Gotta lean over 10. I can’t find who the pitchers following Martinez will be and no starting lineups yet, so guess I’ll wait and see but assume be basically same lineup as against great brittan. Goldy and arenado seem to be in strong form. They should carry the offense, hopefully guys get on in front of them.

I’m so bummed we didn’t keep this alive or bet this thing. Just no freaking time with life and all the hoops. I watched several the Japan games cause they were late night while I was awake doing nothing, pretty rare I watch and am legit interested without any money on it. That atmosphere in Japan was freaking fantastic! I seriously didn’t watch any the USA pool play or any others besides Japan.
I’ve started catching reruns of the knockout games and the atmosphere been pretty awesome! The players care, my only gripe is the timing. They should just ax the all star game, give Mlb a 2 week break and do this in July! Anyone like me who legit loves baseball, follows and bets it daily really gotta push thru around late July/august cause the grind is real! You stop all the same ol same ol BS of the 162 game season and put this in for 2 weeks and you would freaking own middle of July!! Not only do I dislike the timing cause this ncaa hoops time but this also spring training time! These guys shouldn’t be playing some the most meaningful games of the season right now, they should be easing into getting ready for the season. What I’ve seen the ball been higher level than I expected but I think it be even better in July! I know the mlb would hate this but that dumb, this event could be World Cup huge! Obviously not quite WC but I think it gst bigger and bigger. Do it every other year also, not every 4 years!! I dunno. Maybe im crazy but I would be so jacked if they played this in July when hardly shit going on and all the players in mid season form!!! It never happen but I think it a great idea!!

Tonight should be amazing!! I’m shocked Japs are dogs! Our lineup a little stronger but not like Japan can’t hit, they have lots of pop and maybe more importantly they take crazy good at bats all down the order, they gonna wear pitchers out and here lies the issue for why is USA favs? Japs pitching is freaking fantastic. Only problem is I have no clue who been used or who can be used? I know Ohtani can and prob will pitch a inning or 2 at some point, but as I mentioned I have watched quite a bit of Japan games cause the times.
My dudes, Japs have some legit pitching!! Apparently guy starting tonight hasn’t even pitched yet but has won 3 awards equivalent to cy young in Japan! If he better than these other dudes I’ve seen pitching watch the fick out! Just like we were amazed when Darvish came over here these guys have like 7-8 pitches! I watched one guy who hitting 95-96 easy thsn had a splitter they say is like 3 different pitches cause way he manipulates it and it was nasty! We know Ohtani-son is gonna pitch at some point (probably after he blast a 440 foot bomb w guys on base!!),
USA starting Arizona dbacks Merrill kelly? I don’t think Kelly is great and then I guess waino come in at some point, I love waino but and he such a competitor it hard to be against him, that said the at bats I’ve watched Japan take it will be very hard for way him or Kelly pitch to get thru this lineup more than once. They gonna need a super favorable k-zone cause japs will force them onto the plate and don’t think their stuff good enough to get out after out.
Call me crazy cause team USA lineup is freaking insane, Trey Turner hitting 9th?!?!! You gotta be crazy to go against that! But the jap lineup has some dudes and where they not as deep 1-9 the other guys take pesky at bats. The other night against very good Mexican pitchers they just continued to put guys all over the bases, Mexico very good pitchers kept escaping all way to till they didn’t and the Japan squad just out lasted them as they continued to grind good at bats till the runs came. Knowing the Japan pitcher tonight has won the Japanese league cy young over the filth I’ve watched pitching for them makes me believe he has the stuff to get outs. We know ohtani-son can mow down any hitter in the world! Our pitchers are crafty vets who don’t have the arsenals to just blow hitters away, can they continually force Japan to hit into outs? MYbe they can but plus money on Japan? Call me unpatriotic but japs +110 for me!!

