They've always made enough for working one day per week.
It's an easy fix, but the NFL refuses for some reason. There's no reason that they can't have an "officiating academy" where they train ex-NFL and college players. They'll be younger with better eyes and reflexes, they'll be more accustomed to the rules as actually having played the game (recently), and you can pay them a ton of money to make it worth their while. Why not pay them $500k+? The league makes $9+ BILLION per year. Like I said, it's embarrassing that the NFL trots out the officiating they do.

Well yes - for working one day a week. But their annual salaries used to be 25-70k a year and if you are making that annually, you would need another job. This would mean no time for an officiating academy (or similar).
BTW - I am agreeing with you that they need to get better officiating. :shake2:
