That Twinkie over looks nice at 9...Hernandez is not a good fit in the AL and its beginning to show. He started off so well and still he entered May with a 5.05 ERA 1.40 WHIP and .310 BAA. Galarraga is someone who seems to have proven me wrong. Though my opinion was based mostly on what gathered from other peoples opinions. Tigers will be off a sweep of NYY and a high point where some momentum could start to really build. Understandable the fact Minny is a home dog creates "value" but I would imagine that games get abit cheaper.

1st 3 starts 21 Inn 21 H 6 R 6ER 0HR 1 BB 6K
Next 3 starts 14.2 Inn 24 H 16 R 14 ER 6 HRs 6BB 7 K

Galarraga at18inn 7 h 3er with 2 away starts mixed in is tough to see struggling badly yet . His numbers are great but RH I believe are 1-28 so far..

This card doesnt look interesting...

LAD is smoking LHP and gets to see Francis again. Rocks finally back home but slumping badly facing Penny who is 12-2 in 22 starts vs them off a weekened win vs them . Francis deserved better on Sunday when he delivered his 3rd staright solid game w/o getting a win...being they were just facing there opponents could be a chance to play an over as maybe they get hit harder the 2nd time around?? Broxton availability is in question which really thins out LAD's pen....Col pen is in turmoil outside of Fuentes and recently acquired Jason Grilli.

Braves lineup in a funk , Hudson isnt right for 3 consecutive starts and Volquez is getting better each turn...

Price isnt cheap but I think the BoSox get payback in the opener vs TB.

Normally I would say fade away the Yanks but SEA late 11th inning loss in Cleveland screws up there travel plans some. With Wang vs Bedard look slike an under although not trusting off SEA pen which could be good if Bedard goes 7 and they only need 3 outs because they are trailing....

Big price again but CC looked like he turned the corner vs NYY this weekend. KC has some issues vs LHP and Hovechar is young stud who is probably best faded when away.....

Weaver looked good with DET and just not impressed with BALTS lineup.....

Jays continue to struggle vs LHP makes Buerhle and WSox attractive.

Just a quick glance...

From ESPN concerning the Yankees/Mariners game:

Chien-Ming Wang is a perfect 6-0 with a 2.51 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in six career starts against the Mariners, and 28-9 with a 3.16 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 46 career games (45 starts) at home. Current Mariners are a combined 25-for-123 (.203) with a .505 OPS against Wang in their careers

Despite their reputation, the Yankees actually rank as one of the game's worst offenses against a left-hander, and they draw Erik Bedard as an opponent on Friday. That's terrible news for their hitters who can't touch Bedard, a group that includes Bobby Abreu (3-for-17, .176), ice-cold Robinson Cano (3-for-14, .214) and Johnny Damon (3-for-20, .150).

Under looks pretty solid to me.

Good stuff bro...

Yanks lineup is pathetic right now and the one guy smiling is ARod because if he truly doesnt like Derek Jeter he is happy to see the unraveling of the once superstar SS. Basically Jeter supposed to be an ALL STAR gets little mention as slumping but I cant think of many good things he has done with the bat and I really dont expect him to when he is at the plate.

Bedard is gonna be tough for the Damon , Abreu , Matsui and Cano if he plays group. The only RH we have is Jeter and well like I said his rapid to decent to medicore is somehow lost on the media. Cabrera is doing abit better so far vs LHP but as I stated previously when youhave 280 atbats vs LHP and manage to 2HRs and 18 RBI coming into 08 you have a long way to go. Duncan has potential but while the label looks good we still need to see the production. Whose left? Molina or Moeller catching ouch ? Ensberg is a decent bat but so far removed from the guy who was an ALL STAR few years back. WIth Cano in a major slump , Giambi hitting okay but getting no breaks , Jeter falling into medicority , ARod and Posada out theres not much to depend on.

Really do we need to talk about Wang at home? Mariners long game in Cle....Joba and Mo to close .....4-3 game ? Want to see it stay 8.5 though....Mariners 56 runs scored last 14 games which is exactly 4 runs avg and they scored 12 runs in Cle with 5 in the 9th inning in the opener...

Hard to pass up on this.......please stay @8.5 runs !:shake:

Okay looking at the game in Philly. Two things off the top of my head :

1) This is SFG first trip EAST and I wish we could see if there is any value in fading the West Coasters in these spots .

2) This is important actually IMO. SFG has 13 wins so far , the past 7 times they won the allowed 2 runs or less , in conscutive home wins they allowed 4 runs , the previous 4 wins they again allowed 2 or less runs.

So of 13 wins this year in 11 they have allowed 2 Runs or Less ( 2runs - 4x , 1 run - 3x , 0 Runs - 4 x).

So the 1st question when looking at backing SFG it just might be can they limit there opponent to 2 runs or less??

Also the SP were :

Sanchez 5 x
Lincecum 4 x
Cain 2x
Correia 1 x
Valdez 1x ( in place of Lincecum cause of weather but he later relieved)

So really outside of the Big Three they have 1 game !

13 road games they have scored 34 runs and only time scored more then 4 runs @ STL vs Braden Looper and Bowker has really struggled since his fast start.

Kendrick has been okay so far and pretty solid 2 of his last 3 starts.

SFG was swept in 3 games in 05 and 06 @ Philly before splitting in 07 so 8-2 L 10 visits.Misch is 0-4 in his career starts but being LHP vs Philly helps although Victorinos returns certainly helps them as does Howards return from his slump.

Giants are 5-2 in their last 7 during game 1 of a series.
Giants are 8-19 in their last 27 road games.
Giants are 5-12 in their last 17 games as a road underdog.
Giants are 5-12 in their last 17 road games vs. a right-handed starter.
Giants are 2-5 in their last 7 vs. a team with a winning record.
Giants are 16-40 in their last 56 road games vs. a team with a winning record.
Phillies are 36-16 in their last 52 home games vs. a team with a losing record.
Phillies are 1-7 in their last 8 home games vs. a left-handed starter.
Phillies are 5-0 in Kendricks last 5 starts during game 1 of a series.
Phillies are 13-5 in Kendricks last 18 starts as a favorite.
While the price seems high I look at what Zito was catching on the road and even say a Kevin Correia vs Manny Parra game in MILW was about Brwers -185..

About to call it a night ...

Hendrickson continues to be solid and well SD continues to struggle at the plate especially vs LHP. Marlins fresh off a sweep need Willingham and Jacobs in the lineup. Germano after 3 solid starts has been hit hard last 2 not suprisingly tougher opponents..Germano 16 runs and 16 hits last 2 outings in 8 + inn @ Hou and vs Zona...Hendrickson while in LA 3 solid starts vs SD in 07 and 06...

Nats are hot but Chico has 3 terrible outings in arow after a good start to the year. he was real solid vs Pitt last year who is like 2-8 vs LHP now and Dumtrait failed in Cincy as a SP losing 5 of 6 generally getting shelled. Wash isnt hitting well enough to shell anyone at the moment. Something has to give here Nats under run or Pitts road over run.....lean the over as nats pen is taxed....

Braves lost 4 straight coming in think something is wrong with Huddy as he has been pretty bad past 3 starts. The Braves pen got a day off but is largely a mess. Volquez has been excellent and improving but ATL is above 300 athome vs RHP so far. For ATL to win I would think there would have to be an OVER play...not the normal correlation...Reds to go 6-1 last year vs ATL...also tough to see ATL break a funk vs Volzquez...

In Hoston Oswalt is closer to himslef past few starts when guys start throwing 117 pitches I caution my expectations for there next start. Any red flags for SP I try to take note of. Anyway starting in 2006 the Brewers started finally hitting him. He has faced them 6 times doing no better then a very solid 7 inn 3 runs which 2 of happened in Houston. Very important though is 3 key players from last years MILW team are gome Jenkins , Gross and Estrada as they went 14-30 against Oswalt in his 3 starts. So basically MILW LH are what troubled him most. Counsell had a 3 hit game vs him and Jenkins really did well....Villanueva a different pitcher on the road and Milws pen less then reliable...hard to pass on Houston I think and still interested in the over 9...Wigginto returns as well..

Usually like to ride good teams who blow games the day before and boy did CHI or Wood blow one today and my -1.5 RL play and my ML and UND parlay...amabrano cruised and HRed ! Anyway Wainright actually dint pitch well s STL in 3 of 4 starts in 07. Hill is improving but command still an issue as Pinella continues to pull him quick just 5 inn last 2 starts...test for both might look at the over..Hill last 2 vs STL was 14 inn 2 r and 7 hits...wainright was good last outing 7 inn 2 runs. He did lose all 3 at home vs CHI and allowed 28hits , 19 runs in 14.2 inning s across 3 starts !! OUCH...so looking at CHI maybe over as well...

Mets had won 15 of 16 vs Zona before DBakcs took 3 of the final 4 07 meetings...maine left early possibly due to an injury Sat so look out for that as NY pen has really struggled on the road. Plus NY is 1-6 vs RHP away so far....Alou may return ...maine was solid vs Zona last year twice and I love him when he is 100% while Owings coming off the PH 2 run HR and comeback win on Wed and his 1st rough outing of the year. Otherwise he has been very solid but not excellent...for me I lean NYM.....

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz:cheers:

Really like Boston as well in the AL...Bucholz was excellent vs them this weekend and he shown to be extremely tough at Fenway..Sox still not hitting but have to think Bucholz gets the best of Edwin Jackson this time....and Red Sox nice payback spot after getting swept sort of like the series that just ended vs TOR...