Went to US/Mexico in 2013, the Hispanics were definitely wayyy more into it than the American crowd. Think Mexico won that one, can't remember, pretty sure Adrian Gonzalez hit a homer at least.

The Japan games in Japan were crazy. I’d love to have been at one of those. They freaking loved it! Ohtani hit a freaking bomb and they all passing ball around touching it like it was most special thing ever, thought it was pretty cool.
That Ohtani blast was hilarious, some poor Australian kid throwing in the 80s and a super loopy hook trying to get this shitty off-speed by him, You just knew it was coming if dude threw a strike and BOOOM, Ohtani-son didn’t miss it!

Anyways moral of the whole story Is this thing was pretty great, if they put it in July every 2 years it be fucking fantastic! And more importantly, if you wanna just be a patriot and bet on a great lineup take USA. If you like me and prefer money Japan getting +110 feels like a steal cause their pitching is superior!

Mlb never let it happen but I say July would be amazing. Everyone in mid season form, nothing else going on. So what instead of 3 days for all start game they take 10-15 every few years? It won’t kill them and it would be so huge with nothing else goin on. The timing blows cause right in middle of best time for ncaa hoops and the fact nobody is in game shape yet. Other than that this thing could be incredible. Mlb too worried bout making dumb shit rule changes to attract fans, let’s ignore this thing staring us in the face that could be enormous for sake of getting eyes on the sport. Then when it over all a sudden you get ppl craving baseball in August while teams battling for playoff spots. To show how into this Japan is, last night my fiance (from Osaka) who never watches sports, was on Line with like 6 different people while I had the game up on my phone so she could watch the last 3 innings before bed. One of her co-workers drove from Charlotte to Miami yesterday to get there in time for the first pitch and he was live streaming to the group and actually started crying when Japan got the walk off hit at the end. It was so cool to see them cheering and screaming last night and that was just the semis. Her dad and all of his friends (they are all in their 70s) were all yelling and screaming for Japan as well. We just don't have anything like that in our country, as one of the games did a 44 rating in Japan, which is insane when you think about it. She is so excited for the game tonight and I am thinking I gotta put at least a hundred for fun on Japan to win but haven't looked at the lines yet to see the ML vs +1.5 vs team total. Thoughts?

I love me some Japan at plus. USA lineup is scary but think Japs have a sizable pitching advantage. From what I’ve seen they got some really really good pitchers and guy starting tonight has won like 3 cy young equivalents over there so he gotta be good. Im sure if they have lead late at some point Ohtani could pitch. USA going kelly and waino far as I know, neither their stuff is overwhelming Japan hitters, I don’t really get the price. Maybe USA bats are just that good but pitching usually beats hitting.
All I’ve really caught live were a few the Japan games in Tokyo and yea I’d say it way different than anything we see here.

My understanding is some other guy who has won the Japan league cy young 3x (which after seeing some their other pitchers means he really good) and that Ohtani would be a option to pitch later. That what I read somewhere, coulda been wrong but I’m good with whomever they deem should pitch after seeing some their other guys pumping mid 90s with a bunch of pitches (like we see Darvish do), whoever it is on the mound for them ain’t gonna be a scrub, pretty confident he be throwing better stuff than Kelly or 50 year old waino.

That my understanding as well, I’ve seen 2 other Japan games earlier and they have other dudes playing over there that stuff is similarly nasty. I have no doubt which team has the pitching edge. USA lineup is crazy stacked they certainly have the edge in that regard but Japan can hit, have power in the middle and they all take good abs. USA just doesn’t have any power arms that I’m aware of. Maybe Kelly and waino will have enough movement to get guys hitting ground balls all game, they gonna need a generous ump (no clue who ump is) cause I just don’t think either are throwing stuff Japan batters can’t hit.

We still don't get DK or FD here in Carolina but they are debating the sports betting bill next month and hope to have it in play by Super Bowl 2024, so we'll see. Would be great to be able to take advantage of some of their crazy stuff.
