Louisville's defense and Florida's offense did about what I thought they would. No way did I think that Bridgewater would dominate Florida's defense in that fashion. I don't think many people saw that coming. I thought Muschamp would have his team and his defense much more prepared than they were. Really an embarrassing performance by the Gator. If not for that pick 6 in the first play of the game, we probably get out of that first half with a push. Defense and special teams essentially accounted for 21 points in that game. Hard to keep a game UNDER when that happens.
 
Great capping Jimmy. A little surprised that you didn't take the 2nd half under or maybe you did and didn't have time to post. In any case you helped a lot of people with your write ups and pics and it is appreciated. You are one bad ass capper.

I just want to clarify my comment in post #209 above. It was in regards to the way the game was played out. I loved Florida from the get-go, I also liked the unders, as I was pretty sure the game would play out similar to the
Fla/ Geo game, only not quite as sloppy, and just a tad more scoring. Giving up a turn-over and TD in the first 15 seconds, and not holding Louisville on 3rd downs really dashed that expectation. Then when I thought it couldn't get worse, Louisville gets a TD in the 2nd half in only 8 seconds. I really should have known better because it seems every time I think a game is " the pure nuts " I get creamed. You had it capped right, it just wasn't meant to be. I was kind of thinking on going down to New Orleans to have a good time in a few weeks after the Bowls, but now I think the " Gator " boys all ready had it for me.
 
Muschamp had a bad game. The trick play at the end of first half to score? Really? Just line up and mash it in there like you are supposed to. He went to Driskell too often and too early and abandoned the run. He went onside kick for no reason to start the second half. He went onside kick instead of kicking deep after the other score. He just didn't trust his team at all. I liked the under quite a bit too.

Basically you have two extremely defensive minded coaches going head-to-head. One team has a one-dimensional run-based offense. They other offense was facing arguably the best defense in the country. This thing had UNDER written all over it. We all know that are times when you make the right bet and lose. This was one of those occasions.

LOL!!! Louisville scores a touchdown on the first snap of each half. Even after that I thought there was a decent shot of hittting the game UNDER. Then Florida takes the kickoff to the house. So times it's just not your night. Tonight was that night.

Yah exactly, that's what sucks about taking a total in the 40s in college football.. one turnover or big special teams play and it's hard to recover :shake:

15 seconds into the game Florida was chasing 7 points, and it just got worse from there. Obviously that took Florida out of their offensive game plan. I think we all know that if Florida's fortunates would be tied to Driskal's ability to make plays in the passing game, it probably would not end well for the Gators.

I really expected Muschamp to have his team ready to play, especially his defense. I expected a dominant defensive performance from Florida and a lot of Louisville punts. Hard to be more wrong than that. As dominant as I expected Florida's defense to be, that's how dominant Bridgewater was.

We all know how important motivation is in the game of football, and especially in bowl games. I consider that in every matchup, but I have definitely miscalculated badly on some games in that regard this bowl season, and this game was one of them. I knew Louisville was jacked for this game, but I thought Florida would be equally jacked, or very close to being equally jacked. I think we can both agree that wasn't the case.

Your point is well taken, but I usually don't allow line moves to change my opinion on games. I handicap the matchup as best as I can, and rely on my best judgement to make a bet. Obviously if there were a radical line move due to the entire team coming down with the stomach flu, that would be different.

Florida was as prepared for Louisville as their big girls fans in the stands were to wear spandex.

I knew to take the 2nd under and waited to long thinking line would move from 24 to 24.5 and was watching the half time on tv and my board went down.. By the time it came up the line was off the board. I was also on Lou +14.5 so that reduce the sting. Ole well onward and upward. LOL

Oregon is pretty much been a team I have auto-faded in bowl game every year, and I'll continue to do so this season. When good coaches have extra time to prepare for Oregon's offense, it usually doesn't turn out well for Oregon. I'll put my money on Bill Snyder here.

Kansas State +7.5 vs. Oregon (Regualr Bet)

Kansas State ML +270 vs. Oregon (Small Bet)

Sorry guys, I have been absolutely swamped the last few days. As I mentioned earlier in the bowl season on Blankets, TAMU was one of my favorite bolw games of the bowl season. I said if the line dropped to 3 or less, I would "Max Bet" that game. I did get 3, but ended up only betting it for 5 units ("Best Bet").

I locked in Ole Miss @ -4.5 & Kent St. +3.5 and ML yesterday.

Lastly, I have a "Max Bet" on Alabama -9.5.

Is Ur Kent state play a best bet ?
 
Obviously I was happy with the huge Alabama win to close out the bowl season, but overall it was a disappointing bowl season in terms of units won. My goal for the bowl season is always +100 units, or right around there, so going +48.85 units is not quite up to my expectations.

The losses in the Louisville/Florida game created a 37.8 unit swing in my bank. I was really stunned by how that game played out. I was not stunned that Louisville won the game, I was stunned by how easily Louisville ran up and down the field on the Gator defense. If ever a game had under written all over it, that one certainly did with two very defensive-minded coaches going head-to-head. Had that game fallen my way, I would have finished at +86.65 units, and that is a figure I would have been very content with.

Despite the somewhat underwhelming performance this bowl season, I nevertheless had a blast, and hope everyone had as much fun as I did.