Call me crazy but Ilike the fact that Boston has lost 4 of his 5 starts as well because pitching that well means that HAS to even out.

TB is smokin but they have always played Boston well at home and struggled away...

Rays are 21-50 in their last 71 during game 1 of a series.
Rays are 37-90 in their last 127 road games.
Rays are 29-71 in their last 100 road games with the total set at 9.0-10.5.
Rays are 22-57 in their last 79 road games vs. a team with a winning record.
Rays are 14-37 in their last 51 games as a road underdog of +110 to +150.
Rays are 26-70 in their last 96 road games vs. a right-handed starter.
Rays are 30-84 in their last 114 games as a road underdog.
Red Sox are 10-4 in their last 14 during game 1 of a series.
Red Sox are 38-16 in their last 54 home games.
Red Sox are 41-18 in their last 59 games as a home favorite.
Red Sox are 38-17 in their last 55 home games vs. a right-handed starter.
Red Sox are 40-18 in their last 58 games as a favorite.
Red Sox are 41-15 in their last 56 games on grass.( eye catching because both Tor and TB who swept them dont play on grass)
Rays are 10-41 in the last 51 meetings in Boston.
last year Bos was 7-2 @ home losing both by 1 run 1-0 to Kazmir and 6-5 to Sonnastine...

BOS ML and -1.5RL as well?

Always cautious on FRI of home teams and favs but sort of think this looks solid...

PHILLY -170< HOUS -140 < CLE -200 < BOSTON -170 4 team parlay....pays about 550 for every 100...could get abit better posssibly.....

Like Bos -170 and Cle -200 as well 2 teamer...only 138 for a 100 though...

Just feel Bostons bounce back spot vs TB with KC inability to hit Ponson today facing a much tougher matchup with all there LHB vs CC Sabathia...

yeah lannan is unhittable right now. if it is lannan i am going nats and under prolly. if its chico ... well shit.

also .... wonder what you think about the over in boston. I know that both of these pitchers just had great success against the opponent and that the red sox have not been hitting of late .... but i usually like it when teams get to see the same guy with a week of the last time they saw him. thoughts ?

Also seems like a good spot for the twins to me.

bedard/wang .... why dont i like the under ??

lets talk some baseball folks.

I gotta get some sleep VK...

I do think this maybe the time where they have lightened the total a tad to much for Boston. I also agree that seeing the same guys twice in a weel clear edge to the hitters. I think Bucholz is tha good though. If I could would much rather play the Sox team over....but if you see an 8.5 @ Fenway with backend of the rotation guys regardless of stats with a bias towards the UNDER then I think you have to play the OVER on principle...

Hard pressed to find a reason to pass on the under @ NYY..only concerns would be Bedard leaving early due to injury and who would pitch the 8th for SEA if losing and scared of Putz if available to pitch the 9th...I hate there pen but ar least Morrow is back in the mix.....

I could see the logic behind Minny but not sure fading Galarraga is worth it. Started the thread by talking about this game way uptop ..if it wasnt for the YANKEE name the Tigers would have beeb favored vs them last series ...Livian is scary to bck whe he is getting hit...see the balue but DET has every edge I think and probably wins this game 70% of the time...:shake:

we can sift thru typos , just like hearing how others are thinking .. helps me find angles i am missing. thanks for response and get some sleep, bud.

liking volquez as a nice sized dog, ATL not producing runs, bullpen throwing a lot more pitches and I believe Acosta won't be available. Dunn and Jr and Keppinger have hit him alright, the rest haven't really... but the braves haven't seen Volquez yet and he's been pretty unhittable.

blindly take Toronto & Boston unders, they couldn't produce any runs even if they were force-fed 100 consecutive Indian curries

:crap_on_face:

I am seeing a lot of posted plays. I actually like most of them. Am alittle suspicious of one. Not really understanding Houston love right now. That could change. Might end up playing Houston but Carlos is Not a bad road pitcher, Houston is 1-4 last 5 blowing a 6 run lead and the Brewers last year did go 13-5 vs them. Is that a good thing or a bad thing today. Could make arguments either way but for now I am thinking not betting. GL

I'm busy today at work so I might not get time to post, but Boston in a great spot today. In addition to the fundamental reasons and trends SN posted above, you have Buchholz in a revenge game. Jackson's last start was against Boston, and Buchholz's last start came against Tampa. The difference is that Jackson got the ND while Buchholz was credited with the loss.

Also, Washington on a four game winning streak right now. They stay at home to face the Bucs and Dumatrait. Dumatrait only has 11 IP on the season, so it is difficult to pass judgement on him. But, the Nationals have been playing well. -154 is getting expensive, so I would look to buy them on the -1 RL (I don't enjoy laying 1.5 runs in the NL). Also, Minnesota as a home dog has been money for as many seasons as my young ass can remember. Detroit, ok , but Galarraga, nah.

