Help me out here fellas

I'm gonna toy around betting this weekend. I'm very green at this and I don't want to break the bank. I've been sifting through some threads and I like some of the plays you guys have out there.

I'm gonna risk upwards of $50 and I was wondering what type betting stratagies you guys would reccomend? What games do you consider favorable? Y'all here seem to be pretty succesful, I was wondering if you could help a man out.

In terms of posters to follow, Id look towards FadeMeNow for his SEC plays, HawaiiGuy if he comes up with anything on the Hawaii game...but really, anyone on here would probably be a decent bet. I would recommend SoonersBS, too, but I don't like his play this week

If you are going to be risking $50, I'd probably break it into $5 chunks for now...it might be discouraging to make $10 after a good week, but a win is a win, and you are just learning now.

As for following people, I'd recommend that you pick your own games based on what looks good to you. When you start out, you'll probably fall into all sorts of sucker bets...but that is what this forum and experience can help you with. If you are looking for a rule of thumb to keep yourself out of trouble early, never take a road favorite. That doesn't mean to take a home dog instead...just means that road favorites are often traps. They also win a decent amount, but it takes awhile to learn what makes for an acceptable road fav...

good luck here, if you have any specific questions, let us know-if you are eyeing a few games, post them-we'll give feedback (just like people do on my "tell me why i'll lose" thread)

Thanks for the tips. I've been betting small here and there the past couple weeks and haven't been to succesful.

Like I said though, I'm still rather green and still learning. I think i'll get the hang of everything down the road.

I'll be sure to post my picks here a bit later on.

u need to protect ur bankroll at all times, no matter how large or small. so basically if ur bankroll is 50 then u should play to win 2.50 a game, i know that shit sounds crazy but its over tha long haul, this shit isnt a get rich scheme. always remember dont risk more than u got. be smart an treat it like an investment that will grow over time, u want to get rich overnight go to tha 7-11 an buy some lotto tickets. good luck, an good to see u joined CTG

Well, in regards to what tru said, it all depends what you are hoping to get out of this. If you have no problem losing the $50, and might even be willing to buy right back in, I don't think you need to bet as low as $2.50 a game.

He does have a point, though. I lost my first 3 buyins pretty quickly...but they were about the same level as you were at, $100 at a time. Some of it was money management, some of it was falling to blackjack on the online casinos (if there is one thing we can impress on you, do NOT play online blackjack. don't even try it. not fun. nope. not at all. play at a casino if you want action.)

Now, though, I've been going off of the same buyin for a long time, and been multiplying it for awhile. Once you've got it figured out, THEN you can risk more.

The other thing to remember is, just because someone is posting at a 60% clip or winning over and over again, don't trust them more than you trust yourself - because that streak they're on can end at anytime. In the end use your best judgment on games.

I have no problem losing $50. Would I like too? Obviously not. At all costs I wouldn't like to have to buy back in. The main problem I feel that is costing me is greed. Which is common amongst many inexperienced bettors. I've fallen into the parlay trap a couple times and as you'd expect, haven't been succesful in that aspect of the betting world. Straight wagers I feel are a little more worth it. All in all as long as i'm getting advice from you folks here I should be in good shape.

I was up 35 units at one point havin 4 straight winning weeks.. then the last 2 have been miserable. Everyone goes in cold spells, dont chase
dont believe people who say they are hitting 67% on their plays imo. Ive never seen it.. not for a whole year( Dont believe everyones records) If a game looks to good to be true it usually is.

The only way to go 67% over the long run, IMO, is to bet about 6 games a season that you are POSITIVE will cash...
