Since the All-Star break(ASB), Florida is...

15-5 SU off a loss
3-15 SU off a win

They play Friday off a loss on Thursday.

Despite going 12-9 in their last 21 games against left-handed starters, Florida's lack of run production has been consistently poor. In 20 of the 21 games, the opposing starters have tossed 123 innings giving up only 40 earned runs (2.93 ERA). Whether or not Florida wins seems to rest completely on their starting pitching and the opponent's relief pitching since Florida has tapped out at 3 runs or less against the lefty starter in 20 of those 21 games (3, 3, 2, 2, 0, 3, 2, 2, 1, 2, 2, 3, 1, 3, 2, 2, 0, 2, 2, 3). The one exception was the 7 runs scored in 1.2 innings against the turbulent Jorge De La Rosa who couldn't find the strike zone.

Held up again tonight....and I was counting on them to score some runs against Morton. Hard to believe they could only manage 2.

BTW - appreciate all you do with these threads, they are really good stuff

Pretty big overlay for Zito. Reds 6-14 last 20 to Giants 11-9. Zito and Volquez both 5-5 last 10. Giants off their first day off in 20 games and a revenge game.

Any thoughts on tomorrow's cubs total? We have two ex-teammates facing off after a late inning debacle that would have otherwise been a low scoring game. Harden is just unotouchable lately. Blanton is also a ground ball pitcher so he should be minimally affected by the wind direction. I think a lazy afternoon game after a dog fight the night before calls for an under. I'd like to hear from SN and Tuck on this one, got killed in CFB opening night and am going back to the well. Think this may be a large play..even with b.welke behind the plate.

Tribe @ -20 riding a 10 game winning streak is intriguing... but SEA has their ace on the mound and are playing better ball as of late...

Guth is obviously Balty's best arm....however his last 2 starts have been against the big boys in the AL East @ home (BOS-Lester, NY-Pavano) and he couldn't get the job done. Now he has to go on the road and face TB's ace? TB a tad bit overpriced, but I feel they get the job done.

Also, I know many will prob disagree, but a good amount of value on Blanton +220. Sorta similar to Harden's start on that Saturday a month ago vs FL, around the same price range. Philly has better bats than FL, saw him earlier this year in IL play (just like FL) and although Harden has been filthy, you never know if he's gonna be done after 6 with a high pitch count. That means 3 innings of the Cubbie pen, which is less than stellar...did come thru tonight though. Also, may wanna think about the chip on the shoulder factor for Fat Joe here....he was always in Harden's shadow in Oakland...this is a chance for him to make a statement. After all, OAK was bad after the Harden trade, but after they got rid of Blanton, they turned into a pile of steaming dog shit. Just a few thoughts...

i kinda see the value in phili tomorrow, but only because of Harden's achilles heal of LHBs. The only guys who have been able to tag this guy have almost ALL been LHB. Go look at the game logs. Tomorrow, he faces - dobbs, howard, rollins, utely, and victorino. That's a tough batch of lefties in my opinion. He has had one meeting with the phils and there were a total of 4 hits, no bbs off of 8 innings. Just 4! guess what... all 4 were against LHB and the flying hawaiian Victorino had 2.

Harden's day splits are also considerably worse. Still sports a nice 2.65 day era, but compared to his night split of 1.2, it is a far cry. If the phils dont get to harden in 6-7 innings, i dont think they ever will. They have Marmol and Samardija available with Cotts for LHB stretches. A much better option then they had today, imo. Harden is also on his typical 5 days rest, which has proven to work for him, so not much there..

Blanton's road numbers have always blowed and they will probably continue to do so. his day ERA is worse as well. I would never play fat joe in this spot, but at the same time woudnt bet against him as he has done well in the past against formiddable lineups on the road. I saw him in japan against boston. Looked sharp. I really think it's a matter of motivation. Whether that motivation is there tomorrow is a question, but it is very likely, for no one wants to lose to an old teammate. The bullpen is however the big problem for phili...as they are just shit. Madson/durbin/romero were used today to leave them with thin pickings for tomorrow.... if you dont think fat joe goes 8ip and you're taking the phils, you should get your head checked out, imo...

And of course, Fat joe has never faced the cubs before, conceptually giving him the edge in a greeting game. So there we have it, 2 pitchers that havent seen much of the opposition, both not doing fantastic during the day. If it werent for the dramatic ending to tonight and the otherwise quiet bats, i wouldnt even be looking a this game. It's going to come down to lineups for me. I guess we will see tomorrow.

A's are 11-29 since July 13th

Nat's 5-14 last 19 , this includes recent sweep of Dodgers

Red's 7-18 since Griffey left

LAD 2-11 on the road since Manny arrived

I hear ya Satyr, but the have played an awful road team(LAD) now they catch a Braves team & they could actually win a few more.

