thanks for the daily posts crimes

random thoughts and at first glance:

daniel rasners is -210? i know its the royals but since when did rasner become chien ming wang?

lots of home dogs w/ value i think, need to dig deep w/ em, the only two road favorites im looking at are the mets w/ johan and the brewers w/ sheets

the king at +135 also caught my eye as I am not fascinated by colon even w/ some good outings

id really like to fade byrd but 155 seems alot

I love the Phillies tommorrow at +130. The Braves pen is absolutely depleted after this set with the Fish. The Phillies pen has had two nights off. Phillies are a good road team that hits Hudson better than most.

Mets runline seems too easy. The Amusins hit LHP and the Fathers don't. How is SD going to score on Johan?

Twins at +150 against CWS? Looks damn good to me as the Twins seem to beat the Sox most of the time.

I lean to the OVER in Detroit. The Indians might have found some offensive confidence in Texas. They also hit Verlander pretty well. Night game at home should be a good spot for the Tigers as well.

Pirates get Ryan Doumit back from the DL, he will fit nicely with Bay and Nady .. I will start a chase on the Buccos to win a unit vs Dbacks ...Thinking maybe rl +1.5 with Webb on the mound ...Zona bats cold...Snell is a headcase right now but i think he gets it turned around soon...]Pirates struggling in game 1 of series...hmmm

Pedro Alvarez:cheers:

Like philly/braves (yes) 1st inn run scored all series ,will be juicy ...

the only Under result going under by 2 runs, and the highest game total (19 runs) being the only match-up between Byrd & Verlander (that being in Detroit).

Cleveland bats have had a kick start by playing in Texas (have totaled 5+ runs in 6 of their last 9 games, after totaling 5+ runs in 2 of their previous 15 games before that).

Detroit is O/U 3-0-1 (15.25 runs avg) when playing a home game off a road game this season (Over bias at home, Under bias on the road)

In their last 41 games, Tampa Bay ....

- is 27-6 SU vs everyone everywhere except Boston at Fenway

- is 0-6 SU vs Boston at Fenway

I know the last three days I cant pick winners consistently for shit or even the last 2 weeks......

LAD comes all the way back and loses after they tie it and leaves the bases loaded after a leadoff double. That after the LAL over was in cruise control until the 7 minute mark of the 4th quarter ..naturally I liked the Celts and didnt play as well as the LAD over ...

NL:
Zona on the road vs a RHSP at that price even if its Webb not of interest . Pirates or pass. DBacks now .195 avg away vs RHP and 4-11 record. Which they have lost 7 straight away vs RH since beating Peavy 2-1 and think they have just 15 runs in those 7 losses . Trust me the names wouldnt impress . Pirates now 12-7 at home vs RHSP but have struggled vs some of the better ones . Snell isnt pitching well but is RH at least....

Reds always tough to back in opening games .....Miller making some progress and Cueto was great last time out.

Thinking UNDER @ ATL. Both SP throwing faiirly well of late and do solid at night. ATL has some issues vs LHP . Teixiera is only 205 but solid against Moyer . This where Matt Diaz'a loss is really felt. Hard to see Hudson losing 3 straight starts but could happen. Philly outpitched Cincy to win 3 of 4 so there bats are pretty quiet. Which is why I would look at ATL but Phillies are 16-4 in series openers and 16-5 L21 Fridays.

With Wash lineup the under always looks good especially with this SP matchup. Just have to hope Bergmann contines to role as Nats pen can be shaky. Would lean SFG though as Aaron Boone hitting 4th says alot and they faced a kid from STL drafted from my conference as he played @ Manhattan. About the only reason why they actually won vs STL today.

Really think Houston is in a great spot. They come home from a terrible road trip and face STL who plaped a DH and then travleled. Though its likely Piujols plays . Looper has allowed 52 hits last 6 starts in 35.1 inn which his innings continue to drop and his 4th start vs Hous already

Probably look into LAD again.

look at the UNDER @ SD . Wolf is in a groove right now and Santana facing SD who has beeen terrible vs LHP definetly a nice plus ....like SD +1.5 RL though as Wolf always does well vs NY for some reason 6-1 L6 starts and the loss was by 1 run. The past 10 starts he is 7-3.

