NHL 2nd Round - In-Games

mostly laying flat on the ice... but definitely both

Funny, laying flat feels safer to me. The other one feels like a shattered ankle waiting to happen.

But don't look at me, if I ever got out on the ice I'd be between the pipes.

Sundin's a stud.

I miss him

hmmm... Cherry thinks he went about it the wrong way... ie cant bully the league

I miss Coach's Corner even more.

Cherry's right, but what choice did the guy have? Bettman won't even acknowledge he exists.

thats pretty much what Ron McLean was saying.. they already dont like each other etc

I would pay good money to trade places with McLean for one night to do the show with Cherry.

We'd probably have to talk about a Penguins game so I could actually contribute anything, but it would be awesome.

(thats what Steed said)

Ha ha ha ha.

No under seems safe with the way the Blackhawks have played in the playoffs, but right now it's tough to imagine a happier start for that wager in this game.

Not that I played, but you know, in case someone else did.

played the Ducks +135 tonight ....

just too good a price for a home team on a hot streak.....

Police Seize Laptop In Ovechkin Death Threat Investigation

PITTSBURGH -- Channel 11 News learned Thursday that police are investigating a death threat made against Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals.

Pennsylvania state police in Chambersburg said they responded to an address on Newcomer Road in Franklin County to assist with a terroristic threat investigation on Wednesday night.

This investigation involved a threatening message that was posted on a Pittsburgh Penguin message board directed toward Washington Capital hockey player Alexander Ovechkin, police said.

As a result of this investigation, a laptop computer was seized, and the occupants of the residence were identified and accounted for, police said.Police told Channel 11's Marc Willis that a 17-year-old in Chambersburg, Pa. posted the threat on an NHL Web site on Wednesday. Chambersburg is located about three hours east of Pittsburgh.

The teen posted that he was going to kill Ovechkin and said he didn't care if he had to go to jail, police said. The Pittsburgh Penguins released the following statement just before 4 p.m.: "We were notified of the message and immediately turned over all information to the authorities."A short time later the Washington Capitals released this statement: "We became aware of an inappropriate comment on a message board and referred it to appropriate authorities.

We appreciate their diligence and have every confidence in our club's safety."The Capitals star forward has scored in every game in the playoff series against the Pens, including the first goal in Wednesday night's game. The Penguins and Capitals are set to play Game 4 Friday night in Pittsburgh.

I've gotta be honest, the 'new' NHL has me confused on what's a penalty and what's not a lot of the time.

Some hits seem to be legal, some don't, it's now to the point where I look for the arm more than not.

I didnt see the play Joe, just came back from the garage and saw they were on the kill...

for the most part, anything not seen to the naked eye its the offender using his free hand to impede the player... thats what Ive found anyways. one hand on stick usually leads to a penalty

one hand on stick usually leads to a penalty

I've noticed this, too. And a lot of the standard stuff is still the same, slashing, hooking, etc. But the obstruction stuff seems really squishy to me some times.

Whereas I used to look at big hits and just enjoy them for exactly what they were, now, almost no matter whether I feel it 'used to' be fine, I look for the arm.

Oh, and the penalty I was questioning above was that Bieksa and somebody for the Blackhawks got matching minors for what appeared to be nothing more than matching face-washes.

This is going to be an interesting third period because the Canucks may be the worst prevent defense team in the playoffs.

They're one of the best in every other aspect, but when they try to sit on a lead they're about as good at it as the Orlando Magic.

Interference calls reminds me of holding in NFL. Used to be holding was called mostly on pass plays, now its more on running plays. Interference under the new rules started mostly as a defensive penalty, now its called more on the team with the puck when they run a pick.
