However, with United now moving straight into the group stage having qualified via the Europa League, their far superior coefficient of 93,315 sees them in Pot 2 with no space for Spurs.

I believe Spurs may have been in Pot 3 with either result - and they were Pot 3 this year....certainly makes it a harder journey though.

The very curious thing is the thought that teams will take Europa much more seriously now as they go straight to group stage. It's certainly an easier journey for a team like Everton for instance. Historically, mid table teams in particular English sides have not necessarily thrown out stronger sides (especially on the road) as they have focused more on the league. I had more to say on this, but lost my train of thought. Sucks getting old.
