how easy do the rockies look ?

what? Why? explain please, I would be curious to hear why the Rockies look easy.

An interesting stat, they scored 4 runs last night and all 4 were solo homers. Danks has allowed 6 homers in 13 games (74.2 IP).

They still lost the game btw. De La Rosa a complete gas can. Now Uribe is back, gave them some push last night...

so anyways, why Rockies?

Actually I'm going to stay away from that crappy matchup.

De La Rosa suprised me just too many times when he was pitching in AL...

Checked on Gabbard and Morton. Gabbard in his 2 minor starts since being sent down has been very ---unlucky. Morton is coming off a poor start but in general and especially on the road has actually been very good. Rangers over 9-1 last 10 on the road vs right handers.. Just a million angles pointing to under in the Angle game but a over ump it seems though with a good strike percentage. Should be noted the 1 game vs a rightie that went under on the road was after a win and the game before the Oakland series. Problem could be if Pedro steps it up pitching at home as compared to his fairly pitiful numbers so far on the road but do like those directions. Wind out to center at Anaheim is listed at Covers as 3-9 under. Anaheim under at home on Saturday is 5-0 this season and 7 straight. One of those games would push on 9.
Observaion on Jason. He has been unlucky on the road on Saturday and has been picked to start vs the WS next start. Think this might be a mail in but Cubs as a good team with a pen that plays well in the day are still a threat to win late. Maybe Toronto first 5 would be lucky.

yep, also he does have some success at US Cellular field.

btw, your Halos cost us last night. Do they do the job tonight?:smiley_acbe:

The Tigers will call up Eddie Bonine to start in place of Dontrelle Willis against the Dodgers. It'll be the major league debut for the 27-year-old Bonine, who was 9-2 with a 4.48 ERA, 82 H and 46/14 K/BB in 74 1/3 IP for Triple-A Toledo. He doesn't have the stuff to last as a major leaguer starter, but the Tigers can hope it takes the league a few weeks to figure him out.

Like yesterday, Good spot for the A's. Harden on the mound. Which is a big plus.

Giants have dropped the last five meetings at AT&T Park.

Oakland (36-31) has won six of its last seven games against San Francisco, posting a 1.83 ERA in that span.

The Giants have scored just one run in their last 30 innings against the Athletics—all at home—after a 5-1 loss on Friday.

San Francisco has lost 10 of its last 12 at home, where it is a major league-worst 13-20.

Cain, Well, He’s 0-5 with a 5.26 ERA in his last six outings against the AL. Last three starts vs the A's, 0-3 with a 4.82 ERA.

CINNCI -132 Volquez has been the Reds ace all year, an absolute rock & having Scott behind the plate shouldn't hurt because the home team is 12-2 in games he has called this year.

OVER 9 minn/milw : 2 starters that are potential gas cans with Gibson behind the plate should mean crooked #'s on the board for both teams.

OAKLAND -120 : Harden should have his way with the SF line up & Diaz likes to call a quick game. A's get the win 3-0 or 4-1

OVER 9.5(buy it down) colo/cws : With West calling the game these 2 starters will get very frustrated & be forced to throw it down the middle, so watch for the balls to be flying high & deep.

UNDER 9.5 pitt/balt : Both starters have been good recently & Cedarstrom will give them the help they need to keep this one low scoring.

Just started to dig into the card . Late night meant late wakeup .

Anyway missed the GS over 139 which was based on weather conditions and 1st 5 inn over @ Toronto . Expect those to hit since I am about 15-1 in plays I hit submit on and got denied by 10 seconds this week. No sweat its over so moving on.

Went with Over 8 @ Toronto based on the line doesnt make sense . As well as Jays -1.5 RL +110 because I expect offense as both teams score 5 runs pre in the day. However Halladay has been very good in day starts as Marquis has but Chi lineup is missing a few SP and Fuki and Edmonds were I believe the only LHB which give Halladay the most trouble. Cubs again put up 3 or less vs a RHSP away and the teams combined for 25 baserunners but 5 runs..Jays just swing better in the day much better ....pens getting some work lately and werent as sharp as the 0 runs indicate yesterday .

Be Back to get into the rest ......Good Luck all !!

Edit : For future reference Cubbies 7-12 away vs RHSP scoring 3 runs or less in 14 of them (double check that quick though).

why do you think that line doesnt make sense? do you think it should be 7.5? i like balty again today and possibly the angels.

although duke has seriously fucked me two str8 times. just horrible burning of parlays and shit. i can't do it.

HMMMM why the laughter at the thought that the rockies could win today ??
I was not being sarcastic.

the white sox are currently batting .227 versus left handed pitching.

it is certainly fair to point out the colorado hit and homer total last night but the white sox had just 6 hits and two of those were homers.... again against a lefty

Now it can certainly be pointed out that all the recent leftes chicago has faced are superior to De La Rosa but look how this white sox team has performed vs lefties recently......

Francis 6 innings 4 hits 4 er W
Rogers 8 innings 4 hits 1 er L
robertson 6.1 innings pitched 8 hits 3 er L
perkins 5.1 innings pitchers 5 hits 3 er W

i believe prior to that they rocked the twins Hernandez W and were shut out by kazmir L.

danks is pretty solid but he is also coming off one of his lesser performances of the year and he does struggle with control at times.

just no way i would want to lay -185 on a team that hits lefties the way this team has all year and in the last couple of weeks. And how could one play the RL when they can't generate runs ?

white sox sport a lot of rhb as well and de la rosa has actually , surprisingly , been better against righties as they bat just .267 off him.

rockies bat .270 vs lefties.
rockies are 6-4 over last ten games , white sox 7-3 last ten games.

why is it funny to think the rockies can win ?? and more importantly why is it funny to think they cant win this enough times at +170 to turn a profit ??

i bet on colorado yesterday only to be sadly disappointed. de la rosa sucks so fuckin bad and danks was just in the top 5 american league era. colorado is a horrible road team and they somehow find a way to lose games and the sox are a great home team. i would say do not bet it or take sox. but do what you do kyle.

i thought the rockies offense were at full power, but holliday looked just terrible in every at bat last night, as did a few other guys.

Wakefield has looked good his last three outings sox deserve a look at +120
Fuck Henderson no home comming for him

Agreed Wake has been very sharp his past few outings . I actually like when SP are doing well on good teams ( on a short term basis 2-3-4 starts) and not being rewarded with wins. Think he is just 1-2 in those 3 starts . I know he won last time out and lost 1-0 to Bedard before that unsure of the previous but w/o checking thought it was a well pitched Loss. ( checked the good start albeit loss @ Balt)

Guess Manny is out though . Still look at Cincy L4 at home vs RHSP Boggs , Looper , Piniero and Masterson produced very little offense( pretty weak SP matchups considering 2 guys making 1st away starts of career , one guy off the DL and Looper was struggling badly of late) . Going back further L10 games they are 177 vs RHP. Actually just 18 hits past 4 home games which 4.5 per game !! . Which we know is crazy with Bruce , Jr , Dunn and Votto ...but it is what it is . Reds scare me though with those HR swings vs a knuckler could be easy pickens for Wake or some of those Hrs that dont come down ever . Dunn could probably hit one 550 if he gets a hold of it or look like he is playing wiffle ball . So could also work in his advantage.

Wake away excellent 3 times , very solid 3 times and terrible twice. Basically either very good or very bad .

Volzquez has been filthy were home or in the day . Only issue is innings pitched . Just 2 starts where he went 7 innings past 8 times out all others 6 innings. Basically avg 6.1 innings home or day and well when he comes out of the game even if the PEN is doing well its a sigh of relief and a dropoff , huge dropoff.

