On the other hand brewers pen has all a sudden become a problem w knebel out for the year and jefferies out til at least mid May. They gonna ruin Hader! Assuming he be available again today but can they afford to continue using him for 2 inning saves? Hard not to like the cards again as dogs, far as I know about woodruff is he not a guy that gonna go much longer than 4-5 innings, that leaves a lot of work for the pen. Hudson was awesome this spring.

Didn’t know that, knew he kinda came out of nowhere! He looks even better to me which makes sense now that I know he skipped most the minor league seasoning others get. His delivery looked more compact and he been able to consistently repeat it where I thought last year he had some consistency issues. His slider looks way better!!

Cards +123.., guess we shoulda just called this the cards homer thread! Lol. Didn’t mean for it to be this way and certainly not my style to just bet cards every day but how can we not at these prices? Teams incredibly equal and crazy as it is gotta say cards have the advantage in the late innings, it pretty much Hader and nobody else they can trust in that mil pen right now. Unless something has changed woodruff hasn’t been a guy who can go deep into games, even in minors he never averaged more than 4ish innings per start. Hudson has looked great this spring and think he gonna have a very flaherty rookie season.

Cardinals +110 (I played it little earlier just didn’t have time to post, anything plus is good). Can’t wait till this series is over so I can stop playing cards every day!! As I’ve already mentioned it just a case where I feel these teams are really even so taking plus money seems like the right thing to do and the games have basically played out that way. Cards starters have had a hard time dealing w this lineup, mostly the lefties. I don’t anticipate that being a problem today as wacha nasty change up is a great equalizer against lefties. Lefties only have a career .640 ops and it was down under .600 last season. None the cards big guns pitched out the pen yesterday so expect wacha will be handing off directly to Reyes/Miller/Hicks.
Stl/milw un 8.5 ev. I think cards pitching will finally have a game that limits brewers to 2-3 runs. Don’t really expect cards to put up more than 5.

I lost 2 bets today in 1 stinking 9th inning! Lol.
I gotta say initially I loved shildt but I woulda loved anyone not named matheny, now that the “not matheny” shine is gone I’m not so sure. I thought he butchered 2 games this series. The other day not pitch hitting for Hudson when cards had a chance to tie it w 2 risp and Hudson wasn’t looking good or long for the game anyway (believe he only got 4 more outs before he was yanked), cards never had another good scoring chance in that game. Maybe that one is debatable but this next gripe for today’s game really bothered me.
today I thought it was insanely stupid to pull Reyes after only 2 outs to have miller pitch to Yelich, right when he did it I told my brother I thought it was gonna fuck everything up w Miller and hicks having to come in mid innings then go back out to complete the inning they were supposed to be slated for! 1st off Miller hasn’t shown himself to be any better vs lefties thus far and yelich had already taken him deep this series, secondly braun hits after him so imo you let Reyes pitch to yelich and if he doesn’t get him so what then he can finish off Braun, that would give Miller the 8th vs a couple more lefties. Instead he yanks Reyes, Miller walks yelich anyways then proceeds to give up rbi hits to braun and Shaw I think. I get that ultimately those guys gotta execute and Miller hasn’t but you should give them the best chance to do so and think that means letting those 3 all get their inning from 7th thru 9th opposed to having them have to come in mid inning then go back out for another. Especially since brewers have tons of lefty bats so just didn’t make sense to bring Miller in prematurely.,, maybe it wouldn’t have mattered but I strongly believe if he leaves Reyes in milw doesn’t pick up 2 runs that inning to cut lead to 4-3, it not as if Reyes had done anything wrong to that point, he looked quite good after the leadoff guy got on. Making that move simply to go lefty/lefty vs yelich was stupid imo.
The team has relied heavily on power for a while now remember the Grichuk days?

I was gonna mention that but for every one they predicted I can show you a guy they been saying that about and been wrong.
Funny story. Few years back there was someone (can’t remember who at moment) the analytics geeks were particularly bullish on who I liked and for a good 2+ seasons they kept driving lines against him like crazy (nice for me once I figured out to wait on playing them, lol). He continued pitching incredibly well for several seasons, I couldn’t tell ya how many arguments I had w some computer geeks bout it. Guy starts to fall off as everyone does and wouldn’t ya know those same dorks were right there to tell me “we told you so, regression!”. Lol. Shit cracked me up.

Then there the cashners of the world who early in his career the analytics folks drulled over cause his insane k rate but he never pitched up to his projections, then his stuff deteriorates but he learns to pitch and started outperforming his advanced metrics at times.
I don’t have anything against the analytics, I use them pretty much with every game I cap. I just think they are one of many valuable tools and it a mistake to take them as the be all end all for a lot of reasons, On top of that list is some the things they consider luck I have a real problem with.
