Ray Rice new video

@RyanChell87: Wow. Harvey Levin from @TMZ says they have evidence that the NFL knew about the Ray Rice video. Your move, @nflcommish.

Wow crawdads, that is a pretty long list of people riding their moral high horses. Unless it can be shown where everyone said the same thing back on February 16th, they have no credibility.

I say thank God for people like Donald Sterling and Ray Rice, so the rest of us can feel good about how superior we are.

Perfect!!!

Everyone saw the first vid where she was knocked out on the floor, and Ray acting nonchalantly - what was everyone expecting with the new video, just the punch?
I have been thinking same thing all day....

does anyone kinda feel bad for him at all. i mean he wasnt a repeat offender and this country was built on second chances like Big Ben rape shit Ray lewis murder and these guys go on to be great and people kinda forget ... i know if i was arrested for doing something stupid and was a first offender i would hope the judge would say hey we know ya fucked up since this is ur first time

there's no video proof of ben or ray. and they were acquitted of any charges

Wonder if how this affects Goodell... wouldn't be surprised if he is forced to step down....

anyone see any odds posted on this yet...... If TMZ in fact has proof that the NFL knew about the video long ago, he has to be gone...

i see women make this same mistake all the time, they know they are in a horrible relationship but yet cant GTFO. never have understood that.

pretty easy to sit back and call out the logic of victims, but it's a little harder to put yourself in their shoes.

[h=2]Why do victims stay in or return to abusive relationships?[/h]"This is one of the most frequently asked questions about domestic violence, and the answer is complicated. The National Network to End Domestic Violence responds to this question best: “Why does the abuser choose to abuse?” The short answer for victims is the power of fear. Fear of being injured or killed keeps many women in abusive relationships, and their concerns are legitimate. The risk of death or injury to a victim is greatest when leaving an abusive relationship or shortly thereafter. NNEDV reports that “on average, three women die at the hands of a current or former intimate partner every day." Other reasons victims stay in abusive relationships are related to economic dependence, children, a sense of isolation, shame, past failures of the system to respond, and religious and/or societal pressures.

Moreover, batterers work hard to ensure that their victims stay. Abusers can place the blame for the violence on the victim so that many victims believe that if they caused the incidents, they can stop them as well. Remember, many victims want the abuse to end – not the relationship. And if an abuser is promising to change, and the victim loves the abuser, then it is hard to walk away."

elbutre,
that's what I first thought about the $$$
but what about a person like Rihanna at the time when she got destroyed by Chris Brown?!

I feel bad for him and I hope he does get a second chance next year. Apparently the legal system is willing to give him a second chance since he'll be in some sort of counseling/ARD type program, the NFL should do the same. Hell, they just wrote their new assault suspension rules to allow for a 2nd chance, the switch now to an indefinite suspension is arbitrary and capricious.

I feel bad for her too of course. I just can't shake the decision to proceed with a marriage after that, it boggles the mind. Its one thing to be in a relationship from which you feel you can't escape, its quite another to be in a suddenly high profile relationship which you decide to elevate to the next level. There's simply no way a women in that position doesn't have "outs".

It would be comical if it weren't for the fact that this is exactly the type of thing ESPN wants him to do. As long as he doesn't turn the turret towards the Four-Letter network itself they'll eat this shit up.

what about her? pretty sure she left the dude. my only point is that there's other factors at play. i don't understand it either, that's why i try and read about it and what not. it's not like these women want to get knocked out, or if they do, there's some serious emotional and mental things going on. it's not as simple as just calling the women who stick with their abusers dumb, or stupid, or whatever. there's other stuff going on here.

I'm confused. What does the video change? We all knew he knocked her out in the elevator. This is just the video of it.

Seriously, what does the video change?

It obviously changed nothing other than giving Goodell and the Ravens an opportunity to look like good guys to the masses. Complete bullshit.