Boston big, Washington big, Minnesota small... GL boys

Good stuff fellas just starting to dig into this crap now...

VK - You had it correct its Lannan today..

Really I guess my problem with Villanueva is more the fact he is less likely to go deeper into a game on the road and there pen is just in shambles lately without any sign of improvement. Think he has 8 career road starts and only once did he get past the6th inning going 8 on Oct 1 2006 @ STL late in the year start so sort of meaningless probably. Has gone 6 though I believe 3 times...guess being Milw has shed the LHB that gave Oswalt problems and the fact he has been going 7 strong for them coupled with MILW struggles vs RHP and the chance they need 9 outs from there pen makes it hard for me to be interested in MILW. They did exactly what I expect vs Zambrano yesterday nothing but still won...so its always possible...

Not crazy about -140 @ Minnesota but I dont trust Livan Hernandez when he is slumping to back them . The difference in lineups is just to huge at this point ...Minndy does have some payback since Tigers stole 2 from them late a week or two ago but even last year DET was 8-1 at the Metrodome..Also edge to Minny with a day off vs a late flight to Minny for Tigers..Twins 8-6 at home won 4 straight there but in SF fashion allof there home wins outside two have seen them allow 3 runs or less ( once 4 and once 5 runs). There 4 game win streak they allowed just 5runs but only scored 12 as well...3 per vs 1.25 per allowed...so can they beat good offensive teams without huge edge in the SP matchup??? Now granted Hernandez is the SP who won both of those games where they allowed more then 3 runs..6-5 vs TB and 6-4 vs KC with Shields and Meche dealing. Key though is Minny was dogged both times...so does that make this line look like it makes sense?? Tigers are lot better then KC and TB...

Just looking at with Hernandez slumping I cant expect DET to not score more then 3 runs here and with good pens on both sides its hard to like the OVER now that I see 9.5 runs...

So if we just look at the 9 games in MINNY as I couldnt erase the that 3 game set in DET we see that all year last season the Twins scored as many as 4 runs twice at HOME vs DET. The 16 they exploded for Virgil Vasquez and the 4 they got in the last meeting vs Jair Jurrjens......WOW! They couldnt hit DET pitching last year and the pen has improved greatly while Minnys offense is doing less......

Almost makes a case for the UNDER

Anyway like I say sometimes the more you KNOW the tougher the decision becomes.....

FYI - Twins manager Ron Gardenhire is out this weekend for the series after his brother died today. Gardy is back in Oklahoma.

I'd expect the Twins to be a little sharper this series, despite the fact Detroit is looks ready to surge. Scotty Ulger takes over as acting manager and he's done it before. I'd say Ulger is a bit more of a risk taker than Gardy. He plays to hit-and-run a bit more and has been more active on the base paths. he will also use the bunt more often to get runners in scoring position. So totals could go up.

I was on hold at work while this woman tried fixing this shitty program I am forced to use, so I began reviewing the daily stat sheet -- Arizona looks like a great play!

I admit, I am biased toward Owings because he is a Green Wave alum. But, I like Arizona as a team tonight not because of Owings. Put anyone from the starting rotation on the mound and I like the D'backs tonight. The current situation serves them right. This is simply a gut feeling...

Thats a very tough game. There are major trends pointing to the Mets today. Note a quiet line movement steadily going down. BOL on the play but not currently playing that game.

One of those days where I keep getting sidetracked everytime I try to cap MLB...

So while I already pointedout the strength I see in playingBoston also take into account it appears Upton is out and not sure for how long or evevn why and the game that Bucholz lost @ TB 2-1 was on a 2run HR in the b8th . Also Ortiz did not play that game and Lowell still disabled. Drew and Ellsbury did so that may be minor differences ...Upton's loss is big though for TB as one would expect but also they havent hit much better then Boston . Also looking at TB away there wins are vs Guthrie on opening day which is there best , Pettitte 1st start off the DL , Kennedy , Boonser who had lead MINNY to 10 straight losses in his starts at home, Albers in a spot start and Burres who has struggled vs them in his young career...

Boston will have beckett facing SHields again. Shields pitched a 2 hit gem shutout vs Boston and Beckett afterskipping a start was excellent striking out 13 better chance for Beckett to duplicate his outing IMO especially depending on Upton. Also on Sunday Kazmir returns from teh DL and I enjoy fading SP off the DL especially when its his 1st start of the year granted he has beeen throwing ML rehab and TB struggling so far vs LHP about 2.7 runs per start and around 215 BA....

So really like Boston 2 win the series ....havent even checked that price ...TB 4-14 L18 up @ Fenway......

Boston ML (today) and series as well...