As bad as COL is the Brewers still lost 12 of 16 away. Jimine was tough at home last few times and like COL off a terrible trip as well...Sheets has been throwing alot of pitches his limitted worl @ COL has not been that good but also not that recent.

Just think Verlander is pitching 2 well to lose again and he gets a highly favorable matchup....probably an under as well....

Want to look at Davies closer but if Rasner can continue to pitch like he has then NYY is real cheap !! Yanks are 7-2 at home since Arod returning losing the 1st game and the Joba experiment . Yanks are hitting especially Damon and while it not look it like it the Yanks pen did okay today . KC pen has seemingly got alot of work lately and they are probably flat after losing the 15 inning game , playing Thursday and then flying all the way to NYC. Not to mention they are about 2-15 L17 games and lost about 11 straight away ...Davies is a HUGE question here ...Game should be at least 280 though ....also KC is 3-27 L30 at Yankee Stadium and worse on FRI 2-11

Like Seattle in the rematch . King Felix was great last time out and his only start @ Febway was magnificent a 1 hit shutout . Colon has been solid but lets see how he does seeing the sme team twice.....like SEA +140 they set Boston low to entice Sox money but laso because SEA really had no home factor when it hosted Sox.......

Burres a mess last two ve good offfenses. Still not trusting of Jays bats but would lean them slightily until I see how poorly outside of vs the overrested Eveland .Not to mention West Coast for 6 fames, then to NYY for a highly emotional series blwoing a 7-2 lead and Ryan blew another .....this price seems about 20 cents to high when I look at ......leap of faith play on Balt who is 13-7 oin openers ??

Kaz pitching lights out and owns Texas . 29 inn 43 Ks 21 H 6 ER 11BBs 1 Hr ......Padilla huge question mark after the extended layoff. Huge decision to lay chalj with a TB lineup not hitting vs a Texas team scoring and allowing runs at record rates ....PAdilla has struggled vs TB...lean TB hard to imagine Padilla being sharp and well the pen we know about that

Hard to fade Chi since it appears thet received Ozzies message. Blackburn has to be a little off IMO after the liner and facing WSox for the 4th time already in 2008. Javy has just been consistently solid all year ....

Oak Under ? Especially if Vlad misses. Lackey great success @ oak but like the dog.....:shake:

drays are going to be my biggest play this year.. feel that they are gonna go apeshit over these guys after getting swept

Safe to say Atlanta - not Moyer's favorite place to be. Philly have big bats, over 9.5 is a lean. I see SN will be on the under, not a good sign.

I still have to cap it though, these are just initial thoughts.

Good stuff BC. What are your thoughts on this one, any leans?

I am really scared of going against the regression of Philly bats right now. They have scored a ton of runs in the past few weeks but as SN has mentioned, they have been pretty quiet against Cincinnati, and that was at home. If I'm going on the over in this one I have to get at least 4-5 runs from them.

I'm looking at...
Cincy
Houston
Detroit
Tampa Bay
Chicago White Sox

For some reason I really like Verlander to pull it off. He's been slumping all year and now faces a team that he's got horrible career numbers against but yet opens as a fave of -165? Byrd has been freefalling lately and Verlander's been picking it up his last 3 starts.

White Sox are rolling again (yes...we swept KC, big whoop but it's a sweep and we'll take it). As it was pointed out, this is the 4th time the White Sox are seeing Blackburn, that is a LOT imo. Javier was great in his last outing against Tampa Bay but got not a single run to back him up and lost 2-0.

Tampa Bay looks to be in a good bounceback spot as Kazmir has been great lately and thankfully is facing a team he's had success against. Only scary thing is the Texas bats are alive right now. Not so sure about the Tampa offense. Pena is out and Crawford seems to be playing on one leg....Upton needs to step it up here imo.

Cincy is really a hunch play, I get the feeling Cueto has a solid showing. Hunch...

Houston's Brian Moehler is a favorite...damn can't remember the last time I saw that LOL. But seriously, seems like a line to entice some St. Louis money so I may just attempt to be mr. contrarian here.

lol and on a sidenote...wouldn't it be interesting if Tampa Bay/Boston becomes a similar rivalry to Boston/New York. Now Boston is the team with all the talent and winning it all, and Tampa Bay is playing 2nd fiddle to them in the division and just can't seem to beat them/get over the hump LOL. Just a funny thought.