Looks like an easy under but again thinking about an over here . Manny out certainly not a plus but Volzquez is death on RH with the power fastball / slider and Manny despite being a great curveball hitter probably wouldnt fare well vs Volzquez if Edison was ON. Put a LH like Brandon Moss in there and there actually is a better chance at bat to atbat he gets a hit . Look at it like this 33 hits and 3 hrs vs 19 hits and 0 Hrs for RHB. So some holes minus Ortiz , Manny (who could probably pinch hit) and Varitek. As BC pointed out Cash very good for overs this year .

Home plate ump trends big time towards HOME teams so might look at +1.5 RL as I think innings 7 to 9 could be a nice huge plus for Boston with the pens. Also take Volzquez vs Cle . Nice start 6 inn 4 h 2 er 4bb 5 K 111 pitches. He had to work that day it wasnt as easy as 6 innings 2 runs just 4 hits . Cle lineup is not as deep as Boston even with Manny and Ortiz missing as they are mainly RH sticks ......

Waitimg for lineups and still thinking about this...Was the fact Volzquez finally allowed 3 runs in a start the first sign of "trouble" . By trouble mean the end to his amazing run of excellent starts....not trouble in a broader sense just some humanity involved his pitching cause its almost inhuman to be so consistent for so long ...:shake:

I guess the answer is last 20 on the road Colorado is 4-16 and in those game Francis won 1 and Cook won 3. Del La Rosa last 20 on the road is 5-15 and only 1 of those games was at night. In that game he went 5 innings which would probably not be enough with the Colorado pen. It is not based on Danks who is easily beaten but on real weakness in Colorado and their starting pitcher in night games.

Right. There is definitely reasons why Colorado is a dog here ... they should be. But situationally , this has to be better than a vast majority of matchups that de la rosa had over said 20 game away span. In addition, Colorado was really banged up for a good portion of their last 20 away. playing some of their best baseball of the year right now as a team.

Do i expect them to win ? of course not. but i will take my chances at this number , and i think to a positive EV.

The other side can't be a play. Of course most of you know how i feel about huge baseball favorites anyway.

Huge line move on Cinci. May have to go with the sawx for 1

Eaton 1-4 and I like to against teams that lay ridiculous whoopings the night before so the cards for 1 as well

Funny I knew you werent being sarcastic . Go backs to the belief you just dont think WSox can hit LHP. Which goes back to my point of the WSox changed there lineup from almost all LHB to now almost all RHB which in the long run will make them better vs LHP . Like they were for a good stretch when Dye and Konerko first came to Chi and think they were they top offense in 05 and 06 vs LH anyway.....

Cant argue with a .227 avg avs LHP (.244 vs LHSP) but still they managed a 12-9 record . So YES good pitching has been very helpful to there success but still when it boils down to it I rather have 7 RHB facing a LH in a close game . Eventually the percentages should win out and hopefully it comes at a key moment.

However I think its pretty simple to understand . WSox didnt hit for 2 months and faced a ton of LHSP in that span most of who also happened to be pitching well . There was a reason why Ozzie Guillen went off on his team wasnt there ? Wasnt it because his lineup wasnt hitting a lick. Truth is though until it changes why argue it will change . I am man enough to say that . Right now there are still minimal strides made offensively vs LHP. Yesterday was just the 2nd time in 7 home games since they started hitting they faced a LHSP and Francis was real good 1st time around the lineup but struggled the thereafter . He went 9 up and 9 down . Then Cabrera HRed to leadoff b4th. Then in the 5th Anderson Hred as well . In the 6th he walked the leadoff guy but AJ hit a DP then walked Quentin so he avoided a big inning but also not sure why AJ hit 2nd with Alexei Ramirez out .

