Michigan cheating…

Why do you think this?

Just a lot of chatter behind the scenes. But who knows. I also think, this is my opinion only, that Harbaugh has coached his last game at Michigan if they lose to OSU which I fully expect to happen not having him there.

Let's not act like most schools don't cheat. Michigan just got busted. They always do.

Sports Illustrated's article about the Mich/Big 10 deal has been corrected:

Editors’ note, Nov. 17 at 12:49 p.m. ET: An earlier version of this story misstated the nature of the talks between Michigan and the Big Ten, and that new information had emerged from the NCAA. In fact, SI is reporting that Michigan officials believed a deal was possible and that it is not clear where the new information came from.

I think the better team will win, regardless of who is there.

The OC's and DC's are extremely sophisticated these days.

And if they do lose to Ohio State who has an incredible D and strong running game and serviceable passing game and has been smarting for two years, I believe it will be because Ohio State was simply the better team.

Assuming UM beats Merry-land tomorrow and loses to Ohio State to finish 11-1, are you saying you do not believe Harbaugh will be there for the bowl game?

this was so much more elaborate than what other schools are doing.

we will find out in due time.

i think many schools pushed the envelope, but what Stalions was doing as a UM staffer was clearly breaking the 29 year old rule on scouting in terms of what is allowed and what is not.

This was addressed in the B1G response:

I think it is clear the Rutgers and Ohio State sharing Michigan's signal info occurred AFTER they found out UM was stealing signals so they shared it with Purdue who UM faced in the 2022 B1G champ game.

schools sharing signal info with each other is nowhere near a University employee attending future opponent's games within the same season and recording the signals and sharing with the staff.

NCAA is supposedly expediting this and the findings will be presented within something like 5 weeks? That's what I heard at least.
that would be a first.

good for them.

that is not soon enough though, if they want to punish UM in this current season.

the CFP committee meets for the final time on Sunday 12/03 which is three weeks and two days away, to decide on the College Football version of The Final Four.

I don't think anyone gives a shit about the 'other schools cheating angle' outside of michigan fans looking to deflect. Like you said, that story came out and quickly faded away. it's just more empty tough guy talk.

Michigan booster Tim Smith denies being 'Uncle T,' who allegedly funded Connor Stalions' sign-stealing scheme

"
Smith has spoken to Stalions multiple times since he resigned from the university after news of the scheme emerged. Smith said that the two are not close and that he knew him “as well as any other staff person” in the university’s football program.

Stalions self-funded the sign-stealing effort by selling a home for more than $100,000, Smith said Stalions told him.

The alleged scheme in which Stalions operated has been described as an elaborate, multi-year system in which he bought tickets to games involving future Michigan opponents and then had associates — as many as 65, per the NCAA’s investigation — attend games to video a team’s play-call signals.

“People don’t understand why he would do it,” Smith said. “He paid his own way. It meant a lot to him and he was trying to do whatever he could (for Michigan).”

ROTFLMFAO at this quote: "He paid his own way. It meant a lot to him and he was trying to do whatever he could (for Michigan).”

it's "but they are doing it, too" childish finger pointing.

they are dead.

Correct.

I just want to publicly apologize to @majent for being a complete asshole to him a week or so ago. He's a good guy and excellent bettor. Have always respected and enjoyed our conversations.

I will be the first to admit, or I guess in this thread, last to admit I was dead wrong with the information I provided. A lot of it was message board chatter or "sources" that were wrong on both sides...just like @AliShaheed told me not to do, and I did. He's a wise man.

I will also admit I am a Michigan fan through and through, since pretty much as a kid, when I went to Michigan Ohio State game at 4 years old.

This sucks as a fan, no way around it. It sucks, all of it. The timing, everything..during maybe one of their best seasons, and probably last one for a long time.

I will probably be a douche again at some point and let the emotions get the best of me when it comes to Michigan. Sorry in advance.

Everything moving forward will be mostly my opinion with regards to this.

Don't be too hard on yourself. This should have been a nothing burger.

Who is there, who is part of the team players or coaches, support staff and trainers, it is part of what makes one team better as opposed to the other. Is Michigan a better team with or without their head coach Jim Harbaugh? Is Ohio State a better team or a lesser team with or without their head coach Ryan Day? One team is diminished without all their assets and therefore the other team has a certain advantage they didn't have before. Ohio State may beat Michigan for the reasons you say, incredible D, strong running game, serviceable passing game with double revenge - but you won't know if they are truly the better team because an important piece off of Michigan's team was not there. This will not matter, it only matters to fan bases and on message boards - one team wins and one team loses. The better team doesn't always win, happens every week, and if Ohio State beats Michigan that does not automatically mean the better team won, it may mean that Michigan was weaker without their leader and therefore lost. It will forever be debated, Michigan fans will always say it and Ohio State fans will always claim it doesn't matter.

Honest question. What had UM/ Harbaugh done wrong here ? Is there literally ANYTHING pointing towards Harbaugh having any idea ? From someone looking outside in this is a big nothing burger

Partridge , the linebackers coach was fired today. He tried to cover up evidence. Still a long way to go in this but if some of your coaches knew about it, you'd have to ASSUME Harbaugh knew. There is no evidence that he did know, but where there is smoke there is fire right?

I personally don't think he did but that this was a "group" working together without letting the head man know..that's JUST MY OPINION.

Very true! Especially the last sentence.

i think it's pretty obvious that JJ is missing his top receiving target Roman Wilson who missed the Penn State game and only caught 1 ball yesterday before leaving the game with an injury.

This is the biggest OSU Michigan game of my life.
my favorite in the lead up was 2006. adding to it was the great Bo Schembechler passing away the morning of the game which was very sad but just added to the storyline.

they are all pretty big and the last few years plus this one are huge but that 2006 version was #1 vs #2 and even though it was 17 years ago i remember they hype in the weeks leading up to it, like it was yesterday.

THis year surpasses 2006 to me with this soap opera going on. Both sides are so salty right now.

for negativity yes it surpasses 2006. but 06 was #1 vs #2, game of the century type stuff I used to see with the Oklahoma-Nebraska rivalry.

06 was huge. it was 17 years ago so it will be forgotten by most as the teams take the field next Sat, but it was so epic in all of the build up and the game itself was pretty amazing.

now they have a guy on the basketball team who is only going to play home games? He not allowed to leave the state or something?

Posting that in this thread, which had dropped into oblivion, feels like a backhanded and therefore disingenuous way of saying this
honestly did not mean it.

UM was the best team on the field this year and was not very close.

I know BAR and HUNT are big UM guys.

i congratulate them and other UM backers who read here.

let's move on.
