Super Bowl Discussion Rams vs Pats @Atlanta Stadium

As I mentioned, my belief is the offense always has the advantage (not just football, not just surface) because they know where the ball is going. Turf just speeds the game up and while it obviously does for both, there's a reason indoor teams notoriously score more. It's why I threw that dome record up for this season, while it's size may be deemed inconsequential, it at least shows what this year's versions of these teams did.

I think a part of that has to be the surface benifits speed tho and dome teams build that way, obviously building ur team that way will lead to more points regardless of surface imo. Rams have some quick pass rushers that I think the surface definitely benifits and don’t really think much of pats offense gets a boast playing on a faster track.

Doesn’t mean it won’t go over. Any freaking game can turn into pinball these days. All I’ve done so far is a rams/under 6 point tease and just playing numbers more than what I really think, taking either team up over a td and the total higher seemed like no-brainer to me.

Okay. I clearly used the wrong term in “luck”. I should’ve known better on a gambling site. Let’s call it “fortunate” or “catching some breaks”.

Patriots caught a break on an interception when Ford made a mistake.

Either team could have been fortunate on the Edelman punt. Patriots caught the break that the ball bounced just weird enough that it appears somehow didn’t touch him in 3-4 spots.

Roughing the passer. Bad calls happen. Patriots caught the break.

Fortunate to win coin flip. 5 of the last 6 drives were TDs, other was a FG. Each team wanted the ball and the defenses weren’t doing much either way. 52% might be the average, but I don’t believe it applied to that game with those offenses.

I clearly wanted KC to win. Made a biased comment about luck. My bad. It just seems like Patriots somehow routinely catch some weird breaks. Intangibles on their side. Moving on to the super bowl (which they’ll probably win)

Not to beat a dead horse here but Im watching the replay of the game on NFLN sober right now. That same play where Jones got flagged for the phantom roughing Tom call there couldve easily been a PI called on Ward who was all over Edelman. Two plays later Berry was holding Gronk the whole way down the field. Its just very convenient for people to remember the breaks the Pats get. Had they lost nobody would be talking about that roughing call.

GL on your plays going forward man.

Not sure I agree that Pats have the better D. Yes they have looked good in the playoffs but that was due to the chargers being nitwits and KC scoring 31 doesn’t exactly impress me.Granted I did like their game plans but I can’t help but feel that the Rams are going to put up a good effort. If the O line holds up it will be a long day for the Rams but I’ve watched plenty of Pats games this year where they sucked. All that said I believe composure is going to be a contributor here. Rams untested under big time pressure and probably should have lost to an inferior Saints unit. Should be a great chess match and don’t forget Bellycheck gets too involved in these games and out thinks himself at times. All three super bowl losses were on Bill imho and he could of lost two others but Brady saved his ass. I hope Brady has full control to audible when he wants too. Pretty heavy lean to Pats here but something is telling me it may not be easy.

If I understand correctly, Sammy says that the league needs a Rams win because of the new stadium, but he put a LARGE wager (and his log-in here) on the Pats money line? Can someone explain this please?

They didn’t need a rams win.

In the era of advertising dollars and cash it’s about marketing. Nfl just wants a marquee matchup.

Kc vs Saints is not a marquee.

Boston vs Losangeles makes many many more millions for the league

Hmm. MLB was Boston vs la dodgers.

Boston Celtics vs lakers is still a legendary series. Bird vs magic.
Boston vs losangeles is the best matchup.

Biggest markets etc

I thought sammy was consistent about this (shocker). He said that teams with new stadiums get to the super bowl and lose there. He showed a historical precedent for this. New stadium makes tons for the league so super bowl trip is a gift in return

Sammy is the best....he supports his arguments with solid points....and he cracks me up.....and I hope he's right

There are going to be a lot of people in America betting on the Rams because they hate the Pats....probable error

There will not be a lot of people in America betting on the Rams that's so fucking hilarious...I don't know how to respond. How many people do you know betting on the Rams?

This post has to go down as a classic Pats fan post, this is what happens when fandom meets lack of knowledge. Ends up wiff missing teeff

I want to hear from the Pats fan that is betting on the Rams, that might actually be constructive

He contradicts himself literally all the time.

That‘s absurd. Everybody is on the Pats.

I love sammy, as redic as some the things he says tends to be quite often we end up coming to same conclusion. Doesn’t really matter how you get there I suppose, long as you get to right play! Lol.

I realize there tons of pats hate around the world but don’t think we seeing a whole lot of them betting the rams. Most the ppl that been betting against pats out of spite have been burnt so much while I think they be rooting for rams seems most have given up actually putting their money up out of spite! Lol.,

I actually like pats mostly cause they get hated on so much, I always had a hard time liking Peyton teams and brees teams cause they universally loved. Nice I can be on pats a lot cause of so much hate!! Lol.

All that said I think I might end up on rams here, thus far all I got a rams +8.5/under 63 teaser but hoping i can get a +3 (even if I gotta buy half or whole point), my thinking is at +3 I’m almost getting a free roll for rams to win cause I just don’t see them losing by more than a fg. I was also considering taking both teams to win by 1-6 as I think one of those cash at nice plus money..

For me it has nothing to do w hate (I’ve bet on and against pats prob 50/50 in SBs). I recall winning against them early on w eagles and panthers cause spreads were well over a fg, lost w atl cause the ot td, won with pats thanks to Seattle making most boneheaded call of all time!! Lost on pats last year. For me this is all about me feeling rams can hold Brady between 20-26, like my chances of it being close if that actually happens.

Bill does at times screw up. Out thinks himself.

Pats defenses in the super bowl are actually terrible. But Bill isn’t even calling his defense to make stops. Bill is very clever.

He will give you certain looks and allow easy completions and then change the defense and take those looks away. Then Brady goes to work on offense and they win.

Knowing Tommy like I do I can guarantee you that this game will define his legacy.
Goff is playing with casino money. To him it doesent matter. He is not hungry for a win. Gurley is a backup now and has Georgia mentality to disappear in big games.

I know this game will be close. But I also know that Bill willl out coach Mcvay. Mcvay is in over his head. The desperate fake punts etc.

Brady to Edelmen is what I know. Jerry Rice knows this. However on this forum except for a few ppl everyone is asleep and unaware of how dominant and good Edelmen is.
Ppl don’t even have him in their top 5 despite the fact being that he is the most dominant receiver in this league. I’m glad Jerry Rice said it.

Edelmen cannot be covered. He crushed the Steelers few years ago in Afc championship game.

He single handedky dominated the Seahawks super bowl in that game with clutch catches and Tds. Seahawks were afraid of Edelmen. He punched them in the face and the cocky tough Seahawks couldn’t punch back. He was like a wild bear in that game. In that game of alphas it was Edelmen who was the top alpha dog.

He ripped the falcons heart out in that Super Bowls.

He pummeled the chargers this year.

He dominated the chiefs like no one else could.

If Gronk shows up even at 73% Gronk they will not lose.

Michel and White are eight million times better than overrated Gurley. Gurley is a typical runner up. I look At him and I see a runner up. Goff also.

Edelmen and White also are absolutely savages.

I’m taking the savages over the soft rams. They will panic. Mcvay is emotional. Stupid fake punts.

Edelmen. The new Jerry Rice.

Lmaof. Antonio brown Beckham Julio Michael Thomas sorry guys you aren’t in Edelmens league

Brady legacy has been cemented long long ago. Outcome of this game means next to nothing for 12s legacy. He could go and lose 3 more SBs and he still will be the goat long past our lifetimes!!!

“Goff not hungry for a win” or even implying it means less to him than 12 is possibly one the most rediculous things you have ever said! Gurley was obviously hurt at end of the year, dunno if he fully recovered but his legs looked just fine in the last game, his hands didn’t but that prob more mental. Agai redic to assume that was any more than rust and that he somehow a choker cause he played for uga..

Mcvay isn’t over his head vs any coach including hoody who is clearly the greatest of all time, I got news for you, Mcvay is the next hoody with only difference is offense being his cup of tea instead of defense. Being the next best coach he smart enough to hand his defense over to wade Phillips who one of the best DCs of this era and also a guy who has had several great showings vs 12 offenses!!!

