pass and a shot off the volley, and a bad penalty call.

What do you see a 0-0 draw?

Some stats

2010 WC
Favs of -110 or more won in regulation
5 of the 8 games saw o2.5
2 games went to ET

2006 WC
The favs who were around +110 to +130 region did not advance
2 games were o2.5
The heavy favs of -150 and more won

based on trends, France, Germany, Argentina, Brasil would qualify
the the Dutch/Mexico and CR/Greece game would have a good chance of the underdog hitting.

What do you see a 0-0 draw?

probably similar to Russia/Algeria game, only way this score gets run up is if a team opens up.
Greeks are like that team in CBB where they use up the entire shot clock!
I don't see the Ticos scoring more than 2 goals on the Greeks, if they can go up 1-0 they would probably just play keep away.

this is true but the Dutch are notorious for playing down to the level of their oppositions. So thus they cannot afford to slack off against a Mexican team that has been persistent

Thats how I see it. CR attack is good enough to get a goal and if they do, they win. Greece offence is a lost cause.

We know an awful penalty or non handball call in the box will decide at least 1 of these games....just have to hope that isn't one I'm on.

Was there a more impressive team in Round 1 than Costa Rica? Maybe the frogs....

Colombia most impressive team to me round 1 and they should throttle a Uruguay team that's out of sorts without Suarez. Sucks that they would have to play Brazil in the quarters, who they can beat, maybe should beat, but the whole Brazilian soil thing and FIFA may play a hand in that. Hope not.

If you like Costa Rica I would wager them to win in regulation, not to advance. This Greek team is shit imo but if they go to extra time I would not want to be against them, so a CR pk laying the juice for protection or -.5 would be the only way I'd play it, not laying juice for them to advance.

USA line is like me against Kershaw in the backyard. I thought you guys said we got a shot?

I was thinking more like I'd be +420 but more realistically, +4420.

BEL was a popular darkhorse entering the "Big Dance." They're young and their nerves have shown early in the tourny, but they've progressively gotten better and more comfortable. They are quick on the attack..a poor man's Germany, if you will. I think US will struggle to keep up, assuming the pitch is dry. USA certainly has a "shot," but this may be their toughest test yet. They were a bit lucky to come out of the GER game 1-0. I believe that was a result of a slow pitch which slowed the game down.

You'd have to be smoking some good Nigerian herb to think their offence can hold serve with France. One of the bigger mismatches of the round of 16 imo. France's speed and aggressive attack should give the Nigerians nightmares. The -1 should at least push, but this could be one of those 3-1, 3-0 type games.

Algeria is one of the darlings of this field...a gritty group with an underrated defense. Their effort against Russia is to be commended. I'm not sold on GER...they've had an easy draw and haven't looked very impressive at it. Sure, Muller is amazing and had a great performance against PORT. But their attack could be stymied just enough to allow ALG to cover the ridiculous price of 1.5 goals.

Switzerland is the futbol version of Jekyll and Hyde. Which team shows up this round is anyone's guess. Argentina is a legit contender to win this tourny. Don't let their performance against Iran fool you. Iran's D was top notch in every match they played. This game probably isn't bettable, again, because of the uncertainty of this Swiss team.

+420 in regulation, but +170 to advance seems weird to me, the disparity ... standard stuff? Mystery time chances are worth that much?

Now in knockouts Tip, if it's tied at the end of mystery time, they play 30 more minutes (plus additional mystery). If still tied, they go to a shootout. Someone's gotta advance.

Well, I gleaned someone has to advance from distant, foggy memories of past World Cups, and the phrase "knockout round" helped that understanding, but it still seems like a lot to this ugly American. +420 they won't be ahead after 90 minutes, but only +170 they advance. I guess that's because all bets are off when it goes to a shootout, or more aptly, guessing goalie time.

ha i've been labeling this the same.

I really like URU and want to be playing teams like them getting +0.5 or ideally +1. I think the Suarez loss is going to be overblown, Cavani can fill in pretty well, and the COL respect is due to being a good offense in a group filled with shitty teams. Think we could see this going to extra time, which would be a winner at +0.5 even though I'd be more likely to take the plus-money on +0.25

where do you guys see it moving? I need help with this portion, though I think there will be plenty of love for COL out there

G
That CR win over Urguay was no joke. Colombians along side Argies were the only South American teams that did ok on the road during qualifiers. Uruguay still very shit away from home grounds. Uruguayan D is terrible, the attack is good but the forwards don't run back to defend so the older Urguayan D is going to be running a lot

Way too much talk ( not on here) , but on sports radio about Belgium not being a daunting opponent. Little scary to me. They aren't Germany, but they've got more class at pretty much every position , even goalkeeper. Hard game to find an angle to bet, seems like a 1-0 type game , but under is juiced to an unplayable level .

I'm probabaly going be on Greece at pk, +1/2. I've been wrong about Costa Rica every game , but I just don't see them being able to break down Greece here. All of cr goals came off counters( I think). I don't see then getting many counter chances here. I also don't think Greece has looked as bad as everyone is saying

Germany may be that team that is just starting to get into the groove, unfortunate that France and Germany will most likely meet in the finals