Some of the biggest culprits are players with huge track records vs LHP though . So it SHOULD change at sometime but why guess ? Its actually insane when you look at the numbers :

Crede : 5-48 .104 0 Hr 1 Rbi
05&06 : 73-266 .274 14Hr 147 RBI(excluded 07 because he played hurt)

Swisher :11-53 .208 1Hr 2 Rbi
06&07 : 85-296 .291 14Hr 48 Rbi

Konerko: 13-61 .213 2Hr 9 Rbi
06&07 : 107 -347 .308 26Hrs 63 Rbi

Dye: 14-57 .246 0Hr 4 RBI
06&07 : 96-302 .318 23 Hr 57 Rbi

Cabrera :17-63 .270 1 Hr 4 Rbi ( 1st HR yesterday)
06&07: 82-302 .272 5Hr 35 Rbi

Outside of Cabrera who can be inconsistent vs RHP .308 and .243 past 2 years all these hitters have crushed LHP in wide samples. I mean 300 abs is a half a season so thay are proven hitters vs LHP and all RH so we know they see the ball better .

The other 4 hitters in 2008 are AJ and Thome both LH with decent career splits vs LH although Thome was really bad last year or so but I think the fact WSox batted so many LH made it easier for the SP. Why ? Few tough atbats to RH to wear down the SP but also once they find a good rythymn or arm slot vs a LH they can just keep using it batter after batter if they see 4 ,5,6 LH out of 9 guys. They can keep with the same sequences ..

To which this year the fact the core RHs are struggling vs LHP is in turn causing the rest of the lineup to struggle vs LHP. You need the good hitters to wear the LHP out whether by wroking counts , working walks or hitting at a high clip . All contribute to a SP having to work harder to accomplish the same thing ...3 outs every inning. Something that I feel gets LOST in understanding team SLUMPS . Which is why slumps are contagious as are streaks. Easy to see the domino effect IMO.

The other two hitters are Quentin who came into the year as a youngster who struggled vs LHP already and he has made minor strides but clearly the potential is huge once he becomes more comfortable . The other was BLACK HOLE Jose Uribe . Seriously this guy was in an amazing SLUMP before he was benched . Ramirez moved into the lineup and almost simutaneously they start hitting along with getting Swisher out of the leadoff spot. Nothing like have your 9 hitter below 200 , your leadoff hitter at 200 and your 3 and 5 hitters at 200. Gee wonder why they slumped . Anyway Ramirez huge plus for this team . When Toby Hall catches he has done a nice job at .417 vs LH.

I think they have made some strides vs LHSP of late . Granted its an opinion. Francis they never saw before and he went 9 up and 9 down to 2 solo Hrs and one other hit plus 2 walks in the next 3 innings so they were improving and Ramirez didnt even play . Kenny Rogers they didnt hit but the Gambler is one of the HOTTEST SP in baseball right now going back about 4 starts . So it wasnt much of a suprise . Then Robertson they let off the hook to many times. 6.1 inn 8 hits 3 runs and 2 bb isnt a sign of struggling as much as it is not a good job of hitting with MOB and in RISP. Perkins they had 5.1 inn 5 hits 3 runs and 3 bbs again nothing bad about that .

Previous to that at home besides them struggling on offense they also faced Saunders , Laffey and Sabathia who at the time were 3 of the hottest SP in the game as well. All in all they are 6-3 at home vs LHSP(not counting when Willis started an dlasted 2 batters). They lost 3-1 to Saunders , 2-1 to Greg Smith and 5-1 to Burres.....

So at the moment WSox still need to do more . Danks has been so-so for awhile now and DeLaRosa who knows what to expect and Col pen blew that one yesterday . DeLaRosa did win @ Chi last year 7-1 while in KC . However look at what Chi was sending out at times vs LHP which is why they were so bad......

Chi. White Sox

So cant disagree WSox havent done much vs LHP to date but I feel its because they havent done much at all on offense until the past week . Interesting to seehow DeLaRosa handles the tougher lineup.

For reference I played Col ML , COL +1.5 RL and Under 9 +105 yesterday basically washing out but was close as COL lead 4-2. So I understand the fact CHI isnt hitting LH but feel its about to turn in the next few weeks but again just a guess based on prior track records and the fact they are almost all RHB......

Probably pass on COL here or go 1st 5 inning ML as DeLaRosa unlikely to go deep and COL pen well not as good as Chicago's plus Cook on deck tmrw and Contreras had his 1st rough outing a while.....