The Yankees should take care of business against KC. Rasner is no Cy Young but he's solid, especially at home. I'm actually glad he had a tougher start in MIN so he can get that bad start out of the way (also, it was on the road, Yanks at home now).

Yanks off a comeback win, hitting well, Davies is a liability, I don't think the Royals have it in them to win this game here, whatever they produce (3-4 runs), Yankees can double the way they're hitting now.

Also, this team should be sick and tired of hovering around .500 for such a long time. Time to step up?

What are your thoughts on this one, any leans?

Their bats went cold against a team they didnt fear and didnt inspire any great rivalry. Atlanta is the opposite to that. I'll let game 1 play out, but not a series I see going 3-0 to Under.

daniel rasners is -210? i know its the royals but since when did rasner become chien ming wang?
pardon me, but it's not Rasner v Davies, it's NYY v KC. And the way it looks, I cannot find one single edge for KC here.

Sure, Rasner is far from being called a stud, but he's a young, very solid pitcher who has fared very well against sub par lineups this year, especially at home.

KC is another poor lineup here, who are being crushed in NY as it is, and the Yankees are finally connecting hits well, I've seen a couple of their games in the past week and they are stepping up, they're playing like they care. Finally, after numerous weak performances throughout the season.

I'm aware this is a huge number to lay but what did you expect?

The Royals are 2-15 in last 17 games, Davies has had 1 start this season, and they're coming off a brutal string of games including a 15 inning loss on Wednesday.

I'm not advocating Rasner is Wang, but he has shown he can shut down teams, especially at home. And his "bad start" in Metrodome was a 5.1, 8 H, 4 ER, 5 SO game.

I don't think that's a disaster, but it so happens the Yanks weren't producing shit in that one.

Hardly happening again here, but these are just my thoughts.

:shake:

SN, i have hit a cold streak lately, too. Hopefully we can end this and start stacking chips in the very near future.

here are my leans (waiting for umps tho):
Pitt U
FLA U
WAS U
HOU O
COL O
SD U
DET U
BOS U
TOR O
TEX O (everyday i'm leaning this way until the season ends)
OAK U

Interesting clash at Coors. The Rockies finally managed to win 2 in a row and it happened against the Dodgers, who are 2-8 in last 10.

The Rockies still missing half of their lineup though:

Fielders Status/Updated

Also, one thing I came across. The Rockies beat the crap out of Milwaukee last season.

Date Home/Away M/L O/U Home Starter IP Away Starter IP
08/08/07 COL 19 - MIL 4 COL -125 O 9.5 Jeff Francis 5.0 Yovani Gallardo 2.2

08/06/07 COL 6 - MIL 2 COL -121 U 10.5 Josh Fogg 7.0 Claudio Vargas 7.0

Milwaukee hardly going to forget that. On the flip side, Sheets, who has been great so far in 2008, does not fare that well against the Rockies, they hit him at a .313 clip.

Jimenez has better overall numbers at home...something to think about. Not sure which way to go here so I'll prolly leave it alone.

Some of tonights pitchers in the month of June last 3 years...

Hernandez Seattle 8-2
Verlander Detroit 9-2
Santana Mets 13-4
Hudson Atlanta 4-10

dodger are perhaps the most frustrating team this year... They get wood to hit the rookie with a pitch, load up the bases, 2-0 count, then kemp swings at a super high fastball, then gets K'd. The stats guy then after the game said that dodgers are like 11-30 against teams north of .500....great. LAD just made my non play list.

Even Glavine and Smoltz have hit this guy. :36_11_6:

Safe to say Atlanta - not Moyer's favorite place to be. Philly have big bats, over 9.5 is a lean. I see SN will be on the under, not a good sign.

I still have to cap it though, these are just initial thoughts.