Burnett L5 starts vs. Yankees covering 07 and 08. 5-0 w/37.1 ip/5er, 37K's. 1.20 era/.89 whip.

Wind blowing in at wrigely, 9-14 mph... im on the under prolly

Early game is tough IMO. Harden has owned the NL 10er /11 run in 12 starts (indepth stats in GHs thread ). Only achilles has been the longball think 6hrs (or 7) and considering just 11 runs (10ER) we know what you need to do vs him to score on most days. Which obviously Philly can do...on the flip he allowed more then 1 run in only 6 of his 19 starts outside of the DL comeback...

His Day splits I think are somewhat misleading ...his 1st start of the DL early on was @ Texas in the day ....tough spot alone @ texas and then 1st off the DL kinda makes it useless indicator...but I have seen him been so-so vs Houston in the day , think vs Fla as a Cubbie was in the day so there is some truth to a lesser version of him but how much and to what to extent ?? Seems his pitch count does fly higher if I recall...

Phillies NEED this game . They are off B2B chokes and teams either respond or get smoked ...so best choice might be fucking around and playing Cubbies -1.5 ML and Phillies ML as I think its HIGHLY likely one of those hits . Just dont see Chi scrapping out a win ...its either all or nothing for both......

Blanton's a mystery , off a good start facing an exteammate and if that is NOT motivation then I would question if he had a pulse.....

Think Cubbies have been okay in these FRI day games and overall 10-1 on FRI compared to 14-7 for Philly ...Cubs do have the edge in the pens but since Philly imploded twice is it now more likely that Chi does then Philly does AGAIN??

Cubs have seemed to be involved in alot of low scoring games on these Friday matinees....overall 14-6-1 UND on FRidays and 20-7-2 UND L29FRI games....

Would rather play the 1st 5 und then game und but really neither has much value . Full game might have more value if both go 6 or 7 inn cutting the pens out of teh equation....

Think Cubs have to slow down about after the Pitt series and they didnt do much off DUke or Hamels past 2 days but both are LH which inb fairness is supposed to be Cubs strength ....

Tough game ...hard to not lean UNDER IMO as when Harden has lost it has been 7 runs or less games..run support in losses 0 , 1 , 3 ,3 ,2 ,0....

Curious to see what Philly does compared to @ Oak as there lineup has hit better of late and certainly better then it was back then...

Just hard to see Philly outpitching Harden and Co ...could not lay the chalk and would prefer the RL for reason mentioned.....

I may sit this out it a coin flip or just play Philly ML vs Cubs RL ....GL

Looking at Seattle/Clev over 9. Cleveland scoring 7.3 rpg over L10 (10-0) and hitting .289. Hernandez sporting a 1.72 whip over L3 starts and was hit on the road pretty well in two of those vs CWS and LAA. Seattle 8-1 over in L9 and 20 of L28 over. Both of these bullpens are very susceptible as well.

So far largest bet is Frisco. have just added a 1 unit bet on Baltimore first 5 ml and plus .5. Very tired. Been getting up 4.40 in the morning recently with added focus on the market.

No involvement for me in the Yankee game. Yank and Pavano in a game 1 are not worth betting but Burnett in 4 of his last 5 has looked very poor and is facing Yanks for the fourth time this year.

Good stuff guys. Tuck I feel your pain well sort of . My insomnia has been killer lately and I havent fallen asleep very often before 5 AM in weeks ...

I butchered the Cubbies game a bit . Lost a small hedge on the RL Cubs and Phills ML didnt expect it to play out like that. Was lucky enough to hits Phillys 1st 5 inn ML and under though so made some...

Good Luck ..I have no idea what I am playing later but Yanks a home pup ?? Burnett better be excellent as he is on dangerous ground facing them for the 4th time . Jays offensive just dont hit enough for me to fade . Yanks stink I wont disagree but it seems road chalk is overpriced lately ...how many runs did Tor score @ TB? Think 7 ? Burnett was +140 at home vs Burnett , then -140 vs Rasner and now -120 @ NY ? Just seems like the value has been sucked up unless Yanks suck it up which could happen......

2 half unit adds on Padres and Florida. May upgrade these depending on ump as both seem fairly sound to me. Probably the last dog plays.

Wasn't posting much in MLB thread but I'm on Sisco +170 and Baltimore +160 tonigh. I see these lines set to high. Wouldn't rate them over 145 and 135. So 4 units a piece is my call.

Situationally Braves and Dodgers very different opponents. Some lean to Washington. Spent a unit on Minn in various ways.