Edelman is not indefensible in any sense of the word. He is difficult to cover and his chemistry w 12 makes it that much tougher but if you get hands on him and make it difficult for him within the 1st 5 yards you can have success. I’d love to see his numbers when he went up against those wade Donks defenses!! Of course he gonna crush the Steelers cause they are stupid and play zone, you can’t stop Edelman/Brady playing zone.

“Rams are soft”? You base that on what? They the most physical rushing team outside the pats. Their oline and dline are anything but soft. You damn sure wouldn’t call talib soft to his face!!

I’ll give you white gonna be a problem for rams lbs but you not gonna beat the rams throwing 10 passes to white, they let kumara catch a bunch of balls too and they held saints to a respectable number.

It redic to call gurley soft or to imply pats backs are better than him. He the best back in the league when healthy and it not even close.

Talib has proven he can take way better version of gronk away.,

Those 15 play drives not gonna happen over and over vs this rams defense, they will get pressure on those 3rd and longs. On the fast track those pass rushers will be a factor, not even 12 gets ball out in 2 seconds on 3rd and long. Chiefs were soft and gave him all day in those spots. Rams will not.

Again I ain’t saying rams will win but they ain’t no pushovers and despite the bs narrative they don’t deserve to be here they were in fact the best team in football the majority of the season.

If pats win it will be because they hold rams to 24 or less and even then it be very close. There no defensive personnel or coach that matches up better vs pats than the rams and it not even close. I have no clue what the plan will be but considering rams defensive weakness is the backers I would send at least one crashing the A gap which will cause pats excellent oline problems cause it would prevent them from being able to double Donald. I have no doubt Rams will do what the weak afc teams wernt able to and get pressure up the middle.

Less juice on my rams +8.5 under 63 tease than pats ml. I love that play.

And the SB will get basically the same ratings regardless if it's Jacksonville and Tampa or New England and New York. It's the event, it's not the game. Who even buys into ratings for this?

LOSeRS

Can’t believe anyone thinks the matchup matters to SB ratings! Sure maybe it makes the 2 weeks of talk more interesting depending on matchup but far as the game you spot on, makes no difference who playing everyone in the world be tuned in like always.

Bank....good posts and excellent points....totally agree on the tease but the turf, offenses, rams zone and receiver ref protection will probably keep me away from a total but that tease makes the most sense to me....donalds and suh may get pressure up the middle and if they do it will make the game very tough for the Pats to win...talib will be interesting match for Gronk...if man I'll take gronk....he's too big...you are correct about edelman, hit him hard within the 5 yard limit and he isn't nearly as effective

KJ....you're right, that was dumb on my part to think people would bet against a team they hate....much more likely to bet on a team they are a fan of

I doubt the NFL did anything to influence who got into the bowl but I suspect that a Boston/LA final made them happier than say a Jax/Minnesota final would or even a KC/NO but who knows....probably they like a competitive game that goes to the wire as much as anything

My mom watches, enough said.

So just to be clear

Edelman is the most dominant receiver in the league
Gurley is a backup
Goff is playing with casino money, doesnt care about wins or losses
This game will define Bradys legacy, the 5 super bowls before it are crap
Also LA is a better draw, a town that doesnt sell out, where the rams are maybe the 6th most popular team, than one of the faces of the league drew brees

Teeed crushing it with the summary. Sammy you should go into business selling picks after the games are played...there’s a market out there for this kind of genius.

Def tough to play unders these days. Hell it could easily go over the teased total way this shit goes. My feeling is the way these 2 match up and how both offenses generally go about things it prob plays in the 20s more often than 30s, nothing more really. Whether that happens is this particular meeting who knows, lol.

Certainly not trying to say rams dline just gonna be living in 12s space or anything, im sure there be plenty of times he drops back and either gets it out quick or has plenty of time. I do believe they will cause him way more discomfort overall than either those afc squads did (has he been knocked down yet these playoffs? Once maybe?).

I feel like most my post been pro rams but in all honesty I don’t love them. I absolutely think their d will do a much better job than the other teams have vs pats but not sure that means they win. Pats defense has done a great job both playoff games in the 1st half in particular. No reason BB can’t confuse Goff and rams offense same as they stifled chargers and kc early on. One thing for sure Mcvay better be figuring out a answer for those total sell out blitzes pats been coming at every offense with these playoffs, neither of their afc opponents had any answers for those early on. No defense gonna hold up vs pats if their offense can’t at least pick up a couple 1st downs to give them a breather.