Janay speaks out:

Janay Rice, the wife of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, posted a statement on Instagram.
<SECTION id=mediacontentrelatedstory class="yom-mod " data-ylk="mid:mediacontentrelatedstory;mpos:1;elm:hdln;elmt:ct;cat:Related Stories;rspns:nav;t1:a3;t2:lst-ct;itc:0;sec:lst-ct;">[h=2]In it, she talks about the "horrible nightmare" that Monday and Tuesday have been and how she feels like Rice's release from the Ravens and NFL suspension have left her as if she's "mourning the death of a friend."[/h]

Here's the full statement (her Instagram profile is private, but the Baltimore Sun has confirmed that the statement was intended to be made public):
"I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I'm mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it's reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don't you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you've succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!"
Clearly, Palmer is in her husband's corner, doesn't want to relive the February assault and believes that the media and NFL have handled Rice's case poorly. She's facing the reality that Rice's football career is likely over at this point.
She's also assuming that people are trying to "hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away" in light of watching the extended portion of the video.
But she finishes her message with love for Ravens fans.

Good thing I purchased my wife a Rice jersey 2 years ago.
Every time a popular player is sent packing from an NFL team in disgrace, the team usually offers a refund of the player's jersey to fans. The Ravens will continue that trend with Ray Rice.
On Tuesday, the team announced fans could exchange their Rice jerseys at team stores, though precise details will be released at a later date.
Before the assault incident on his wife, Rice was one of the most popular athletes in Baltimore. It stands to reason there are lots of Ravens fans with Rice jerseys out there.

^^^ Ray Rice jerseys will soon appear in one of Fondy's class action suit threads.

If the NFL had an opportunity to see the video and chose not to, or worse, if they saw the video but lied about seeing it, something needs to be done to the NFL/Goodell.

TMZ gets the video, but the NFL doesn't? Doesn't make much sense.

This is a crazy statement. I agree that the video was probably over-played on ESPN all day. So that is embarrassing for her. But the spotlight is all part of the celebrity life. She seems to be concerned about Rice's money. Still marrying a guy after he punches you unconscious? And then anger when loses his job?

Meanwhile, the Associated Press has viewed a longer version of the assault video, on which Ray Rice and then-fiance Janay Palmer can be heard shouting obscenities at each other. She appears to spit in the face of the three-time Pro Bowl running back right before he throws the knockout punch.

The video, shown to the AP Monday night by a law enforcement official, includes audio and is longer than the grainy TMZ Sports video released earlier that day. After the TMZ video made its way around the Internet, the Baltimore Ravens cut Rice and the league suspended him indefinitely. Rice was originally suspended for two games and coaches and others had praised his behavior since the arrest for striking his then-fiancee in February.

Peter King getting ripped on si.com with his mailbag
nice to see

One point being brought up about Rice being suspended 'indefinitely' by the NFL....didn't the NFL just change the rules on first time domestic violence offenders with a 6 game suspension? How does Rice get an indefinite ban? I'm not at all saying I disagree with anything that comes to Rice, but it is a fair question. If they just made it a 6 game suspension for a domestic violence offender, shouldn't Rice simply get a 6 game suspension?

Because they are making the rules up as they go along, looks bad all the way around

Right, that's what it sure looks like. The NFL has mishandled this situation in pretty much every conceivable way....first, they only suspend him only 2 games...second, they claim they didn't see the video that came out yesterday, which is hard to believe....third, why didn't they simply ask the casino for a copy of the tape if they didn't get it from the DA/police (who they claim to have asked)?, they can't possibly be that incompetent....fourth, they now indefinitely suspend Rice, even though they just changed and outlined the punishment for a 1st time domestic violence offender, in which Rice should only be suspended for 6 games.

Agreed.

About the legal system playing out though....it did in the Rice case.

Agreed.

The legal system failed here. Based off what everyone is saying it's almost criminal to not proceed with charges. It's not up to the victim, it's up to the state. He obviously got celebrity treatment.

PS: Keith Olberman is a blowhard, egotistical, self-important, arrogant individual. Screw him.

Right, it definitely may have failed. I was simply pointing out that the system did 'play out.' The fact that he was allowed to 'skip out' on a trial and possible punisment, by agreeing to undergo court-supervised counseling seems like he did, in fact, get some celebrity treatment. Tough to say without seeing if something like this is common when the abused agrees to counseling, not wanting to see the abuser get prison time. I have no idea how common that is though, maybe someone else in here would know....but on the surface it looks like the legal system failed.