Big thing with Jamie Moyer is avg is real useless. Everyone hits Jamie Moyers especially at this point . His hits per inning I am sure is one of the worst in the past 10 years for a SP. His success is based on his ability to pitch out of trouble. Understandably 378 sets off alarms but ATL also has Kotsay , Diaz and Prado on the DL. Who happen to be 29-57 and if you look closely all those hits he only allowed 3 Hrs . So 36-117 is still high but as bad at .308.

So for me focusing more on ATL vs LHP lately and there current form then past tendecies . Moyer has been doing fairly well and his night number are much better then his day starts. With Hudson you can highlight his last 3 starts as poor vs Philly but that is also ignoring how good his previous starts vs Philly where. At some point with the unbalanced schedule if you face a team 5-6-7 times a season and repeat that year after year your bound to have struggles.

Just some food for thought:shake:

No Fair Counting!! :36_11_6: By the way still thinking but am liking the dodgers.

I am seriously thinking about betting the Dodgers and you wondering if I am ok? Actually, yes I am fine. Re the Dodgers Kuo has not pitched recently. An extended winning streak was snapped 2 games ago. Zambrano pitches on a Saturday tomorrow on the road and I am no fan of Gallagher and like unpopular favorites.

Actually I thought yesterday was a better spot for the Dodgers, but that's just me.

  • Dempster kinda setting up for a poor start after pitching not so well against Colorado at home and being shaky overall on the road
  • Cubs off a loss after 9 wins
  • Cubs on the road
  • Dodgers with the better pitcher

Dodgers still lose.

I'm just glad the odds moved so drastically (1.86 - 1.75) it was a no action for me, but in all reality if I were to fade the the Cubs in this series it was going to be yesterday.

Not saying you can't hit it tonight, I hope you do, just saying I can't touch it.

GL

Wrong way to view it. Cubs 7-3 last 10 atsite. Dempster 2.00 road era and great numbers vs the Dodger batters plus the Cubs knew about the match up today. Tomorrow they are determined to bury the Dodgers so situationally this is the time to bet against them if there is a time. You do not bet against a strong team when they have a weak link going the next day further why were they a favorite yesterday anyway? You might ask that about today as well but the only answer is this spread says the Dodgers stink and that one said they were a top team which is a joke and this one is with a rookie starter not the number 2 of the team.

Does anyone like the Giants? Washington played double header yesterday and used alot of pitchers. Lincecum has excellent stats in road starts and the Giants had a day off.

Same spot for Houston. Coming back home againts St. Louis, banged up double-header, used lots of pitchers, etc.

Anybody have thoughts on these two plays?

I played Houston for that reason combined with the returning home off a bad road trip "angle". Sort of a play on the mentality of its nice to be home again. Not sure I want to lay road chalk on SF w/o seeing the lineup . Wash lineup is pretty soft . They beat up Parisi and still almost blew it still want to see WASH puts out there and I dont like play SFG w/o Durham. For some reason if you look at the games he starts they faired better . GL:cheers:

Thanks, Sportsnut. I read on ESPN preview that Durham is supposed to be back in the lineup tonight. I think I will give them a shot, seems like good spot, and read somewhere that the Giants are 8-1 when Lincecum takes the mound after a defeat and his stats are sick in those spots, as well as on the road in general. Thanks for the insight, I am a more of a lurker here, but really like this thread and everybody's thoughts.

No problem ras . Questions are good for everyone hopefully they get multiple replies which lead to some different approaches....

I played the Giants but first game of series all my bets are small. bottom line till Washington gets players back they are going to lose a lot of games. Not trying to be too fine tuned. Just putting a hand out to see what comes back. Could be brown, smelly and soft. :hang:

Under SFG 7
Under SD 7

Under ATL 9 {probably 1 unit still looking at it}
Under Florida 9 {small}
Under 10 Det {small.75unit}
Under 9 Boston {passed}
Under 9.5 NYY {small}

Thanks Tuck. I sort of went with the fact Burres is off 2 terrible starts that were sort of owed to him . Tor still hasnt hit LHP outside of the 12 run game vs Eveland which I attribute solely to being on 8 days rest after a CG shutout I believe......GL on the rest trying to catch up with your comments ....

Shortline : Wouldnt worry so far no big totals plays at all . Just tiny 1/2 unit deals . Actually alot of tehse totals have moved to day as I hate playing those . It seems th emoves either are mostly correct or incorrect each day and I am not playing those moves or fading them so I could get caught in the middle...

