InGame - Wednesday Night World Series, NHL, and NBA X

just got back from a month long trip out to europe, if anyone can do it I 100% recommend Oktoberfest in Munich, unreal.

sounds awesome man

I've done a 4 week trip, a 3 week trip and a 2 week trip. The older I get, the shorter the trips become

Just hit Penguins -125 live

From the sound of your post, it seems most of them have read and live by the book "The Millionaire Next Door"
most are very low key and don't flash their wealth with expensive cars and houses. They live well - don't get me wrong - they travel a lot and live down south for the winter, etc. but that's about it.

That's my absolute dream...except my summer home would be in Nashville

checked out a futbol game too, that was absolutely wild. Wasn't FC Barcelona but was the other team in Barca, RCD Espanyol.

I've heard you mention Nashville a couple times. I've never been. You really like it, huh? What part(s) about Nashville do you like?

Well I like to go for a weekend because Broadway is full of tourists. You've heard me speak to it in those terms before. It's a great spot for a weekend trip where I can meet up with friends because we're all within 3-5 hours.

However the reason I'd like to retire there is because its temperate and has a ton of wealthy people. That lends itself to excellent golf and food. I just think it would be a great place to retire for those reasons. I'm not much of a beach person but it would be a great place for a summer home. The only thing I would add is a MLB team

LOl, why is there a guy behind home plate wearing a marlins sweatshirt ( sorry if someone else mentioned this)

good stuff. thanks.

Hoping this thing gets to a game 6 as I will likely be making a return trip to KC. Didn't figure to be back so fast and unless the Royals take care of business tonight I likely will remain grounded in Phx

He's been around for years, here's an article from 2012

[h=1]That Damn Marlins Fan Was Behind The Plate Again Last Night At The World Series[/h]Perhaps you noticed a douchey-looking gent behind home plate during NLCS Game 7, wearing a bright orange Marlins jersey and Marlins visor worn sideways. If not, you definitely saw him in the same seat tonight, still wearing the Marlins shirt though in a panda hat (that he later changed to a different panda hat).
SBNation's Amy K. Nelson actually tracked the dude down, and learned he's a charter Marlins season ticketholder and owner of a worker's comp law firm. You can go over there and read all about him.

N FRANCISCO - During Game 7 of the National League Championship Series, cameras spotted a strange fan sitting behind home plate in the Giants' home ballpark, wearing, of all things, a bright orange Marlins jersey. The internet was abuzz; how did this man score such prime seats, and why, on earth, would he actually wear a MARLINS jersey?
The Giants went on to win Game 7 to make it to the World Series, but the man remained a mystery.

Then, during Game 1 of the World Series against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night, the man was back again. Who was this guy, how did he score the same sweet seats again and why is he still wearing the SAME BRIGHT ORANGE MARLINS JERSEY?
So, naturally, I went to find him -- and more importantly, find answers to those questions.
In the middle of the fourth inning, I went behind home plate and talked with Laurence Leavy, who at first seemed shocked some stranger was creeping up beside him. But he agreed to exclusively give SB Nation his story.
But before, just in case security wouldn't let me through, I had made a note to pass to him:

Luckily, I didn't need it, and Leavy, 52, couldn't have been nicer. Turns out he really is a Marlins fan.
"I'm a season ticket holder," he says. "I was in New York for the Yankees games [for the ALCS] I was all over. I just love baseball. I wear the same thing, everywhere I go."
Leavy got the tickets through StubHub, but then also adds that the Marlins helped him out. He owns a law firm that specializes in worker's compensation cases, and is a Miami resident. He has seats right behind home plate at the new Marlins ballpark, and said he's had season tickets since the organization's inception.
"I'm one of the very, very few left," he says. "There were only 1,000 season ticket holders in the first year."

He's here with his friend Lisa DeCosta, a San Francisco local and a huge Giants fan who used to work for Leavy.
And Leavy says, amazingly, no one gives him a hard time about wearing the same Marlins jersey to every game. He says he's been to 26 Super Bowls and 80 World Series games, and he just loves sports.
"The best [photo of him] is the Heat game when everybody was in white and I was in orange," he says while flipping through his photo gallery. "It's hysterical you're gonna crack up."
And there he is, a lone orange shirt sitting in a sea of white. He says he went to the Marlins game earlier that night and, of course, wore the same jersey to the Heat game in the NBA Finals, not getting the memo that everyone was supposed to wear white.
"I'm like 'Oh shit, I'm in orange,'" Leavy says. "And [the Heat] won, and that's how it started."

Since they won, everyone told him to keep wearing it. And he did, and the Heat won the championship.
"All because of the doubleheader," he says, "it was totally by accident."
I had to ask him some burning Marlins questions, here's where Leavy stands:

  • On if he liked the old teal and black colors better, or the new shades: "Yeah I liked the old colors a lot better. The camouflage they only wear on Memorial Day and Veterans day, I didn't really like it."
  • On Ozzie Guillen getting fired: "He deserved to be fired; he didn't do that job. He had the players, he had the money, he didn't get it done."
  • On this Marlins season: "Very disappointed, because they got a new stadium - the stadium is the best stadium ... The Marlins, for years, had players who overperformed their contracts and this year they went in the tank."
  • On who should manage the team: "I want somebody experienced, not a rookie. I'd be very happy if they hired somebody like the Red Sox manager ... Valentine? Bobby Valentine. I'd be very happy if they hired somebody like that. A [Jim] Leyland type, who says 'I've done this 20 years, it's my way or you're gone.' I felt the players were running the team this year."
  • On who his favorite Marlin is: "[Giancarlo] Stanton, because he's outperformed his contract and when he's healthy he plays great and when he's in the game he makes a difference."
  • On the home run structure out in center field: "A waste of money. The Marlins hit hardly any home runs, you sit there the whole game, it never goes off and everybody else hits home runs and you don't see it. And the fences are too far out; they need to come in about 20 feet."
And there you have it. Laurence Leavy is the man. He thinks Ozzie should have been fired, his favorite player is Stanton, he hates the home run structure, and he wants Bobby Valentine as the Marlins' new manager. Perfection.
Oh, wait, it gets better — Leavy has two Panda hats he wears, and said he put the white one on after Pablo Sandoval's first home run in Game 1.

Some hockey talk, I understand the Buffalo Sabres suck but +291 in a hockey game seems ridiculous. Small bet on the Sabres for me. Games still an hour away though.

wowo i cant belive this

"The owner of the Royals was extremely upset that I was there," Leavy said.
They offered him a private suite if he would move.
They tried enticing him with free World Series goodies if he would get rid of the orange jersey.
No way, Marlins Man said.

1st time i had a gun pulled on me was in Nashville...but I like the safe parts. Almost went to Belmont for school, but have had a HS buddy live there for 15 years and loves it.

did anyone see that dude in 2nd row using binoculars lmao i saw it on espn wtf was he looking at??