My biggest concern with the Rams defense is their lack of size in the front seven. I like their secondary and the DLine is obviously very talented but a couple of those LBs are just glorified safties. Both Barron and Littleton are barely 225 and they're playing on the inside. How are those guys going to hold up when McDaniels dials up a 22 personnel formation with TE Allen and FB Devlin in there with Gronk? Suh and Donald at their best are up the field types, not really gap control guys. Brockers is more of a stay at home guy who should help against the Pats power run game. IMO the Rams defense is constructed to be fast from sideline to sideline but not particularly stout. The Pats OL is big and fast and athletic and if they start blocking downhill early and often I'm not sure the Rams can stop the running game.

This all day

GW get a Bovada account. They've been at 3 since last week. All the talk I hear on VSIN is that Vegas books won't move to 3 until late this week because they will do the bulk of their bookings Fri-Sun & know they will get slammed with Rams $$ at 3.

i don't think i fit the bovada business model, will get limited real quick

BOL and 5D haven't gotten close to 3, i know that

O/U at 56.5---If like the Over does it go any lower you think? Or higher as we get close to Fri/Sat?

most public game of the year with better offenses than defenses and the refs who gift 45 yards on certain plays, i'd expect it to climb as every game not involving terrible offenses does

Curious what the Bovada cutoff point is. I've only know very square types to have an account there (in person, not you Zeke...you went face to face with a bear ffs) and those were $20 type players, always knew who they were on to the point I quit asking

I don't disagree KJ. It is a square book. Nobody who tried to do this for a living or with high stakes would put up with their BS lines, shit juice or website outages at crunch time. I'm purely recreational so the fact that they make deposits & withdrawals simple is what keeps me coming back.

I hear about Vegas books honoring bad lines that get bet all the time. Pisses me off cause the few times I've placed wagers on bad lines they always reject them a couple hours later when they pull their heads out of their asses. I see their side of it but check your work before posting lines.

Yep not like line-shopping Scott Sharp style you don't notice it...but I always figured that would be pretty easy to detect and our relationship wouldn't be long lasting anyway. I understand the business model, it makes sense to shade the lines that way just pretty sure someone is monitoring the action heavily when it's placed on the other side. Not like I'm an offshore guy anyway any more but I do kinda like watching their lines.

Brady is so freaking overrated. How is the tuck rule his doing? Matt Ryan taking a sack to get out of field goal position? Russ throwing at the one? The roughing the passer vs the Chiefs keeping that drive a lot. Sooo much of „his“ winning legacy is gifted

No, you're looking at all of the things out of Brady's control to blame him.

Wrong line of thinking.

He is the greatest because when all of those idiotic calls/opponent mistakes happened to open up an opportunity .... TB12 took advantage almost every time.

Not reasonable to blame 12 for being lucky when he had nothing to do with any of the dipshit occurences that happened. He just controlled what he could ... those gifted opportunities and took full advantage.

Nobody hates the Patriots like I do, but it's unreasonable to blame Brady for doing his job , and doing it at the highest level, when Dee Ford lines up in the neutral zone to nullify a Chiefs Super Bowl appearance.

He does get a lot of luck. More than usual you would have to conclude--

I believe Brady's heaven QUI is very high- Heaven Qui is the luck you are born with- Your attributes- Looks height smarts intelligence resiliency-

Think about it-- Brady is like 6'5 handsome- model wife- rich- GOAT- gets lucky breaks as you pointed out---

Hes obviously been set up for success by the GODS above- He got the best of everything even without football--

He has been given every good characteristic- patience- competitiveness, resilience- smarts- leader- aggressive--

Heaven QUI is real--

I joined Bovada, its brutal. Like amateur hour. They did payout timely though. I first started betting online with Bubba's Casino then Parlaybook.com. Those were the days and seemed less square.

But my last deposit at 5D was met with credit card fraud on the card I deposited from. So there's that and why I tried it out.