You have done your research I wouldnt worry the one I am focusin on most is ATL.....:shake:

Still finishing up interested certainly in anyone's view even we disagree...

Will be adding to Houston ML and might play some RL.

Following the approach I have learned from TUCK and that is paying colse attention to what lies ahead for these teams seems this game is real big for Houston . After a 2-7 trip they have Wainright who has done well vs them in the past to which I dont mind coming back big on Sunday with Wandy Rodriguez vs Lohse but Looper is the weakest link this series IMO . Moehler has kept his team in games typically going 5+ innings allowing 3 runs or less. So over might be an option as well . STL had to use some arms yesterday in the DH with Parisi getting shelled although game 1 ceratinly was helpful with an offday on WED. Still not sold STL will close close games and Franklin saved one lost another yesterday .

Looper already facing Houston for the 4th time this season .

  • <LI class=morehot>Astros are 10-1 in their last 11 home games vs. a right-handed starter. <LI class=more>Astros are 10-3 in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a winning record. <LI class=more>Astros are 12-4 in their last 16 home games.
  • Astros are 22-8 in their last 30 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.<LI class=more>Cardinals are 2-6 in Loopers last 8 starts vs. a team with a winning record. <LI class=more>Cardinals are 2-6 in Loopers last 8 road starts with the total set at 9.0-10.5. <LI class=more>Cardinals are 2-7 in Loopers last 9 starts as an underdog. <LI class=morecool>Cardinals are 1-4 in Loopers last 5 starts with the total set at 9.0-10.5. <LI class=morecool>Cardinals are 1-5 in Loopers last 6 Friday starts. <LI class=morecool>Cardinals are 1-5 in Loopers last 6 starts as a road underdog.
  • Cardinals are 0-6 in Loopers last 6 road starts vs. a team with a winning record.
Trends dont say much here other then Houston is playing well above avg at home . For Looper just saying he seems to lose more then he wins away or at least his team:cheers:over possible looking some shit over still:cheers:

@ Oakland -

Lackey looks to be in superb form but I am casting some doubt. Mostly because he faced Tor and WSox twice two team who struggled offensively in May . WHich also happen to lack many quality LHB 's. Your basically talking Thome , AJ , Overbay and Stairs . Oakland will test him sending out LHB after LHB . Lackey is tough to gauge in the sense every year seems to be an extreme difference in his quality of pitching depending on 5 days rest or more but the problem is there is no consistency to which is better. It seems to be a yearly thing .

Blandton does pitch better every 5 days but is going on 6 here which has me thinking OVER 7 .

Basically alot will made be of Lackey's success @ Oakland which is justifable but hoping the difference is the amount of solid LHB he will face. Blanton is considered to be slumping and his home starts look solid to me and the pen is doing well. These teams have split the last 100 meetings .

So really the difference I see is LAA lineup still not doing much offensively and facing a solid staff in OAK . Oak bats have come alive the past few games . So thinking OAK does a little better scrapping some runs here especially at home......

OAK +100 & +1.5 RL -160 1 unit each. Still looking at that over ........

As well as the other late stuff....

1 out bases loaded and letting the pitcher bat doesnt help matters

yeah. Sort of what I mean everytime they get men on the 8 and 9 hitters come up ...Moehler stranded a ton but can you pull a guy throwing a 2 hiiter with a shit pen. You really cant so it just not meant to happen...sucks...

Also @ SD went with SD +1.5 RL and Under 7 plus small play on SD mL....

Both SP are in a groove . Wolf might be better though at the moment looking at his home games 4 or 5 have seen 2 runs or less the exception when Zona was pounding :LH early after he pitched well in ZONA he faced them at home and got knocked aoround some....

Going back to the well with LAD . Main reason they lost was because Billingsley was pitching great until yeterday. Kuroda has been good vs just about everyone except the mets . After his 1st bad start vs NY he responded by almost no hitting Houston....I think there will be runs despite both offenses struggling vs RHP. Gallagher is learning to pitch on the road like everyother youngster ....

LAD ML , smaller plays on the over and RL plus dabble with LAD and over parlayed
