i will start with this and I am sure the Gurvs will come out

Jerome Bettis has always been super overrated to me...yea "The Bus", "big", etc.....the yardage surprises me, then I look at the avg and remember. He was a guy that did stay healthy from what I recall....that helps for a RB

How about Thomas Jones?

Interesting route to this list....

Well, maybe not R Waters interesting..........but still....

Williams taking off seasons in his prime still made the list which is amazing. Pot ...... With that said i knew it already so I wasn't surprised.

Thomas Jones I would never have guessed. I barely remember him.

Tiki Barber was the other surprise for me.

Steven Jackson overrated. Played 12 seasons and has under 11,500. That's not 1000 yards a season average. To average 1000 yards per season all you have to run is 63 yards a game. I know he didn't play 16 games every year but his name should never be in the discussion for HOF.

Thomas Jones.

And the reason I think we don't identify is he played with so many teams.

John Riggins, dude retired at 31 and had only one 1k season by 29. Comes back & dude accumulated 40% of his career total in 5yrs after turning 31!! One of the years was a strike shortened year, another he started just 4gms & another he was 36!

Wow, never knew that.

Besides Woodson who played good everywhere but in a Raiders uniform. Even when he forces fumbles they are considered incomplete passes

Thomas Jones, Ricky Williams, and Jamal Lewis, would have gone 0-3 guessing them. Lewis was spectacular in short stretches, I guess when you have 2000 in a year it really cuts down the number of years needed. Ricky same way. Jones is interesting in that I think we all remember him playing forever, we just never knew he was that good or gave him the credit he deserved.

I think a lot of folks remember The Bus at the end of his career as a goal line back (which is probably when his ypc really started to get weighed down), but he was remarkable in his first few years, to move the way he did at his size, nobody wanted to tackle him.

But the most surprising thing to me of all - by far - is that there are still people out there who think Smith was actually a better football player than Sanders. Holy shit.

As you were talking about Bettis it reminded me of Campbell who I was surprised to not see on the list 9, 407 of the toughest yards ever

2 things strike me on the list. First is that Hershel Walker if not for the USFL would be in the top 10 and 2nd Franco Harris was an idiot for holding out and leaving the Steelers just before he was to pass Jim Brown as the all-time rushing leader...even if he was going to hold the record just until Payton passed him still a stupid move.

2 guys I'd have never guessed were on the list were Thomas Jones and Eddie George.

2 guys I thought for sure were on the list were Earl Campbell and Shaun Alexander.

Last thought: Emmitt Smith is going to stay at the top of the list forever.

absolutely. nobody is that much of a workhorse anymore and nobody has a prime that long anymore.

.

But this was very good training for his new career: spokesman and co-owner of Power Plant Gym - where workouts and weed are combined! :joint: :benchpress:
