I must of been asleep but this is the first I'm hearing of O'Brien being at Ohio State. I've always thought he sucked and if Day is gambling his future on this guy its a losing bet.

Up and down career, but a pretty well-respected guy in the industry. Who knows how it works out, but pretty big hire.

Day basically all in for next year.

The dynamics of passing over Hartline can't be lost.

Also, does Day actually go full CEO? Will his ego allow this?

They are guaranteed a playoff spot with one of the easier schedules in the conference. But then, it gets interesting.

The QB position will be very interesting if/when Sayin heads up there.

I don’t think he has a choice, but to go full CEO. Anticipating a couple more coaching changes coming in the upcoming days as well from Columbus.

O'Brien was instrumental in developing Bryce Young at Alabama. And we scored plenty of points in the 2 years he was here. That said, his in game adjustments left a lot to be desired and his play calling at times bordered on the insane. Just my $0.02

Not getting my hopes up, but hearing there's a pretty decent chance that Proctor stays, and that Downs is at least considering it

The funny thing is that OSU has been whining to their fans/collectives/whatever that they don't have enough NIL money.

They were running fundraisers yada yada.

Somebody/something stepped up since that 3rd loss to Mich. The money is flowing like something else now.

They dwarfed you way before Kirby got there.
I know. The joke used to be UGA had the arrogance of Alabama and the history of South Carolina. A couple WR injuries later, they have 2 nattys and they will never stop barking

Nothing quite like watching your rival win big to stir the masses

Proctor to Iowa as expected. I think some of his teammates gave him something to think about, but home won out

Hearing of the 4 or 5 former Washington players in Tuscaloosa right now, we feel really good about all but the CB Muhammed. Texas made an attractive pitch to him, and he's scheduled to visit Oregon next week. We might be fighting a losing battle there, but you never know

Well,

Michigan was making the seamless transition on the coaching front.

They weren't going to lose many, IF ANY, notable players.

Then they did the most Michigan thing they could ...

And became cheap with the best SC in America.

He's off to the NFL. The NFL doesn't really utilize SC guys. The players have their own trainers in a lot of cases.

Just a major blow to the defending champs.

The AD strikes again! As many feared.

https://www.si.com/fannation/colleg...an-football-ben-herbert-chargers-jim-harbaugh

He was one of two strength coaches in college football to earn over $1 million per year, and Harbaugh also gave him the title of associate head coach.

They were not being cheap with him prior to him leaving with Jimbo H. He was one of the two highest paid S&C coaches in the country.

Curious to see what comes of this, if anything. Last gasp of the NCAA?

I won't shed one tear for BB coach Rick Barnes because he has seemed like a slimeball going back to his Providence days when he was messing with the legendary Dean Smith. He is one heckuva coach but seems slimy.

If FB coach Heupel (Sooner) was involved then that will suck but if he did something wrong then he should pay the price. (no pun intended).

I think it's probably more of a situation of a school/NIL source that just got overly aggressive before anyone knew what was going to be allowed and what wasn't, but who knows

Ole Miss was put on probation, correct? Shea decided to transfer after he says he was misled about the upcoming punishment. This wasn't JH trying to poach a player who was planning on staying at said school the next year.

A bit of a difference here from Ole Miss offering sums of cash to players DURING a playoff run. This was far before the coaching change.

Not to shit on Ole Miss here, as there are schools that are being bigger sharks in general in CFB this off-season (plain as day).

He was one of the two highest paid S&C coaches in the country making over $1M this past year.

Do you know how much he was looking for?

Probably going to get paid a lot more by the Chargers so maybe UM never had a chance or they could not justify it because he was already 1 of the top 2 highest paid in the country.

I will say the UM boys definitely think they got the squeakiest clean program lol

1. I’m not re-litigating all of that shit but it was always hilarious that Shea claimed he was misled, and that apparently people like you bought it, given that his brother was on the staff. His brother misled him? Come on man. He said what he needed to say in order to be cleared. Period.

2. Harbaugh didn’t meet with Shea at IHOP. He met with D. Anderson who was by all accounts staying at Ole Miss…until he began to get visits from other coaches.

3. I can share screenshots of conversations with a former Michigan staffer when he was at Ole Miss which would disabuse you of your apparent belief that Michigan operates as an exception among college football programs who give a shit. Michigan is a big boy program and they, like every other big boy program, do what it takes to win.