Probably play over 10 runs . Hell they had 9 on about 10 hits yesterday ...:shake: Good Luck VK....

Braves GM Frank Wren confirmed that Charlie Morton will likely be called up to start on Sunday night. With the Braves' rotation continuing to crumble, he could end up sticking for a while. He's 4-2 with a 2.05 ERA at Triple-A Richmond this season, limiting opposing hitters to a .181 batting average while striking out 72 in 79 innings

why do you think that line doesnt make sense? do you think it should be 7.5? i like balty again today and possibly the angels.

Sorry Jim...Yes I did . Played the Under yesterday at 8 with Burnett and Gallagher saw this as a pretty big upgrade over those 2 SP so 7.5 with under vig IMO here seemed correct and then Chi rested some bats as well...8 to me seemed to high ...of course it was 6-0 after 5 innings so that would have cashed ...definite mistake not trying Cubs ML along with Tor -1.5 RL...rather then just the -1.5 ...I knew Roy was due for a LOSS here Cubbies lineup changed my mind..need some late help though take an 8 push ...

Back to Wakefield ...6 days rest here ...pitching on 7th ...

This season on greater rest :
vs Det
vs Toronto
vs Milw
@ Oakland

His last 3 starts all excellent came every 5th day so this is gonna be interesting . He seems to fluctuate greatly year to year pitching every 5th day or or longer performance wise . In 2006 it was awful but amazing the difference bewteen the two..

Back to DeLaRosa past 2 years absolutely awful at night and while limited stats to look at the performance in day games is drastically better .

Not much to weigh but 4-13 at Night 99runs 94 earned in 115.2 innings ...

So looking over 10 and maybe Chi -1.5 RL ...cant hope this changes when he is gonna face a ton of RHBs....

Still deciding on my 3:55 stuff....

Good stuff...got caught zoned out watching the end of the Tor game . Take the push but sucks to lose a 1 unit when I had that total pretty well nailed and was the better / bigger of the plays. Bases loaded no out get 1 run on a 2 out walk ...Jays slumping again for certain after today...

Played :

Over 4.5 @ CIncy 1st 5 innings (then smaller on the game over )
Boston +1.5 RL ( then small shot on the ML )

Cards ML ( then lesser on them @ +1.5 RL...shits and giigles play 1st 5 under ) Bounce back not really as much as Eaton struggles in day games and is the anti-Kendrick meaning Phills find ways to win for Kyle and seem to do the opposite for Eaton. Lohse at home as well ...Myers on deck tmrw vs Boggs as well...

Over 9.5 @ Det basically using the consecutive shutout theory . Aided by Penny struggles in day starts and the ML debut . Despite weak day stats for both offenses..real weak

LAD ML (lesser play 1st ML) fading DET in a day game with a rookie SP . They made Lowe real cheap and he was pitching well so cant exactly agree with this kid being favored ...Penny doesnt warrant it or does LAD but Det mini streak some smoke and mirrors?

GL

Tough one ...LAD scores 3-1 top 4th but allow 6 in the bottom of the inning . get 1st and 2nd 1 out 3-1 count to Loney a LH vs the RH and he hits into a DP with a great hiiters count as well as Martin and Either to follow......probably seals the deal for DET unless LAD can somehow flip the momentum....

dodgers are garbage... no question. det scored on a wild pitch, a throwing error and a gapper that rolled 5 mph... it's over...

any thoughts on tampa? lefty killers there..

Hendrickson terrible on normal rest in 07 and 08 and Garza im TB has been exceptional past 3 times out . His last 2 starts although not good arent as bad as I thought they were and you wonder how the confrontation plays out . Crawford OUT for TB . Sort of dismissed his 1st two home starts as he went on the DL after the 1st one and the 2nd one was his return from the DL.

Want to play some sort of TB-under correlation or the under seperately maybe 1st 5 or game ..Some interesting undertrends athome for TB and vs LHP 15-5 under . Longoria and Upton still trying to improve vs LHP. Seem to need to string together hits and walks to score with this lineup.....

Lean Rays (maybe -1.5 RL ) and Under 5 1st 5 innings (somewhat 9.5 as well)

Hendrickson hasnt given many good efforts on normal rest last year and a half. he does have some history being a Ray and pitching well there as an oppponent . As the Rays in the middle could be weak offensively if Upton and Longoria's trends hold up but do like Aybar and Gomes in the middle of the order . Big issue is does Graza bounce back here . He has been so good at home and the pen for TB has followed suit while FLA's is struggling some of late .

Just leans for now:cheers:

Berroa is terrible why did LAD acquire him ? I rarely say players are terrible but in that ball park Angel Berroa is a terrible fit and yet they keep playing him everyday . I know Nomar is supposed to play SS when he returns but black hole...of course they get 3 cheap runs in b5th and martin doubles then Either Hrs to start the 6th. Such a missed opportunity by LAD in the t5th and they made it worse in the b6th. Gotta pray the DET pen implodes I guess....

Played 1 unit on the 1st 5 Under @ TB so far ....not sure if I do anything besides a small TB-under parlay .. not interested in laying TB ML ...I guess I am buying into Garza here and thinking 5-2 game...

Almost impossible to find a reason to play anything But White Sox here ...

We saw DeLa Rosa 's Night stats above. We know about his poor track record away.

Col vs LHP away :
W2-1 vs Kershaw with Cook
L9-10 vs Lilly with Cook
L5-20 vs Moyer with DeLaRosa
L4-8 vs Unit
L2-3 vs Sanchez vs Jiminez
W3-2 vs Wandy with Cook
L0-6 vs Wolf

Danks is best pitching on normal rest but his last outing was one of his worse . However the Twins are a team he has seen a bunch in his short career think third time in 08 and 3 times in early 07. CoL hasnt seen him.

Hate Ramirez out of the lineup...

Not sure what to do ....

Milw missing way to many bats IMO along with just not hitting LHP of late . Twins have the better lineup here . Suppan allowed 9 runs @ Minny last year and is the type guy I prefer vs NL teams remember how he busted for Boston few seasons back.

Thinking about Minnesota ...

Also while its impossible for me to play COL , at -180 with a lineup I am not happy with and the possibility Danks could hita few bumps in teh near future I dont want to touch Chi here as I played COL yesterday and they pissed that game away....actually probably worth a shot here on the under if these guys can go 6 innings...its gonna take 11 runs to lose and COL hasnt done much of late ..

The death watch is on and I think Texas can at least split the next two and take poor Willie out of his misery...Trot Nixon?

2 units on Tejas

The early morning arrival didn't seem to affect the Yanks. Let's see if it catched up with them tonight. Mussina is do for a clunker as well.

2 units on the Stros

I think it kinda did though . Chacon has been terrible they did nothing on offense ...I pretty much went heavy on the under game and 1st 5 inn Under ...took Hou +1.5 RL...

Moose is a good matchup for Hous because they are sluggers and if he misses they will land far and well again his issue is still getting up and in vs RHB and well we know about the Yanks track record away vs LHP....

Sort of leaning to Texas but going back to the series price it seemed to spell out NYM wins this series . So they should themselves get at least one more from this series and do have Maine tmrw....-230 series pprice for a bunch og 150 and 160 games was high...

Mr.Marybury torn on the Pitt total to be honest dont like paytons absence and see the value of Houston ML but havent really looked at the others yet ...BOL bro

sn what u think about the under in AZ? eddings behind the dish with what seems to be potential cannon fodder pitching on the kc side..

hey sportsnut ... they gonna fit the mets game in tonight ?

Yes VK they should . Very , very HUMID here so we are getting the corresponding thunderstorms but should be okay . I am 45 minutes to an hour from Shea and it stopped running a good 2 hours ago here so guess its moving slowly . Just heard some more thunder ...just humidity and hasnt rained here for awhile and only maybe 30 minutes...might be a night of delays though since the thunder just started up again here but no sign of rain...
